This paper presents simulation of Lake Tana reservoir future water use under emerging scenario with and without climate change impacts. Two different development and climate change scenarios were developed to simulate Lake Tana water level i.e., i) Base line scenario (1991-2000) ,ii) Future development scenario on short term periods(2031-2040) , and ii) Future development scenario on long term periods (2091-2100). River head flow estimated by Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was used as an input to Water Evaluation And Planning (WEAP) model to simulate the Lake level for each scenario. Ba

Malea Minihydro Power Plant in Tana Toraja district is the only one power plant that supplies electricity directly to Malea Hydropower Project. This analysis provides an explanation or description of the circumstances of power plant under study ranging from waterways to the performance of Francis turbine. Aims to find out the efficiency that produced by turbine and factors that influence the turbine efficiency. In this research, the turbines studied were unit 1 and unit 2. Data obtained from measurement results and annual data of Malea Minihydro Power Plant with documentation. The results show

AbstractIn Ethiopia the population is rapidly expanding. As a consequence the landscape is rapidly changing. Eucalyptus plantations are increasing and irrigation projects are implemented. The hydrological effects of the changing landscape on river (low) flows have not been well documented and therefore the amount of water available in the future might be over optimistic. The objective of this paper is to establish how low flows have been impacted by new developments in irrigation and by landscape change. For this paper, we choose the Gilgel Abay in the headwaters of the upper Blue Nile basin,

Abstract:
In these days environmental issues are critical. Environmental concerns mainly rise from energy productions. Fortunately Ethiopia is trying to use renewable energy sources as a means for electrical power production and it is a great start for a long, tiresome green energy journey. The basic job to be done in green energy sectors is to maximize the capacity of renewable technologies to fulfil the best efficiency.  Intermittent nature of the energy production and their inefficiency to meet peak load demands are the basic problems in renewable energy sectors.   Ethiopia’s electrical power product
