Abstract:
We discuss approaches to increase the light outcoupling efficiency in organic microcavity (MC) lasers and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). We find that the introduction of metals into the cavities leads to additional Tamm-plasmon polariton modes, while the corrugation of metal contacts, such as perforated μ-size holes or a periodic array of metal stripes, leads to 2D confinement of the cavity modes, which in turn reduces the lasing threshold in MCs. Furthermore, we elucidate light loss mechanisms in OLEDs and reveal how external dielectric layers and periodic gratings can be used to enha

Abstract:
AbstractThe interaction of a Tamm plasmon with an exciton in an organic material in the strong coupling mode is investigated theoretically. The structure consists of five pairs of layers of silicon oxide and tantalum oxide, an organic light-emitting layer of 4,4'-bis( N -carbazolyl)-1,1'-biphenyl, and a silver layer. It is shown that the splitting of polariton modes (Rabi splitting) with a magnitude of >400 meV can occur in such a structure, which can be accompanied by an increase in the luminescence bandwidth up to 700 meV.

Abstract:
Abstract Total internal reflection ellipsometry was employed for the excitation and study of hybrid Tamm plasmon-surface plasmon polaritons mode. Simple optical methodology using optical filters to cut the part of incident light spectra was proposed. Using optical filters measured energy spectra was divided into two parts where in each range only one branch of the hybrid TPP-SPP plasmonic mode was excited directly by the incident light. Present experimental studies have shown, that if the investigated system is in strong coupling, this is always enough to excite only one component of the hybri
