Abstract:
The methods of studying the global properties of dynamic systems based on the construction of a symbolic image of this system are considered. A symbolic image is an oriented graph, which is an approximation to a dynamical system and is constructed by discretizing the phase space. The symbolic dynamics generated by the oriented graph reflects the dynamics of the system under study. The symbolic image is a tool of theoretical research and the basis of computer-oriented methods for the numerical study of nonlocal properties of dynamical systems.

Abstract:
The monograph examines geopolitics from the point of view of filling its content with the meanings of geopolitical culture, in which not only geographical, but also historical images occupy a prominent place, and linguistic constructions allow us to attach a symbolic meaning to established concepts. Geopolitical culture, like any other, acts as a tool for processing consciousness and transforming space. The space itself, from the perspective of studies of geopolitical culture, turns into a multidimensional model that simultaneously combines real objects and elements related to the world of geo

The Gulag remains one of the key symbols of twentieth-century mass political violence. Thanks to recent archive-based investigations, we now understand the scope of the system, variations between different camp complexes, and modalities of the use of forced labour of convicts. At the same time, the work of historicizing the Gulag and systematically evaluating its position within the global history of repression is still to be done. Exploring the emergence of this vast Soviet system of concentration camps in long-term perspective, this book aims to inscribe this process within global histories

Times of Mourning: Bereavement, Clinical Challenge, and Subjectivity works around the homonymous property of the word duelo in Spanish, which means both grief and duel. Adriana Bauab argues that the mourning process is a challenge and an opportunity for the subject to recompose their symbolic universe, recovering the function of lack that can ignite desire. Citing multiple clinical examples, Bauab proposes new tools for the treatment of grief.

This chapter focuses on types of kōlam designs. The basic categories are katta (squares) and pulli (dots). The highly ritualized forms are the navagraha (nine heavenly bodies, including the five planets) and yantras. The symbolic meanings of geometric, figurative, and landscape kōlams, whether they are itheegam (traditional) and nagareegam (modern), are discussed. Kōlam-making tools are explained, such as the traditional personal notebooks and printed pamphlets and more modern stencils and plastic stick-on decals. Contributions focus on three intimately related areas: the impact of diplomatic protocol on literary production; the role of texts in diplomatic practice, particularly those that operated as ‘textual ambassadors’; and the impact of changes in the literary sphere on diplomatic culture. A Cultural History of Mathematicsin the Early Modern Age covers the period from 1450 to 1687, a time marked by increasing interplay between science and society. Classical writing on science which had been lost and Arabic thinking which was new both percolated into the West, fertilizing new ideas and giving birth to what has been called the “Scientific Revolution”. From artisanal workshops to academic institutions, mathematicians thrived. They claim that the zeal for providing layered interpretation and thick description typical of the original approach deserves to be revitalized in contemporary accounts of, and approaches to, cultural life in organizing.
