Diplomová práce představuje vytvoření softwarového 2D MKP modelu přehrady Slezská Harta v České Republice za pomoci softwaru PLAXIS 2D. V úvodu práce je analýza vodní nádrže, vytvořené jako zásobárna vody a protipovodňové dílo. Analýza sleduje geomorfologii, geologii, konstrukci tělesa hráze, použité materiály a metody, a stávající monitorovací zařízení. Pro pochopení tvorby 2D MKP modelu jsou předloženy a definované metody použitých analýz - metoda konečných prvků, analýza prosakování, materiálové modely, citlivostná analýza. Následně byla definována tvorba struktury modelu - určení posloupnosti použitých analýz, definování vstupních dat a mezních podmínek a tvorba kalibračního segmentu. V závěrečné části práce je analýza dosažených výstupů rozsáhlého testování modelu, jejich korelace s reálnými naměřenými hodnotami a celkové shrnutí přínosu vytvořeného modelu pro jeho využití při předpovídání chování přehrady v extrémních případech.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Statistical experimental design techniques are powerful tools that are often approached with suspicion and apprehension by experimenters. The trend is to avoid any statistically structured and designed experimentation program, and to rather use the traditional method of following ones "gut feel". This approach, more often than not, will supply a satisfactory solution, but there is so much more information availablefor the same amount of effort. This thesis strives to outline the method and application of the Taguchi methodology of experimental design. The Taguchi method is a practical, statistical experimental design technique that does not rely on the designer's knowledge of the complex statistics typicallyneeded to design experimental programs, a fact that tends to exclude design of experiments from the averageengineers' toolbox. The essence of the statistical design of experiments is this: The traditional method of varying one variable at a time and investigating its effect on an output is no longer sufficient. Instead all the input variables are varied at the same time in a structured manner. The output trends resulting from each input variable are then statisticallyextracted from the data in the midst of the variation. Taguchi method achieves this by designing experiments where every level of every input variable occurs an equal number of times with every level of every other input variable. The experimental designs are represented in orthogonal arrays that are chosen and populated by the experimenter by following a simple procedure. Four case studies are worked through in this text and, where possible, compared to the "traditional" approach to the same problem. The case studies show the additional information and time savings availablewith the Taguchi method, as well as clearlyindicating the importance of using a stable system on which to do the experiments. The Taguchi method generated more information in fewer experiments than the traditional approaches as well as allowing analysis of problems too complex to analysewithout a statisticaldesign of the experimentation procedure.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Statistiese eksperimentele ontwerptegnieke is besonder kragtige instrumente wat baie keer met agterdog deur ekspermenteerders beheen word. Die neiging is om enige statistiese gestruktureerde and ontwerpte eksperimentele program te vermy, en om liewer die tradisionele metode, wat op 'n mens se intuïsie staatmaak, te gebruik. Hierdie benadering sal baie keer 'n bevredigende oplossing gee, maar daar is veel meer inligting vir dieselfde hoeveelheid inspanning verkrygbaar, wanneer die Taguchimetode gebruik word. Hierdie tesis strewe om die metode en toepassing van die Taguchimetodologie van eksperimentele ontwerp voor te lê. Die Taguchimetode is 'n praktiese statistiese eksperimentele ontwerptegniek .wat nie op die ontwerper se kennis van komplekse statistiek om eksperimentele programme te ontwerp berus nie. Hierdie komplekse statistiek neig ook om eksperimentele ontwerp van die gemiddelde ingenieursvaardigehede uit te sluit. Die kern van statistiese eksperimentele ontwerp is die volgende: Die tradisionele metode van een veranderlike op 'n slag te varieer om die effek op die uitset te ondersoek, is onvoldoende. In plaas daarvan, word al die insetveranderlikes gelyktydig gevarieer in 'n gestruktureered manier. Die neigings van elke veranderlike is dan statisties ontleed van die data ten midde van die variasie van al die ander veranderlikes. Die Taguchimetode bereik die ontwerpte eksperimente deur elke vlak van elke insetveranderlik in 'n gelyke aantal keer met elke vlak van elke ander insetveranderlike te varieer. Hierdie is verteenwoordig deur ortogenale reekse wat gekies en gevul is deur 'n eenvoudige wisselpatroon te volg. Vier gevallestudies is deurgewerk en, waar moontlik, vergelyk met die tradisonele siening van dieselfde probleem. Die gevallestudies wys hoe toereikbaar die additionele inligting in die Taguchimethode toepassings is. Hulle beklemtoon ook die belangrikheid van 'n stabiele sisteem waarop die eksperimente berus. Traditional Taiwanese’s daily food consumption before the Japanese colonization age, bases on the consumption of rice and grains. It is during the period of colonization, and post war period, where Mainland China’s population moved to Taiwan at mass scale, that Japanese’s method of noodle making and Chinese noodle making method from different part of mainland china were imported to Taiwan. Since then, Taiwanese noodle making culture and skills had developed, and became highly diversified and merged. Figures records, Taiwanese noodle consumption had increased from 3% in 1945 to over 20% in 2015. Clearly, there is a huge increase in the population of noodle diet, and those noodle consumptions mainly bases on Yóu miàn, Udon, and Yang Chun mian. This study investigate the progress of the traditional small scale noodle factory on the improvement of Udon making. Experiment base on Taguchi quality research method, make use of L9(34) experiment, with 4 controlling factors and 3 selections on reading scales, repeated 10 times for each settings, in order to record readings for the amount of salt water, speed and duration of stir, and total operate duration for dough production. This study aims to find out the most balanced formula for producing Udon. Thus, one can act to improve the quality and quantity of Udon making, and reduce the spending’s on the cost of time and electricity. According to this investigation, by using Taguchi quality research method, it is possible to improve the quality of Udon making, reduce cost by 1.2%, and raise quantity produced by 28%. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is one of the necessary manufacture procedure for electronic products. Due to the electronic product become thinner and lighter, the component will be smaller, and SMT process becomes more important. The basic SMT process is solder printing, parts placement, and reflow soldering, and the reflow soldering is the key to product reliability. In the past, we set reflow oven parameters base on the profile which solder paste manufacturers provided, then engineer adjusted the reflow oven setting to achieve it by their owned experience. It wastes time and need repeated action. When SMD component become smaller and smaller, the soldering strength also become more and more important. This study will use Tagochi method and response surface methodology to set 4 major process parameter factor: highest temperature, preheat time, reflow time, cooling rate, correspond to welding strength, and each factor set 3 reasonable level, per orthogonal arrays to make experiment. Through analysis by response surface method, we get the predictive equation for welding strength evaluation, the result shows that highest temperature is the most important significant factor to influence welding strength. According this equation, we can quickly and easily to find the proper parameter for new product reflow process parameter, then produce a good product and has good reliability.

With advances in electronic technology development and consumer needs for high performance electronic components, the manufacturers match consumer’s need by producing light, thinner, short and small components with more functions. Thus, the packaging technology process is looking for high pin count, small form factor, low cost assembly method. Reducing bond pad pitch is always the first step to increase die output, this research focuses on the fine pitch bonding process to improve assembly yield.   TEBGA ( Thermal Enhanced Ball Grid Array ) components are selected for this study. Taguchi's method is used to obtain key factors, levels and optimum parameters to increase wire bonding process capability, Cpk( process capability index ) and assembly yield.   The assembled results show that the first bond average ball shears strength was increased from 12.8 g to 14.1g, ball left defect average ppm was reduced from 1624 ppm to 685 ppm, Cpk average was improved from 1.3 to 1.9. The second bond average bond pull strength was increased from 6.26 g to 6.44 g, 2nd bond left defect average ppm was reduced from 668 ppm to 228 ppm, Cpk average was also increased from 1.3 to 2.0.

As the popularity of LCM (liquid crystal display module) used for part of smart phone, the technique about LCM full lamination is an absolutely necessary process for touch screen devices. The larger screen makes lower yield rate and higher cost. Therefore the importance about LCM full lamination process is significant. Three procedure of LCM full lamination were involved: the touch panel lamination with OCA glue (optical clear adhesive), the part (touch panel with OCA glue) laminate with LCD and the auto-clave processes. The key step which related with yield rate is the part laminate with LCD (liquid crystal display) process. It is the major goal for the manufacture engineering to fine the key parameters of the LCM full lamination. But the larger the screen’s size, the lower of yield rate. Therefore the parameters of LCM full lamination become more significant during the manufactured procedure. OCA glue is the key component which used for touch panel laminate with LCD. The advantage of OCA glue is convenient and efficient to shape it. But LCM bubble and peel off issues make the cost increasing when reworking it. In this study, we use the Taguchi method and the response surface methodology to study the influence of the roller hardness, the roller pressure, the speed of roller and the degassing pressure in LCM full lamination process. We choose three factors which related with lamination in orthogonal arrays to verify LCM bubble and adhesion failure rate. Then the response surface methodology was applied to find the equation of the number of bubble and the adhesion force. The primary parameter to influence LCM bubble and adhesion is the roller pressure. And the response surface methodology can use to find the optimal parameters of lamination which will reduce the failure rate of LCM bubble and the poor adhesion issues. Therefore to improve lamination yield rate and decrease the scrap of touch panel and LCD.

Nowadays, most electronic products put their emphasis on outstanding functionality and diversity. Also, the size of products tends to lighter and thinner. Therefore, SMT ( Surfance Mount Technology) plays an important role in production. There are three major stpes in SMT: (1) Screen printer (2) Component placement and (3) Reflow oven. Among the entire SMT production process, Screen Printer is the most important key at quality and stability of the entire production. This study does analysis on several process parameters with a little experiment data, adopted table orthogonal experimental design and simple ANOVA from Taguchi Methods to get the optimal height parameter A3B2C1D1 and the optimal area parameter A2B1C2D1, then brought the height and area results from Taguchi Methods into these in order to carry grey relation. It compared the situation and correlation from changes of two factors, and found the optimal print parameter, which is A2B2C1D1 ( printing pressure 80N, printing speed 100 mm/sec, printing snap-off distance 0.2mm and printing snap-off speed 2mm/sec). The results accord with those states from thories and also conform to the goal vales.

In today’s electronics industry, consumers are increasingly demanding higher quality 3C products, including products with slimmer designs. This trend highlights the importance of surface mount technology. This technology can be roughly divided into three steps: stencil printing, component placement, and solder reflow. The first step, stencil printing, is especially crucial because it may cause the failure of subsequent processing if the printing quality is low. In addition to having to spend more time, redoing the work would also mean spending more money.   This study used a combination of the Taguchi and response surface methods for the solder paste printing process’ technical volume, choosing four parameters (squeegee pressure、squeegee speed、snap-off height and snap-off speed), with each parameter containing three levels. Then the study used L9(34) orthogonal array, followed by Taguchi’s nominal-the-best method to analyze, with the target value set at 2073600 μm3. The optimum parameters achieved were: squeegee pressure 80 N, squeegee speed 50 mm/s, snap-off height 0.2 mm, and snap-off speed 2 mm/s. In the end, the results from the response surface regression analysis were used to deduce the predicted volume of solder paste and the optimum parameters. This method allowed us to achieve a paste volume predicted value of 1899124 μm3. The result showed that the predicted values are closer to our target values.

In this thesis, optimal design of the characteristics of interrupting of breaker in the GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgeer)basing on Taguchi's Method [small-the-better] from the experimental results of GISs three control factors and three levels .The control factors include the DC power supply, operating pressure and hook gap that impacting on the operating time of circuit breaker closely ,moreover, collecting the test data of 161kV GISs which having been operating at 12 substations ,at Taiwan Power Company Kao- ping Power supply Branch , in the year of 90 to 97 ,each GIS depicting a same voltage level ,air pressure operating mode and line bay.The Results of optimal design of DC power supply , operating pressure and hook gap should be 140V DC ,16.5kg/cm2•G and 2.8mm or 3.2mm. Though there is no consistency between the practical results and the current situation. However, the optimal design of the operating parameters of interrupt- ing of breaker in the GIS, can be used as the power system circuit breakers planning, operation, and maintenance of important reference.

Taguchi Method’s Robust Design has been applied in a various range of industrial applications. However, the major part only aims at the question of single performance characteristics optimization. More than one quality characteristics must be simultaneously considered to effectively improve the product quality due to the increasing complexity of product design. Optimizing each quality characteristic separately may not result the optimality for the entire production. More often, considering one quality characteristic may conflict with the other. The more the number of the performance characteristics, the stronger the correlation of them. It also brings the engineer the difficulties of resolving the performance characteristics conflict. This article undertakes the Optimization of multiple quality characteristics using the combination of Taguchi Method and Grey Relational Analysis. If the factorial level belongs to the continuous factor, this work will find the best setup according to the Response Surface Methodology to confirm the valuable combination. In order to show the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed algorithm, this article uses the two cases – Substrate Laser Displacement Measurement and Optimal Coating of Photoresists of LCD process respectively. The results show that this method can find the best production process parameter level combination of the two processes. Demonstrating the effectiveness of the research, helps the company to improve the quality of product effectively.

ABSTRACT In order to reduce the number of experiments, an orthogonal array from the Taguchi′s experimental method will be utilized to design the sets of cutting conditions such as cutting velocity, feed rate, depth of cut and nose radius of the tool. Based on the proposed methodology, good machined surface roughness and set of optimum cutting condition can be obtained through the machining experiment by CBN tool and JIS SUS 304 series stainless steel. As a result, the subsequent grinding process may be neglected, the procedure for manufacturing production can be simplified and the machining time for the components can be reduced. Experiment error and variance analysis for the minimum expected character of S/N ratio are assessed by the robust design of Taguchi′s experimental method, the good quality index of surface roughness and the optimum parameter of cutting conditions can be acquired and also can be extended to the academic, industrial and government units for the reference of teaching, research and production. The results show that the range of surface roughness is within Ra 0.070~0.333μm, the optimum cutting conditions sets are A2, B3, C2 and D2 through the averaging analysis and control factor for quality characteristic response graph and table. Where the parameter for A2 set the cutting velocity is 300m/min, for B3 set the feed rate is 0.06mm/rev, for C2 set the depth of cut is 0.15mm and for D2 set nose radius is 0.8mm. Furthermore, the feed rate is the most important control factor dominates the S/N signal to noise ratio. Keywords: surface roughness, Taguchi method, orthogonal array, stainless steel, CBN

Signal-to-Noise Ratio(S/N Ratio) is the important measurement of the quality performance in the Taguchi Method, because the purpose of the parameter design is to determine the optimum factor level combination, and it is according to the Signal-to-Noise Ratios, so , it’s very important to estimate the S/N Ratios rationally. However, because of considering the cost、time and the experimental configure, we cannot but use the less samples to estimate the statistic and implement the continuous statistical inference, moreover, the statistical distributions of the Signal-to-Noise Ratios are very complicated, So,it’s very hard to use the exact point estimate in statistical inference, Therefore, there are many researcher try to use the interval estimate to instead of the point estimate. Bootstrap Method is a nonparametric repeatedly sampling method, there is no statistical assumption on it’s population, and it used simulation to estimate the parameters, so, it doesn’t have to prove any mathematical formula, and it’s very convenient and accurate in estimating the parameter and constructing the confidence interval. Therefore, in this paper, we used Bootstrap Method to construct the 95% confidence intervals of the larger-the-better and smaller-the-better S/N Ratios for instead of the point estimate, and we changed the parameters to discuss the effect upon the coverage proportions、average width and standard deviation of the width;and further, we used the Burr distribution to transform the non-normality process, and according to different combination of skewness and kurtosis conditions to discuss the influence of the coefficients of skewness and kurtosis on the results.

With the coming of the digital era, software becomes more and more complex. In order to guarantee the software reliability, software should be tested throughout all before released it to customers. The traditional software testing method generates test items based on the past experiences of testers and developers. However, this traditional approach has two problems. First, the steps of generating test items are not standardized. Thus, it takes much time for generating test items. Secondly, testers and developers may focus only on testing the most frequently used features of the software due to their past test experiences. Thus, this will cause lower coverage rate for testing other features of the software. This thesis uses a robust design approach to generate the test items for the digital TV software. First, analyze each function of the digital TV to get its control factors and levels. Next, optimize the control factors and levels based on the digital TV characteristics. Then, select the appropriate orthogonal array established by Taguchi in accordance with the control factors and levels. Finally, automatically generate test items according to the selected orthogonal array. Experiment results show that the proposed approach can reduce the lead time in generating test items and increase the coverage rate for testing software. Furthermore, the standard process of generating test items is established.

As it’s time consuming and cost expensive by running the adjustment of process parameters based on experiences at the case study company, the research utilizes Taguchi Method to determine optimizing parameters for solder ball formation. The research sieves out the temperature of crucible, the supplying pressure of Nitrogen and oscillation frequency of oscillator as controlled factors, by applying full-factor Design Of Experiment (DOE) that had larger crossing range and scale, Taguchi Method that had smaller crossing range and territory as well as Orthogonal Array Approach, and then analyzed the data from experiments by Minitab Software to get better combination for the case study company. The result of the research proved that the optimizing combination of parameters for formation are 262℃temperature of crucible, 0.28Mpa of the supplying pressure of Nitrogen and 2022 oscillation frequency. The yield rate of formation for solder ball increased from 62% to 91%, the average of improving and continuous rate increased to 29%, which the capability of process are improved significantly in the case study company, And after the experiment cost-effectiveness analysis and calculation of annual savings of the cost of loss of NT $ 1,523,242.9.

Abstract On the development of electrical technology and consumer’s demand on the electric products, humans never stop chasing on the trend of high performance and complex. Based on the innovation of SOP (small outline package) technology, it is always on the movement of high pincounts (I/O), miniaturization and low cost. During the process of wire bonding, it uses gold wire to connect chips and substrates in order to bridge the electric signals in the Integrated Circuits, IC. The wire bonding process of semiconductor is on the progress of developing the high precision wire bonding technology of the bond pad fine pitch; furthermore, it also focuses on upgrading the skill of wire bonding. Therefore, the parameters are extremely important on the innovation of manufacturing process. Based on the optimization parameters, it is not only reducing the timeframe of innovation process, but it can also decrease the cost. Regarding to the variable quality characteristics on products and the optimization parameters, most of engineers make their determination only relied on their own personal experiences based on its different quality characteristics to distinguish its optimization combination for each characteristic. Therefore, an important subject what this industry is most concern about is how to utilize the optimization combination to discover the optimization parameters. This research will be focused on the operation of wire bonding via experimenting Taguchi’s method to determine the key factors, levels and optimization parameters. To analyze the strength of first bonding, it can apply the gold ball shear test and the quality characteristics of gold ball size. And then, the gold wire pull test can examine the strength of second bonding. As a result of the experiment, the optimization quality characteristics can be verified.

In general, the product tests are usually conduted before failure, but the commodity failure mode analysis is conducted to evaluate whether the defectives exist or not in products after accident or problems were occured . This work investigates the optimal structure for decrease the standard deviation of brightness for backlight module and researches the interactions among the constructional factors. It belongs to automatic control, the philosophy of Taguchi method is adopted and the L27 orthogonal array is used to arrange the experiments. Visual Basic program is used to set parameters, and simulated by LightTools though Windows Com, last step, the data base will be built in Excel. The best combination of constructional factors is determined by different goals and the interactions among the constructional factors. It is the best combination of constructional factors that decreasing the standard deviation and the brightness is acceptable. Finally, the best combination of constructional factors is optimized by LightTools. Four cases are studied in this research. In the first one, the LED, Nichia NJSW107, is used as the light sources, and three constructional factors, DotRadius, DotRadiusIncrement, and the separation of light sources, are chosen, each has three levels. At first, the system is simulated with ten million rays and results in an asymmetrical intensity distribution which should be symmetrical for such a system. The second simulation with 360 million rays gives better symmetrical results. In the first case, the light efficiency is only 13.57% that may be due to the big size of the chosen LED. In case two, a smaller LED, Nichia-NSSW004, is used and the separation between the LED and the back light guide is decreased. 45 million rays are traced. The light efficiency results in 68.84%. However, we also discover that the light uniformity close to the light source is decreased. The interactions among constructional factors are not evident which may because of the improper chosen of factors. New factors are used in the next. In the third case, four factors, DotRadius, the distance among the DotRadius, the distance among light sources, and DotRadiusIncrement, are used and 26 million rays are traced. Two obvious interactions are observed: one is between the factor DotRadius and the distance among light sources, and the other is between DotRadius and DotRadiusIncrement. The optimal designed system considering interactions among factors is much better than that without considering interactions. Although the brightness in the optimal design is somewhat less than that of the original design, the former has decreased standard deviation and improved uniformity as well. In the fourth case, the best system from case three is further optimized by LightTools. The standard deviation and uniformity are both improved. Our study successfully provides efficient procedures to improve the standard deviation and uniformity, and obtain acceptable brightness. It also emphasizes the importance of the interactions among constructional factors.

Moore's Law drives the integrated circuit to continuously increase its circuit density for which 3D stacking technology is essential by the technology of through silicon via (TSV). TSV provides vertical interconnections between stacking dies. However, due to thermal stresses induced by the mismatch of coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) between the related materials for TSV, structure reliability problems occur such as copper via pumping and interfacial delamination. Previous studies indicate that the induced thermal stress could lead to a piezoresistive effect on silicon which in turn causes undesirable carrier mobility in the device and affects the performance and reliability of the produced chip. In this study, a finite element method was adopted to investigate the stress distribution of TSV under thermal process to examine possible piezoresistive effects TSV on the n-MOS and p-MOS structure by changing the geometry of the structure of TSV, including TSV diameter, TSV aspect ratio, dielectric layer thickness and TSV pitches. The piezoresistive effect of MOS in the silicon lattice directions [100] and [110] was studied for carrier mobility change to determine the range of keep-out zone (KOZ). Taguchi method was used to further optimize the array TSVs to reduce the KOZ range. The results show that the sizes of KOZ of the chip can be significantly reduced to increase the distribution density of TSV of the chip.

This thesis applies Taguchi’s Method to design a large-scale liquid crystal display (LCD)backlight-module. The design approach is a type of straight direct-illumination, and the light source of the backlight module is a white light mixed by marketed white light-emitting diodes (LEDs)to substitute traditional CCFLs. Also, the light source modulation and the mold-up of the backlight module are carried out by using the TracePro optical simulation software. This study can effectively reduce the time and mistakes during the research and development process so that the cost of the research and development can be saved. In addition, the parameters of the backlight module, such as the shape and the reflectance of covers, the placement manner of LEDs, the radius of the light-guide hole of the microstructure upon the LED, the spacing on the bottom side, and the outward radius of the microstructure, can be optimized by using Taguchi’s method that both the efficiency and the performance of the module can be regarded, simultaneously, and the luminance distribution with high uniformity and high brightness can be achieved. The simulation result shows that the uniformity of 90.34% with an optical efficiency of 71.36% can be obtained by employing this method to a size of 30-inch direct LED backlight module.

Electronic products, in the development stage, need to go through numerous tests and be corrected in order to create a stable product. Therefore, how to minimize number of tests and time to achieve maximum test coverage has become an important factor that shortens the development cycle. In this study, we first discusse the traditional server testing methods and orthogonal array of Taguchi’s method. In the traditional test method, developers are based on historical experience to schedule the traditional test plan. However, it is freqently that, due to personal biases, testsing cover rate is consequently decreased, This condition can be ameliorated by using orthogonal array of Taguchi’s method. In our implementation, we firstly constructed control factor, level and orthogonal array of the test products, to produce orthogonal test plan. In comparison to the traditional test plan, the orthogonal test plan uses fewer number of test cases while achieves maximum test coverage. From the experimental results, it is apparently our method can effectively reduce the test time and shorten the development cycle.

To extend Moore’s law of semiconductor industry, photolithography constantly shrink critical dimension to increase integrated circuit density of each die. However, while semiconductor manufacturing is progressing to 40nm and below, the most important problem is the difficulty of lithography overlay control that will influence the limit of production yield, and the mask used for lithography process is also the key factor for lithography overlay quality. Semiconductor mask registration is one of key factors of lithography overlay control. In this thesis demonstrates, we found the mask registration average change 7.7 nm between pre and post pellicle mounting, mask flatness change of the pellicle mounting will induce mask registration inconsistent between pre and post pellicle. In this research, we setup the parameters of pellicle mounting procedure by Taguchi Methods which are used to obtain appropriate parameters to improve mask mounting quality. Experimental results verified the stable parameters could reduce quality characteristics from 6.86nm to 3.22nm and enhance wafer process quality.

This thesis proposes a Taguchi’s orthogonal arrays concept of which the efficiency of the flyback converter can be effectively improved by using a simple orthogonal array experimental design as well as a simplified factor response analysis and referring to small quantity of experimental statistics for further analysis. We expect to use the optimal parameter combination obtained by Taguchi Method for enhancing the efficiency of the flyback converter. That is, the Taguchi Method can be used to help us to understand the effects of the design factors including the switching frequency(fs), duty cycle(Duty) and boundary current(Iob) of a flyback converter. In this thesis, we fabricate one flyback converter with input of DC 155V and output of DC 12V/84W based on the best parameter combinations. Using orthogonal arrays L9, the optimal parameter combination is fs:50kHz, Duty:0.3 and Iob:4A. Then, the efficiency test of the flyback converter has been done. The result predicted with Taguchi Method is identical to what we test.

Due to the ever increasing deterioration of global warming, the awareness for environment protection has thus been enhanced by the humans. Many commodities, strategies have been fulfilled and improved in compliance with eco-friendly ideology. The eco-friendly hotels have thus been developed. The industry structure of Taiwan has already transformed into service-industry orientation mainly. The composition ratio of tourism in the service industry has been increasing in stable pace accordingly. The hotel industry is commonly assumed as the core of leisure and tourism industry development. However, the government has not yet enacted a set of legal standards regulating the emerging eco-friendly hotels. The major claim of this research is that legal standards shall be enacted in compliance with the development trend of environment protection globally for regulating and governing this industry development.This research also conducted survey on hotel-room courtesy kits and hotel guests’ mental expectations concerning tourist accommodation. The reference document collection and questionnaire Taguchi Methods were integrated in this research for analyzing the domestic tourists’ demands for hotel-room spare in the eco-friendly hotels. The research conclusion is that the tourists’ necessary spare are 6 in total. Three factors, including “tissue paper”, “towels & bath towels” and “toothpaste & toothbrushes” demonstrate the highest significance. The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was applied on analyzing the positive significant influence ratio of each individual kit for sorting out the best kit assembly and quantity. The research result indicates that supply only set of court kit can already reach the highest customer satisfaction. Hopefully, this research conclusion and result can help achieve the highest customer satisfaction for the supply of hotel room courtesy kit by eco friendly hotels.

ABSTRACT The Red-Blue-Green (RBG) process of color filter influences the color performance of TFT-LCD. The film deposition process of conductive Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), a key process of color filter fabrication, affects the display brightness. This process forms the positive-negative diodes with the pattern electrodes on array substrates to twist the liquid crystal molecules between two electrodes. Because of the low resistance and high transmittance requirements, a stable fabrication process is required. This research used Taguchi method to improve the color filter quality. The experiments were conducted at a color filter factory located in north Taiwan. Several control parameters of ITO’s film deposition process were used in the experiments, and significant factors affecting thin film properties were identified. The experiment data were analyzed based on Orthogonal Array L18 with multiple variable calculations. ANOVA and S/N were also used to find the optimal process parameters of ITO deposition leading to improved film quality properties such as low resistance and high uniformity. The result of this study could be a good reference for setting up the next generation factory.

In the optical communication system, coupler is one of indispensable components. The purpose of couplers is about to control power. To meet this demand for optical directional couplers, the adiabatic optical directional full coupler (AODFC) which is one of adiabatic directional coupler (ADC) is a nice choice. This coupler has some advantages over the conventional one such as more bandwidth, polarization insensitivity to fabrication. The optimal design for ADOFC function conditions determined by Taguchi’s method with beam propagation method (BPM) to try and find the best sets of coupling waveguide structure tolerance parameters range of adiabatic optical directional full coupler for reducing the low crosstalk、short coupler length and board bandwidth. In accordance with Taguchi’s method and BPM simulation process, the working time of simulation and optimization experimentally can be greatly reduced. Taguchi’s method his contributions have also made the practitioner work simpler by advocating the use of fewer experimental designs. In this paper, the result of optimization coupling waveguide structure design of AODFC by Chen、Blackman、Hamming and Modification-hamming function are investigated. When the crosstalk has been set -40dB, the Total average of coupler length is below 7000 , bandwidth is over 200nm.

One of the basic assumptions of Taguchi’s parameter design is that the error variances are not equal for all treatment conditions. Thus, the optimal level combination of parameters is determined by maximizing signal-to-noise ratio for the-smaller-the-better and the-larger-the-better type quality characteristics. On the contrary, one of the basic assumptions of experimental design is that the error variances are equal for all treatment conditions. Thus, the factor level combinations whose quality characteristic is significant different from the other factors is found by using ANOVA. If the assumption of the later is true, then there is an alpha risk that Taguchi method may fail to select the optimal level combinations. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the alpha risk of Taguchi method for STB type problem using simulation.

Searching optimum problem is very important in engineering field. There are many methods to solve this problem but no one can assure that the optimum found is the global optimum. We can only have a conclusion that one method can find a better optimum solution than another method. One conventional approach to find optimum is Taguchi method which was applied very widely and successfully in many disciplines. Another approach is Neurogenetic method which includes artificial neural network and genetic algorithm. This method has emerged as a very effective and powerful method to search optimum solution. The purpose of this study is to compare the conventional method with the new method in finding optimum design and calculating contribution of each factor. Thus, these two methods were applied for finding optimal solution of the lag screw which plays a very important role in curing patients. Because the lag screw needs bending strength which resists breakage and pullout strength which resists loosening, the two methods were exploited to find optimal solution for each bending case and pullout case separately. From the results, the optimum found by Neurogentic method is better than the optimum found by Taguchi method, especially in the bending case which is the more complex case compared to pullout case. It means that the more complicated relationship between factors and response the better optimum solution can be found by Neurogenetic method compared to Taguchi method. Besides, using artificial neural network, the contribution of each factor could be calculated by Modified Profile method and the results were similar to the contribution calculated by analysis of variance in Taguchi method. This study is an objective suggestion for engineers in choosing method to find the optimum solution. The Taguchi method should be applied if the case is simple because the Taguchi method is systematic, simple and easy to achieve the result. The Neurogenetic method should be applied if the case is complex because using Neurogenentic method can obtain better optimum solutions. It is a notice that if the artificial neural network is well-trained, the Neurogenetic can be very powerful and can be applied in many situations, like: multi-objective optimization.

This study aimed to explore the warpage effects of different injection factors in the injection molding process. The mold flow analysis software (Moldflow Plastics Insight 5.0) combined with the Taguchi method and response surface analysis to find the optimal injection parameters. The significant parameters for warpage were found by Taguchi method, which was packing time, packing pressure and filling pressures. These factors were applied to obtain minimum warpage through response surface analysis. The results are useful for understanding the correlation between the molding factors and the warping. The mold flow analysis software is valuable for injection molding technology and may contribute to future applications.

Abstract In traditional medical diagnosis, doctors usually diagnose patients according to their experiences. Following the computerization of medical systems, there are more and more tacit information in it. If we can use the advanced method of data analysis to find the correlation between the disease feature and disease, it will help doctors for enhancing the accuracy of disease diagnosis. Many researchers have been confirmed that machine learning technology can improve disease diagnosis accuracy significantly. SVM (Support Vector Machine) has been generally used in classification and forecasting issues. There are two problems when using SVM, one is choosing the input feature, the other is parameters setting of SVM. How to find optimal feature selection and parameters setting at the same time will be an important topic. An approach we proposed is based on taguchi method for feature selection and parameter design, then applying ant algorithm to find the parameters of SVM. The used databases are medical datasets form University of California at Irvine (UCI) Machine Learning Repository. The experiment results show our proposed approach uses less features and better parameters to improve total accuracy and comparable with BPNN (Back Propagation Neural Network). The main purpose of this paper is to examine the application of Taguchi method and program TracePro optical simulation software, to do for the optoelectronics industry in LED lighting design and analysis, and low-cost, high-quality objectives for the design. Taguchi method will be establish the best combination of parameters, the material of the lighting tube, cross-section shape of the lighting tube, cutting angle on both sides of the lighting tube, cutting height above the lighting tube, the type of the lens on both sides of the lighting tube and the type of notch above the lighting tube, such as six factors can be controlled and used to do five standard design parameters. By using the Taguchi method orthogonal arrays, tableL25(56), to set the parameters. We simulated in TracePro, and obtained 25 sets of simulation results, and calculate the results to identify the main effects of the process elements. Then we got the best response between the various factors. Taguchi method can be effectively reduce simulation times to 25, the 6 factors and the 5 levels of each factor to be done the simulation to 15625 times. The designers can get better design parameters in a short time. The original design of lighting tube without optimization by Taguchi method, the situation in TracePro simulated irradiance for 0.41353 W/m2. The design by using Taguchi method had the better irradiance for 0.80217 W/m2 in TracePro into the simulation, the irradiance was improved significantly.

Taguchi method is a widely used approach for parameter design. The overall goal of parameter design is to find settings of the controllable factors so that the response is least sensitive to variations in the noise variables, while still yielding an acceptable mean level of the response. To achieve this goal, Taguchi utilizes an orthogonal array (OA) to obtain dependable information about the design parameter with minimum time and resources. Then, he adopts signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio as a quality measure evaluate performance. In the statistical analysis of S/N ratio, analysis of variance (ANOVA) is performed to determine significant factor effects. In ANOVA, Taguchi suggests pooling-up technique to obtain an estimate of error variance and adopts F value of four to decide significant factor effects. Taguchi method has widespread applications upstream in manufacturing to fine-tune a process in such a manner that the output is insensitive to noise factors. Nevertheless, this method was the subject of discussion and much debate among statisticians in different platforms. This research proposes an extension to ongoing research by investigating the alpha risk of Taguchi method, or the probability of identifying insignificant factors as significant, with mostly used OAs for different type static quality characteristics (QCH) using simulation. In this research, it is assumed that all QCH values are normally distributed with the same mean and standard deviation. Consequently, the null hypothesis that all factors are identified as insignificant is true. However, simulation results reveal that the alpha risk is very high with all OAs, which may provide erroneous conclusions in parameter design.

Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) offer tremendous advantages including power savings, light weight, no radiation, and convenient portability. LCDs are gradually replacing conventional display elements and becoming widely used in auto navigation systems, notebook computers, etc. Generally, LCDs industry uses plasma washing process to improve product output rate. Optimizing settings for plasma washing machine is of great interest in this research. For this purpose, Taguchi method is applied to investigate the effects of three two-level control factors utilizing L4 orthogonal array. Since, the quality characteristic (QCH) is order category data, thus accumulation analysis is employed to analyze QCH and improve LCD terminal cleanliness. The results show that optimal machine settings dramatically boost terminal cleanliness. In the solder printing process of surface mount technology, L18 orthogonal array is utilized to investigate one two-level and seven three-level control factors. The optimum factor settings are identified by those maximizing signal-to-noise ratios. Adopting optimal process settings improves the performance index Cpk of solder printing process from 0.64 to 1.97. As a result, this may lead to significant quality improvement for this process. In conclusions, measuring response values in a robust design requires selection of key quality characteristics which should affect dramatically product functionality and lead to quality improvement.

The purpose of this study is to propose a quick and efficient method to assist for the manufacturing process improvement, especially, for facilitating mass production smoothly during the new product developing stage. The research employs Taguchi Quality Engineering & Fuzzy Sets Theory to analyze each quality characteristic in the SMT processes. The integration of Principal Component Analysis & Grey Relational Analysis is used for analyzing synthetically Multiple Quality Characteristics (MQC) to obtain the optimal process parameter combinations for the control factors. Thus, it aims to create one algorithmic model, which can gain the best parameter combinations efficiently to meet the design specification, for the optimization of the MQC process as well as for the engineer to follow up while handling this kind of issue. In the experimental verification, there are two methodologies applied: one is fuzzy judgment data (Qualitative Measurements); another is practical measurement data (Quantitative Measurements). Finally, this research compares these two methodologies and concludes that the fuzzy judgments can replace the practical measurements. For example, (1) The profile/resolution of solder printing can be used to represent the “soldering thickness” and replace the practical thickness measurement. (2) The visual inspection of the “printing deviation” in terms of semantic values can be used to determine the degree of deviation instead of the practical measurement. The replacements mentioned without the precise inspection facilities but the fuzzy judgments by the engineer or inspector, still won’t impact the selection of the optimal parameter combinations.

In this study was design a new type badminton trainer. And we use Taguchi Method to study how to serve the shuttle optimization.   The badminton robot on the market was use two motors with two friction rollers. The price is too expensive to the general public. In this study was design a badminton robot with one AC servo motor and two fiction rollers. And use 1:5gearbox to speed up the friction rollers rotate. The new designs cut costs because it reduced one motor.   After the Taguchi experiment, we got the best combination of parameters, and conducted the best experiment. In the experimental results, the experiment reached the set goal.

In processes of the casting of steel billet, molten metal is tapped into the ladle from furnaces. After undergoing ladle treatments and arriving at the correct temperature (more than 1600 ℃), the ladle is transported to the top of the casting machine (Usually the ladle sits in a slot on a rotating turret at the casting machine). From the ladle, the hot metal is transferred to a holding bath called a tundish.Metal is drained through the tundish and into all the mold. The mold is water-cooled to solidify the hot metal directly in contact with it; this is the primary cooling process. It also oscillates vertically (or in a near vertical curved path) to prevent the metal sticking to the mold walls. After primary cooling process, Straightener Withdrawal Units In this configuration, the billet is straightened the billet. Following the straightener, the billet is cut into 150mm width and different lengths by mechanical shears or by travelling oxyacetylene torches and the billet is cut into individual pieces of the following as-cast products: slabs, bloom, billets, or beam blanks.The present research proposal, the close tolerance is controlled by the existing infrared scale system technology in the process of continuous casting of steel billets by using hydraulic shearing average length of 12080mm; when not been used under the Taguchi Methods, steel billets cutting length tolerances is in the range of +/- 30mm to 50 mm.In order to correct and adjust the iris of infrared scale system, contrast, brightness of optical aberration to find the best timing to cut during hydraulic shearing, in this research, the Taguchi method was used during the process of steel billet casting to analyze the relative feed flow, molten metal velocity, secondary cooling water, mold oscillation device, speed of Tundishand the relative illumination of infrared scale system as to get the best parameter design of monitoring factor, so that the deviation of steel billet size can drop to 0mm ~ 10mm and to reach the best quality of steel billet cutting and reduce the loss of material so as to make the continuous casting of steel billet has rapid change in size to meet the market demand for different sizes of steel, also to save energy, cost, manpower, and material loss to improve production efficiency.
