Bekker, Matthew F., and David M. Heath. "Dendroarchaeology Of The Salt Lake Tabernacle, Utah." Tree-Ring Society, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/622553.

Full text
Abstract:
We examined tree rings from Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca (Beissn.) Franco) timbers in the Salt Lake Tabernacle, constructed from 1863–1867 in Salt Lake City, Utah. A seismic upgrade to the Tabernacle initiated in 2005 required the replacement of wooden timbers with steel beams. Our objectives were to 1) determine cutting dates for the timbers to identify logs that may have been salvaged from previous structures, and consequently would have greater historical significance, 2) identify the species and provenance of the timbers, and 3) develop a chronology that could extend or strengthen the existing tree-ring record for environmental and historical applications in northern Utah. We built a 162-year floating chronology from 13 cores and 15 cross-sections, crossdated visually using skeleton plots and verified statistically with COFECHA. Statistically significant (p , 0.0001) comparisons with established chronologies from northern Utah indicated that the Tabernacle chronology extends from 1702–1862. Cutting dates ranged from 1836–1863, with most in 1862 or 1863 and a smaller cluster around 1855. The broad range of cutting dates suggests that some of the timbers were used in previous structures, and that some trees were dead before they were cut. This study provides valuable information for the preservation of historical materials, and increases the sample depth of existing chronologies during the 18th and 19th Centuries.

Breimaier, Thomas Andrew. "Cross in the Tabernacle : Charles Haddon Spurgeon & Biblical hermeneutics." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/31377.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examines the biblical interpretation of the eminent Victorian Baptist pastor, Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892), who became one of the most renowned preachers in the English-speaking world. His Metropolitan Tabernacle in London was the world's first 'megachurch', with a weekly congregation of over 5,000; by the end of his life, more than ten thousand copies of Spurgeon's sermons were printed and distributed weekly. Through his example and his publications, he had an immense influence on preaching across the North Atlantic world. This thesis, the first sustained analysis of Spurgeon's biblical interpretation, argues that his preaching success lay in his distinctive approach to Scripture, and that Christ's crucifixion and the priority of conversion formed the interpretive lens through which Spurgeon approached biblical texts. Chapter one examines Spurgeon's early education and conversion, and explores some previously unpublished early sermons. Chapters two and five analyze Spurgeon's mature addresses and publications, including his magazine and biblical commentaries. Chapters three and four, respectively, address Spurgeon's use of the Old and New Testament in his preaching, with particular attention on the language of cross and conversion. Finally, chapter six considers the instruction that he provided to the hundreds of students who attended his Pastors' College.

Morales, L. Michael. "The tabernacle pre-figured cosmic mountain ideology in Genesis and Exodus." Thesis, University of Bristol, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/1983/a246fdfd-088e-4670-afe5-e67011a1f2d1.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examines the creation, deluge, and exodus (sea crossing/Sinai) accounts of Genesis and Exodus in relation to cosmic mountain ideology, demonstrating in each narrative the cosmogonic pattern: through the waters 4 to the mountain -* for worship, and arguing that these narratives function to explain the logic and necessity of the tabernacle cultus, temples being the architectural embodiment of the cosmic mountain. While cosmic mountain ideology is an acknowledged backdrop to the religions of the ancient Near East, and to the abernacle/temple cultus of Israel in particular, sufficient attention to its function in these biblical narratives has been wanting. The cosmic mountain will be seen to serve as a symbol for approaching God so that the idea of a "gate liturgy" (in a similar fashion to that of Psalms 15 and 24: "Who shall ascend the mount of YHwH? ") is highlighted in each narrative: Adam and Eve must descend the mount upon their transgression, making the return ascent in worship a key feature in the drama leading up to the tabernacle account (and, perhaps, beyond); Noah, being found just and blameless in his generation, is thus allowed entrance into the ark, something of a "prototype" of the tabernacle; and Moses alone is permitted ascent to the summit of Mount Sinai, a role later mimicked in the instructions for the high priest's annual entrance into the holy of holies. To dwell in the divine Presence via the tabernacle cultus thus presents something of a full-circle, albeit mediated, return to the original intent of creation

Rollins, Sarah. "Acoustics of the Salt Lake Tabernacle: Characterization and Study of Spatial Variation." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2005. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/709.

Full text
Abstract:
In order to preserve the acoustics of the Salt Lake Tabernacle after the seismic renovation of 2005-2006, it was necessary to characterize these acoustics immediately preceding the renovation. This thesis discusses the characterization process that began with the measurement of hundreds of impulse responses for five different source positions and several receiver locations throughout the hall seating areas. The acoustics were further characterized by deriving various parameters from these responses that correlate with subjective preferences for music and speech. Impulse responses were also generated by a CATT-Acoustic™ computer model of the Tabernacle for the same purpose. The parameter values were then mapped over diagrams of the seating areas of the hall to show the spatial variation of the acoustics. To further investigate the variation, statistics were calculated for each parameter and an algorithm was developed to determine the minimum number of receiver locations necessary to adequately characterize the hall. Computer models were also used to investigate focusing effects of the curved ceiling and historical comments made about the improvements to the acoustics with addition of the balcony in 1870.

I propose to design a place of study and worship for the Newton Minyan, a Jewish community fellowship based in Newton, Massachusetts. While the project's programmatic design considerations and adopted iconography will certainly reflect an inherited tradition, the specific needs, worship styles, and continued interpretation of a tradition make necessary a development of a new archetype. This archetype will be developed by interpreting the needs of the community, and by rediscovering applications of a Hebreic concept of building. Thesis research focuses on a Hebreic concept of form as an architecture acknowledging time. One that composes and retains cultural meaning by integrating space and time; one that recognizes the cycles of nature and generations. Biblical models are interpreted to rediscover a tradition of Jewish place making and the discoveries are interpreted into a client generated program of use. The thesis uses the design process to develop the relationship between architect and builder by employing an adaptive foundation system and modular structural and enclosure systems that encourage on- site and post- occupancy design changes. It aims for a building that speaks about how it is made, following the Hebrew view that materials are hallowed by their use and must be employed with honesty and integrity -- according to their nature. It aims for a building that tells the story of its creation, a product that avoids the master plan and extends the process. It looks to expand, and improve, the architect- builder relationship by inviting the user into the place-making process. These aspects are brought together to examine how the built environment -- and the process of building it -- can sponsor cultural growth and ground our shared meanings in the past-future. The thesis looks to improve the process of building, and to explore the meaning found in it.

Abstract:
This thesis looks at the problem of the differences between the MT Tabernacle accounts and the LXX translation in the Book of Exodus (chs. 25-31 and 35-40). Although the differences between MT Exodus 25-31 and the LXX appear to be a matter of the type of variation which might be expected between source and receptor text with their own history of development, the differences between MT and LXX Exodus 35-40 are far more complex. The order of LXX Exodus 36-39 is quite distinct from that of the MT; the LXX translation is also much shorter than its counterpart. In the past, the general consensus of scholars has been to agree with D.W. Gooding that the arrangement and brevity of LXX Exodus 36-39 were due to the hand of an incompetent translator. After a survey of the problem of the Tabernacle accounts in Chapter one, methodologies are investigated in Chapter two in order to assess the competence (or otherwise) of the translation technique employed by the translator. This methodology is then applied in Chapters three to seven as comparisons are made between 1) the MT Tabernacle accounts; 2) the LXX Tabernacle accounts; 3) the LXX and MT Tabernacle accounts. Since Exodus 29 and 40 do not have a parallel these chapters are studied on their own (Chapters six and seven). The results of each investigation are examined for any clues which may help to solve the problem of major differences or minor discrepancies between the Tabernacle accounts. One difference between this investigation and those previously undertaken, e.g., by Gooding, is that hermeneutical intertextuality plays an important role in discerning the nature of the translation technique of the Tabernacle translator.

Abstract:
In this thesis, I develop an account of how Scripture can be read in the Spirit, in a context like that of The Tabernacle Church and Missions in Singapore. I begin by reflecting on a practice of attending to the Spirit in my church community. I draw from this pneumatology an account of the marks of the Spirit - intoxication, life, participation and revelation of truth - that can help readers discern when they are not only hearing human voices but also the voice of the Spirit. I locate the church’s reading of Scripture within this account of the Spirit’s working. I argue that such a Spirit-led process is the proper context for an interpretation of Scripture that can make for an embodied witness to Jesus Christ in the world. I formulate a theology for this account of interpreting Scripture in the Spirit; I call it kerygmatic hermeneutics. I develop a detailed practical proposal for kerygmatic interpretation. I adapt David Jeremiah Seah’s Participatory Active Listening Prayer Method to produce a method for interpreting Scripture in the Spirit. Kerygmatic hermeneutics includes processes for its own self-criticism – kerygmatic criticism – in relation to the marks of the Spirit. These disciplined processes open readers to discovery, learning and correction in relation to reader dispositions, community devotion, practices, outcomes and impacts. Readers learn to discern together when and to what extent they are (or are not) embodying scriptural truth in a valid representation of Christ’s likeness and God’s glory. Such discernment in a testing and evaluation of the forming of the Body of Christ can help us make an attribution to the efficacy of the Spirit’s presence and activities in the world.

Saltzgiver, Ryan W. "Prototype for Zion: The Original Provo Tabernacle and the Construction of Mormon Zion in the American West." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2015. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/4422.

Full text
Abstract:
During the winter of 2011–2012, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and Office of Public Archaeology (OPA) at Brigham Young University (BYU) conducted archaeological explorations in urban Provo, Utah. The purpose of the research was to uncover and document the extant remains of the Original or Old Provo Tabernacle (OPT; 42UT1844). The data recovered from that excavation was the impetus for the current study. Through a combination of documentary and archaeological evidence, and using Mormon theology as a lens through which to interpret the actions of nineteenth century Latter-day Saints, this thesis demonstrates the important role played by the OPT in the project of Mormon Zion in the American West. The OPT was the first proposed and eighth completed tabernacle in the LDS Church. In the OPT, Brigham Young initiated a dynamic new building form which was intended to accommodate both the political and economic needs of LDS settlements at a distance from Salt Lake City and the central hierarchy of the Church while simultaneously providing space for Mormon worship and ritual practice. These buildings sought to prepare the Saints of early Utah for the eventual construction of temples throughout the region and, like the Tabernacle of the Congregation anciently, served to build strong communal ties in outlying Mormon settlements.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to explore Gregory of Nyssa’s tabernacle imagery, as presented in Life of Moses 2.170-201. This part of Life of Moses has suffered from relative neglect compared to the scholarly attention conferred on Gregory’s apophatic darkness imagery. For the purposes of this study, Life of Moses 2.162-201 has been divided into nine consecutive sections, given the following headings: Darkness; The tabernacle ‘not made with hands’; Christological interpretation; Divine names; Heavenly powers; The earthly tabernacle; Heavenly and earthly worship; The holy of holies; The priestly vestments. Each section is analysed in the same way. Firstly, Gregory’s text is examined, and his biblical sources identified. Secondly, there is a presentation of relevant passages in the work of his Alexandrian predecessors – Philo, Clement and Origen. Thirdly, there is a discussion of the ways in which Gregory’s fourth century theological context has influenced his interpretation, often causing him to differ from his predecessors. It is under this heading of ‘theological context’ that contemporary scholarly discussions about Gregory are most in evidence. Fourthly, a heuristic comparison with a range of heavenly ascent texts from the Hellenistic and Late Antique worlds is undertaken. It is this methodology of heuristic comparison which is the experimental aspect of the thesis. The aim is not to prove influence, but to use heavenly ascent texts as a foil, in order to shed new light on Gregory’s imagery. Does Gregory’s interpretation of the tabernacle come into focus when viewed through the lens of heavenly ascent? In order to answer this question, the scholarship on heavenly ascent texts is mined for new ways of looking at Life of Moses. The conclusions begin by reviewing the methodology. It is argued that although many of the themes explored stem from the biblical text, and occur in Gregory’s Alexandrian predecessors, the richness of possibilities they provide, and therefore the choices made by Gregory, only become apparent when his work is compared and contrasted with a wide range of other heavenly ascent texts. Even in the case of a fourth century Christian work heavily influenced by Platonism, attending to the Jewish matrix of Christian mysticism pays dividends. The conclusions continue by listing the key ideas discovered in Life of Moses 2.170-201. They end by discussing the relationships between mysticism, theology and politics in Gregory’s tabernacle imagery. It is argued that Gregory holds all three together. This is typical of heavenly ascent texts, which combine descriptions of religious experience with claims to authoritative knowledge. For Gregory, the high point of Moses’ ascent into the darkness of Mount Sinai is the mystery of Christian doctrine. The heavenly tabernacle is a type of the heavenly Christ. This mystery is beyond intellectual comprehension, it can only be grasped by faith; and only the select few, destined for positions of responsibility, should even attempt to do so. But its benefits are available to all through the community’s worship in the earthly tabernacle. Anyone can aspire to wear an airy, angelic robe by living a life of virtue, in which faith and practice go hand in hand.

This dissertation deals with the study of John 1:14, specifically in the use of the verb to dwell. Textual and thematic similarities approach the text studied in the Old Testament traditions about Israelite tabernacle. The skenoô verb and variations stemmed from its root, are used by the LXX in most texts where the tabernacle is in question. Thus, it is intended for research examining the possibility of the text of John have the habitation of God in the tabernacle (eg Ex. 25.8) as the basis for the dwelling of the Logos among men. To achieve this goal, a comparative analysis of the text of John 1:14 with the statements about the tabernacle present in the Old Testament will be made.

Abstract:
Veils in Sacrifice of Iphigenia by Timanthes and Curtain by Parrhasius signify a problematisation of the Antiquity’s gaze and engender a hereafter which stratifies representation. The silence these works introduce within the image generates a phantastic activity, the founding basis of a visual poetry.Pala di San Marco adapts to a unified pictorial space the structure of Tabernacolo dei Linaioli already borrowed from the Tabernacle of Moses. Separating spaces of increased sacredness and in accordance with the exegetic reading, veils thicken the space and the meaning of the masterpiece, demanding at each stage a transformation of the viewers’ gaze. The exegesis identifying Marie to Arca Dei, the 15th century develops around her numerous forms which are epigones of the Tabernacle’s and become liable to encompass the viewer’s profane space. Deep within Annunciations of the Quattrocento, the veil revealed the thalamus virginis, metonymical belly of the Virgin Mary. This symbolism becomes eroded when the stage design evokes Mystery. The veil conveys metapictorial allusions or reveals vanity, intimacy, flesh. It « sacralizes » them as it did of Arca Dei or of the emperor. Unpredictably, all works become opened up to surprising transgressions, such as the eroticisation of Virgo lactans. Multiple visual metaphors alluding to what is problematic about representation, the veil supports the image of what it is hiding. The surfacing of the concealed becomes the artwork in itself. Skirting around Alberti’s precepts, this trade with the invisible connects the motif with the ancient concept, revived by La Pléiade, of a poetry whose motive is no other than to en-visage the ineffable

The context of this research is the Shigalo Tabernacle Worship Centre, where the researcher is currently ministering. The faith community is within Shigalo Village in the town of Malamulele in the Vhembe District, which has been plagued by numerous forms of violence, inflicting emotional, physical and psycho-spiritual pain on the community. Yet it has been the observation of the researcher that very few members of the community, particularly members who are also members of the faith community, seek professional help – help that is freely offered to the community by medical and other professionals, psychologists, social workers as well as pastors. The narrative that the researcher has identified in his involvement with this faith community was that some members of the faith community choose to rather suffer, by keeping all their physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual problems to themselves than to seek professional help. In the community there are various possibilities of seeking professional help – from doctors to psychologists, social workers as well as pastors. The research journey explores and describes how families of Shigalo Tabernacle Worship Centre perceive (view) professional help (counselling). The research sought to understand this perception within the context of their faith and their culture, trying to determine what narratives informed this perception. The objective of the research was first to understand this practice and second to seek ways in which these attitudes and perceptions can be overcome. To do this research, a sample of members was chosen, together with various professional caregivers: Two nurses, two social workers, two educators, two pastoral counsellors, one Medical doctor and a psychologist, who have been in the field of their specializations for more than five years and who are from the Malamulele area within the Thulamela Municipality of Vhembe district. The research was mainly to listen to the stories of the members and complementing these stories with the stories of the professional caregivers, trying to understand how these families constructed their view of faith and how it relates to seeking professional help.

Wilkins, Ryan T. "The Influence of Israelite Temple Rites and Early Christian Esoteric Rites on the Development of Christian Baptism." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2011. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/2908.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis seeks to answer the question of the origin of some of the most fundamental additions made to early Christian baptism. Christian baptism began in a relatively simple liturgical form, but became, by the fourth century, a much more dramatic set of initiation rituals. Among the added elements to baptism were washing ceremonies in the nude, physical anointing with oil, being marked or signed with the cross on the forehead, and receiving white garments. Scholars have proposed different theories as to the origins of these baptismal rituals. Some claim the elements existed in the New Testament practice of the rite. Others have supposed that the Christian church adopted the elements from either the Jewish synagogue or from contemporary pagan modes of initiation. This thesis argues that the initiation rituals of the Israelite tabernacle and temple provide a much more likely source for the added elements of Christian baptism. The esoteric practices of the temple priests became the esoteric tradition of early Christianity. The rites of this temple-oriented esoteric tradition in both the Old and New Testaments parallel, and may have been the origin for, the evolutions made to Christian baptism during the third and fourth centuries of the church. Christian groups such as the Valentinians provide evidence of higher esoteric rites being interpreted as baptism. Somehow the esoteric rites of the Israelite temple and the esoteric rites of early Christianity were adopted into the practice of Christian baptism.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The main task of diploma is creating a sacral object and community centre of Salesians in Brno-Líšeň. A construction of the Salesian complex started in 1998. As a result, the whole complex of institution got to the district of Brno-Lisen with the help of the endowment fund for youth. The Congregation focuses on the methods of educating the youth of Don Bosco, the father and teacher of the youth, the first head of the Salesian. The creation of a church is a very desirable step for the Salesian Center, because Masses are currently being celebrated in the existing building in the gym, where not everything is needed to carry out of the event. The church should be developed in the vicinity of Salesian centre and has to be available for a wide range of societies. The architectural project includes the designing of church, parish building and enviroment. The form and view of the complex suit to this environmental area and react on its entire structure. The object consists of two forms, which are connected by the horizontal communication. In the middle of the Salesian complex, there is a semi-open area. The first object is a church with a capacity of approximately 200 hundred visitors, the second object is a parish building, which perform the functions of administration with multifunction space for the exhibitions, aparmtments and offices for its employees.

Shamo, Michael Lyle. "Making the Desert Blossom: Public Works in Washington County, Utah." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2010. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/2555.

Full text
Abstract:
The following thesis is a study of how communities of Washington County, Utah developed within one of the most inhospitable deserts of the American West. A trend of reliance on public works programs during economic depressions, not only put people to work, but also provided an influx of outside aid to develop an infrastructure for future economic stability and growth. Each of these public works was carefully planned by leaders who not only saw the immediate impact these projects would have, but also future benefits they would confer. These communities also became dependent on acquiring outside investment capital from the Mormon Church, private companies and government agencies. This dependency required residents to cooperate not only with each other, but with these outside interests who now had a stake in the county's development. The construction of the Mormon Tabernacle and Temple in St. George during the 1870s made that community an important religious and cultural hub for the entire region. Large-scale irrigation and reclamation projects in the 1890s opened up new areas for agriculture and settlement. And in the 1920s and 1930s the development of Zion National Park and the construction of roads provided the infrastructure for one of the county's most important industries, tourism. Long after these projects' completion they still provided economic and cultural value to the communities they served. Some of these projects provided the infrastructural foundation that allowed Washington County communities to have greater security and control over their economic future. Over time the communities of southern Utah created dramatic reenactments and erected monuments of these very projects to celebrate and preserve the story of their construction. During the first decade of the twenty-first century Washington County has become one of the fastest growing areas in the country, and as a result public works programs continue to be important to support this growth.

Abstract:

The research deals with the three most important Judaic Feasts: The Feast of Pesah ( Feast of Unleavened Bread), The Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Tabernacles, with a theoretical basis that has the view of the biblical books of The Old Testaments. As backdrop, this research has used the content of Deuteronomy 16, 1-17. It's said that it wasn't for sure when each of these feasts appeared, but it was said that these feasts have suffered alterations in the course of time until nowadays. The comparisons made through the study of the texts in The Old Testaments have given a better view about these alterations. The unification of The Feast of Pesah with The Feast of Unleavened bread since they were close by each other in the Judaic calendar was one of the most important alterations. Another one was the centralization of the three important feasts in the temple of Jerusalem. The analysis also shows the impacts that these changes have caused over the people of Israel. The people who used to celebrate the feasts in a familiar surrounding had to change the place of their worship. The change made by King Josiah also had a great impact over the Jewish people. It's said that such change had a political and economic reason. At last, it was analyzed the changes that had occurred in the calendar of the feasts. The Feast of Pesah which used to be celebrated in the month of Tisri was then celebrated in the month of Abib, in Deuteronomy 16, 1-17.

"Make Haste Slowly: Jerold D. Ottley's Tenure with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir." Doctoral diss., 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/2286/R.I.9086.

Abstract:
abstract: Dr. Jerold D. Ottley's twenty-five years leading the Mormon Tabernacle Choir resulted in many distinguished awards and recognitions for the ensemble. Included among these are two Platinum and three Gold records from the Recording Industry Association of America, an Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and two Freedom Foundation Awards for service to the country. He conducted the Choir at two presidential inaugurations, Ronald Reagan's in 1981 and George H. W. Bush's in 1989, as well as performances at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics Gala. He presided over eleven international tours to twenty-six countries and crisscrossed the United States for engagements in nearly every region of the country. Despite the awards, commendations, and increased recognition of the Choir, Ottley's greatest contributions were largely internal to the organization. Jerold Ottley is a skilled music educator, administrator, and emissary. Application of these proficiencies while at the helm of the Choir, led to what are, arguably, his three largest contributions: 1) as educator, he instituted in-service training for choir members, raising the level of their individual musicianship, thereby improving the technical level of the entire Choir; 2) as administrator, Ottley created policies and procedures that resulted in a more disciplined, refined ensemble; and 3) as emissary, he raised the ensemble's reputation among the general public and with music professionals. For the general public, he significantly broadened the Choir's repertoire and traveled frequently thereby reaching a wider audience. He secured greater respect among music professionals by inviting many of them to work directly with the Choir. The results were unparalleled. Ottley's twenty-five year tenure with the Choir is reflected in broader audiences, increased professional acceptance, added organizational discipline, and unprecedented musical proficiency. It is a notable legacy for a man who reportedly never felt comfortable as director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

This thesis explores the trajectory of George Herbert’s spiritual growth as revealed in The Temple. It illustrates such trajectory of Herbert’s spiritual growth as a metaphorical construction of Herbert’s “real spiritual tabernacle” conforming to God’s will. When building it, Herbert exerts great efforts to integrate sufferings into more realizing the divine will and improving relationship with God. Chapter one separates “The Altar” as the prologue of The Temple since it epitomizes what the whole Temple mainly expresses: faithful dependence on God. Then Chapter Two unveils the misconceptions in young Herbert’s self-dedication to God and the result from them. The selected poems― “The Thanksgiving”, “The Reprisal”, “The Agony” clarify to us the cunning crux that Herbert is craving for flaunting his poetic talents to win the patrons’ favors rather than glorify God’s love. To rectify Herbert’s problematic attitude, we could see in Chapter Three that God lets him fall into a kind of oscillations between whether or not discarding earthly attractions. This chapter exemplifies “EmploymentⅠ”, “The Holdfast”, and the series of “Jordan” poems to visualize such mental wavering state. Chapter Four chooses “AfflictionⅠ”, “The Collar” and “The Cross” to present Herbert’s vehement emotions in response to the divinely-allowed excruciations and prove the painful experiences as a necessary “exterior communion” with God. Chapter Five and Six illustrate Herbert’s alternations after overcoming afflictions. The poems: “Repentance”, “Joseph’s Coat”, “The Pearl”, and “Matins”, reveal that Herbert willingly submits himself to God. The final discussed lyric, “Love Ⅲ”could be viewed as an epilogue of The Temple. It portrays Herbert’s “inner communion” with God. In this spiritual feast Herbert has learned to put pure faith in God’s agape and complete his real spiritual tabernacle.

Abstract:
Although the Letter to the Hebrews has merited immense amounts of scholarly attention regarding its use of Hebrew Scriptures, Hebrews scholarship is lacking a critical accounting of the dependence of Hebrews on the Hebrew Scriptures, especially Leviticus, to construct a meaningful text. My dissertation, which addresses this lacuna, is interested in how the author of Hebrews uses the textual levitical Tabernacle theme to construct the central motif of the heavenly Tabernacle in Hebrews. In analysing the ways in which Hebrews relates to Hebrew Scriptures, I make use of literary theorist Gerard Genette's model of "transtextuality," which classifies different kinds of textual relations between antecedent and successor texts. This model sets in relief the variegated relationships Hebrews has with Hebrew Scriptures in general and Leviticus in particular. Using Genette's model, I identify various types of transtextual relationships that exist between Hebrews and Hebrew Scriptures. Based on the results of this mapping, I argue that the author's selective use of symbolism associated with the levitical Tabernacle and priesthood gives the author the scope to present Jesus as the High Priest at the heavenly Tabernacle.

Based on the concept of "the tabernacle" in the Old Testaments of the Bible, the article drew on "the tabernacle" as the context for analyzing through contemporary music vocabularies. After that, I will put the procedure of creating a song, contexts interpretation and music arrangement types into practice to induct scope of application and create considerations. It describes the technical works includes lyrics, digital music arrangement, instrumental and vocal recording. All of these are output through profession mixing technical skills to present the final works.
