Abstract:
Purpose: To analyze the technical and tactical training load in professional volleyball players, using subjective internal training load (session rating of perceived exertion [SRPE]) and objective internal training load (training impulse of the heart rate [HR]) and the relationship between them. Methods: The sample was composed of 15 male professional volleyball players. They were monitored during 37 training sessions that included both technical (n = 23) and tactical (n = 14) training. Technical and training load was calculated using SRPE and training impulse of the HR. Results: Significant correlations were found between the methods in tactical (r = .616) and technical training (r = −.414). Furthermore, it was noted that technical training occurs up to 80% of HRmax (zone 3) and tactical training between 70% and 90% of HRmax (zones 3–4). Conclusions: The training impulse of the HR method has proved to be effective for training-load control during tactical training. However, it was limited compared with technical training. Thus, the use of SRPE is presented as a more reliable method in the different types of technical training in volleyball.

Abstract:
The article explores individual technical and tactical actions in the training system for junior martial artists, which are the main components of an athlete’s arsenal. It is proved that one of the most effective methods of increasing the reaction rate is to increase the information capacity of the signals and the emphasis in them of the so-called preparatory signals The modern theory and methodology of technical and tactical training of young athletes does not take into account changes that have occurred in the content and conditions of competitive activity. Therefore, the technical and tactical teachings of young athletes in their development somewhat deviate from the selected differences in the test order, but do not quite meet the requirements of competitive work and the general theoretical concept of using tools and methods in technical and tactical training is not sufficiently developed. It is worth noting that in situational sports, indicators change in accordance with the conditions, so an individual style is created. In martial arts, battle tactics are important as a qualitative characteristic of an athlete’s individual style. Training of wrestlers should be based on the manner of conducting a fight, that is, depending on the tendency to pace, power conducting a fight or a technical and tactical justification. It often happens that a trainer imposes a training program that does not correspond to his individual properties.

Abstract:
In sport, the technical-tactical component is part of the training process of athletes and has a different degree of involvement, depending on the sports branch in question. Ice hockey is a game in which technical-tactical training strategies are decisive in achieving the proposed performance goal. The effectiveness of the implementation of technical-tactical strategies depends mainly on the level of physical training of the team, as this ensures the necessary energy support for the use of tactical elements with higher efficiency indices.During the study conducted by us, we intend to highlight, for the Romanian national ice hockey team - senior level, the incidence of the technical-tactical strategies that we have designed in achieving the performance objective already set - advancing in a superior Group within the World Ice Hockey Championship. The research methods we used were the following: analysis of the literature of specialty, the observation method, the pedagogical experiment method and the statistical method. The independent variable that we have used consists in the implementation of technical-tactical strategies to Romania's national ice hockey team. The results of the research showed the weight of training components during a competitive year. In the pedagogical experiment that we have conducted, the technical-tactical training has an important place in the training process, the individual and collective technical-tactical training weighing the most. After the final evaluation the technical-tactical training strategies were proven effective and led, along with other components of the training, to the achievement of the targeted objective.

Abstract:
Context The ability to demonstrate sound clinical reasoning is needed for a practicing athletic trainer. However, instruction on how to make a correct clinical decision may be deficient in many athletic training programs. Objective To provide an overview of how to teach technical and tactical skills, using both a tradition and a nontraditional approach, and to apply this teaching method to athletic training education. Background The teaching of technical skills involves four steps: (1) introduction, (2) demonstration and explanation, (3) practice, and (4) error correction. The teaching of tactical skills takes technical skills a step further by putting them into action. To teach a tactical skill, coaches (1) identify the decision to be made, (2) determine knowledge needed to make a good decision, (3) identify cues that should or should not be attended to, and help to ensure the cues are interpreted correctly, (4) determine appropriate tactical options, and (5) design an opportunity to practice reading the situation and choosing appropriate tactics. Applying this approach to athletic training, students may be better prepared to make good decisions when placed in a situation to do so. Description This paper discusses how applying a methodology for teaching technical and tactical skills will help athletic training students to become better at clinical decision making. It also provides an application example that can be adapted to other situations aiding in the implementation of this approach. Clinical Advantage(s) This approach can be applied to numerous situations and scenarios, preparing athletic training students to be better clinicians through proper clinical reasoning and decision making. Conclusion(s) The ability to reason clinically is a foundational skill that needs to be taught in athletic training programs. Teaching technical and tactical skills is a viable method to help athletic training students develop this skill.

Abstract:
Background: Technical-tactical training has been shown to be relevant to performance in a competition. In this regard, several studies have analysed the efficiency of technical-tactical dynamics in combat sports. However, these researchers have mainly focused on technical efficiency, and therefore more research is needed regarding tactical efficiency. Furthermore, to the best of our knowledge, there are no published experiential studies on Ultimate Full Contact. Objective: This brief review will analyse the theoretical basis of technical-tactical behaviour for training application in Ultimate Full Contact, characterising the modality under cognitive and dynamic-ecological approaches. This knowledge can be transferred and applied to similar modalities, such as Pankration, Free Fight, Shooto, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Conclusion: The theoretical technical-tactical knowledge created through competition is essential because it is the only way that improvement in the training process can occur. Ultimate Full Contact is characterised as a combat sport of special complexity and intermitent intensity, where the technical-tactical factors are decisive for the performance while the physical component can be a conditioning factor. A careful regulation between technical-tactical training load and physiological load is essential to obtain adjustable adaptations. Both cognitive and dynamic-ecological approaches should be considered based on the respective training models.

Abstract:
GE and the USN continue to work together to find and develop practical techniques to reduce jet noise on tactical aircraft such as the F/A-18 E/F/G. Noise is an important issue for the Navy because of the harsh acoustic environment induced during operations of these aircraft on aircraft carriers and the impact to communities around Naval Air Bases and training sites. The noise generated by these systems is predominantly the noise generated by the exhaust plume due to the low bypass ratio of the engine and very high exhaust jet velocities. The main components of this jet noise are the jet mixing, shock and crackle noise. The present paper reports on progress, following Reference [1] with the F/A-18 E/F/G jet noise reduction program, which is currently focused on the USN near term goal of up to 3 dB reduction in the peak directivity direction. This goal also includes the reduction of the shock and crackle noise components. These goals are currently being pursued with nozzle plume mixing enhancement employing mechanical chevrons. These chevrons can be incorporated in the production version as a redesign of the F414 nozzle seals and do not involve the introduction of additional parts to the nozzle. This paper focuses on the effect of chevrons on the crackle noise component both in full scale on the F404 engine, and in small scale on the F414 engine nozzle in the twin configuration. The paper aims to make the case that this effect, which was first observed during ground engine testing of prototype chevrons, is a beneficial one in reducing/eliminating crackle which continues to be prevalent in high performance tactical aircraft engines today.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper draws overarching conclusions based on a synthesis of previously published case studies that examined the impact of EU military training missions (EUTMs) in Somalia (EUTM Somalia, 2010–), Mali (EUTM Mali, 2013–), the Central African Republic (CAR) (EUTM RCA, 2016–). It concludes that EUTMs are relevant niche operations. Despite difficult circumstances beyond the control of the missions, EUTM training and advisory efforts have increased the effectiveness of partner armed forces. While these gains have been marginal in CAR and Somalia, they have been a bit more pronounced in Mali. Yet, broader security sector reform and defence sector reform efforts to improve the accountability and governance of defence and security sectors have become bogged down. The main challenge is that EUTMs are generally mandated to implement largely technical and tactical agendas in contexts where the ongoing armed conflict and the politics of the security sector are not conducive to building professional national security forces. As a consequence EUTMs find themselves caught up in interlinked and partially overlapping dilemmas. This study concludes with seven partly overlapping recommendations to EU member states and to EUTMs to address the main limitations that are restricting the impact of the missions.

Abstract:
Under the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighter Grant Fire Prevention and Safety Research Program, Underwriters Laboratories examined fire service concerns of photovoltaic (PV) systems. These concerns include firefighter vulnerability to electrical and casualty hazards when mitigating a fire involving photovoltaic (PV) modules systems. The need for this project is significant acknowledging the increasing use of photovoltaic systems, growing at a rate of 30% annually. As a result of greater utilization, traditional firefighter tactics for suppression, ventilation and overhaul have been complicated, leaving firefighters vulnerable to potentially unrecognized exposure. Though the electrical and fire hazards associated with electrical generation and distribution systems is well known, PV systems present unique safety considerations. A very limited body of knowledge and insufficient data exists to understand the risks to the extent that the fire service has been unable to develop safety solutions and respond in a safe manner. This fire research project developed the empirical data that is needed to quantify the hazards associated with PV installations. This data provides the foundation to modify current or develop new firefighting practices to reduce firefighter death and injury. A functioning PV array was constructed at Underwriters Laboratories in Northbrook, IL to serve as a test fixture. The main test array consisted of 26 PV framed modules rated 230 W each (5980 W total rated power). Multiple experiments were conducted to investigate the efficacy of power isolation techniques and the potential hazard from contact of typical firefighter tools with live electrical PV components. Existing fire test fixtures located at the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center were modified to construct full scale representations of roof mounted PV systems. PV arrays were mounted above Class A roofs supported by wood trusses. Two series of experiments were conducted. The first series represented a room of content fire, extending into the attic space, breaching the roof and resulting in structural collapse. Three PV technologies were subjected to this fire condition – rack mounted metal framed, glass on polymer modules, building integrated PV shingles, and a flexible laminate attached to a standing metal seam roof. A second series of experiments was conducted on the metal frame technology. These experiments represented two fire scenarios, a room of content fire venting from a window and the ignition of debris accumulation under the array. The results of these experiments provide a technical basis for the fire service to examine their equipment, tactics, standard operating procedures and training content. Several tactical considerations were developed utilizing the data from the experiments to provide specific examples of potential electrical shock hazard from PV installations during and after a fire event.
