Arslan, Elif. "Rheological Characterization Of Tahin/pekmez (sesame Paste/concentrated Grape Juice) Blends." Master's thesis, METU, 2004. http://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/1098581/index.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the rheological properties of tahin/pekmez blends at different tahin concentrations (20-32%) and temperatures (35-65 &deg<br>C) by using a concentric cylinder rotational viscometer. Samples were sheared with seven different rotational speeds at an increasing order. The shear rates (0.75-63.9 s-1) were calculated by the Power-law Approximation method. Tahin/pekmez blends were found to exhibit non-Newtonian, shear thinning behavior at all temperatures and tahin concentrations. The experimental data of apparent viscosity versus shear rate were successfully described by the Power-law model. The model parameters<br>flow behavior index, n varied in the range of 0.7-0.85, whereas the values for the consistency coefficient, K, were in the range of 282-2547 mPa.sn. Apparent viscosity and consistency coefficient of blends increased with increasing tahin concentration and decreasing temperature. Temperature dependency of K was described by an Arrhenius-type equation. Activation energies (Ea) of the blends appeared in the range of 13376-28592 J/mol as the tahin concentration was increased from 20% to 32%. The effect of temperature on n was found to be significant but did not follow any descriptive trend. The relationship between K and tahin concentration was explained by exponential and power functions while tahin concentration had no significant effect on flow behavior index. Power function was found to be superior in explaining the variation of Ea with tahin concentration. A mathematical model was formulated to determine the combined effect of temperature, tahin concentration and shear rate on apparent viscosity.

Rijal, Syamsul. "Making Hizbiyyin: Hizbut Tahrir in South Sulawesi." Thesis, Canberra, ACT : The Australian National University, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/1885/119663.

Full text
Abstract:
This sub-thesis examines the emergence of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) through its methods of recruitment and indoctrination. A branch of international Hizbut Tahrir (HT), in comparison to the performance of other transnational Islamist movements in Indonesia, HTI shows rapid mobilization, strong cadre building and a deep grasp of and adherence to central HT ideology. HT has been present in Indonesia since the early 1980s, initially as an underground organization, then from 2000, as a formal Islamist movement. The transition to democracy and the lifting of political restrictions at the end of the Soeharto regime in May, 1998 facilitated the rise of HTI. This study focuses on the strategies and processes of recruitment and indoctrination employed by HTI, taking as a case study its members in Makassar, South Sulawesi. It will demonstrate the importance of innovative recruitment techniques and intensive indoctrination to understanding HTI's success. It will discuss HTI perspectives on da’wa (predication) and activities for recruitment and mobilization as outlined in their publications. Furthermore, through interviews conducted in the field, it will examine the experiences of rank and file members in dealing with their acquaintance with HTI and their processes of participation and membership. Most recruitment takes place through interpersonal relations between HTI members, the hizbiyyin and existing social networks. Furthermore, hizbiyyin actively seek converts by establishing and maintaining new social relationships in order to guide others to participate in HTI activities, before leading them to further levels of commitment. This sub-thesis will also explore how indoctrination has a determining role in creating dedicated hizbiyyin. This is mainly conducted through weekly halqa, or study clubs, which serve to keep new recruits learning, moulding their minds and behaviour and maintaining unity of thought among the members. Besides discussing the social background of hizbiyyin and the psychology of youth, it will show the impact of intensive indoctrination on them by analyzing their narratives given in interviews.

Abstract:
One of my greatest hopes, after I had finished my M.A was to visit the British Library in London, in particular the section on oriental manuscripts. I soon fulfilled this desire and following the examination of the index of the manuscripts, I hoped to find one on the Language of al-Fiqh [Language of Jurisprudence] in particular. I found a manuscript by aI-Imam al-Nawawi which was amongst many others also belonging to him. This manuscript was entitled al-Tah• rlr fi Sharh • al-Ffiz al-Tan blh , which provides detailed explanations of the terms found in • al-Tanblh by aI-Shirazi that required further interpretation, mainly from a linguistic and occasionally from a religious side. Qadi Safad, an eminent • • scholar, stated that " the book of al-Tahrlr is of great benefit and of . - widespread use for every knowledge seeker" (DIQ, p. 91). The status of al- Tahrlr, was due to its focus on the language of al-Fiqh, taking into account the - vanous linguistical aspects too. Occasionally, religious meanings are also provided. Al-Tahrlr explains the uncommon terms that were present in al-Tanblh by al- I ShirazI. Al-Tanblh is considered to be one of the main and most important works ever to be compiled in the Shafi'i Jurisprudence School in the fourth century AH. Therefore, many scholars, including al-Nawawi went on to compile books regarding it, explaining, commenting, criticising and sUlrunanzmg it. AI-Tahrir is amongst one of these. As scholars in the early • centuries compiled books in Gharib al-Lughah, Gharib al-Hadith and Gharib A _'. al-Quran, they also compiled books in Gharib al-Fiqh, one of which is the book that I have edited. Al-Nawawi, an accomplished scholar and author, attained a hig-h status in the oriental libraries and studies. AI-Ta.hr ir was amon-gst m-any of his distinguished works, which were a site of attraction for many researchers. Al-Nawawi in al- Ta~rir referred to many linguistics books, which were wellknown and available at his time, such as Kiti1b al- 'A.y n b-y aI-Khalil,- al- Tahdhib and al-Zi1hir by al-Azhari, al-Muhkam by Ibn Sidah and many others. In the editing of al-Ta~rir. I compared nine different manuscripts, all from different places and made the Berlin manuscript the main one, comparing the remammg eight with it. The Berlin manuscript is symbolized by (I). The differences in the manuscripts are noted at the bottom of each page (foot note). In authenticating and documenting al-Nawawl's explanations, I referred to the notable dictionaries and sources that al-Nawawi himself also referred to. I also made reference to the books of al-Gharib (uncommon words)~ Ghar'ib al- Lughah. Gharfb al-Quri1n. Gharib al-ljadith. Mi1 TaltlGnu Ffhi al- 'Ammah, history, biographies and others. Where necessary, I have commented on these explanations and these can be found following the text, in volume two in the chapter entitled 'al-Takhnjat wa al-Ta'liqat 'ala al-Nas.' Following this is a list of indexes; tenns, names, places, measurements, Quranic and Hadith verses . • I have dedicated a chapter to the language of al-Fiqh, its origin, how it has emerged, its chronological history and books compiled in this field. I also dedicated a chapter to the political and educational situation in al-Nawawi's era followed by a chapter on the life of al-Nawawi, his milieu and his works. I have given the editorial method followed by the description of the nine manuscripts. I have provided a summarized comparison between the works of al-Nawawi in al-Tahrfr and of al-Azhan in al-Zahir. I shed light on the • educational background of both authors, their subject topic, al-Azhan's impact on al-Nawawi, the methodology of the works of both scholars, similarities and differences, conclusion and an evaluation. I have assigned a chapter for the biography of the names mentioned in al-Ta~rfr followed by a bibliography.

Qutbuddin, Aziz K. "Tahmid : a literary genre? : a study of the Arabic laudatory preamble, with a focus on the Fatimid-Tayyibi tradition." Thesis, SOAS, University of London, 2009. http://eprints.soas.ac.uk/29295/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis follows the emergence and development of Tahmid, the Arabic laudatory preamble, as a literary genre in the Arabic tradition: a genre that imaginatively presents the distinct worldview (weltanschauung) that its author embraces and a genre that not only features as a standard introduction for an infinite number of texts, but is also, in and of itself, a rich source of meaning. The dissertation proposes a literary approach for unearthing its depths of knowledge, termed the 'relational approach'. This approach identifies and focuses on the various relations and associations, highlighted and evoked by a Tahmid despite its usual conciseness, which are the source of its vitality. Drawing upon a broad range of samples, the study also delineates the common characteristics and trends of the Tahmid tradition as a whole, and focuses on its distinctiveness and significance in Fatimid-Tayyibi literature ('Fatimid-Tayyibi' refers to Ismili Musta'lian Tayyibi Shiites in Fatimid Egypt as well as their spiritual successors in Yemen and India, commonly known as the Da'udi Bohras). Following the introduction, the thesis is structured on a chronological basis in three parts. Section-I (chapters 1-3) traces the development of Tahmid from its origins to maturity as a distinct genre in Arabic prose. Section-II (chapter-4), building on the literary-history presented in the previous section, presents a methodology for the analysis of Tahmid and applies it to a selection of examples. Section-III (chapters 5-7) focuses on the unique characteristics of Fatimid-Tayyibi Tahmids and presents an analysis of a number of examples. The section ends with a case-study of a Tahmid in one of the Fatimid-Tayyibi Da'i Syedna Taher Saifuddin's (d. 1385/1965) risalahs. The question posited in the title of this thesis, 'is the Tahmid a literary genre?' is answered in the Conclusion. An appendix of Tahmids referred to in the thesis and illustrative samples, especially from the Fatimid-Tayyibi manuscripts, accompanies the dissertation in a separate volume.

Abstract:
Comment un discours global s'ajuste-t-il aux réalités locales et sociales ?<br>The Indonesian Hizb ut -Tahrir, "Social Organization" whose origins come from the Middle East, aims to establish a caliphate with the sharia as the only law. Because it is legal in Indonesia, the Women's Branch of Hizb ut -Tahrir Indonesia (the Muslimah Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia) offers through its Collective Actions and Mobilization (or recruitment) Process, a high Visibility of their Activities. This current Visibility allowed us to conduct a Field among its Members between 2009 and early 2013. This Field gave us the Opportunity to try and understand the Motivation of these Women to become Activists and to build a new Identity in an Organization such as the MHTI. The MHTF Framing Structures induces a Plurality of Approaches to female Audiences. We can raise the following Question : do these Communication Strategies give MHTI's Women an Opportunity to stand out from the Leadership of HT's Line whose Leadership is forbidden for Women ? Or "on the Contrary", is the Space given to Women a Way to strengthen the role of Men? What is the Degree of Dissidence tolerated by MHTI Women ? Finally, the Method of HT which has a Form of Interaction with the Society raises the Question of its Discourse Reception among the People. Is it seen as a form of oppression or on the contrary, is it an opportunity of an opening to Discussion? How does a global Discourse adjusts to local and social Realities?

Abou, El Fadl Bassma. "A performative space: socio-spatial practices in Tahrir Square during the Egyptian Revolution of 2011." Thesis, IMT Alti Studi Lucca, 2014. http://e-theses.imtlucca.it/152/1/Aboudelfadl_phdthesis.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
The occupation of public squares during the Arab Spring in 2011 across the Middle East and North Africa have revealed new layers of complex practices of liberation used to counter the strategies of the regime’s security apparatus. There emerged a need to critically detect and analyse the spatial practices of the liberated spaces as forms of sustained resistance that facilitated political gains. During the 18 days of the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, public space, long neglected, again became a political domain that witnessed unusual spatial practices and a contested terrain for society, in sum, a space for protest and resistance for the entire population of Cairo. This research shall focus on Tahrir Square in Cairo as ‘space of politics’ during the eighteen days long Egyptian Revolution, i.e., from Jan 25 till Feb 11 2011. The aim of the research is to investigate how socio-spatial practices transformed public space from being a congested traffic hub into an active and animated space for resistance that was equally accessible to different factions, social strata, media outlets, and urban social groupings, as determined by popular cultures and social responsibilities. It advances our knowledge on the way social movements manipulate, manage and occupy vast urban spaces with great flexibility and autonomous spatial tactics. Tahrir Square was reproduced, in a process of “space adaptation,”1 to accommodate forms of social organization and administration. This adaptation of space embedded spatial patterns of activities and practices from the earliest days, all of which shall be described and classified by the research through a frame structure. This research investigates the physical appearance of democratic performance in public space through acts of resistance over a delineated space from three-years of socio-spatial fieldwork and spatio-political research. The thesis employs an inter-disciplinary case study methodology comprising of two phases – descriptive explanatory and exploratory – to investigate the change in socio-spatial practices and dynamics of urban space. In this research, an interactive representation of narratives will be presented in order to address the complexity of the problem, i.e., the integration of architectural, social, political, historical, and spatial materials to construct a multi-layered analysis and significant account. Diverse research methods are utilized, such as: the collection of historical background data of space, contemporary reports, unstructured interviews with 50 involved actors, documented narratives, and direct observations. Through undertaking analytical surveys and decoding of information of the events, a systematic classification of socio-spatial patterns and distribution of activities of daily intervals through the five main themes was generated. This research presents a matrix of analytical maps tracing the five main themes: hospitalization and emergency support, living and life needs supplies, media and news display, prayers and ritual practices, and art and freedom of expression. This matrix is a tool with which to display conflict over space, and explicitly, how Tahrir Square was re-conceptualized. In doing so, this thesis deploys innovative ways to highlight social practices that spatially occupied a significant part of downtown Cairo and how changes occurred over the time. Studying the evidence of each theme separately, the dynamics and changing location of activities and rational processes of management can be systematically analyzed and the complexity of the performative space understood. The physical space, hence, became a socio-spatial sphere that is adjustable, flexible domain of human praxis rather than a rigid physical container of human actors. Thus, this approach proposes a new perspective for looking at the recent uprisings and revolts in public squares through tracing their dynamics and socio-spatial practices. This can be useful in understanding similar cases of uprisings and suggests the value of further research into the process of re-conceptualization of public space. The research presented here, and it is supporting methodology, developed as a way to capture the values and capacities that are in play during such particular ‘spatial of revolt’. The thesis is a valuable addition to literature on the understanding of qualities of, human interaction with urban spaces, and their political role in the contemporary city. It has potential application for activists, public space occupiers, planners, architects, anthropologists, theorists and dictators or governments seeking to control urban unrest.

Abstract:
Our research is aimed at discussing Durand\'s Theory of the Imaginary World (1996) as a theoretical-methodological proposal for Mathematical Education, in a cross-curricular perspective, according to D´Ambrosio and Vergani. This proposal comes alive through Mythocriticism, in an attempt to unveal teacher Júlio César de Mello e Souza, or Malba Tahan\'s main personal myths. This search or myth hunt involves a mythical analysis of Malba Tahan\'s pedagogial discourse in Al-Karismi magazine and in his works The Man Who Calculated and Didactics of Mathematics. Parallelly, the topic proposed for this paper - The Shadow of the Rainbow: a historical-mythocritical study of Malba Tahan\'s pedagogical discourse - retraces the author\'s life story by means of a bibliographical-documental, mythical and mathematical analysis of the works referred to and studied at the Malba Tahan Institute. They define mathematics teacher Júlio César de Mello e Souza\'s main personal myths and trace his route in the Night Image Mode with a synthetic micro-universe. This way, the investigation unveals the main myths as a key strand in Malba Tahan\'s pedagogical discourse and personal route - like the rare phenomenon of the Shadow of the Rainbow - and paves the way for new research topics in Mathematical Education, whenever it involves trends in Etnomathematics and Mathematical Education.

Abstract:
Liberal Arab thought has long been fighting for elbow room in the political discourse in Egypt. The ruling nationalist–statist ideology from Nasser to Mubarak is renown for its repression of political dissidents, and the Islamist opposition often side with the ruling elite in its resistance against liberal reformers and democratization. Political liberalism is associated with a host of professional andpersonal risks and many are silenced. The Arab Spring revolutions across the MENA from December 2010 throughout the spring of 2011, however, seem to have revived the interest for liberal ideas in the Arab world. This thesis investigates the impact of the Arab Spring on the liberal Arab discourse in Egypt. It asks whether the revolution has lead to increased opportunities for liberal Arabs to voice their opinions, and how the tone of the public debate has been affected. A discourse analytical researchmethod is used to scrutinize thirty opinion pieces from two major Egyptian newspapers in the timeframe November 2010–September 2011, on eight sample days. The work also considers 115 articles published after the revolution on the sample days to monitor the impact of the events on the public debate quantitatively. The study finds that the most salient feature after February 2011 in the op-ed material examined is the forming of the “Tahrir Square discourse,” a symbolically charged ideational entity that associates itself with liberal political rhetoric and values. It is a major influence during the stated period affecting 77% of the 115 post-revolution articles. The Tahrir Square discourse is an expression of a more permissive climate for voicing liberal and reform-friendly opinions, the thesis concludes. The empirical material exhibits more profuse mentioning of and advocacy for these values after the revolution. The tenor and rhetorical mode vary greatly in the studied articles; despite this, a broad support for the revolution itself is present. The study, however, is reluctant as to the permanence of these changes.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes contemporary foreign relations of Egypt. In the first part of the thesis theoretical basis of the Tahrir revolution is discussed. The second part analyzes the impact of this event on the foreign policy position of Egypt in international relations on the example of relations with the United States, the European Union, including a separate analysis of the Egyptian-Czech relations, and the countries of the Gulf and the Middle East. Although two groups of actors changed representing the ruling elite - the military, the Islamists and the army again, both of them eventually apply the same approaches in the context of the foreign policy. This approach is characterized by particularly strong ties to the country's traditional partners, especially the U.S. and the rich Gulf states.

Deste modo, tais resultados mostram que as concepções malbatahânicas estabelecem uma mobilização interdisciplinar, no intuito de pensar, elaborar e decidir quais propostas e intervenções podem ser aplicadas a partir de um trabalho interativo e dialógico da Matemática com a Literatura, assim como destas com as demais áreas do saber.<br>The main objective of this work was to rescue, implement and evaluate the educational practice of Júlio César de Mello e Souza, Malba Tahan pseudonym, and interdisciplinarity as a possible way to start understanding the mathematical concepts in early childhood education, overcoming the difficulties of teaching math in the 5th year of elementar school and promote internal continuing education of teachers from kindergarten and elementary school of the Institute of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Salesian Schools Network), located in Guaratingueta, Brazil. Abstract:
Under året förändrades tonläget i reportagen.

Khan, Muhammad Tahir. "Involving Domain Experts in the construction of OWL ontologies: experience oriented and tool base support for template-based modelling and knowledge reuse." Doctoral thesis, University of Trento, 2014. http://eprints-phd.biblio.unitn.it/1216/2/Tahir-PhD-Thesis.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
Current ontology engineering methodologies and tools follow an iterative ontology authoring approach where Knowledge Engineers gather the requirements for the ontology from the Domain Experts interpret them and add them to the ontology. Domain Experts can verify, validate or suggest revisions in the ontology. The recent increase in popularity of lightweight OWL (Web Ontology Language) ontologies has created the need for faster, more agile and effective methods to support the task of ontology creation. This need is testified by efforts that focus on enabling Domain Experts to better participate in the process of ontology construction, making them able not only to provide domain knowledge to Knowledge Engineer but also to directly contribute to the editing of certain parts of the ontology. The contribution of this dissertation is threefold. In the first part of this dissertation, we investigate how to reuse already formalised knowledge, such as foundational, core, and domain specific ontologies, to support the construction of templates for the enterprise modelling domain. Templates are a popular strategy for involving Domain Experts in ontology authoring but a typical problem with this approach is that Knowledge Engineers have to create them from scratch every time they face a new modelling scenario. Libraries of reusable templates can help the work of Knowledge Engineers and support Domain Experts in providing their domain knowledge. We report our findings and lesson learned both from the concrete experience of building the templates and from a survey carried out for their evaluation. The second contribution of this dissertation is the reuse of already formalised knowledge to enrich domain specific taxonomies with knowledge involving relations by means of restriction axioms. In this contribution, at first we have presented a skeleton of a very general method called GENERATOR (Guided entity reuse and class expression generator). Second, a specific instantiation of GENERATOR, called FORZA (Foundational Ontology and Reasoner-enhanced axiomatiZAtion), for the reuse of knowledge contained DOLCE-lite and mereoTopoD is defined. As a final contribution of this dissertation, we present an approach based on Decision Diagrams or a Question-Answering (QA) system to choose the most appropriate category from a reference model (ontology or reference schema) without being exposed to the model itself. This contribution is instantiated in two different Decision Diagrams. The first one for the selection of the most appropriate template among the ones developed for the enterprise modelling scenario, and the second one for choosing the most appropriate DOLCE-lite category to support the FORZA method. As a proof-of-concept, implementation of FORZA and templates has been integrated with the MoKi ontology development environment.

Abstract:
This dissertation presents a study on the making of comic books inspired in some of the short stories of MalbaTahan’s The Man Who Counted and the exploration of mathematical concepts in the reading and production of these stories by elementary school students. It offers a contextualization of comic books from their origin, emphasizing their emergence and development in Brazil, besides their presence in school mathematics education. The dissertation also focuses on an important Brazilian author, writer and mathematics teacher, presenting his trajectory and using one of his works to instigate the written production of students. The study took place in the Almirante Raphael Brusque Elementary Education Municipal School, located in the city of Pelotas, RS, Brazil, during 20 weekly meetings and involved a class of eight graders who live in the Z3 fisher Colony. In its planning we defined some phases which brought together activities related to the fields of literature, mathematics and arts. Regarding the application of these activities in the classroom, which were developed by three groups adding up to 13 students, we considered the reading of some short stories narrated by the character Beremiz, the interpretation of their corresponding mathematical problems, and the creation of new stories, including their transformation to comic book format. The new stories were inspired in those stories and included some sociocultural characteristics of the Z3 fisher Colony. During the development of the activities we observed the commitment and the progress of the students while engaged in the several tasks that provided support for this study, which resulted in the written production of three comic books.

Zaky, Radamis. "Is the Canadian Media Ready for a Tahrir Moment?: Comparing the Canadian Media’s Framing Strategy of Social Movements at Home and Abroad." Thesis, Université d'Ottawa / University of Ottawa, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10393/31690.

Full text
Abstract:
Mainstream media use “the protest paradigm” in framing social movements. The protest paradigm frames protests negatively by marginalizing protesters, trivializing their demands, focusing more on violent and dramatic issues instead of trying to establish a rational discussion around the reasons behind the protests and by neglecting the existence of their presence by simply not covering the protests at all. . The main function of a social movement is to challenge the status quo, while a main function of the mainstream media is arguably to contribute to the governance of society and the maintenance of public order; in a sense, to maintain the status quo. Thus, a main reason behind the consistent usage of the protest paradigm in covering protests is the conflict between social movements and mainstream media in society. But is it easier for mainstream Canadian media to challenge the status quo abroad than at home? Are Canadian media more reliant on the protest paradigm for covering global protest than local ones? Grounded in the theory of Media Framing, particularly the works of Entman (1993) this thesis compares the framing strategy that various Canadian media outlets applied while covering the 2011 Egyptian Uprising and the Occupy Toronto Movement. Empirical data collected by conducting deductive content analysis is applied to the coverage of the Toronto Edition of the Toronto Star, The Global and Mail and The Toronto Sun during the 18 days of the Egyptian uprising in January and February 2011 and the 42 days of Occupy Toronto from October 14th till November 24th, 2011 . The main argument of this thesis is that the Canadian media did not follow consist framing strategy in covering the two protests’ activities. The literature of the protest and media only focus on the notion of challenging the status quo without taking into consideration the factor of the location of the protests. Consequently, this paper is trying to add the location factor to the literature by trying to discover if the Canadian media is taking the same position from social movements that challenge the status quo regardless of where it is taking place or not.

Full text
Abstract:
The events of September 11th 2001 increased the attention of Western public towards religious activism in Germany. In fact, this country had become a shelter for radicalized Islamic activists involved in the terrorist attacks. At the same time, the growing domestic violence performed by organized right-wing activists urged the German state to increase pressure on the German right-wing movement. In part, these attacks were related to a terrorist cell called National Socialist Underground (NSU). This cell is said to be closely related to the National Democratic Party of Germany (Nationaldemokratische Partei Deutschlands, hereinafter NPD). Since then, the public debate about migration, Islam and the German society has undergone significant changes while the government of the Federal Republic has become interested in controlling and labeling each protest movement, whichever their affiliation may be, left, right or religious. In the case of the Islamist movement Hizb-ut-tahrir (Party of Liberation), this resulted in the banning of its activities from the country. The NPD, although still legal, barely survived an authority ban attempt in 2003. The dissertation’s main research question is how repression by the state affects the Protest mobilization, in particular public communication, of the Right-wing and the Islamist movements. More specifically, the goal is to see how these movements mobilize within changing conditions of the political environment, namely in the presence, or absence, of a more or less serious possibility of legal banning, which obviously would exert a significant deal of pressure on the movement. The claim-making that the Islamist and radical right-wing movement address to the public and their adherents constitutes the unit of analysis of this thesis. In order to define these claims, it is necessary to document protest claims and actions within the selected time frame, which covers the period between 2000 and 2011. The data set is mainly consisting of publications, articles and documents released by both movements.

Abstract:
Although 'The Revival of Islam and Muslims' has not been studied, discussed and researched in the past as a specific subject of Islamic Sciences or as a part of Islamic curricula in seminaries and educational institutions, at present it has become a hot cake for intellectual and academic discourse among Muslim and non-Muslim scholars alike. In this context the present study investigates, examines and critically analyses the ideology of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri regarding Islamic Revivalism. This study examines the areas of Muslim Thought which have been subjected to severe ailments and distortions, during the decline period of the Muslim Ummah, leading them to inactivity and stagnancy. I also attempt to suggest various remedial measures to overcome the prevailing conditions, using the ideology of revivalism by Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri critically compared with other ideologies of Maududi and al-Banna. Furthermore, I will analyse the ideology of Dr Al-Qadri for the reconstruction of the political, economic, juristic, religious and spiritual thought of Islam in the contemporary context. As Qur'anic Philosophy of Revivalism is a new concept in academia, there is vast scope for investigation of this field to discover new horizons in this particular subject ofIslamic sciences bringing forth some new aspects of research regarding the revival of Islam and Muslims. The present study will enhance the knowledge, background, rationale, significance as well as the necessity of the revival of Islam and its religious, spiritual, academic, legal, juristic, economic and political values and also create awareness for the reformation of the prevailing declining and decaying conditions of Muslim societies around the globe. Consequently, this thesis will enable one to realise and appreciate the significance of revivalism in the contemporary context. In the main, my methodology focuses on library research in relation to the works of Dr Al-Qadri as well as other revivalists in contemporary Muslim Thought. Thus, I will rely heavily on the Islamic core sources approach to Tafsir, Hadith scholarship and Islamic law (Fiqh) in terms of textual analysis.
