Abstract:
The present article reports on a research designed to examine the effect of teachers in-service training programmes on their attitude and performance. The study was conducted on 100 teacher’s trainees in 6th Education district of Tehran. An attitude questionnaire was used once at the beginning and once at the end of the training course to check the participants’ attitude change. The teacher's performance was then observed using an observation checklist. A stimulated recall interview was conducted to check the reasons for the discrepancies between the programme guidelines and the teacher's performance. The results of the attitude questionnaire showed that the teacher's attitude had changed significantly in one area of the three areas under investigation. The analysis of the data collected through the observation checklist and the stimulated recall interview showed that the teacher's trainees performance was not acceptable in the area their attitude had undergone a change. The article concludes by suggesting that attitude change does not necessarily lead to a change in teachers performance.

Abstract:
Regardless of the integration of technology into English learning at school brings an abundance of advantages, there are still very few teachers who have been implementing technology. iPad as a learning medium in English language learning has been widely applied in many countries. However, the use of iPad for English language learning in Banda Aceh is still considered uncommon. Descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach was carried to find out an English teacher’s attitude towards the integration of iPad in English teaching-learning class in Al-Azhar Cairo Islamic Junior High School in Banda Aceh. An observation sheet and guided interview were used to gather the data. The data analysis was processed in the form of condensation data, display data, and conclusion data which are proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014). The findings show that the English teacher delivered 91 utterances consisted of 34 affective attitudes, 28 conative attitudes, 16 evaluative attitudes, and 13 cognitive attitudes. The highest frequency attitude showed by the teacher is the affective attitude meanwhile the lowest is the cognitive attitude.

Abstract:
The paper presents the results of a study on the attitude of preschool educational institutions' employees to changes in modern Russian preschool education. The study involved 658 employees of kindergartens from 74 Russian regions. The results show that the majority of the respondents are satisfed with the way the Federal State Educational Standard of preschool education (FSES PE) is implemented. At the same time, in comparison with other regions, teachers from Moscow show statistically higher levels of satisfaction (p <0.01, χ² criterion); younger teachers (under 30 years) and more mature teachers (over 50 years) (p <0.01, χ² criterion) compared with middle aged teachers. The overwhelming majority (83.4%) of respondents indicated signifcant changes in kindergarten: the greatest of them are associated with changes in parent's attitude to kindergarten (85.6% of respondents), in educational technologies (75.7% of respondents), and in the organization of educational environment (70.3% of respondents). Moreover, the respondents from Moscow signifcantly more often (p <0.05, χ² criterion) talk about changes in parent's attitude to kindergarten and in teacher's relationship with children. There has been also found the connection with the work experience in kindergartens - the longer the respondents work in kindergarten, the more often they say that both the parent's attitude and the teacher's relationship with children have changed (p <0.05, χ²criterion). The article also presents data on the areas of changes in educational programs that are considered to be signifcant to respondents. The possible reasons for various attitudes of different groups of teachers to changes and the possible consequences in terms of a more informed acceptance and implementation of the FSES PE are discussed.

Abstract:
Curricula in concentrated educational systems are prepared from an upper-stream reference and hand over teachers’ disposal. Curricula in Iran are compiled in the so-called math curriculum development office and then put at the disposal of teachers. The researches in this regard show that such plans provide some resistance against executing it which are named teacher - proof programs, even it changed to some extent for accept ion, its execution is suspeciable. This research first explains how math books of middle grade were changed as a result of investigations on TIMSS result in year 1995. These investigation show Iranian Books are weakness in problem solving methods as Polya had said. And so curricula developers in Iran tried to integrate Polya\\\'s method in math books and changed curricula based these frame work. Then, it shows how teachers treated these changes. The finding of analyzing the data has been collected in this research through observations and interviews. It is intended that teachers resist against these changes. Finally according to this research, we suggest a model which we refer if it is used through concentrated educational system, we could expect teachers tolerance against the changes would be decreased and so compiled curricula further matched to executed curricula.

Brown, Diane Peacock. "Occupational Therapy Academic Program Faculty Attitudes Toward Tenure as Measured by the Tenure Attitude Scale." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2002. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc3265/.

Full text
Abstract:
This study explored attitudes of occupational therapy faculty toward tenure and selected alternatives to tenure. A survey method was employed, and the Tenure Attitude Survey Instrument, (TASI), was created for use in the study. Additionally, a questionnaire sought information regarding respondents' rank, tenure and administrative status, institutional type, and years in academia. Participants were accredited occupational therapy professional program faculty who identified their primary work setting as "Academic" on the 2000-2001 American Occupational Therapy Association membership survey. Factor analysis of 577 surveys examined the structure of scores on the TASI, and the instrument consisted of 4 scales, and 18 items, as follows: Scale One: Attitude toward academic freedom and job security protection, 7 items; Scale Two: Attitude toward tenure in general, 6 items; Scale Three: Attitude toward stop-the-tenure clock provisions, 2 items; and Scale Four: Attitude toward post-tenure review, 3 items. Cronbach's alpha was conducted, as follows: TASI overall alpha = .7915; Scale 1 alpha = .7884; Scale 2 alpha = .8420; Scale 3 alpha = .7020; Scale 4 alpha = .4229. Proportional analysis showed that most respondents were full time faculty (88.1%); taught full time at public institutions (52.8%); were tenured or tenure-track (55.5%); had no administrative duties (70.5%); with a rank of instructor or lecturer (17.5%), or assistant professor (45.7%). Time in academia ranged from 1-40 years, with a mean of 11.27 years, median of 9.25 years, and mode of 4 years. Attitudes toward, and support for, the continuation of tenure and for selected proposed alternatives to tenure were analyzed according to the following: faculty rank, administrative status, and tenure status. Respondents held generally favorable attitudes toward tenure as measured by Scales 1 and 2 of the TASI, and the best predictors of faculty attitude toward tenure were tenure status and rank. Due to low reliability scores on Scales 3 and 4, no conclusions can be drawn regarding respondents' attitudes toward alternatives to tenure.

Abstract:
The wide range of questions that this topic raises lead us to think about the training of teachers, their continuous work and improvement. Following this paragraph, we conclude that a textbook/manual, which would deal with the relationship between the Internet and teaching, or the continuous organization of seminars and trainings, is a necessity for literature teachers. In addition to the teacher's knowledge of the coexistence of literature and new media, it is necessary to pay special attention to the critical attitude of students towards Internet content and to point out the purposeful use of newspapers in the teaching process. The role of teachers in modern timesis not favorable because things related to their profession are rapidly developing: new genres appear, tendencies in study and creation change, communication media are continuously changing, and on the other hand teaching it self must undergo changes and transformations. Nevertheless, proven methodological principles always exist, at least as the essence of teaching, regardless of which teaching aids were used and in what way in class. The Internet content and the opportunities it provides have proven to be stimulating and close to the students, so the teacher can use them, with the awareness that the teaching aid must not overshadow the content that is being processed.

Abstract:
The goal of the study that was conducted in the High School of Economics and Trade in Zaječar was to establish whether and to what extent teacher training courses on work in a digital environment contribute to a change in a teacher’s attitude to the digitalization of education. Two online surveys (the Google questionnaire) were conducted, with 68 teachers participating. The first survey was conducted at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and the second one 6 months later. The study began with the hypothesis that a rather strong resistance to digitalization exhibited in the first survey would, after a series of training courses, grow weaker in intensity as more and more advantages are listed. The results of both surveys showed an equally negative attitude to digitalization, with the reasons of resistance being different – in the first survey, they include inexperience in work with digital tools, and in the second one they include the impossibility of making an objective evaluation of students’ achievements and increased workload. The conclusion is that in the digital model of education teachers recognize inherent weaknesses, for which reason it is viewed solely as an addition to the traditional form of teaching.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract: the proposed business didactic game is aimed at developing the creative attitude of the teacher to his own professional activity. The motivational material of a business didactic game allows the teacher to understand that his activity has sometimes elusive pedagogical algorithms and strategies, the totality of which can be called such a concept as an individual methodological style of activity. In addition to pedagogical strategies, this concept reflects the unique psychological qualities of the individual, which allow the teacher to influence the quality of the acquired knowledge. It is also emphasized that the concept of an individual style of activity is the result of the teacher's internal hard work, the result of a long search, value. On this basis, the individual style of activity rejects the concept of "charisma", since it is self-sufficient and does not need to be theatrically announced to any audience. All the value bases of an individual methodological style of activity are aimed not at narcissism, but at helping students in mastering the internal content of a particular academic subject. The leading sign of the formation of an individual methodological style of activity is the ability to correctly combine one's original author's position on the content principles of the taught subject with the guiding and prescriptive lines of the work program. The author's position of the teacher, which combines the emotional and rational components, is also reflected in external behavioral mechanisms. At the same time, expressive forms of behavior are not a mandatory feature of the individual style of methodological activity. A special style of preparing educational material, a list of methods and forms of teaching is structured on the basis of a situational understanding of the subtle mechanisms of teaching, educating and developing schoolchildren

Abstract:
This is the second of two reports that look at the results of TIMSS 2019 and Australia’s performance. Volume I focuses specifically on the achievement results, detailing Australia’s results within the international context, and presents results for the Australian jurisdictions, and for the different demographic groups within Australia, including male and female students. This report, Volume II, presents the results from the contextual questionnaires, and examines the contexts in which learning and achievement occur, including home, school, and classroom contexts, as well as student attitudes. Each chapter focuses on different indicators that cover the school community, the school learning environment, mathematics and science teacher characteristics, mathematics and science classroom learning environments, and students’ attitudes and beliefs. Together, the different indicators of student and school life illustrate some of the many key aspects that make up the school experience.

Abstract:
The Government of Kenya is committed to providing equal education opportunities to all of its citizens. As a result, there has been rapid development in education since independence to ensure that as many children as possible enroll in schools and complete their studies. This study was carried out primarily to get a holistic picture of the school environment for adolescents and other relevant factors that might interfere with the whole learning/teaching process. Special attention was paid to the education of girls and the factors that might lead to their dropping out of school. The study was conducted jointly by the Ministry of Education and the Population Council in three districts in Kenya. Many aspects of school education were covered including physical facilities, financing of education, curriculum, teacher-pupil relationships, and teachers’ attitudes. This report provides a balanced view of school education provided in the three districts that are representative of the situation elsewhere in the Republic of Kenya.

Reducing HIV infection among youth: What can schools do? Key baseline findings from Mexico, South Africa, and Thailand. Population Council, 2001. http://dx.doi.org/10.31899/hiv2001.1004.

Full text
Abstract:
Although many program planners see schools as a convenient location for HIV-prevention programs, there is controversy about whether school programs can ever be strong enough to go beyond improving knowledge and attitudes to increasing the adoption of safe sexual behaviors. Evaluations of school programs in Mexico, South Africa, and Thailand focus on this question: Can school HIV programs change behavior? In each country, local organizations have worked with educators on teacher training and course design to ensure high-quality school interventions. Researchers surveyed students’ knowledge, attitudes, norms, and reported behavior before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and again several months later to measure retention of program effects. In all three sites comparable control groups are compared to the intervention group. The mean age and age ranges for the three study groups are: 16 years and 13–23 for the Mexican study group; 15 years and 8 months and ages 12–21 for the South African study group; and 20 years and ages 17–31 for the Thai study group. This report is a summary of key baseline findings from these studies.

Programming for HIV prevention in Mexican schools. Population Council, 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.31899/hiv2003.1003.

Full text
Abstract:
As national education programs incorporate HIV prevention into school curriculums, policymakers and educators need to know what they can expect from these initiatives. Can such courses influence the behavior of students and improve their knowledge and attitudes? If not, what can these courses reasonably be expected to accomplish, and what part can they play in overall HIV programming for youth? To help answer these questions, the Mexican Institute of Family and Population Research (IMIFAP), the Mexican Ministry of Public Education (SEP), and the Horizons Program examined the effects of a school-based HIV-prevention program on Mexican secondary-school students. All public schools in Mexico must implement sexuality education and teacher-training programs, although the content is left to each state’s discretion. Students must pass this class just as they would other courses in the curriculum. With approval from SEP, a leading Mexican NGO (IMIFAP) experienced in designing sex education courses developed the curriculum and the teacher-training program used in this study. The 30-session student curriculum, described in this brief, focuses on a broad range of topics that aim to equip students with information and skills to prevent HIV infection.
