Full textConsidered as a neans of information on trade union matters for african workers, the writen press of the colonial era exercise some influence in the pewer struggle through its laudatory comments or critics or moreso through the fate it reserves workers. This study deals with the socio-professional groups comprising salaried workers in the public, mixed and private sectors. It is supported by newpapers bearing general information and by union bulletins printed in the ivory coast between 1944 and 1958. The approach is a reflection on press contribution within the framework of trade union claims and its method is a precise one : inventory of existing newspapers ; inventory of articles dealing with trade union problems published in these papers and which constitutes the corpus ; analysis of the thematic content of press coverage of these problems. It can also be considered as a contribution to studies of different themes concerning the press in the ivory coast

He was chosen by the capitouls and stayed under their power in spite of the creation of the "procureur-syndic" post 1690. His living conditions were not in relation with the services he gave. He defended the interests of the city. He delivered requisitions during the assemblies of the "bourgeois concil" and during trials. This powers were sometimes in conflicts with whose of the royal juridictions. This leading concil officier engaged the responsability of the city and stood for it by the provincial and royal institutions

Full textThis study it aims at to search and to understand the social phenomenon of the Representation of the Workers in the Workstation-RLT in the region of the Great ABC. Initially, through a literature revision, to trace a similar description of the plant commission and organizations for the world, being observed practical its in these countries and approaching participative administration and the European socialism and its self-determination. In a sequence to approach the commission of plant in Brazil, to tell the history of the first commission of official plant installed in the country, in the plant of the Ford in São Bernardo do Campo. It follows study of the tabulation of effected research of field, with emphasis to the following aspects: it of the RLT for the companies is evidenced practical; it consists RLT through employees indicated for the workers, companies or for the labor unions; it is regulated RLT through statute; it is accomplished participation and influence of the union of the workers in the RLT; the which interests take care of the RLT, companies, labor unions or workers. The methodology to be used is qualitative, is followed of research of field carried through in group, with interlacement of these data with the professional experience of the author. The conclusion of the study is that the RLT is not much practised, its members is indicated by the workers and respective Unions, takes advantage the regulated RLT, having participation and influence of the labor Unions. With priority the RLT takes care of the interests of the companies, followed of the interests of the labor Unions and finally, the interests of the workers.(AU)
Este estudo visa pesquisar e compreender o fenômeno social da Representação dos Trabalhadores no Local de Trabalho na região do Grande ABC. Inicialmente, através de uma revisão de literatura, traçar um histórico da comissão de fábrica e organizações semelhantes pelo mundo, observando sua prática nestes países e abordando administração participativa e o socialismo europeu e a sua autodeterminação. Na sequência abordar a comissão de fábrica no Brasil, narrar a história da primeira comissão de fábrica oficial instalada no país, na fábrica da Ford em São Bernardo do Campo. Segue estudo de tabulação de pesquisa de campo efetuada, com ênfase aos seguintes aspectos: constata-se a prática da RLT pelas empresas; constitui-se a RLT através de empregados indicados pelos trabalhadores, empresas ou pelos sindicatos de trabalhadores; regulamenta-se a RLT através de estatuto; efetiva-se a participação e influência do sindicato dos trabalhadores na RLT; a quais interesses atende a RLT, empresas, sindicatos de trabalhadores ou trabalhadores. A metodologia a ser utilizada é qualitativa, seguida de pesquisa de campo realizada em grupo, com entrelaçamento destes dados com a experiência profissional do autor. A conclusão do estudo é que a RLT é pouco praticada, seus membros são indicados pelos trabalhadores e respectivos sindicatos, prevalece a RLT regulamentada, havendo participação e influência dos sindicatos de trabalhadores. A RLT atende prioritariamente aos interesses das empresas, seguido dos interesses dos sindicatos de trabalhadores e por último, os interesses dos trabalhadores.(AU)

La question syndicale, depuis 1978, occupe les prémières pages des journeaux brésiliens pour la nouveauté que présente la pratique actuelle des syndicalistes par rapport a celle du passé. Les travailleurs des villes et des campagnes s'organisent pour le changement des directions syndicales, des pratiques et des objectifs de lutte du sybdicalisme traditionel; des Centrales Syndicales sont créés représentant de différentes perspectives et conceptions; um "nouveau syndicalisme" se construit, defini en opposition à la structure syndicale encore en place. "Participation" et "combativité" synthétisent les revendications qui développent le "nouveau": "ad intra", en opposant démocratisation et structure horizontale à la structure "verticale en place; "ad extra", en opposant une attitude de combat permanent face aux intérêts antagoniques au syndicalisme de- conciliation des classes consacré par la structure traditionelle. Découpant, pour son analyse, une région de la campagne dans l'Etat de Paraíba, l'auteur cherche à identifier y. les conditions sociales qui rendent possible le changement du syndicalisme . rural ansi que les facteurs de continuité des formes traditionelles. L'analyse considère les différents acteurs qui jouent dans le "champ de forces" du syndicalisme de Paraíba. Mettant le focus sur la naissance du "nouveau syndicalisme". considère de façon plus spécifique les "oppositions syndicales" qui - dans la période 1980/88 - ont lutté pour le réaliser, ainsi que leurs propositions, leur "leadership" et les forces qui les soutienent. Finalement l'auteur se détient sur l'analyse d'un cas pris comme exemple réprésentatif de la problematique abordée. A la conclusion de l'étude, que met en énvidence le fait que les changements se font sans des ruptures brusques avec ce qui existait déjà par la force de la continuité institucionelle, sont indiqués les principaux dilèmes et défi posés, à présent, au "nouveau syndicalisme".
A questão sindical, desde 78 ocupa as manchetes nacionais pelas novidades que apresenta em relação ao passado. Os trabalhadores da cidade e do campo se organizam para a mudança dasdireções sindicais, das práticas e das bandeiras de luta do sindicalismo tradicional; constituem-se as Centrais Sindicais enucleando diferentes perspectivas e concepções sindicais; constrói-se um "novo sindicalismo" que se define por oposição à estrutura sindical ainda vigente. "Participação" e "Combatividade" sintetizam as revindicações que desenvolvem "o novo": "ad intra", contrapondo democratização e estrutura horizontal à atual estrutura vertical; "ad extra" opondo uma atitude de combate, frente aos interesses antagônicos, ao sindicalismo de conciliação de classes consagrado pela estrutura sindical vigente. No recorte de uma determinada região do campo paraibano, a autora busca identificar as condições sociais que viabilizam a mudança do sindicalismo no campo e os fatores de continuidade das formas tradicionais. A análise considera os diversos atores em jogo no "campo de forças" do sindicalismo paraibano em sua atuação recente. Tendo como enfoque o surgimento do "novo sindicalismo" estuda especificamente as "oposições sindicais" que no período I980-88 - lutaram para realizá-lo, bem como suas propostas, suas lideranças e apoios. Finaliza analisando concretamente um caso considerado mais representativo da problemática abordada. A conclusão do estudo, que evidencia como as mudanças vem se desenvolvendo sem bruscas rupturas com o existente pela força da continuidade institucional, são colocados os principais dilemas e desafios com os quais se defronta hoje o "novo sindicalismo".

Full textThis dissertation examines the co-construction of the relationship to work and unionism among teachers in the Quebec school sector who are members of a local union affiliated with the Fédération autonome de l'enseignement (FAE). On the one hand, it poses the problem of the "impasse" of North American unionism (MacDonald 2014) from the perspective of a metamorphosis of the "spirit of unionism" (Goldthorpe et al 1972). On the other hand, it operates a dialogue between Christopher McAll's (1999, 2009) conceptions of citizenship and Rolande Pinard's (2000, 2008; 2018) thesis on the mutation of the social-political meaning (worker or trade union) in favour of the managerial invention of the employment category. By mobilizing the concept of relationship to work and the comprehensive approach of the life-course and career perspective (Côté 2013; Demazière 2019), it (re)constructs the work and union experiences of the teachers met in order to identify the meanings that they attribute to their work and to unionism. The analysis of the research materials partially confirms Pinard's thesis. It shows that the employment category plays a decisive role in the participants understanding of unionism. Moreover, by looking exclusively from "below", i.e. from the experiences of non-elected members (MNEs) and delegates (PDs), the analysis in this dissertation also makes it possible to grasp the transversality and singularity of the events, activities and interpersonal encounters that shape, in space and time, the relationship to work and trade unionism of the persons surveyed, which are traversed by power relationships (inside and between trade union) as well as three socio-semantic universes: 1) related to family; 2) management/expert thought and 3) religion. Three figures have been thought to illustrate the social situations and realities that modulate the relationship to unionism of the teachers interviewed: 1) that of the near-ghost union and the notion of union illusion ; 2) that of the union-manager and 3) that of the taylorized union.

Full textIn order to become more flexible, the public sector has opened the way to new principles inspired by the private sector: the marketisation of services (Fairbrother et Poynter, 2001). Our research aims to better understand the factors which affect the participation of trade unions when marketisation is introduced in the delivery of local government services. To do so, we have decided to compare local government case studies in two different countries, Québec City and Edinburgh in Scotland, to help us better understand the interactions between local and national influences. Our hypothesis is that local trade union power resources and the employer’s strategy will influence trade union participation in the management of local government service delivery, regardless of the national context. The main findings of our research suggest that power resources and employer stategy both directly affect local trade union involvement in the management of local government service delivery. While power resources help to bolster the trade union’s power, the employer strategy can either encourage or impare trade union participation. Our results also raised differences relating to the national contexts of the UK and Québec which affected local trade union participation : « Best Value » legislation in the UK and « Code du Travail » legislation which frame collective agreements and industrial relations in Québec. We consider that future research on the subject is necessary in order to verify the current models on national industrial relations and to develop new comparative theories.

Full textThis thesis analyzes the multilevel mobilisation of the Metallo’s local union 9490 in Alma during the lockout by multinational company Rio Tinto Alcan that took place during winter 2012. During the collective bargaining process to renew the collective agreement, the Union is put on lockout. Australo-british multinational company Rio Tinto had bought Canadian multinational company Alcan in the mid-2000 and wanted to score a return on its investment. The local union affiliated with FTQ’s Métallos and the international union, the United Steelworkers, wanted to maintain its working conditions and keep the good jobs in the region. The union put together an international strategic campaign to counter the enormous resources of the employer. This thesis examines the impact of this international strategic campaign on the fight of a local union with its multinational employer and its impacts on labor relations.
