Abstract:
An important research target is improving the health benefits of traditional Mediterranean, durum wheat-based foods using innovative raw materials. In this study, we characterised wholemeal flours obtained from a traditional durum wheat cv. Svevo, two innovative durum wheat varieties (Svevo-High Amylose and Faridur), the naked barley cv. Chifaa and the elite lentil line 6002/ILWL118/1-1, evaluating them for targeted phytochemicals, untargeted metabolomics fingerprints and antioxidant capacity. To this aim, individual phenolic acids, flavonoids, tocochromanols and carotenoids were identified and quantified through HPLC-DAD, and the antioxidant capacities of both the extracts and whole meals were detected by ABTS assays. An untargeted metabolomics fingerprinting of the samples was conducted through NMR spectroscopy. Results showed that the innovative materials improved phytochemical profiles and antioxidant capacity compared to Svevo. In particular, Svevo-HA and Faridur had higher contents of ferulic and sinapic acids, β-tocotrienol and lutein. Moreover, Chifaa is a rich source of phenolic acids, β-tocopherols, lutein and zeaxanthin whereas lentil of flavonoids (i.e., catechin and procyanidin B2). The NMR profiles of Svevo-HA and Faridur showed a significant reduction of sugar content, malate and tryptophan compared to that of Svevo. Finally, substantial differences characterised the lentil profiles, especially for citrate, trigonelline and phenolic resonances of secondary metabolites, such as catechin-like compounds. Overall, these results support the potential of the above innovative materials to renew the health value of traditional Mediterranean durum wheat-based products.

Abstract:
Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) is typically used to produce pasta. In some parts of the world, it is used to make bread but with inferior loaf volume and texture compared with common wheat bread. This study describes the effect on technological properties of pasta and bread made from durum wheat cv. Svevo (recurrent parent (S), HMW-GS null, 7+8) and two isogenic genotypes carrying pairs of additional subunits 5+10 (S 5+10) or 2+12 (S 2+12), normally present at the Glu-D1 locus in bread wheat. The semolina was re-ground to flour, mixed in various proportions with bakers flour and used to prepare loaves. The dough properties of the S 5+10 line were markedly different from Svevo, having over-strong, stable dough, low wet gluten and elasticity; S 2+12 also displayed stronger dough. Pasta prepared from these genotypes showed lower cooked firmness (adjusted for protein differences), ranked Svevo > S 5+10 = S 2+12. There were no other differences in pasta cooking quality. Bread loaf volume and loaf score decreased as more bakers flour was replaced by durum flour, but the decline varied with the genetic material and dosage. The greatest reduction in loaf volume occurred using S 5+10 and the least with S 2+12, which was similar to Svevo. Bake score was reduced with S 5+10 only. The best loaf was made using Svevo. This work shows that it is possible to manipulate the processing properties of pasta and durum–bread-wheat blends by altering the glutenin subunit composition. This represents an efficient tool to finely manipulate gluten quality in durum wheat.

Abstract:

My research, which uses the methods of comparative literature, is based on the concept of ‘world literature’ developed by Durisin; he supports the opportunity to pursue studies on the development and influence developed by Bloom from whom the comparison between different literatures can be done even in the absence of relations. Therefore, the comparison between Italo Svevo and Yi Sang, between Italian and Korean literature can be a fruitful issue to be addressed by this hermeneutical approach, even if there is not any direct connection between two authors. The intent of this thesis will be offered some further reflection on the historical significance of the presence of Svevo and Yi Sang in the culture of their country in this century, on the live value permanently of their shocking discovery (especially in the field of arts), on the ray of hope that their ‘message’ still leaves open, through the theme of psychoanalysis; the discovery is the condition of sick of our time; and the hope is a kind of salvation that could come from a painful duty as the need for continuous and ruthless self, which brings the man within the limits of a clear awareness of the importance of his being ‘sick’, so as to arrange an understanding and management criticism of reality, through a careful patrol of its interior, with/without self pretend.

Abstract:
A breakthrough novel specially regarding its incorporation of psychoanalysis into literature , La coscienza di Zeno, by Italo Svevo, is also the masterpiece of an author placed in many intersections: he wrote from the boundaries of different cultures; in an adopted language; during the transition of two centuries; amid changes at the political and economical settings of Europe; and through the transformation of ideas and the narrative. This study aims to gather elements to better relate La coscienza to the complex intelectual environment of the late 19th century (marked by the conflict and the coexistence of scientism and irrationalism, positivism and pessimism), as well to the tradition of european novel. To this purpose, it benefits from the literary and sociohistorical criticism, and from Svevos articles and essays.

Abstract:
Feeling himself a misfit in the world, the svevian protagonist apprehends it through devices (art, writing, drugs, and so on) which contribute to turn him away from it. He perceives reality as a plot to carry him into a struggle for life, therefore finally towards death. His way of protecting himself consists in the annihilation of all desire - which is made easier to the protagonist of Svevo's third novel by his age - and in the contemplation through writing, thereby finally mastering reality, creating by expression a less crude one from which death is banished

Abstract:
On the one hand, the comparison of the Goethean utopias and Weltanschauung with the various modes of expression, in the works of fictions of Robert Musil and Italo Svevo, of the crisis of the European consciousness of the beginning of the XXth century and the meeting, in particular, between the golden age of the "happy" novel of formation that the work of Goethe embodies and the indetermination which characterizes the works of Svevo or Musil, allow to measure the evolution of both the conception of the individual and the process of individuation as well as to sound the nature of the new stakes which accompany the permanence of concerns such as the questions of the Me, the fate and the chance, the morality or the aesthetics. On the other hand, it is a question of observing how the ideals and the mythical fantasies (Faustian temptations, desire for absolute knowledge, ideal community, myth of the primitive androgyne) which already live in the Goethean spirituality find a place in the crepuscular context of the European crisis of the individuality or in the literary representation of a world in decline, without escaping however the lucid and ironic character of the respective styles of Musil and Svevo

Abstract:
Although rewarded by a minor fortune than that which occurred to the novels, Svevo’s plays are a determinant parenthesis of his literary career: in fact, the writer has left thirteen commedies, distributed over a biographical arch which extends from 1880, the year of Ariosto governatore, up to, with La rigenerazione, the years immediately preceding his death. Consider, too, that the theater was a passion that accompanied Svevo for the whole of life, both as a frequenter of shows in Italy and abroad, both as a critic for the most important newspapers in Trieste. For these reasons, it seemed appropriate in this research back on a theme - that of Svevo’s plays - less regarded by critics. In the first section of the thesis, entitled Svevo e il teatro, after a short outline of the criticism and of the history of representations, we tried to delineate the borders of the relationship that joined Svevo to the world of the stage. Abstract:
AbstractCommon wheat is a hexaploid species crop that is widely recognized as an important staple food crop. The establishment of a gold standard reference genome sequences of the well-studied CHINESE SPRING, and its progenitors (including Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccoides accession Zavitan, Triticum durum accession Svevo, Triticum urartu, Aegilops tauschii), in the last 5 years has dramatically promoted our understanding of wheat genome diversity and evolution through the resequencing of collections of wheat and its progenitors. In this chapter, we review progress in the analysis and interpretation of genome‑based studies of wheat focusing on geographic genome differentiation, interspecies gene flow, haplotype blocks, and gene diversity in breeding. We also consider approaches for efficiently discovering and integrating the genes and genome variations, hidden in Genebank collections, into wheat breeding programs.

Abstract:
The present work aims to address the role that psychology plays within literary works starting from a "critical" reading aimed at understanding and recognizing the psychological and in some works also psychopathological traits present within the texts. Our goal will be to present the conscious and unconscious aspects of the various characters and identify the reasons that prompted the author to create and analyze certain psychological issues and certain environmental situations. The methodology that will be used will mainly be that indicated by Professor Antonio Fusco which aims and which tends to enhance the contribution of the Author's conscious Ego, of the emotional centers and of the unconscious contents of the mind following in part the line of the psychiatrist Silvano Arieti who in one of his main works illustrates the concept of tertiary thinking and sees it as a synthesis of unconscious, endoceptual and conceptual elements [1]. The aspects that will allow you to better understand the facets of a literary work will be reading, knowledge of the author's biography and identifying with the characteristic features of the characters. On the relationship between mind, art, literature and psychoanalysis over time we have had numerous contributions from not only Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung, but also many other authors. Just think of the various writers who have dealt with very important psychological and psychoanalytic themes through their novels; in the present work we will limit our attention to a psychological investigation of the work Zeno's conscience by Italo Svevo. Through the analysis of the characters and their inner life, it will be our task to be able to make the reader identify completely with the life described by the authors of the literary works. In this perspective, the psychologist will try to work alongside the traditional literary critic with the sole propose of providing a further humble investigative contribution. In conclusion, it can be said that the thread that binds psychology to many literary works is very thin.

Abstract:

Abstract:
In earlier work, we observed different patterns of disease distribution in the aortic arches of apolipoprotien E (apoE)-deficient C57BL/6 (B6) and 129/SvEv (129) mouse strains [1]. In the relatively young mice (6 mo old), fatty plaques are seen mainly in the aortic root area, extending into the right innominate artery (RIA), with very little plaque in the more distal aortic arch in the B6 strain. However, in the 129 strain, plaques are found more in the inner curvature of the aortic arch but less in the sinus area than in B6 strain (Fig. 1).
