Abstract:
As a first step in firmly establishing laparoscopic hepatectomy, we introduce a porcine model of laparoscopic partial hepatectomy. This procedure has been successfully performed under the normal-pressure or low-pressure pneumoperitoneum condition supported by the full-thickness abdominal wall lifting technique. An ultrasonic dissector combined with electrocautery, newly developed by Olympus Optical Corporation (Japan) was effectively utilized in facilitating safe and smooth incisions into the liver parenchyma. Although indications for this procedure seem to be limited only to peripheral lesion

This study was to evaluate the efficiency of new device (heat gun) for liver surgery. This instrument is firstly introduce to the surgery to control bleeding during tissue dissection.Eighteen rabbits aged between 3-4 months weighted between 1.5- 2 kg from both sex were used in this experiment. The rabbits were divided into three groups. First group (A) underwent partial hepatectomy by heat gun to posterior left lobe of liver and second group (B) underwent partial hepatectomy by using suturing of severed posterior left lobe of liver served as positive control . The third group (C) underwent lap

Abstract:
Von Willebrand's disease protects pigs from developing cyclic or permanent coronary thrombosis (C/P-Th) following experimentally induced stenosis and injury (S/I) in an open chest anesthetized pig (Nichols et al, Circ Res., 1986; 59:1526). To confirm that this protection is related specifically to absence of von Willebrand factor (vWF), an IgG kappa monoclonal antibody (MAb) to purified porcine vWF was produced in mice. MAb inhibited platelet aggregation by ristocetin and botrocetin, but not ADP, thrombin, or collagen. MAb was infused into seven normal pigs. Bleeding times (BT) in all pigs wer
