Abstract:

Abstract:

In this work, the thermal degradation of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was studied after being subjected to: i) partial hydrogenation, using lithium aluminum hydride (HLi), lithium triethylborohydride (SH) and tri-n-butyltin hydride (HSn), as reducing agents; and ii) chlorination reaction. The samples were degraded at 180 °C in the solid state up to 0.3% and the degradation rate was obtained by the conductimetric method; while the distribution of polyenes was investigated by ultraviolet/visible spectroscopy (UV/VIS). In the case of the hydrogenated PVC samples, the kinetic data indicated that there occurred a strong stabilization of the starting polymer as a consequence of the hydrogenation, obtaining the maximum degree of stabilization at conversions of around 9%. The correlation between the tacticity-conversion-degradation rate demonstrated the labile character of the mmr structures terminal of isotactic sequences that disappeared from the chain as a consequence of hydrogenation. On the other hand, in the case of the chlorinated samples, the results obtained showed that the stabilization of the polymer increases while the formation of 1,2-dichlorinated structures predominated. On the contrary, the appearance of 1,1,2-trichlorinated structures (-CHCl-CCl2-) represented the presence of new labile structures.

AbstractPsychological studies of Jesus have been neglected, but they may, in fact, make a contribution to historical Jesus studies. Jay Haley's 1969 essay, ‘The Power Tactics of Jesus Christ’, is suggestive in this regard. Haley emphasizes Jesus’ appeal to the poor through healings, his rhetorical skills against the establishment, and his creation of an organization of dedicated men. His views that Jesus’ organization was hierarchically ordered and that Jesus made a fateful miscalculation leading to his execution are evaluated and reinterpreted in light of more recent scholarship.

Abstract:
K̲h̲ālid was an extraordinary warrior and commander who lived in 7th century and led Muslim armies against Romans and Sassanids. He managed to fight against two great power of the day at the same time in an unusual way. Just flashing back to his childhood or youth to understand his military carrier is not sufficient. His membership to brave Arab tribes or his desert environment also does not give necessary information to explain his professional diplomatic attempts, detailed field plans, and elegant army order on the battlefields. We will try to make some inferences about his career by examining his tactics in the context of his military activities during the Caliph Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq period. The Caliph Abū Bakr had a clear vision and strategy for conquests, and he was trusting his commanders by giving them space to lead the armies, not interfering in all details. He had also analyzed the sociology of the region well. K̲h̲ālid b. al-Walīd portrays a successful commander who does not interfere with the general politics of the caliph but is very meticulous in applying his orders to the field. On the other hand, the Caliph 'Umar ibn-al-Khaṭṭâb unlike Abū Bakr, wanted to manage all the details on the battlefields. For this reason, although K̲h̲ālid had a successful period with Abū Bakr, he could not work with ‘Umar for a long time. K̲h̲ālid b. al-Walīd's originality is that each war is unlike the previous one and develops shocking tactics. He didn't have a standard tactic, and his moves were not familiar and predictable. He could even apply different methods in similar situations. The way he started and ended wars subverted the tactics of the enemy Arab, Roman, and Persian armies. In general, the battles he managed were lasting shorter than expected. He easily sensed the weak points of enemy commanders and soldiers such as pride or fear and could use these weaknesses well. In this article, we will revisit some examples and try to analyze the tactics K̲h̲ālid used during his military career caused the fall of the Sassanid Iraq and damaged the Roman Levant

Abstract:
This paper presents a prototype system for computer assisted surgery, the purpose of which is to assist orthopaedic surgeons when performing distal locking of intramedullary nails. This system comprises three components, namely: an Intelligent Image Intensifier, a Trajectory Tactician and an Intelligent Trajectory Guide. The Intelligent Image Intensifier is an X-ray vision system that provides accurate X-ray images. Such images enable the Trajectory Tactician software to analyse the operation site and calculate the trajectory required for a screw to lock an intramedullary nail. This involves the capture of two X-ray images from which are extracted the projections of the nail's edge boundaries and its distal locking holes. Using an analytical mathematical model of the nail, the position and orientation of the nail is determined. The trajectory is then implemented by the surgeon using the Intelligent Trajectory Guide. Evaluation in the laboratory suggests that the system is capable of reliably inserting a locking screw into an intramedullary nail. The rapidity with which this computer assisted method achieves locking should benefit both patient and surgeon by reducing radiation dosage and the length of time required to lock a nail.

Abstract:
This paper presents the design, evaluation, and field experiment of the innovative Adapt- able Human-Swarm Teaming ( α -SWAT) interface developed to support military field operations. Human-swarm teaming requires collaboration between a team of humans and a team of robotic agents for strategic decision-making and task performance. α -SWAT allows multiple human team members with different roles, physical capabilities, or preferences to interact with the swarm via a configurable, multimodal user interface (UI). The system has an embedded task allocation algorithm for the rapid assignment of tasks created by the mission planner to the swarm. The multimodal UI supports swarm visualization via a mixed reality display or a conventional 2D display, human gesture inputs via a camera or an electromyography device, tactile feedback via a vibration motor or implanted peripheral nerve interface, and audio feedback. In particular, the UI system interfacing with the implanted electrodes through a neural interface enables gesture detection and tactile feedback for individuals with upper limb amputation to participate in human-swarm teaming. The multimodality of α -SWAT’s UI adapts to the needs of three different roles of the human team members: Swarm Planner, Swarm Tactician Rear, and Swarm Tactician Forward. A case study evaluated the functionality and usability of α -SWAT to enable a participant with limb loss and an implanted neural interface to assign three tasks to a simulated swarm of 150 robotic agents. α -SWAT was also used to visualize live telemetry from 40 veridical robotic agents for multiple simultaneous human participants at a field experiment.

Abstract:
The so-called “Elephant Victory”, when the Seleucid army of Antiochus I defeated a huge horde of Celts somewhere in Asia Minor, can be ranked among the most picturesque (the Seleucid elephantry, numbering just 16 animals, vanquished the Celts, hence the battle' name), but at the same time, the most obscure episodes of Hellenistic military history. It is known, in essence, due to only one (and quite controversial) main source, Lucian’s “Zeuxis, or Antiochus” [Zeux. 8-11]. Even the exact dating of this battle remains debatable - its different versions based on other sources (mainly epigraphic) can vary from 270s to 260s BCE. Similarly mysterious remains the figure of King's tactician and advisor Theodotas of Rhodes, who made that crucial proposal to finally use the Seleucid elephantry against the Galatians. The author of the article leans towards the opinion identifying this Theodotas with his namesake, a former mercenary of Thracian King Lysimachus, who, according to Polyaenus, previously yielded the city of Sardes to Seleucus I [IV, 9, 4].

Xenophon's interest in the art of command has never diminished. This article analyzes his ambivalent relationship with “tactics”, an art he sometimes dissociates himself from, because he considers it to take the place of a much more important knowledge that ultimately encompasses it. This is also demonstrated by his subtle use of -ikos adjectives in both the Memorabilia and the Hellenica. The list of terms, often attested for the first time, confirms that the suffix suggests a specialization and an approach to a limited body of knowledge, but above all demonstrates Xenophon's singular place in the transmission of military knowledge: he is both close to Aeneas the Tactician, as well as anxious to distinguish himself from these professionals of the military art.

Starting from Veblen’s key idea and special approach of teleology, in economics particularly, we’ve chosen as example of a final and determined thing/aspect the act of consumption. That is in the Veblenian sense, of conspicuous consumption, and the consumption as general human and economic activity. Using synthesis of all theoretical and practical sources, the result of the paper is that one of consumption, even luxury, which takes into account the constraints of nowadays phenomena and activities around the world. Abstract:
This article subjects the account of Ahaz in 2 Chronicles to a synchronic literary analysis in light of the Vorlage in Kings in order to demonstrate that the “chaotic writing” that marks it forms part of the effect the Chronicler is attempting to create. By displacing and interpolating verses, he thereby paints a picture of Ahaz as a vile sinner who transgresses by nature rather than a rational tactician. This impression is heightened by the placement of the account of the Judahites’ capture and return at the centre of the narrative. The logical, coherent, sequential nature of this unit—constructed on the basis of a complication, crisis, falling action, and resolution—contrasts sharply with the rough-edged, broken pericopae on either side of it. It thus accentuates the chaos and confusion of the narrative as a whole.

Abstract:
The field of international relations is one of few corners of the social sciences in which it has been relatively easy to avoid an encounter with Karl Marx and Marxist thought. Arguably, the reverse has also been true. Whatever the reasons for that mutual ambivalence, this essay claims Marx as a serious theorist of the international, not just a pamphleteer or tactician. It does so primarily by rereading his response to the suppression of the Paris Commune, The Civil War in France. Marx’s essay, lively and provocative, challenges the distinction between ‘domestic politics’ and ‘international relations,’ and suggests that the ontological building blocks of international theory – the state and war – are revealed as historically unstable by ‘the most tremendous war of modern times.’ While Marx later reconsidered some of his analysis, The Civil War in France retains its interrogatory power especially in relation to contemporary instances of international political violence.

Abstract:
Discussing texts on political issues, my article shows that Josephus’s Jewish War reveals far more about his own ambitions in the existing political system than about positive political changes for his country or people, which in the 70s he at best hoped for. Anyone who wants to identify those hopes must distinguish him from “visionaries” like Paul, who were likewise concerned to present their convictions as not in conflict with political realities. Josephus must be understood as a tactician, who, unlike these authors, used his skills as a writer to profile himself and his people and who because of his own career ambitions was not willing to disclose anything that could have jeopardized him. My article suggests, moreover, that after the confusion of the war Josephus took up the role of a compassionate advocate for his people and as their “patron” found a career-promoting niche as mediator between Rome and Judaism.

Abstract:
The paucity of environmental resources and the threatening warning of global climate change have led to increasing research on environmental issues [e.g., pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs)]. Although norm activation theory (NAT) is a well-recognized theory for approaching PEBs, existing works appear insufficient to explain PEB in the context of social networking sites (SNSs) without taking contextual, emotional, and social factors into account. Grounded in the egocentric tactician model (ETM), NAT, along with the notions of guilt and social stressors, this study integrates a new ETM path, a supplemented emotional path, alongside the conventional NAT path to achieve a more complete picture of what are crucial determinants of PEBs in the context of SNSs. Social stressors positively moderate the emotional path. Data collected from 897 Facebook users confirm all of our proposed hypotheses. Results indicate that beyond the traditional NAT path, the new ETM path and the emotional path add values to illustrate PEBs on SNSs, and new constructs of self-influence on SNSs (SIS) and guilt remarkably drive PEBs alongside personal norms. Implications for theory and practice are discussed, and guidelines for future research are identified.

Abstract:
The most common diseases of the blood system in pregnant women are anemia and thrombocytopenia (TP). There is a general tendency to significantly reducing of the number of platelets during pregnancy, starting from the first trimester with a minimum number of them during childbirth. Purpose — to learn the features of motion of pregnancy, diagnostic and curative tactician at the thrombocytopenia during pregnancy. The causes of TP during pregnancy are three groups of conditions — conditions for which TP is characteristic outside of pregnancy and conditions associated with pregnancy: gestational thrombocytopenia (GTP), pregnancy-specific complications, manifestations of diseases characterized by TP, with the chief reason among them — immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). The most common cause of TP during pregnancy is GTP, which, like ITP, is diagnose of exclusion that require differential diagnosis. The goal of treating TP during pregnancy is to achieve a safe platelet count that is different for each trimester, not target values. If the treatment of ITP is need lines of therapy with control of efficiency are consistently applied. Pregnant women with moderate and severe TP are a group of high perinatal risk, requiring careful differential diagnosis of the causes of TP, calculation of maternal and fetal risks, choice of tactics of such pregnancy, method and time of delivery, formation of postnatal care plan. No conflict of interest was declared by the authors. Key words: pregnancy, thrombocytopenia, immune thrombocytopenia, gestational thromocytopenia.

Abstract:
A characteristic feature of the personnel policy of the Roman Emperor Maurice (582–602) in relation to the military nobility of the Empire was the regular replacement of commanders in the positions of heads of military districts. Such actions of the ruler were not least dictated by his own voluntarism and demandingness towards his generals. In addition, the catalyst for the turnover of military leaders in the positions of magistri militum of Thraciae, Illyricum and the East was the permanent clashes with the enemies of Eastern Rome. In particular, on the western bank of the Danube, the post-establishment association of Asian nomads, the Avar Khaganate, was the most powerful among the barbarians. Diplomacy between the Empire and the Khaganate was characterized by instability from the late 60s of the 6th cent. and consisted of a series of wars that alternated with short-lived truces. In order to end the confrontation with the barbarians north of the Danube Limes, Mauritius appointed his brother, Peter, as military magistrate of Thrace in 593. The reason for this decision was the lack of trusted military leaders and dissatisfaction with the actions of Peter’s predecessor, Priscus. Despite his lack of practical experience as a commander, Peter received military corps under his command that systematically participated in hostilities. Despite his long tenure, Peter failed to demonstrate the skills of a skilled strategist and tactician. Nevertheless, the activity of his brother Maurice as a magister militum of the northern frontier of Empire serves as a cluster of processes of decline both among the ordinary soldiers of the Roman army and the degradation of the officer corps of Eastern Roman Empire.

Abstract:
The genesis of the Reform Act of 1832 is still not fully understood. It has become fashionable for historians to direct their attention toward two groups of Whigs who are seen as the ultimate arbiters of policy. The first, men of high visibility such as Lords Grey and Holland, was certainly of importance. The Reform Bill prime minister was the most brilliant political tactician the Whigs had produced since Walpole. But the senior leaders of the 1830s were already becoming rather antiquated in their ideas, and men of their type and generation were generally very moderate reformers. The other group to whom historians attribute the progressive elements of Whiggism, the Edinburgh Reviewers and especially Henry Brougham, are seen as the “new men,” the radicalizers and educators of Whiggery. Yet Brougham, for example, frequently worked against the efforts of advanced Whigs to unify and strengthen the party. Indeed, he actually regretted the liberal nature of the Reform Bill. The “new men” who might have played such a role in the House of Commons, Romilly, Horner, and Whitbread, were dead by 1818, the victims of disease and madness. Mackintosh and Macaulay contributed to the party's articulation of principles but did not shape them in the 1810s and 1820s.No peaceful steps could have been taken toward actual constitutional change without the acquiescence, indeed the active cooperation, of the great Whig magnates. No Whig government could hope to survive for long or call itself Whig without support from the great families, most of them cousins by blood or marriage, whose surnames and titles were inextricably bound up with mythology anchored in the events of 1688–89.

Abstract:
Following interviews and discussions with surviving soldiers of Hannibal's alpine invasion of Italia, Polybius, a Greek general serving as advisor to Scipio Aemilianus, retraced the Hannibalic invasion of 218 BC in great detail. Writing his History - The Rise of the Roman Empire- Polybius had the resource of Scipio's extensive library and freedom to visit large swarths of the Mediterranean. Considered by Scipio and others, a prime military tactician and strategist, Polybius participated in many military exercises and wrote a manual---Tactics---(now lost) up to the 2nd Century BC. Following Hannibal's trail on horseback, he later recounted Hannibal's route from Carthago Nova through the Pyrénées and Gaul (France) to the Rhône River, crossing near Arles, north to Orange, Drôme River to the Durance, diversion to the Guil River, and on to the Col de la Traversette (~3000 m asl), the highest col in the Western Alps. His History is actually a guidebook to the invasion route. The Traversette provides a vantage point overlooking the Po River and the vaunted, much discussed rockfall, a ~250 m wide rubble mass that blocked passage of Hannibal's elephants and horses. Soldiers could pass, but clearing a path for animals took three days to allow the army to recover in the wide valley plain below, prior to exfil onto the lower Po River plains. Polybius probably spent scant time at the rockfall but noted it was a two-stage event, older rock largely weathered, partly superposed by younger rock. This assessment qualifies Polybius as probably, if not the first, certainly one of the earliest stratigraphers in history, his separation of rockfall lobes on weathering/tonal contrasts, marking a seminal event in earth science history.

The objective:the women of reproductive age have a study of risk factors of the combined pathology of uterus.Materials and methods. 397 women of reproductive age were inspected. Inclusion criteria are in research: presence of the combined hyperplastic processes of uterus – two and more for a disease (hyperplasia of endometrium, hysteromyoma and adenomyosis), verified morphologically, fertile age (18–45 years), absence in anamnesis of immunosuppressive therapy (6 months prior to entering into permanent establishment). Collection of anamnesis was conducted on the questionnaire – questionnaire which contains 120 points specially developed by us. The clinical methods of research included: general review on organs and systems, analysis of gynaecological status. Results. Detailing of anamnestic information demonstrates, that most specific gravity of risk factors distinguished representatives with combination of all variants of hyperplastic diseases of uterus, determining such potentially «unreliable» in a prognostic plan due to high-purity of the domestic inherited «load» on morbidity; to high infectious morbidity and, as a result – low index of somatic health (concomitant obesity, disease of the respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract); initially the unhappy state of the reproductive system: violation of menstrual cycle (protracted becoming of menstrual cycle (more than year), protracted and abundant menstruations) as reflection unfavorable endocrine-metabolic to the background; frequent artificial abortions which excel births on a quantity, post-abortion complications (bleeding and purulent-septic disease); high-purity of the carried inflammatory diseases of genitalia.Conclusions. The got results must be taken into account at development of algorithm of conduct of patients with the combined pathology of uterus in reproductive age. Abstract:
Waste biogenic materials derived from seafood exploitation represent valuable resources of new compounds within the blue bioeconomy concept. Here, we describe the effectiveness of Raman technology implementation as an in-line tool for the demineralization process control of crustaceans or gastropods. Transparent chitin polymeric foils and calcium acetate by-products were obtained from three waste crustacean shells (C. sapidus, S. mantis, and M. squinado) using a slow, green chemical approach employing acetic acid. Progressive mineral dissolution and increasing of the Raman characteristic signal of chitin is shown in a time-dependent manner using NIR-Raman spectroscopy, while resonance Raman shows intact carotenoids in reacted shells after 2 weeks. Chitin foil products are species-specific, and the demineralization bath of the waste shell mixture can be effectively tracked by Raman tools for solvent control and decision making for the recovery of calcium acetate by-products. Comparatively obtained calcium acetate from Rapana venosa snail shells, the subject of Raman analyses, allowed assessing by-product identity, hydration status, purity, and suitability as recrystallized material for further use as a pharmaceutical compound derived from different crustaceans or gastropod species. Cross validation of the results was done using FT-IR, XRD, and SEM-EDX techniques. A hand-held flexible TacticID Raman system with 1064 nm excitation demonstrated its effectiveness as a rapid, in-line decision making tool during process control and revealed excellent reproducibility of the lab-based instrument signal, suitable for in situ evaluation of the demineralization status and solvent saturation control.

Full text
Abstract:
The article examines the metric repertoire of poems by G.R. Derzhavin in the collected works prepared by himself (Vol. 1–4. St. Petersburg, 1808; Vol. 5. St. Petersburg, 1816). A statistical analysis of the metrics of poems in the first three volumes and in the 5th volume (Vol. 4, which contains dramatic works, was not considered) shows that two tendencies coexist in Derzhavin's work. On the one hand, a large number of poems are written in the usual meters, such as four-foot iambic or four-foot trochee, while statistically the number of poems written in such “usual” meters does not at all coincide with the general trends of the time. It can be assumed that in terms of the distribution of meters according to the number of verses, Derzhavin is ahead of his time. On the other hand, metric experiments are also not uncommon in the “Works”. The poet uses iambic and trochaic varieties, which are not very common in the late 18th – early 19th centuries, three-syllable meters; each volume contains polymetric compositions. There are also more radical experiments: for example, several logaedos or works in which the ancient metric is imitated, but ineptly, which leads to the emergence of texts such as “Polyhymnii”, whose size eventually coincides with the tactician. In the “Works” not all of Derzhavin’s poems are collected, but only those that he wanted to present to the public, therefore, we can assume that, since this corpus of verses was best known to the poet’s readers, including readers-poets, these verses, including number in terms of the choice of meters and their distribution over the volume of poems, could have the most obvious versification influence on the further development of Russian poetry among all the poet’s verses.

Abstract:
SARS-CoV-2 ORF3a accessory protein was found to be involved in virus release, immunomodulation and exhibited a pro-apoptotic character. In order to unravel a potential ORF3a-induced apoptotic and inflammatory death mechanism, lung epithelial cells (A549) were transfected with in vitro synthesized ORF3a mRNA. The protein’s dynamic involvement as “stress factor” for the endoplasmic reticulum, causing the activation of PERK kinase and other UPR-involved proteins and therefore the upregulation of their signaling pathway executioners (ATF6, XBP-1s, PERK, phospho eIF2a, ATF4, CHOP, GADD34), has been clearly demonstrated. Furthermore, the overexpression of BAX and BH3-only pro-apoptotic protein PUMA, the upregulation of Bcl-2 family genes (BAX, BAK, BID, BAD), the reduced expression of Bcl-2 in mRNA and protein levels, and lastly, the cleavage of PARP-1 and caspase family members (caspase-3,-8 and -9) indicate that ORF3a displays its apoptotic character through the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis. Moreover, the upregulation of NFκB, phosphorylation of p65 and IκΒα and the elevated expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1b, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-18) in transfected cells with ORF3a mRNA indicate that this protein causes the inflammatory response through NFκB activation and therefore triggers lung injury. An intriguing finding of our study is that upon treatment of the ORF3a-transfected cells with GSK2606414, a selective PERK inhibitor, both complications (apoptosis and inflammatory response) were neutralized, and cell survival was favored, whereas treatment of transfected cells with z-VAD (a pan-caspase inhibitor) despite inhibiting cell death, could not ameliorate the inflammatory response of transfected A549 cells. Given the above, we point out that PERK kinase is a “master tactician” and its activation constitutes the main stimulus for the emergence of ORF3a apoptotic and inflammatory nature and therefore could serve as potential target for developing novel therapeutic approaches against COVID-19.

Abstract:
The article discusses pedagogical context as a determinant of the internal processes of critical thinking and a set of organized circumstances, sufficient conditions of the educational environment that guide its development as systematic, logical, creative and ethical. 1. Priority of individuality. It is viewed as actualization of the student’s intellectual potential by means and techniques that develop the practice of critical thinking, while taking into account the fact that: intellectual potential is not subject to alignment «to the average»; formed cognitive schemes can prevent new ones; development is limited by the lack of practical experience. 2. Creativity as a permanent characteristic of the process. This is the students’ awareness of critical thinking as creative, aimed at developing a new state of the system, the search for effective mechanisms, functions, elements, reconstructions. It includes the separation of the process of generating ideas from their discussion and critical analysis; the use of associative, metaphorical teaching methods. 3. The formation of non-linear, strategic thinking leads to the avalanche-like development of the full potential of thinking, to the formation of a holistic vision of a scheme, model, procedure. It includes tasks of the following types: cross-cutting throughout the course with gradual complications (problematic, logical ascending, concentric ones); systematic and logical (a purpose-oriented, functional, motivational fixation); a series of tasks. 4. The environment of «good questions» provides the formation of the experience of problem thinking, the thinking of a tactician. These are the skills of asking questions that lead to the production of ideas, vision of problems, or new things in the typical; formulating focused questions and understanding the asked ones, which help to determine a new direction of the analysis. 5. The learning environment for the development of metacognitive skills that is a project, procedural, corrective and result reflection, implemented as a systematic procedure that ensures self-direction, self-correction and self-motivation of cognitive actions. Abstract:
Successes in Russian politics of the XIX century are significant thanks to the efforts of diplomats Alexei Borisovich Lobanov-Rostovsky and Nikolai Pavlovich Ignatieff. In studies of the XX century, they are almost forgotten. Ignatieff is an experienced tactician, a supreme professional who owns a military affair. He had diplomatic cunning. Sometimes Ignatieff showed adventurism. Basically, these qualities provided him good luck in the diplomatic field. However, Ignatieff was not enough historical knowledge. It was in diplomatic negotiations during the Russian-Turkish war of 1878-1879 that this lacuna prevented his success. He insisted on the idea of pan-Slavism, not taking into account all international factors. The diplomat did not take into account the historical features of the Ottoman Empire, Europe’s interest in its power and influence, that is, the historical totality of the international system of counterweights. Lobanov-Rostovsky - strategist. And it was inherent evasiveness, skillful ability to convince of the correctness. However, the role of historical education in his diplomatic practice was enormous. In a more deliberate line of conduct at the conclusion of the final Treaty of Constantinople, he was helped by fundamental «background knowledge» that allowed him to adequately assess the geopolitical situation. The Prince was engaged in history from an early age. The hobby grew into professional occupations. For 16 years he published historical essays in leading historical journals. He had access to secret documents of the Russian Empire thanks to the trust of Emperor Alexander II. Lobanov used to work with primary sources. History has taught him that sometimes you need to act quickly, and in some situations, to exercise the greatest caution. In the situation of the Russian-Turkish war, he set himself only specific goals. If the San Stefano peace Treaty of 1878, signed by count Ignatieff, is well known, then the final Treaty of Constantinople, signed by Prince Lobanov-Rostovsky, is still very little mentioned. Meanwhile, after the Treaty of San Stefano, there were events that undermined its positive results. A “Berlin treatise of the great powers” in 1878 deprived Russia of a significant part of the acquisitions that it has achieved under the Treaty of San Stefano. Here Lobanov faced important General and specific tasks. To solve them, the new Ambassador had to have absolutely unique characteristics. In addition to the enormously developed ability Lobanov to build relationships with people: personal goodwill and the confidence of Alexander II; the respect in the higher Turkish circles; the location to him of the Sultan, who himself appealed to the Emperor with a request to appoint Ambassador Lobanov. The totality of personality traits and circumstances led to a convincing success, which was the final Treaty of Constantinople in 1879, which resulted in an independent state-the Autonomous Principality of Bulgaria.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to describe an integration of the media naturalness theory, the continuum model of impression formation and the social identity model of deindividuation effects. The goal is to determine the compatibility of the central tenets and propositions of the two theories and reconcile their effects under a unified model that can be used to explain and predict changes in perceptions, attitudes and behaviors arising in computer-mediated interaction. Design/methodology/approach A review of the literature was used to determine whether the two theories were compatible. The reconciliation comes by way of a third theory, the motivated tactician theory, which focuses on the effects of cognitive effort on schema use, particularly on those schemas used in social categorization processes. Findings It was determined that the two models of focus could be combined via the tenets of the third. The combined model is expected to provide explanatory and predictive capabilities that exceed those of the individual theories and should prove to be relevant in the study of computed-supported collaboration, in the design of collaborative environments and in the analysis of individual and group behaviors in computer-mediated communication. Research limitations/implications The current effort describes the main effects derived from the integration and offers four propositions that describe moderating factors that are derived from each of the three theories. The main effects must be tested and validated and, given support, must be extended to determine the validity of the moderating effects predicted by the propositions. Additionally, media naturalness theory is a relatively recent addition to theories of technology and so needs further empirical support for its propositions. As to the behavioral implications, the social identity model of deindividuation effects has yet to be tested with the specific intention of discovering how media characteristics affect self-concept. Practical implications The model can be used to inform information system designs that favor desirable behavioral outcomes or to prevent undesirable effects from occurring. For example, emphasis can place on media attributes and system features that individuate decision-makers within group decision support environments when consensus is a primary goal as a means to avoid group thinks and polarization. Conversely, attributes and features that are supportive of social categorization processes and deindividuation effects might be used to emphasize group membership, shared effort and to minimize social loafing or the frequency and intensity of inappropriate disparagement of ideas and contributions. Social implications The combined model is principally useful in explaining and predicting human behavior in relation to computer-supported collaborative work such as distributed workgroups and online learning environments. For example, the explanatory elements of the combined theory can be used by managers as a diagnostic tool in problem situations within virtual teams. A specific instance would be to determine why a change to existing systems created a change in work habits. In a more proactive move, managers might use the predicted social categorization effects and subsequent depersonalization, to instill a group identity in an otherwise diverse workgroup. Originality/value The combined model is expected to provide explanatory and predictive capabilities that exceed those of the individual theories and should prove to be relevant in the study of computed-supported collaboration, in the design of collaborative environments and in the analysis of individual and group behaviors in computer-mediated communication.

Though he is widely recognized as the most brilliant revolutionary tactician of the twentieth century, appreciation of Lenin’s revolutionary thought has largely concentrated on Marxist or other class-based forms of revolutionary action. In addition, Lenin’s legacy is inextricably tied to revolutionary violence and post-revolutionary dictatorship, leading some – including many among the most recent wave of revolutionary protestors in the Western and Arab worlds – to reject leadership or organizational models of revolution altogether. From Occupy to the recent failures of liberal democratic revolution in Egypt, however, recent history has shown the political weakness of leaderless and anti-organization movements, including those relying on diffuse or social media platforms of mobilization. Against these patterns, I suggest that we revisit and reassess the tactical insights of Lenin’s revolutionary thought even in our post- Leninist democratic age, and argue that Lenin’s basic tactical approach is as relevant to liberal revolutions as to Marxist ones.

Abstract:
The article considers the information policy in the current global crisis, weighed down by the pandemic of the COVID-19, which has sunk many countries around the world. In the setting of extreme conditions, the behaviour, rhetoric, slogans of world leaders and methods of mass communication are investigated. It is noted that the response of a certain number of world leaders was not always based on objective and rational recommendations of experts; moreover, they were even indicated by the absence of any scientific justification. It is proposed to classify the behaviour of world leaders during the fight against a pandemic according to the following four types: «Silence of the Lambs», «Riot of the Elites», «Tough Rejection», «Pendulum». The following types of approaches in internal communications (from the leader to people) are distinguished during the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic, due to the tasks facing politicians and their vision of solving the problem: «Caring father», «Populist», «Tough leader», and «Tactician», depending on the internal socio-political situation in the country and the international situation, as well as on the personality traits of the leader himself, taking into account the predicted reaction of the neighbouring countries and the international community. Relevant examples of political leaders of each of these types are given. It is emphasized that world leaders did not take advantage of the emergency and did not formulate a concept for the future of their countries, confining themselves to general phrases. The forecasted trends are the demand for certain types of political leader after the pandemic, the need for the development of mass ideology, new events and guarantees of protection.
