Abstract:
An arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is a kind of passive wavelength router, and it is the most promising technology for developing large optical switches. However, AWGs have poor scalability, and using small AWGs to construct a large switch has been done in many prior works. A novel AWG-based switch called ASA (AWG, Space switching, AWG) that does not use wavelength converters has been proposed. It can expand the switch size from N to N2 by using N × N AWGs. In this paper, we generalize the ASA switch by using only N × N AWGs, N × N space switches, and N wavelengths such that the switch size is

This paper presents a novel design of single-pole four-throw (SP4T) RF-MEMS switch employing both capacitive and ohmic switches. It is designed on high-resistivity silicon substrate and has a compact area of 1.06 mm2. The series or ohmic switches have been designed to provide low insertion loss with good ohmic contact. The pull-in voltage for ohmic switches is calculated to be 7.19 V. Shunt or capacitive switches have been used in each port to improve the isolation for higher frequencies. The proposed SP4T switch provides excellent RF performances with isolation better than 70.64 dB and insert

Microwave and millimeter wave switch matrices are essential components in telecommunication systems. These matrices enhance satellite capacity by providing full and flexible interconnectivity between the received and transmitted signals and facilitate optimum utilization of system bandwidth. Waveguide and semiconductor technology are two prominent candidates for the realizing such types of switch matrices. Waveguide switches are dominant in high frequency applications of 100 ? 200 GHz and in high power satellite communication. However, their heavy and bulky profile reinforces the need

Information riskerar därför att upptäckas för sent med en åtgärd som blir reaktiv. The advance of internet applications, such as video streaming, big data and cloud computing, is reshaping the telecommunication and internet industries. Bandwidth demands in datacentres have been boosted by these emerging data-hungry internet applications. Regarding inter- and intra-datacentre communications, fine-grained data need to be exchanged across a large shared memory space. Large-scale high-speed optical switches tend to use a rearrangeably non-blocking architecture as this limits the number of switching elements required. 碩士
國立臺灣大學
電信工程學研究所
95
In this thesis, we propose and implement a novel high speed switch named NTU-V switch which is based on multi-plane cross-bar switch fabric. This switch has low complexity and the ability to handle variable length packets asynchronously. In addition, our switch will also support the multicast. The concept of modular design is embedded into the architecture of NTU-V Switch. Therefore NTU-V Switch has great scalability in port count and line-rate. Simulation results show that this switching architecture can eliminate head-of-line blocking (HOL blocking) effect.

Moore's Law has helped Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) scale continuously in speed, capacity and energy efficiency, allowing the integration of ever-larger systems into a single FPGA chip. This brings challenges to the productivity of developers in leveraging the sea of FPGA resources. Higher level of design abstractions and programming models are needed to improve the design productivity, which in turn require memory architectural supports on FPGAs. While previous efforts focus on computation-centric applications, we take a bandwidth-centric approach in designing memory systems. In par

Abstract:
Apple iPhones do not use the standardized micro-Universal Serial Bus (USB) port but specialized ports for their proprietary Lightning connectors. However, in October 2018, Apple’s vice-president of hardware engineering John Ternus announced the switch to USB-C for the new generation of iPads from 2019. Apple iPhone is expected to follow suit. This marks the end to a long battle over port standardization for personal computers within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The change came about due to a push from the European Commission for industry to agree on a universally proprietary free standard. This chapter documents how states have been increasingly involved in steering intellectual property rights (IPR) policies within standards-developing organization (SDO) fora. Civil society too has had a role to play from the stance of open source solutions to interoperability, albeit with less and varying degrees of success across the fora. The chapter focuses on how state pressure has counterbalanced historic corporate pressure for preserving patent protection.

Abstract:
In this chapter, the authors describe and review some of the recent research on WBS, including Multi-Granular optical cross-connect (MG-OXC) architectures that can switch traffic at different granularities. The authors focus on the dynamic online WBS problem, and describe and analyze two reconfigurable MG-OXC architectures in terms of their port count and blocking probabilities. Based on the analyses, the authors then propose a novel dynamic graph-based waveband assignment algorithm in conjunction with adaptive routing. The proposed algorithm employs ant optimization techniques to reduce ports and blocking probability in the network with online traffic in a distributed manner. The authors use simulation experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the authors’ approach under various parameters such as varying number of ants, varying the number of routes and the wavelength assignment algorithm. The authors’ simulation results show that their graph-based waveband assignment algorithm combined with adaptive routing can achieve a superior performance when compared to other schemes. Furthermore, the authors’ studies shows that even with limited resources, WBS can achieve a low blocking probability and port savings.

Abstract:
In this paper, the authors propose a meta-heuristic for intrusion detection system by scenario, inspired by the protection system of social bees to their hive. This approach is based on a specialized multi-agent system where the authors give limited responsibility to each guard bee agent: to secure only one port. This specialization aims to better exploit the training set and the hardware and software performance. The authors start this paper with a short introduction where they show the importance of IT security. Then they give a little insight into the state of the art, before starting the essential part of a scientific paper: “Our Approach,” where they explain the natural model. Finally, they simplify their model in a modelling table to share their vision and philosophy to switch from natural model to artificial model.
