Abstract:
Habitat fragmentation and the intensification of agricultural landscapes are among the main drivers affecting parasitoid diversity. Although many empirical and theoretical studies have elucidated the effects of these processes on populations and communities of parasitoids, the majority of the research has been focused on specialized groups of hymenopterans. In this study the highly-diverse group of tachinid parasitoids (Diptera: Tachinidae) was considered as an alternative model system to test the effects of landscape fragmentation and agricultural intensification on the third trophic level.

The Tachinidae is a taxonomically and ecologically diverse clade of parasitoids for which evolutionary and ecological relationships with hosts are largely unknown. Here, I employed a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate the determinants of patterns of host use in the Tachinidae. First, I examined spatio-temporal variation in the tachinid-dominated parasitoid assemblage of one lepidopteran species Grammia geneura . Inger Ekdahl was a female painter at the center of Swedish Abstract Expressionism in the fifties. This essay investigates how her art was received in Stockholm and Paris. We conclude that although her type of art dominated the avant-garde in Paris during the late fifties, she was too early for the Swedish avant-garde and did not amass enough support to transform it.
