Full textAmong the faults diagnosis methods, the method of residual filters allows to synthesize filters generating signals ( called residues) that are used for fault detection. In our approach, the residual filters are obtained from reduced observers. The objective of this thesis is to synthesize observers and highlight their application to fault detection for nonlinear systems. This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, two papers were presented. The rst one relates to the unknown input observers for state ane systems modulo an output injection. The proposed approach is a combination of geometric decoupling techniques and nonlinear observers. We have given sufficient conditions with an algorithm for designing an unknown input observer to estimate a part of the state without the knowledge of some inputs. The second contribution consists to characterize the class of nonlinear systems which can be transformed into cascade systems for which an observer can be designed. First, necessary and sufficient theoretical conditions were given, then an algorithm to compute these transformations (diffeomorphisms) was proposed. Finally, the set of all dieomorphisms was characterized by showing that it is an orbit of an action of a particular group on the set of all dieomorphisms. The second step of the thesis deals with the synthesis of a polytopic Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) filter to detect, isolate and estimate multiple sensor faults. The advantage of this lter is to generate two types of residuals : one being sensitive to faults and the other is insensitive. The insensitive residual is used to generate an additional qualitative information of the filter efficiency. The stability of the latter has been performed using Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI)

Full textThe monitoring of industrial and/or embedded systems is a major concern accordingto their increasing complexity and requirements to respect the mission profiles. Detection of anomaliesplays a key role in this context. Fundamentally, model-based detection procedures consist incomparing the true operation of the system with a reference established using a fault-free model. However, the monitored systems often feature nonlinear dynamics which are difficult to be exactlycharacterized. The approach considered in this thesis is to enclose their influence through boundeduncertainties. The propagation of these uncertainties allows the evaluation of thresholds aimingat ensuring a good trade-off between sensitivity to faults and robustness with respect to disturbanceswhile maintaining a reasonable computational complexity. To that purpose, an importantpart of the work adresses the extension of classes of dynamic models with bounded uncertaintiesso that interval observers can be obtained with the related inclusion and stability proofs. Based ona time-varying change of coordinates, LTI, LPV and LTV dynamics are gradually considered tofinally deal with some classes classes of nonlinear continuous dynamics with bounded uncertainties.A transformation of such nonlinear models into LPV models with bounded uncertainties has beenused. A first study on nonlinearities involved in longitudinal flight dynamics is presented. A complementarywork deals with an explicit characterization of measurement noise variability (randombehavior of noise within measurement) in a bounded error context. Combining this data-drivenapproach with a model-driven one using an interval predictor, a promising method for the detectionof faults related to the position of aircraft control surfaces is proposed. In this context, specialattention has been paid to the detection of runaway and jamming of an elevator

Full textThe introduction sets the framework of the research task presented: fault diagnosis on nonlinear systems whose approximate model is obtained by interpolation of linear models: these models being able to be regarded as resulting from a linearization around operating points. The first chapter presents elements of bibliography in the context of systems described by multiple models. The second chapter introduces the contribution of work when an exact decoupling of the faults influence makes it possible to break up the treatment of monitoring into two levels: active operating mode estimation and detection-estimation of the additive faults. The third chapter describes the case where, exact decoupling not being possible anymore due to, in particular, the limited uncertainties introduced into the models, it is necessary to consider a compromise leading to the search of an optimal solution. These final chapters end with an academic example which illustrates the performances of the developed method. The conclusion sums up the elements of the document and introduces some prospects

Full textThis work deals with the development of new technologies of fault tolerant control (FTC), state and sensor/actuator faults estimation for different classes of systems. The algorithm described in this manuscript improve and reduce the conservatism of existing results in the literature. Firstly, we were interested in the synthesis of adaptive observer-based FTC for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) descriptor systems with time-delay in presence of actuator faults. The analysis and design conditions of observer-based FTC are formulated into a set of delay-dependent linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be solved in a single step. Then, an adaptive observer-based FTC strategy is proposed for both T-S descriptor systems and T-S fuzzy systems subject to simultaneous actuator and sensor faults under external disturbances. The last part of this work concerns the issue of the lateral vehicle and rollover dynamics which is approximated by the T-S fuzzy model under the influence of actuator and sensor faults with external disturbances. Using the cone complementarity linearization algorithm, the proposed method offers less restrictive LMI conditions than those established in the literature. The proposed approach is validated in simulation on the Carsim software as an application of the dynamics of the vehicle in presence of sensor, actuator faults and external disturbances

Full textThe main work presented in this document deals with diagnosis and Active Fault Tolerant Control (AFTC) for systems described by multi-models. The first part consists in an Adaptive Filter design through a multi-model representation. The main contribution is an adaptive filter design for fault estimation. The stability is ensured by use of LMI. The second step is the design of polytopic Unknown Inputs Observers (UIO) in multi-models framework. These polytopic UIO allow to consider different distribution matrices. A pole placement is also considered with LMI so as to guarantee a decay-rate of the UIO. AFTC is considered with a FDI scheme which provides an accurate fault magnitude estimation. Two control laws are synthesized : one uses a state feedback and the other one considers an output feedback. These two control laws ensure closed-loop system stability through pole placement in the unit circle despite of multiple actuator failures
