Abstract:

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the main questions of Russian speech: its creation, initial units and their perception. It consequently demarcates linguistic spheres of language and speech and their units. It is reasonable to differentiate the study of language and the study of speech as two linguistic disciplines distincting in their nature, character and units’ designation. The author identifies units of oral and written forms in speech, and its minimal non-discrete unit - syntagma. The topicality of the article lies in theoretical and practical meaning of a syntagma as an initial speech unit, its role in forming and developing all types of speech activity. The aim of the article is to define the real structure of speech and the basic unit of its creation. It is proved that the real structure and initial speech components are better revealed due to its author’s delimitation. It is asserted that intonation for the speaker is a way to interpret the content, and for the addressees it is a means of its identification: the speaker clearly differentiates all initial components of his speech with the pauses, and the listeners explicitly understand their meaning. The author of the article correlates written speech units and oral speech units, reveals typological features of syntagmas, demarcates syntagmas according to their form, structure, length, characterizes their relation to speech creation and perception, both oral and written forms. The stipulation of syntagmas activity in the speech is determined. Attention is paid to syntagmatic and sentence structures of the text. The pragmatic aspect of syntagma theory is highlighted.

Abstract:
The article examines the social factors influence on prosodic manifestation of syntactic and macrosyntactic units. The data collected during suprasegmental analysis of spontaneous speech are used, which are directly related to the syntactic level, namely: the average length of a phrase in words and in syntagmas and the average length of a syntagma in phonetic words, as well as parameters associated with the design of the whole text: the number of composition blocks in the text, their length in phrases, the length of the whole text in phrases and words. The results of statistical modeling of the influence of the factors "age", "type of education", "level of education" and "gender" clearly indicate that the factors "type of education" and "gender" significantly influence the variation of syntactic and macrosyntactic parameters of an oral text. The factor "type of education" significantly affects the number of phrases in the text and the length of the text block in phrases – both parameters are significantly higher for the speakers who specialize in Humanities compared to those who specialize in Sciences. The length of the syntagma depends on the speaker’ gender – syntagmas produced by male speakers are longer.

Abstract:
This essay discusses Achebe’s delineation of characters, events and use of language in Anthills of the Savannah (AS) as symbolic and prophetic syntagmas which later manifested in some real life personalities and socio-political phenomena in Africa and Nigeria, the setting of the novel. The primary source of data is Anthills of the Savannah. Secondary source and the internet were also consulted for the theoretical background and literature review. Grammatical structures and literary features were extracted and analyzed to show their associative and symbolic links with real life events which occurred after 1987, the year AS was published. The symbolic and prophetic syntagmas identified and their manifestations are presented with annotations in tables. The essay established that Achebe uses syntagmas of utterances, events, settings and characters to symbolize and foreshadow imminent events in the novel and socio-political occurrences in Nigeria and Africa, a feat which stands him out as a novelist with great prophetic insight and clairvoyance. Keywords: Achebe, AS, syntagma, prophetic, symbolic. character

Abstract:

Abstract:
The article deals with the definition of syntagma and relative syntagmas in Azerbaijani and English languages. At the same time, they are researched as syntactic units of linguistics. They are classified according to their types. Also, their meaning is spoken of widely in the article. It also talks about the semantic and stylistic features of syntagma as a unit of syntax. Syntagma is investigated as a syntactic unit of linguistics. Also, it comprehensively highlights its importance. This unit consisting of two members of the combined words is used in the functions of determining and being determined. It is explained as a semantic-syntactic event, and it studied and developed its semantic features. Signs perform the system of approaches in the form of syntagmatics and paradigmatics. Syntagmatic approaches are based on distributive potentials of signs. Their valence, but paradigmatic approaches are based on the selection of definite element of paradigm signs. Thus, this is the reason Saussure considers the morphology as the “sphere of paradigmatics”. The syntax is, however, known as the “sphere of syntagmatics”. A notion of “verticality” and “horizontality” exists even in the row of language signs of classic linguistics. Therefore, syntagmatics is explained as a “horizontality”, but paradigmatics as a “verticality”.

Abstract:
The phenomenon of syntactic synonymy in mono- and polypredicative utterances of modern French fiction prose is considered in this article from the standpoint of phenomenology. The phenomenological method of cognition of being and its structures and categories, which is based on the human tendency to study objects of observation in the form they appear in consciousness, is aimed at ontology. It is proved that in the process of learning about being relations mind → language correspond to the first phase of polyoperations of reconstruction of phenomenological organization of the universe; the continuum language → discourse corresponds to the second phase. Three stages of phenomenological construction of synonymic structures at the levels of primary and secondary consciousness are distinguished: 1) destruction and reconstruction of being as the result of observing its structures and categories (primary consciousness (inconscious mental operations)) → sublinguistic schemes (subconscious stratum of secondary consciousness); 2) sublinguistic schemes → primary syntagms and propositions (surface stratum of secondary consciousness); 3)primary syntagms and propositions → secondary reduced, extended and quantitatively equally componental transforms (surface stratum of secondary consciousness) actualized in the form of grammatised and typical or atypical agrammatised functionally transposed and notransposed mono- and polypredicative discourse innovations. The typologies of: а) functionally transposed co(n)textually pertinent structures with linear transposition: with the change of volume, equal quantity of lexical elements or with conversion of components of synonymic structures; and b) notransposed compressed, extended and quantitatively equally componental synonymic co(n)textually adequate transforms of primary syntagms and propositions are established. In the course of analysis of utterances with syntactical synonymy a large number of the structures with polysynonymisation at the level of one syntagm or proposition is revealed.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Paris 7, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA070076.

Full text
Abstract:
Nominals in Chinese show several interesting phenomena that fascinate linguists working on the generative grammar. Among these characteristics, die use of individual classifiers and the DE element are especially important. These questions have been discussed in existing literature, but one can hardly find studies which cover the whole range of phenomena in question in order to propose a coherent solution in formai syntax. This dissertation intends to carry out such a research, by paying a special attention to the numeral construction and the role of die DE element in the XP-DE-YP construction among other issues. This dissertation is grounded within the generative grammar framework. More specifically, die phenomena will be studied in the "linearization" perspective in Kayne (1994)'s sense, fundamental work that considers the relation between linear order and syntactical hierarchy. The research is organized as follows: die Chapter I is dedicated to a complete presentation of different linearization theories and their evolutionary path. This part will not put emphasis on 'Chinese data in order to keep a more general and theoretical background; die Chapter II is concerned about die numeral construction, the main tasks are to find an appropriate syntactical representation of the construction and to account for phenomena that are semantics-related such as the distinction of count and massif nouns and the interpretation of singular and plural; die Chapter III will focus on the DE element and the three following structures- complementary propositions, deverbals and relatives; the Chapter IV will investigate die syntax of non-nominal syntactical categories in Chinese in order to complete the studies in the Chapters II and III. Some conclusions regarding the linearization previously obtained will also be reconsidered more profoundly within die Minimalist Program framework

Avezard-Roger, Cécile. "Description syntaxique du syntagme verbal en breton : approche dynamique." Paris 5, 2004. http://www.theses.fr/2004PA05H004.

Full text
Abstract:
This piece of work consists in a syntactic description of how verbs function in Breton. It relies on functional linguistics and uses the theories developed by André Martinet and his followers. This study of the verb is organised around four main axes. First, in the chapter dedicated to predication, the distinction between connective syntax and nucleus syntax is established and a list of the linguistic means used in Breton is presented within the frame of connective syntax. The different verb units constituing the verbal system are then singled out. The opportunity is seized to take a stand on some difficult point linked to the verb such as "verbal particles" (traditional terminology), the status of the imperative form and the identification of classes of parasynthems in Breton. The third part deals with the various syntactic constructions with a verbal nucleus existing in Breton and presents a typology of the "verb structures" in niew of composition of the verb phrase. The last chapter is devoted to syntactic functions. This analysis is based on an oral corpus collected from speakers from several areas which allows to draw dynamic components related to dialect variation

Abstract:
This PHD thesis offers a synchronic description of Reunion Creole's determiner system as well as an analysis of the interpretation of its noun phrases. The thesis includes new data from two kinds of sources: a small collection of oral corpora, and grammaticality/felicity judgments. We investigate the distribution of the different kinds of NP, the morphosyntactic status of pre- and postnominal elements, the number system, and the expression of definiteness in Reunion Creole. We analyze a distinction operated by three different forms (bare NPs; lo+N;N+-la), that endorse distinct roles in a definiteness split similar to the one described by Ebert (1971) and we explain this split within Löbner’s (1985 ; 2011; 2015) theory of definiteness

Halimi, Mehdi. "La position de l'adjectif épithète dans le groupe nominal en français et en albanais." Paris, INALCO, 2001. http://www.theses.fr/2001INAL0004.

Full text
Abstract:
Did the Germanic languages fix the position of the adjective epithet before the substantive, did Albanian place it behind, then why French he would not make it ? This position in French being always variable, soon before and soon behind the substantive (of course, it is not valid for all), small problem pose to the French and to the French-speaking strangers. It is for it that we undertook such a research that is especially important that she/it also touches Albanian. From there, it comes out again that the comparative method is the one that predominated our research. A small preview on the source of these two languages appeared us indispensable. We also had need to really know the used terminology. The discovery of the ways of adjectives epithets, used to try to find the reasons of the positions different of this adjective in French as well as the concordances of Albanian on that point. These adjectives can be of the relational, of colour, of shape, of nominal or verbal origin ; they can be also monosyllabic or polysyllabic. Following their adherence in these divisions, their sometimes offer different senses in relation to the position that they occupy by the substantive. It appears us that the adverb also has a some role to play. Most adjectives epithets always have a fuzzy position in French, what makes that the anteposition and the postposition are always present, with a predominance rather important of the second. It doesn't prevent to have some adjectives epithets with a stationary place close to a substantive, either before, either behind ; coordinated juxtaposed either. All it made that this question has been called by specialists all domains, especially by the linguists. This problem has been landed of different sides. Of the linguists, of the old centuries, rather made it of a point of view unscientific, of others, more recent, from a structuralist or semantic view point, as well as from a stylistic and pragmatic view point. Does an acceptable solution exist then, to this phenomenon ? For us only one rule of after which we could choose the position of the adjective epithet in French doesn't exist. On the other hand, there are several choices. It is in relation to what we want to say, and in relation to the means that we use to say it, that these choices intervene in turns

Yousfi, Cécile. "La complémentation du nom par un syntagme prépositionnel en anglais contemporain." Paris 4, 2003. http://www.theses.fr/2003PA040218.

Full text
Abstract:
This study is an investigation into noun complementation with a prepositional phrase in contemporary English (for instance "a liking for chocolate"). This subject has been little studied so far, as linguists have been more interested in prepositional verbs, and in the distinction between prepositions and adverbial particles. The purpose of this work is to try to explain why a particular preposition is used after a noun. Is the choice of a preposition arbitrary or does it follow logical rules? We mainly focus on semantic studies, both of the head noun and the preposition, in order to find some patterns of semantic coherence extending over the whole set of occurrences. Moreover, what links can be established between verb complementation and noun complementation? To what extent does the noun inherit its prepositional complementation from the corresponding verb? Indeed, the prepositional phrase can sometimes be common to both verb and noun, but when the preposition differs or when there is no verb corresponding to the noun, then how to account for the selection of the preposition? The thesis also aims at investigating prepositions themselves, showing that some of them seem to incorporate others, in order to reach a higher degree of abstraction. The diachronic and synchronic analyses carried out in this work lead us to study more thoroughly between and over, but also of, which remains a very original preposition. The purpose here is to show that "preconstruction" is a key notion in the study of prepositions

The formation of the sentence, its grammatical structure and the meaning it expresses form the basis for the surface structure. Structural ambiguity has always been the focus of psycholinguists which is also called "sytactic parsing". Parsing affects the auxiliary words and various morphemes used in the sentence and at the same time leads to the deceptive syntactic analysis. Since the deep structure has more meanings and the surface structure is conditioned by the sound of the sentence, the surface and deep structure ambiguity is the V Respublika Elmi Qaynaqlar Konfransının Materialları / 02 noyabr 2021 Materials of the V Republican Conference of Scientific Sources / 02 November, 2021 DOI: https://www.doi.org/10.36719/2663-4619/2021/02/05 6 most reliable form of communication between words in a sentence. Abstract:
This paper presents a rule-based dependency parser for Russian based on bottom-up approach. Its rules are partially rewritten ETAP syntagms, organized into groups that constitute a single pipeline. We demonstrate that such an organization enhances the performance of our parser relative to the ETAP system’s and enables it to successfully process long phrases (more specifically, heavy nominal and prepositional phrases at the current experimental stage of our work).

Abstract:
Climate change is a fact that we face year after year. Although is a common syntagma its manifestation is different for various region of the planet producing not just global, but local anomalies and changes. In order to track these changes, we propose a network model with preferential attachment, vertices representing successive time periods. The test location for our research was Miercurea Ciuc, one of the coldest locations of Romania. We have developed a similarity index including different meteorological parameters such as air temperature, ground temperature, precipitation amount, snow depth and sunshine hours. Using this similarity index for preferential attachment and considering the appearance order of nodes representing periods on time scale we have created a network model which shows the similarities between these periods as they appear in time. Clustering the obtained graph model, we could observe that the created network model at monthly scale clearly shows up some of experienced characteristic at the study location.
