This research proposes an integrated high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna for near-field (13.56 MHz) and far-field (920–925 MHz) communication. This tag antenna is advantageous for the applications with lossy material in the near-field communication and mitigates polarization loss in the far-field communications. The HF-RFID tag antenna is of square spiral structure, and the circularly polarized UHF-RFID structure consists of a square loop radiator with cascading loop feeding and shorted stub. Abstract Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a widely used wireless technology for contactless data exchange. Owing to international standardization and one-way security nature of the communication protocol, RFID tags, holding sensitive information, may be a subject to theft. One of the major security loopholes is the so-called far-field attack, where unauthorized interrogation is performed from a distance, bypassing the user’s verification. This loophole is a penalty of using a dipole-like RFID tag antenna, leaking wireless information to the far-field. Here we introduce a new concept of

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) increasingly attracts more researchers as well as industry attentions. Most of current SDN packet processing approaches classify packets based on matching a set of fields on the packet against a flow table and then applying an action on the packet. The authors argue that it is possible to simplify this mechanism using single-field classification and reduce the overhead. They propose a tag-based packet classification architecture to reduce filtering and flow management overhead. Then, they show how to use this extra capacity to perform application layer classif

Size and flexibility are the two main elements that must be considered in designing a near-field communication (NFC) tag antenna because they will determine the performance of the whole system. The previously designed NFC tag antenna, which is made of a rigid substrate such as FR-4, limited the application of the tag to only on a flat surface. The size of the tag antenna also needs to be optimised based on the application requirements since different sizes of the antenna will contribute to different electrical properties, including inductance and resistance. Therefore, this paper presents an a

AbstractTo gain information on the microhabitat use, home range and movement of a species, it is often necessary to remotely track individuals in the field. Radio telemetry is commonly used to track amphibians, but can only be used on relatively large individuals. Harmonic direction finding can be used to track smaller animals, but its effectiveness has not been fully evaluated. Tag attachment can alter the behaviour of amphibians, suggesting that data obtained using either technique may be unreliable. We investigated the effects of external tag attachment on behaviour in the laboratory by obs

Methods are presented for planning individual catch-sampling, tagging, and field-sampling programs to estimate salmon (Oncorhynchus spp.) harvest in recreational and commercial fisheries from several hatchery-produced and wild cohorts through recovery of coded-wire tags. We show how to determine sample sizes sufficiently large to detect harvest and link sample sizes to expenditures through linear and allometric cost functions to determine optimal tagging and catch-sampling rates. Sample sizes that will minimize bias and variance are charted for field-sampling programs designed to estimate the

We describe a cylindrical plastic ear-tag for rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) that is inexpensive to construct, easy to attach, and highly suitable for field studies. Tags are visible in daylight with the aid of binoculars or telescope at distances up to about 200 m, and up to about 150m at night with the aid of a spotlight. Annual rates of tag loss are low (7%) in grassland habitat but may be higher in scrub habitat.

Currently NFC technology is growing rapidly and has been exploited in various applications, so the utilization of this technology is expected to eliminate the impression of outdated and less attractive to the museum. TAG increased after initiation of exogenous feeding in different feeding treatments but did not increase in starved larvae. AbstractAfter single-gas (SG) injection operations in tight oil reservoirs, a significant amount of oil is still unrecovered. To increase productivity, several sequencing gas injection techniques have been utilized. Given the scarcity of research on multiple-gas alternating injection schemes, this study propose an optimized triple-alternating-gas (TAG) injection for improved oil recovery. The performance of the TAG process was demonstrated through numerical simulations and comparative analysis.
