Serum concentrations of total thyroid hormones, thyroid hormone binding proteins, free thyroid hormones and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) were measured in a large group of healthy normal subjects ( n = 218) to determine the influence of age and sex on tests of thyroid function. No effect of age on measurements of total thyroxine (T4), total triiodothyronine (T3) or reverse T3 was evident. Concentrations of free T4, free T3 and TSH were similarly unaffected, suggesting that increasing age alone does not significantly influence thyroid hormone measurements. The thyroid gland is very sensitive to various stress factors, including chemical ones. Meanwhile, the effect that many ecotoxicants have on the animal endocrine system has not been studied. The effect of cyanide-containing synthetic pyrethroids on the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones during prolonged low-dose exposure remains an open question. This research was aimed at assessing the morphofunctional state of the thyroid gland in laboratory rats under the specified exposure regime. The studies were conducted on 48 male Wistar rats. This cross-sectional study investigated the association between plasma thyroid hormone levels and hepatic triglyceride content in 150 patients with type 2 diabetes. Our findings revealed a significant negative correlation between plasma triiodothyronine (T3) levels and hepatic triglyceride content, suggesting a protective metabolic role of T3. No significant correlations were observed with thyroxine (T4) or thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). The study underscores the potential of T3 as a modulator of hepatic lipid metabolism in diabetic patients, highlighting its relevance in managing hepatic
