Full textAs part of the development of Na-ion technology, NaFePO4 compound, chemical equivalent of theattractive LiFePO4 material, would be a promising option facing possible lithium shortage. However,olivine-type LiFePO4 and NaFePO4 display different structural and electrochemical behaviors duringcationic insertion. This thesis presents an analysis of the (de)insertion mechanisms of Li+ and Na+ ionswithin olivine-type FePO4 by chemical and electrochemical means. Samples of LiFePO4 weresynthesized by two different methods (hydrothermal and precipitation), then chemically delithiated bydifferent processes. In a first step, structural analysis (XRD) associated with nuclear analyses enabledfollowing the reaction kinetics. We have pointed out that the presence of grain boundaries, resultingfrom the heat treatment, strongly limits the delithiation kinetics. The analysis of the evolution of thecoherency domains enabled us to propose an original "Shrinking Core" type delithiation mechanismwith a core of LiFePO4, observed by HRTEM and STEM-EELS. In a second step, in order to comparechemical and electrochemical mechanisms, insertion and cyclability of Li+ and Na+ were characterizedin lithium and sodium half-cells. Although the electrochemical signature of LiFePO4 and NaFePO4materials is different, the performances in terms of restored capacity or power capability are similar. Finally, electrochemical insertion of Li+ and Na+ in a powder comprising structural defects wascharacterized by operando XRD, during a charge / discharge cycle performed at low rate. Theseanalyses revealed that the cationic co-insertion takes place via a solid solution LixNayFePO4(0

Full textThis study focuses on the study of one of the most promising systems as an alternative to PZT, the Bi0,5Na0,5TiO3 - BaTiO3 - Bi0,5K0,5TiO3 ternary system. The first part of the thesis consists on the solid state synthesis of this system and has allowed a more accurate estimation of the morphotropic phase boundary location. In a second part, we focused this study on the development of BNT powders hydrothermal synthesis. Although various protocols have developed the production of fine and single phased powders, all of them are characterized by the presence of thermally unstable phases in minor quantities but nevertheless sufficient to let appear a strong porosity after sintering. Various washing techniques have been developed to eliminate these metastable phases. A compromise between the quality of the metastable phase elimination and the preservation of the major phase chemical composition must be realized. The densification ratio and piezoelectric properties obtained for these ceramics are widely comparable to the solid route synthesized ones. The BNT - BT cosynthesis study of the 0,935 BNT - 0,065 BT binary composition put in evidence the prerequisite and definitive bismuth titanate Bi12TiO20 precipitation

Full textThis present work reports the hydrothermal synthesis, crystallographic studies, magnetic studies of polyoxovanadoborates and their use as building blocks for a high dimensionnal design. A new family of compounds has been isolated. At low temperatures ferrimagnetic interactions occur which have not been explained due to the lack of information on the localisation of the magnetic centres within the anion. Magnetic studies of V₁₀ and V₆ compounds showed strong and soft interactions. With the cristallographic study, we have applied magnetic models to explain the magnetic behaviour. Strong antiferromagnetic coupling have been showed for the V₁₀ compound and soft antiferromagnetic coupling have been showed for the V₆ compound. Five new compounds have been isolated during this PhD course. We have used ours polyoxoaniond as a building-unit, and five compounds with different dimensions have been obtained. One is without dimension, two are 1-D, and two are 2-D

Full textNanometric powders of BaTiO3 have been prepared by hydrothermal method at 150 and 250°C using BaCl2. 2H2O/TiCl3 or TiO2 as precursors. Ceramics showing 95% of densification are obtained after sintering at 1250°C for 10 and 20 h. These ceramics present a heterogeneous microstructure. The grain size and the grain distribution in the ceramic bulk govern the electrical properties. Thick layers present a relative permittivity higher then 4000 at the curie temperature. La-doped BaTiO3 has been prepared by the oxalate method. The obtained ceramics showed a uniform microstructure. The Curie temperature is displaced to lower temperatures and the relative permittivity increases up to 10000 with increasing La3+ concentration. Ceramics sintered by spark plasma sintering showed electrical properties that are significantly different from those of conventionnally sintered ones. The coprecipitation has been used to synthesize materials based on CaCu3Ti4O12. Three main types of ceramics were obtained. The presence of CuO phase beside the CCT plays an important role for enhancing the dielectric properties
