Abstract:
Recent literature on the role of plastics in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was analyzed. Despite contributing to the accomplishment of at least 15 SDGs, plastic pollution, especially marine pollution, outweighs the positive contribu tions of plastic to accomplishing the 2030 Agenda. The study, however, emphasized the vital importance of the circular economy, highlighting practices such as recycling as viable solutions to the socio-environmental problems that may be created by plastics.

Abstract:
Constellations of organisations are important partners in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of all SDGs (EU, 2021; UNGC, 2021). The EU and the UN consider that private foundations have a role to play in fulfilling these goals. They are organisations that can make a contribution through funding and by using their potential to mobilise actors involved. Although they are recognised as having a role in reaching the SDGs, there is little work on how these foundations can be stronger players in the attainment of these goals. This benchmarking report extends existing knowledge

Abstract:
Groundwater represents 97% of the world’s available freshwater resources and is extensively abstracted throughout the world. While abundant in a global context, it can only de developed to a certain extent without causing environmental impacts. Also, it is highly variable across the globe, and where it is heavily relied on, it is less renewable. Hence, it is critically important that this resource is managed sustainably. However, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Development Agenda do not, as a rule, account explicitly for the significant role that groundwater plays and will

JOSI, Editor. How GPT Aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Andalas, 2024. https://doi.org/10.25077/27122024.

Full text
Abstract:
The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a global framework for addressing critical challenges such as economic growth, innovation, and sustainability. Industrial engineering plays a pivotal role in achieving these goals, particularly by optimizing systems, improving operational efficiency, and fostering innovation. Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPT), as a cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology, are uniquely positioned to support industries in making meaningful progress toward these objectives.

Full text
Abstract:
The sustainable development goals (SDGs) provide a comprehensive global plan of action for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. These ambitious SDG commitments require many actions to achieve and it is important that potential new activities, such as ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) as a means of climate change mitigation, do not hinder progress towards the SDGs. Here we describe a CDR SDG assessment framework that we developed for future use in evaluating the sustainability of different ocean-based CDR options or portfolios. The assessment methodology describes how the user

Abstract:
TRL’s vision for the future is of clean, efficient transport that is safe, reliable and accessible for everyone, including for countries in the global south; low- and middle-income countries. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the United Nations set out 17 goals with a multitude of targets. Many of these relate to transport, and TRL’s work directly contributes to achieve the safety and climate related transport goals. TRL is a global centre of excellence in transport and innovative mobility solutions. We have an internationally recognised team of scientists, researchers and consulta

Abstract:
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were established by the United Nations in 2015 as a call to action for individuals, teams, projects, organisations, and industries. The UK is at the forefront of delivering the 2030 agenda for sustainable development (HM Government, 2019). The practice of sustainability involves understanding the ways individuals and teams in projects and organisations respond to the sustainability targets set nationally and internationally. There remains little empirical research exploring the ways in which sustainability is interpreted and practiced by sustainability

Abstract:
With five years remaining to reach the year 2030, only 17% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been achieved. Due to Multinational Enterprises’ (MNEs) considerable influence on the global economy and their impact on global sustainability, it is important to examine how MNEs contribute to the SDG agenda. Available literature in this domain acknowledges a lack of knowledge about the extent to which MNEs implement SDGs in their operations. To fill this gap, we juxtapose academic and practice literature to uncover actual engagements and disengagements of MNEs with SDGs. We synthesize
