Full textThis thesis, entitled “The incarnation of the Word of God as work of salvation in Athanasius of Alexandria” emphasizes a topic that has very strong connotations in the history of Christianity and religious thoughts in general, namely the liberating action of the Son of God for man, with all the consequences that will result. Athanasius’ thinking of human nature is, in some degree, original. For him, the human being is a corruptible one, as originated in nothingness, but destined to an eternal life through the participation of God, who possesses the true life and who communicates it to him, if he remains in communion with God. To achieve this personal relationship, God created him after his image, the Logos himself, and endowed him with spirit, which enabled him to raise always his thought to the intelligible world and to see God in whose image he was made. Because of his recklessness and deceit of the devil, man failed to keep the purity of his spirit, purity that ensured his contemplation of the Image, he turned through sin to sensible things and began to contemplate himself. Thus, the separation from God, the source of his life, makes the man returning to his original condition as creature out of nothing. But God in his infinite love would not leave man in this deplorable state and sent into the world his own Word to renew, as Image of God, the man made after this Image and, by assuming a true humanity, deliver him from sin and death by his death and his resurrection. Yet the saving work accomplished by the incarnation of the Word is not limited only to a restoration of man to his original condition, but requires something more, namely a union so close of humanity and divinity in the person of Christ, so that the human nature itself is made permeable to the deity. This work accomplished in the Christ’ person extends to all men, through their similarity and their incorporation into Christ. Thus the author concludes by his famous phrase: “God became man so that man is made god”, a god, not by nature but by grace
Miller, Blaise Anne-Marie. "Le verbe fait image : iconoclasmes, écriture figurée et théologie de l'Incarnation chez les poètes métaphysiques : le cas de George Herbert." Paris 3, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008PA030131.
Full textThe period of time which stretches between the two phases of violent iconoclastic destruction in Early Modern England also corresponds to the development of a new « metaphysical » poetics characteristically known for its striking conceits. The purpose of this study, which is devoted to George Herbert, will be to show how his poetry can become endowed with some of the properties usually ascribed to the religious image. The rhetorics of iconoclasm shape Herbert’s attempt to convert and purify poetry. Whereas past and future iconoclastic destruction testifies to a deeper crisis of the notion of image, George Herbert seeks to recreate it internally through a poetics of discordia concors whose model is the Incarnation. By distancing himself, as many other contemporary poets, from certain long-standing approaches to figurative language, he reclaims for poetry the power to body forth the divine. Such a recovery of resemblance is not only made possible through the « figure of transport », the metaphor, but aslo through an iconic use of writing. Thus Herbert is able to suggest the unspeakable and the transcendance of God
Elfakharany, Cherine. "L'harmonisation sémantique entre le verbe et sa préposition : l'exemple de "sur" : approche synchronique." Thesis, Lyon, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018LYSE2142.
Full textThe most common definition of the preposition on, including among linguists, is that it indicates the position of a subject superior to an object, as, spatially, in La lampe est sur la table, and on the metaphorical plan, in Les politiques influent sur le sort du peuple. However, this approach encounters many difficulties : among other things, it can’t be applied spatially to : La petite fille leva les yeux sur son père or, temporally, at : Elle va sur ses vingt ans, or, on a metaphorical level, to : Amr compte sur ses amis. The existing definitions of the preposition on are therefore not satisfactory. Our thesis proposes, in its first part, a semantic identity for this preposition, after a critical evaluation of what the dictionaries, the reference of grammars and various scientific works dedicated to it offer. The hypothesis is that the verb selects the preposition which introduces its complement according to a semantic affinity between the two - for example, if influence builds its complement with on in French, it is that there would be an agreement, a semantic harmony, between to influence and on. The second part of the thesis develops the reliable and exhaustive corpus that will test the advanced hypothesis in the most rigorous conditions possible, namely verbs that build their complement with the preposition on - which assumes the prior characterization of the concept of "complement". The third chapter contains a first part verifying in the corpus that the preposition on has the identity conferred by our hypothesis, which is the case for 100% of the statements tested. The second part shows 92% that the verb is constructed with a preposition with which it has an affinity of meaning. The hypothesis that there is semantic harmonization between the verb and its preposition - in this case of the complement introduced by on with the identity that we attributed to it - is therefore verified

Full textThe study of compound verbs in modern persian covers two different parts : 1- how these compound verbs are composed 2- are there any means to separate them. During the first part which starts with an introduction about the necessity of the compound verb, its origin and its evolution through the centuries, the question of morphology will be discussed : some general remarks about the nature and the function of each constituent. Then one will observe the semantic : the relative fixation between two parts according to their meaning; and finally the syntactical study, : the internal syntax, the function that the nominal part could be relevant to its verb, and the external syntax, the syntax of the compound verb in relation with the object of the sentence. Once established this criteria, we will see the possibility to separate them into two parts; which are the elements that can be inserted between them as "expansion", are there any restriction using these expansions and is there any transformation due to this expansion. To conclude we will see whether there is any way to find the border between a totaly free combination and a solid composition

Full textAs is well known, most scholars consider the idea of doubt or mental exisence as the ultimate meaning of the subjunctive. Very fex instances can be found in the works of plautus to provide evidence for the truth of this theory that seems to me greatly irrelevant. Nor can i accept the position of those who claim that subjunctive and optative were originally not modes at all but tenses. As far as i am concerned, i regard this opinion as a survival of the sociological view of old grammarians who believed primitive men unable to conceive such a notion as a mode. This book favours adherence to the following thesis : the subjunctive, which is widely used to convey wish, indignation, fear, perplexity, etc. , expresses an emotional attitude of the speaker
Belaïa-Marc, Elena. "Quantification et aspect verbal en russe : les quantifications du verbe ont-ils une influence sur le choix de l'aspect ?" Paris 4, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996PA040052.
Full textThis work is devoted to the study of the choice of aspect when the number of actions of verb is indicated. More precisely, this study examines the influence of small finite state quantifiers on the choice of aspect of verbs in the past tense. The interest paid here to this problem is justified by the almost total lack of detailed studies of the subject by Russian linguists. We have relied on the work of Jean-Paul Sémon on the Russian verb, notably on stadia and chronopoiesis (textual creation of the illusion of passing time). Approaching the problem of choice of aspect from this theoretical position, we have succeeded in shedding light on significant number of problems that had never before been adequately explained. We conclude that the mention of small finite state quantifiers does not in itself influence the choice of aspect. This choice is in fact determined by the integration of the quantified action into a specific context
