Abstract:
В сучасних умовах високої ігрової активності такий вид спорту, як футбол при підготовці юних спортсменів на етапі попередньої базової підготовки потребує максимальної реалізації їх техніко-тактичних можливостей, що вимагає в свою чергу не лише підвищення швидкості виконання техніко-тактичних прийомів, але і їх рухової активності. Підтверджено наявність не вирішених проблем щодо підготовки футболістів, а особливо використання вправ швидкісно-силового характеру при побудові тренувального процесу футболістів. В роботі визначено особливості техніко-тактичної підготовки юних футболістів засобами швидкісно-силового характеру на попередньо базовому етапі спортивної підготовки.. Обґрунтовано та практично перевірено ефективність комплексу вправ швидкісно-силового характеру та впроваджено його в основну частину тренувальних занять футболістів на етапі попередньої базової підготовки.
In modern conditions of high game activity such sport as football at preparation of young sportsmen at a stage of preliminary basic preparation demands the maximum realization of their technical and tactical possibilities that demands not only increase of speed of performance of technical and tactical receptions, but also their motor activity. . The existence of unresolved issues regarding the training of football players, and especially the use of speed and strength exercises in the construction of the training process of football players has been confirmed. The peculiarities of technical and tactical training of young football players by means of speed and strength character at the preliminary basic stage of sports training are determined in the work.

Resumo: A utilização de jogos reduzidos conceituais (JRC) pode ser uma metodologia de treino interessante para treinar as diferentes componentes do desempenho de futebolistas, respeitando a complexidade inerente ao jogo de futebol. Nosso objetivo no presente estudo, foi investigar por videogrametria, a possibilidade induzir estímulos específicos diferentes por meio da execução de dois jogos reduzidos conceituais com princípios táticos operacionais diferentes (1 - manutenção da posse de bola e 2 - progressão ao alvo). Participaram do estudo 24 atletas separados em duas equipes, que se enfrentaram no jogo 1 e no jogo 2. Ambos os jogos tiveram duração de 30 min e as equipes foram formadas por 6 jogadores mais o goleiro. Os dados comprovaram que os princípios organizadores dos JRC criam situações distintas com graus de dificuldade diferentes. Bem como provocam estímulos fisiológicos distintos. Ou seja, é possível sistematizar o treinamento dos componentes técnicos e táticos de forma controlada e inserida no contexto do jogo de forma a provocar adaptações fisiológicas predeterminadas. Nossos dados credenciam os JRC para o aprendizado de situações técnico táticas que, aliadas ao condicionamento físico adequado podem contribuir para produzir um jogador treinado para aproximar cada vez mais pensamentos e ações em situações diversificadas
Abstract: The use of conceptual small-sided games (CSSG) may be an interesting training methodology to train soccer different components of the performance of footballers respecting the complexity inherent in the game. Unpredictability inherent in the game of soccer and develop the soccer necessary physical abilities. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility videogrammetry by specific stimuli induce different by running two games with reduced conceptual tactical principles different operating (1 - maintaining possession and 2 - progression to the target). The study included 24 athletes divided into two teams that faced off in Game 1 and Game 2. Both games lasted 30 min and the teams were comprised of 6 players goalkeeper. The data showed that the organizing principles of the JRC create different situations with different levels of difficulty. As well as cause physiological stimuli distinct. Ie, it is possible to systematize the training of technical and tactical components in a controlled manner and within the context of the game in order to cause physiological adaptations predetermined. Our data accredit JRC for learning situations technical tactics, coupled with the adequate physical conditioning can contribute to producing a player trained to approach increasingly thoughts and actions in different situations

Abstract:
Науково обґрунтовано методику спеціальної техніко-тактичної підготовки студентів-волейболістів, що дозволило підвищити показники індивідуальних тактичних дій під час прийому м’яча з подачі в стрибку. Доповнено та розширено дані щодо, провідних чинників, що визначають ефективність індивідуальних тактичних дій під час прийому м’яча з подачі в стрибку, що є основою для організації цілеспрямованої тактичної підготовки кваліфікованих волейболістів. Практична значення результатів дослідження полягає в розробці методики вдосконалення індивідуальних техніко-тактичних дій студентів-волейболістів, що дозволяє підвищити якісні характеристики виконання прийому м’яча після виконання подачі в стрибку суперником з урахуванням різних ігрових ситуацій. Визначені параметри можуть бути використані для планування тренувальних навантажень кваліфікованих волейболістів, корекції фізичної підготовки та вдосконалення рухових якостей. Отримані показники можуть бути використані тренерами ДЮСШ під час роботи з юними спортсменами, які займаються волейболом.
Научно обоснована методика специальной технико-тактической подготовки студентов-волейболистов, что позволило повысить показатели индивидуальных тактических действий при приеме мяча с подачи в прыжке. Дополнены и расширены данные относительно ведущих факторов, определяющих эффективность индивидуальных тактических действий во время приема мяча с подачи в прыжке, что является основой для организации целенаправленной тактической подготовки квалифицированных волейболистов. Практическое значение результатов исследования заключается в разработке методики усовершенствования индивидуальных технико-тактических действий студентов-волейболистов, позволяющей повысить качественные характеристики выполнения приема мяча после выполнения подачи в прыжке соперником с учетом различных игровых ситуаций. Определенные параметры могут использоваться для планирования тренировочных нагрузок квалифицированных волейболистов, коррекции физической подготовки и совершенствования двигательных качеств. Полученные показатели могут быть использованы тренерами ДЮСШ при работе с юными спортсменами, занимающимися волейболом.
The method of special technical and tactical training of volleyball students is scientifically substantiated, which allowed to increase the indicators of individual tactical actions while receiving the ball from the jump. The data on the leading factors that determine the effectiveness of individual tactical actions when receiving the ball from the jump, which is the basis for the organization of targeted tactical training of qualified volleyball players, has been supplemented and expanded. The practical significance of the research results is to develop a method of improving the individual technical and tactical actions of volleyball students, which allows to improve the quality characteristics of the ball after the jump in the opponent's opponent, taking into account different game situations. The defined parameters can be used to plan the training loads of qualified volleyball players, correct physical training and improve motor skills. The obtained indicators can be used by CYSS coaches when working with young athletes who play volleyball.

The paper deals with the problems of training skilled handball players at different stages of the annual cycle and systematizes the individual technique of competitive activity of players of different roles, containing the means of effective execution of tactical combinations in the game, interaction of players during the attack and defense, individual technique. Research materials and formulated conclusions can be used to improve the qualification of coaches, teachers of the SNSU, teachers of physical education of higher education institutions, specialists in the field of physical culture and sports.

Обґрунтувано та експериментально перевірено розроблену методику вдосконалення техніко-тактичної підготовки кваліфікованих баскетболістів з використанням комп’ютерних програм, психодіагностичного комплексу «НС-Психотест», відеоаналізу, тренажерного обладнання, що спрямовані для засвоєння техніко-тактичної підготовки, як у нападі так і захисту. Набули подальшого розвитку уявлення щодо контролю спортивної діяльності, а також тестів, показників і критеріїв оцінки підготовленості баскетболістів. Практичне значення одержаних результатів полягає в тому що, методику вдосконалення техніко-тактичної підготовки засобами сучасних технологій впроваджено в тренувальний процес річного циклу підготовки команди майстрів БК «Маріуполь». Застосування експериментальної методики значно підвищує ефективність тренувального процесу, своєчасно дозволяє вносити зміни у програму техніко-тактичної підготовки кваліфікованих баскетболістів. Результати досліджень можуть використовуватися в дитячо-юнацьких спортивних школах, школах вищої спортивної майстерності та олімпійського резерву.
Обоснованна и экспериментально проверена разработанная методика усовершенствования технико-тактической подготовки квалифицированных баскетболистов с использованием компьютерных программ, психодиагностического комплекса «НС-психотест», видеоанализа, тренажерного оборудования, которые направленные на усвоение технико-тактической подготовки, как в нападении так и защите. Приобрели дальнейшее развитие представления о контроле спортивной деятельности, а также тестов, показателей и критериев оценки подготовленности баскетболистов. Практическое значение полученных результатов заключается в том, что методика совершенствования технико-тактической подготовки средствами современных технологий внедрена в тренировочный процесс годового цикла подготовки команды мастеров БК «Мариуполь». Применение экспериментальной методики значительно повышает эффективность тренировочного процесса, своевременно позволяет вносить изменения в программу технико-тактической подготовки квалифицированных баскетболистов. Результаты исследований могут использоваться в детско-юношеских спортивных школах, школах высшего спортивного мастерства и олимпийского резерва.
The developed method of improving the technical and tactical training of qualified basketball players with the use of computer programs, psychodiagnostic complex is substantiated and experimentally tested «NS-Psychotest», video analysis, training equipment aimed at mastering technical and tactical training, both in attack and defense. The ideas on the control of sports activities, as well as tests, indicators and criteria for assessing the readiness of basketball players have been further developed. The practical significance of the obtained results is that the method of improving technical and tactical training by means of modern technologies is introduced into the training process of the annual cycle of training of the team of masters of BC «Mariupol». Application of experimental methods significantly increases the effectiveness of the training process, allows you to make timely changes to the program of technical and tactical training of qualified basketball players. The research results can be used in children's and youth sports schools, schools of higher sportsmanship and the Olympic reserve.

Визначено вплив тренувальних занять юних футболістів різних ігрових амплуа на основі вдосконалення фізичної підготовки з використанням рухливих ігор та естафет, що створюють і моделюють умови, близькі до змагальної діяльності. Підтверджено дані щодо необхідності врахування сенситивних періодів становлення організму юних спортсменів під час розвитку рухових якостей та засвоєння різних елементів техніки футболу. Практичне значення одержаних результатів полягає у можливості використання рухливих ігор та естафет юними футболістами різного ігрового амплуа, що передбачає становлення технічних навичок для подальшого підвищення рухової діяльності та фізичної підготовки під час гри. Результати дослідження можуть бути використані тренерами ДЮСШ під час роботи з юними спортсменами, які займаються футболом.
Определено влияние тренировочных занятий юных футболистов разных игровых амплуа на основе усовершенствования физической подготовки с использованием подвижных игр и эстафет, создающих и моделирующих условия, близкие к соревновательной деятельности. Подтверждены данные о необходимости учета сенситивных периодов становления организма юных спортсменов при развитии двигательных качеств и усвоении различных элементов техники футбола. Практическое значение полученных результатов заключается в возможности использования подвижных игр и эстафет юными футболистами разного игрового амплуа, что предполагает становление технических навыков для дальнейшего повышения двигательной деятельности и физической подготовки во время игры. Результаты исследования могут быть использованы тренерами ДЮСШ при работе с юными спортсменами, занимающимися футболом.
The influence of training sessions of young football players of different game roles on the basis of improvement of physical training with the use of mobile games and relays, which create and model conditions close to competitive activities. The data on the need to take into account the sensitive periods of formation of the body of young athletes during the development of motor skills and mastering various elements of football technique are confirmed. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the possibility of using mobile games and relays by young football players of different game roles, which involves the development of technical skills to further improve motor activity and physical training during the game. The results of the study can be used by CYSS coaches when working with young athletes who play football.

З’ясовано ефективність впливу техніко-тактичної підготовки каратистів 14–15 років на етапі спеціалізованої підготовки базової підготовки через вдосконалення тренувального процесу, що полягає в його раціональному річному плануванні, використання спеціальних технічних, тактичних прийомів і програм, формуванні психічних якостей, покращення фізичної підготовки та антропометричних показників. Набули подальшого розвитку особливості підготовки тренерського колективу для роботи зі спортсменами на етапі спеціалізованої базової підготовки. Практичне значення полягає в застосуванні комплексного підходу до техніко-тактичної підготовки у навчально-тренувальному процесі юних каратистів 14–15 років, а саме: проведення спеціалізованих занять з технічних прийомів і програм, забезпечення психічних якостей, що інтегровані в систему тренувальних занять спортсменів-каратистів, покращення підготовки фахівців із карате, які тренують і виховують юних спортсменів, орієнтацією не лише на фізичний розвиток, а й також на вдосконалення рухових якостей (силових, швидкісних, координаційних) для досягнення оптимального спортивного результату. Отримані результати дослідження можуть використані тренерами у навчально-тренувальному процесі в якості методичного матеріалу.
Выяснена эффективность влияния технико-тактической подготовки каратистов 14–15 лет на этапе специализированной подготовки базовой подготовки через усовершенствование тренировочного процесса, заключающегося в его рациональном годовом планировании, использовании специальных технических, тактических приемов и программ, формировании психлогических качеств, улучшении физической подготовки. антропометрических характеристик. Приобрели дальнейшее развитие особенности подготовки тренерского коллектива для работы со спортсменами на этапе специализированной базовой подготовки. Практическое значение заключается в применении комплексного подхода к технико-тактической подготовке в учебно-тренировочном процессе юных каратистов 14–15 лет, а именно: проведение специализированных занятий по техническим приемам и программам, обеспечение психических качеств, интегрированных в систему тренировочных занятий спортсменов-каратистов, улучшение подготовки специалистов по каратэ, которые тренируют и воспитывают юных спортсменов, ориентацией не только на физическое развитие, но и на усовершенствование двигательных качеств (силовых, скоростных, координационных) для достижения оптимального спортивного результата. Полученные результаты исследования могут быть использованы тренерами в учебно-тренировочном процессе в качестве методического материала.
The effectiveness of the impact of technical and tactical training of karate 14–15 years at the stage of specialized training of basic training through the improvement of the training process, which consists in its rational annual planning, use of special technical, tactical techniques and programs, formation of mental qualities, improvement of physical training and anthropometric indicators. The peculiarities of training the coaching staff to work with athletes at the stage of specialized basic training have been further developed. The practical significance lies in the application of a comprehensive approach to technical and tactical training in the educational and training process of young karate 14-15 years, namely: conducting specialized classes on techniques and programs, providing mental qualities integrated into the training system of karate athletes, improving the training of karate specialists who train and educate young athletes, focusing not only on physical development, but also on improving motor skills (strength, speed, coordination) to achieve optimal sports results. The results of the study can be used by trainers in the training process as a methodological material.

Abstract:
Популярность футбола приводит к тому, что этой игрой начинают заниматься дети с 3-5 лет. Но, если с малышами, в основном, занимаются общей физической подготовкой, то с 8-10 лет уже серьезно подходят к техникотактической подготовке. По мнению А. А. Шамардина, именно технико-тактическая подготовленность футболиста решающим фактором результативности [2]. Это обуславливается высокой интенсивностью игры, требующей от игрока отличной физической и технической подготовленности. При этом, каждому тренеру важно помнить, что не прочно усвоенные технические элементы игры на этапе начального обучения отрицательно скажутся на дальнейшей технической подготовке футболиста. Цель исследования. Экспериментально доказать эффективность методики обучения техническим элементам футболистов 8–10 лет, используя специальные комплексы упражнений. Изложение материала исследования. В данном возрасте тренеры должны добиваться не столько силы удара, сколько четкого выполнения технического элемента, не допуская небрежности, которая, впоследствии, может привести к небрежности в игре. Для повышения эффективности тренировочных занятий, необходимо учитывать возрастные особенности физического развития опорно-двигательного аппарата, центральной нервной системы (ЦНС), морфологические и функциональные изменения мышечной системы [1]

Abstract:
Показано, що технічна підготовка футболістів 15–16 років містить у собі навчання, закріплення та удосконалення рухових дій, прийомів та елементів футболу. Етап тактичної підготовки юних гравців спрямований на вивчення власних тактичних дій. Пріоритетними виступають вправи з тактики, ігрові вправи і двостороння гра. Обґрунтовано програму тренувальних занять на етапі спеціалізованої базової підготовки футболістів 15–16 років за мету мала удосконалити запланований рівень спортивних результатів. Відповідно для реалізації мети на даному етапі підготовки юних гравців командного виду спорту виділяють наступні завдання: вдосконалити спеціальну фізичну підготовленість; сформувати навички техніки гри у футбол; зміцнити психологічну підготовленість; набути досвід у змагальній діяльності. Організація процесу спортивної підготовки футболістів передбачала створення належних умов для проведення занять і вирішення завдання тренування: матеріально-технічне забезпечення; місце занять; метероологічні умови; безпека занять і попередження травматизму. Модель тренувального заняття включала: спрямованість заняття (технічна підготовка, навчання, розвиток фізичних якостей); метод тренування; тривалість заняття; швидкість, темп виконання вправ та інтенсивність; інтервал відпочинку; порядок виконання вправ; характер відпочинку в інтервалах; кількість повторень.
It is shown that the technical training of football players aged 15–16 includes training, consolidation and improvement of motor actions, techniques and elements of football. The stage of tactical training of young players is aimed at studying their own tactical actions. Priority is given to tactical exercises, game exercises and two-way play. The program of training sessions at the stage of specialized basic training of football players aged 15–16 was substantiated in order to improve the planned level of sports results. Accordingly, to achieve the goal at this stage of training young players in team sports, the following tasks are identified: to improve special physical fitness; to form skills of football playing technique; strengthen psychological preparedness; gain experience in competitive activities. The organization of the process of sports training of football players provided for the creation of appropriate conditions for training and solving the task of training: logistics; place of study; meteorological conditions; occupational safety and injury prevention. The model of training session included: orientation of employment (technical preparation, training, development of physical qualities); training method; lesson duration; speed, pace of exercise and intensity; rest interval; the order of exercises; the nature of rest at intervals; number of repetitions.

Розроблено та обґрунтовано методику техніко-тактичної підготовки спортсменів-орієнтувальників на основі освоєння інтерпретації рельєфу та макетного проектування рельєфних ситуацій. Набули подальшого розвитку дані щодо позитивного впливу засобів та методів, що застосовуються у тренувальному процесі орієнтувальників. Доповнено дані щодо показників уявного мислення, уваги, пам’яті, сприйняття місцевості та прийняття рішень. Практичне значення одержаних результатів полягає у тому, що на основі теоретичного аналізу та емпіричних досліджень виявлено найбільшу ефективність методів вдосконалення техніко-тактичної підготовленості орієнтувальників. Матеріали, отримані в процесі проведення дослідження, можуть бути використані та впроваджені у підготовку орієнтувальників на етапі попередньої базової підготовки у дитячо-юнацьких спортивних школах секції спортивне орієнтування.
Разработана и обоснована методика технико-тактической подготовки спортсменов-ориентировщиков на основе освоения интерпретации рельефа и макетного проектирования рельефных ситуаций. Получили дальнейшее развитие данные о положительном влиянии средств и методов, применяемых в тренировочном процессе ориентировщиков. Дополнены данные по показателям мнимого мышления, внимания, памяти, восприятия местности и принятия решений. Практическое значение полученных результатов состоит в том, что на основе теоретического анализа и эмпирических исследований выявлена наибольшая эффективность методов усовершенствования технико-тактической подготовленности ориентировщиков. Материалы, полученные в процессе проведения исследования, могут быть использованы и внедрены в подготовку ориентировщиков на этапе предварительной базовой подготовки в детско-юношеских спортивных школах секции спортивной ориентировки.
The method of technical and tactical training of orienteering athletes on the basis of mastering the interpretation of relief and layout design of relief situations has been developed and substantiated. Data on the positive impact of tools and methods used in the training process of orienteers have been further developed. Data on indicators of imaginary thinking, attention, memory, perception of the terrain and decision-making have been updated. The practical significance of the obtained results is that on the basis of theoretical analysis and empirical research the greatest efficiency of methods of improvement of technical and tactical readiness of orienteers is revealed. The materials obtained in the course of the research can be used and implemented in the training of orienteers at the stage of preliminary basic training in children's and youth sports schools of the sports orienteering section.

Abstract:
This ethnographic study investigates the experiences of those learning tailoring and trading in Freetown, Sierra Leone via apprenticeships, other on-the-job training or Technical and Vocational Education and Training programs (TVET). I examine these forms of occupational training by investigating the practices underway, how knowledge transmission occurs, as well as why learners engage with and what they get out of these activities. I consider how the job learners utilise occupational training as a manner of increasing social, cultural and economic capital in Bourdieu's sense of those terms to navigate the urban labour market.     I find that the learners aspire fundamentally to social mobility and a sense of self-worth. To achieve this, they use four main tactics: flexibility, reframing, co-operation and diligence. However, I find all tactics are developed in response to greatly circumscribed opportunities to obtain a good and stable income, and increased social status, due to structural inequality. Local political neoliberal discourse on youth unemployment emphasising diligence, belies these inequities and the limited ways in which social mobility is within the individual’s control. Hence, I argue, a focus on training without addressing structural inequality is inadequate.     As the training usually does not lead to paid and reliable employment, I argue it serves more fundamentally as a form of moral education and a vehicle for personal and social development. I argue it helps develop certain personal moral traits and alleviate society's concern about immoral "idle youth". Further, that it helps develop what I term resilience capital; that is, the hard-working and stubborn disposition developed by reframing previous experiences of adversity, which may later assist the individual in acquiring other forms of capital.     Although not its main focus, this study also seeks to contribute to academic scholarship through developing our understanding of knowledge transmission. I find that the process of knowledge transmission is fundamentally social and shaped by hierarchy, subjective positions of power, the inculcation of moral and ethical values, and more dependent for success on various forms of capital than it might at first appear.

Introducing simulation training to ground officers for the first time, within an existing proven curriculum, presents a number of challenges and questions. The proper amount of simulation time to evaluate and train skill sets and how to introduce simulation into an existing curriculum are mostly unknown. We have completed two studies at the Naval PostGraduate School (NPS). The first study examined the length of time and the most appropriate method for introducing simulation training to a user. The second study compared the use of the Close Combat Marines (CCM) Tactical Decision-Making Simulation (TDS) with the traditional method of training decision-making called the Tactical Decision-Making Game (TDG). The TDS and TDG were used in a between-subjects experimental design to examine the viability of each with regard to their ability to evaluate several important military traits. We found that both the TDG and the TDS methods were useful in evaluating a participant's leadership characteristics and decision-making ability. However, only the TDS was capable of evaluating situational-awareness. Our results also address a novel way in which these two approaches could be combined to amplify each other's potential in training of ground officers and military personnel in general.

Soccer has received considerable interest within the existing notational analysis literature with particular focus upon the technical and tactical components of performance. Much of this research has however been limited by conceptual and methodological issues such as the failure to adopt rigorous performance profiling techniques and the use of inadequate data analysis procedures. The purpose of this thesis therefore was to profile the technical and tactical components of soccer performance via a case study of a professional British team using robust methodologies and advanced statistical techniques. All data were collected from match recordings provided by the participating soccer club using the computerised Noldus Observer Video Pro 4.1 behavioural measurement package (Noldus Information Technology, 2002). In Study 1 and Study 2 respectively, technical and tactical measures of 'on-the-ball' performance were developed and validated by professional soccer coaches and experienced notational analysts. The technical aspect of performance was subsequently assessed by constructing behavioural and outcome profiles corresponding to behaviour incidence and success rates. Tactical performance was investigated via the development of spatial profiles relating to the occurrence of the technical behaviours across the pitch surface. Collectively, the findings highlight the need to examine soccer performance at the team, playing position and individual player level to account for the inter- and intra-positional technical and tactical differences within the sport. Based upon the profiles produced within Study 1 and Study 2, Study 3 utilised advanced statistical modelling procedures to examine the potential influence of a number of situation variables upon the technical and tactical components of soccer performance. Log-linear and logit modelling revealed significant main effects and interactions of match location, opposition quality and match status upon behaviour incidence (technical), behaviour occurrence across the soccer pitch surface (tactical) and to lesser extent behaviour outcomes (technical). These findings suggest that potential 'confounding' variables need to be considered when making evaluations and predictions associated with the technical and tactical elements of soccer performance. Overall, the findings of this thesis have facilitated a greater understanding of the profiling of the technical and tactical components of soccer performance through using rigorous methodologies and advanced statistical procedures. Practical implications for soccer coaches and notational analysts are discussed in relation to the scouting of opposition teams and players, and evaluation and prediction of performance. Future soccer-based notational analysis research should consider profiling the technical and tactical components of 'off-the-ball' behaviours and examine the influence of additional 'confounding variables' upon performance.

This information may allow coaches to develop specific training for this population. Method: Analysing all the fights that included lightweight women in the 2010 and 2014 World Judo Championships, 251 athletes across 267 contests were analysed. Video was collected live and downloaded from youtube before being analysed in Sportscode Elite software and exported into Microsoft excel and SPSS for further analysis. Results: Lightweight women appear to have similar time-motion characteristics to previous research across all weight categories. Of the 2284 attacks Ippon-seoi-nage, Uchimata and Sode-tsuri-komi-goshi have the highest frequency but the most efficient throws are O-sotogari, Morote-seoi-nage and O-uchi-gari. The most prevalent and efficient category for Tachiwaza techniques was Ashi-waza and in Ne-waza it was Osaekomi-waza. The effects of laterality and handedness seen in previous research either does not apply to this population or its affects have diminished across judo. Discussion and conclusion: There are similarities between previous reports across weight categories and lightweight women’s judo for time-motion characteristics, types of technique used, category of techniques used, direction of attack, laterality and use of combinations. However, differences appear in the efficiency of counters with lightweight females being very effective at countering their opponents. The popularity of Sode-tsuri-komi-goshi should be closely considered by coaches and is likely to be an emerging theme across all weight categories. There is also significant difference in the data analysing the effect of laterality on performance with difference seeming to diminish, this may also be an emerging trend across all weight categories and possibly all sports. This research appears to be one of the first to tackle fatigue based upon elite level performance in judo and the first to categorise Shido’s by the offence and shows the larger number of offences are for passivity. There are also large discrepancies noted between this research and the IJF databases.

The research focuses on the process of knowledge construction in martial arts and combat sports fundamentals in primary school, through the analysis of the joint activity organization. The didactic sequence investigated was based in the integrated technical-tactical model. An interpretive methodology was used to define the segments of interactivity and its behavioural patterns to understand the mechanisms of educational influence development. It was also assessed the evolution on fighting knowledge by the learners. Seven segments of interactivity had been identified, of which two – activity organization and the guided practice – had been analysed in detail due to its dimension. The results obtained show the singularities and partial unpredictability of each learning process, the relevance of the instructional functions of each pattern and the content’s role in the joint activity. The study conclusions deepen the knowledge about the educational influence on sport teaching-learning processes.
La investigación se centra en el proceso de construcción del conocimiento en iniciación a artes marciales y los deportes de combate en enseñanza primaria, a través del análisis a la organización de la actividad conjunta. La secuencia didáctica investigada se basó en el modelo integrado técnico-táctico. Se utilizó una metodología interpretativa para definir los segmentos de interactividad y sus patrones de comportamiento para comprender el desarrollo de los mecanismos de influencia educativa. Se evaluó la evolución del saber luchar de los alumnos. Se identificaron siete segmentos de interactividad, dos de los cuales - organización de actividades y práctica guiada, se analizaron en detalle por su dimensión. Los resultados obtenidos muestran la singularidad e imprevisibilidad parcial de cada proceso de aprendizaje, la relevancia de las funciones instruccionales y el rol del contenido en la actividad conjunta. El estudio profundiza el conocimiento sobre la influencia educativa en la enseñanza-aprendizaje del deporte.

This thesis is a Case Study of a professional technical training programme designed for an Executive Agency of a major government department. The purpose was to explore the structure, strengths and weaknesses of the programme and to put forward useful suggestions for improvement. The personnel recruited into the programme are experienced technical specialists, often accustomed to the exercise of considerable responsibility and authority, earlier in their careers. The programme is intended to impart the extra skills required in their new role. There is special emphasis on assessment of student learning and curriculum evaluation and the possible confusion between the two terms. The problem of Outcomes and how the competency of the trainees is to be judged is considered. Also considered are learning styles, content and the teaching environment. Research data is included, collected from three primary and one secondary source. The primary sources consist of two questionnaires, one on Assessment of Student Learning and the other on Curriculum Evaluation. The results from these were analysed and from this data, the questions for the Interview Schedules were developed. They were designed to provide clarification or additional data where this was required. This Interview Schedule was structured as a series of open-ended questions, allowing further investigation as necessary. The data has been presented in an easily understood format, making use of tables and pie charts. Links have been established between the existing theories on adult further education and the research findings. Conclusions and suggestions for future improvement have been made.

Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) operators are specially trained personnel that are required to carry equipment to perform high risk tasks. Given the need to carry this equipment, it is important to understand the potentially deleterious effect that the additional load may have on tactical performance. Furthermore, it is important to identify physical fitness characteristics that are associated with the potential decrement in performance. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of load carriage on tactical performance and identify fitness characteristics associated with any decrement in performance. Twelve male operators performed a simulated tactical test (STT) on a live firing range with (loaded condition) and without external equipment (unloaded condition) and completed a battery of physical fitness assessments. Time to complete the STT in the loaded condition increased by 7.8% compared to the unloaded condition. Nine of the 13 STT tasks were performed significantly slower in the loaded condition. VO2peak was negatively associated and fatigue index was positively associated with the overall STT delta time. These findings indicate that a higher aerobic capacity and lower anaerobic fatigability are related to a greater resilience to carrying a load while performing tactical tasks.

This thesis examines the question Can law enforcement officers across multiple jurisdictions benefit from lessons learned in combat environments about medical training It compares the medical training requirements of U.S. military forces with those of various police units. It specifically investigates how military lessons in tactical medicine pertain to the various police departments medical training requirements. The study finds that the main lesson police officers can take from the military is to build community-specific medical training based on unique law enforcement needs and available assets. The military attempts to use hard data surrounding soldiers work environments, access to medical care, and common modes of injury to design its medical training. Police officers should also design law-enforcement-specific medical training based on their assets and specific work environment. Additionally, a more detailed reporting system regarding police officer fatalities would support the officers data collection, which would likely help improve police officer tactical medical training.

Due to a need for congestion relief, as well as a projected increase in capacity constraints, the US Military's Airborne Tactical Network (ATN) is at the onset of a technical transition of their communication hardware and software. While the technical challenges appear to be addressed and agreed upon, the particular challenge lies in navigating the social and organizational challenges of decentralized control, stakeholder misalignment, network externalities, bureaucratic organizational procedures, and limited windows of opportunity. To alleviate these sources of resistance, this thesis proposes an incremental transition strategy that minimizes changes to operational procedures and distributes costs/benefits through schedule-based policy. This research developed a quantitative model to simulate a representative environment of aircraft maintenance routines, flight time, and network usage. Using this model, four incremental strategies were compared including regional, stakeholder-specific, platform-specific, and "big bang" approaches. By evaluating network performance improvements and representative cost profiles, this thesis contends that utilizing an incremental regional or stakeholder-specific strategy is a valid path forward for the ATN transformation. Additional research is necessary; however, to better understand the social dynamics between stakeholders and the relative magnitude of costs associated with each option. This thesis finally presents a 5th incremental strategy utilizing functional increments, which modifies the technical deployment of the systems by staging levels of upgrades sequentially over time. If this is technically viable, the results would distribute lower levels of costs over time and provide enough benefit to account for several years of anticipated growth in network demand.

Resumo: O treinamento com jogos tem sido implantado no futebol em todas as idades e níveis de jogo (profissional e amador). Esta estratégia de treino permite desenvolver os aspectos físicos, técnicos, táticos e emocionais de maneira concomitante. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo consistiu em investigar a influência da dimensão do campo, número de jogadores e o efeito das regras na emergência das ações técnicas (passe, domínio, condução, finalização, desarme e interceptação) e indicadores táticos (centro de jogo, ângulo do passe, igualdade numérica, superioridade ofensiva e defensiva) em três diferentes formatos de jogos. Para tanto, quatorze jogadores de futebol pertencente à categoria sub-20 (altura: 174.04 ± 6.93 cm, massa corporal: 66.58 ± 7.75 kg, percentual de gordura: 10.90 ± 2.90% e VO2max: 49.73 ± 5.03 ml.kg-1.min-1) participaram de três formatos de jogos: 3vs3+Gs (27 x 18 m), 6vs6+Gs (52 x 32 m) e 10vs10+Gs (105 x 64 m) em duas condições (Jogo Controle e Jogo de Manutenção). Os jogos foram filmados por até quatro câmeras de vídeos digitais. Posteriormente, as sequências de imagens foram analisadas no software Dvideo, no qual permitiu obter a posição de todos os jogadores em função do tempo e o registro das ações técnicas ocorridas. No primeiro estudo, foram comparadas as duas condições de jogos, nos formatos 3vs3+Gs e 6vs6+Gs, para verificar o efeito das regras na emergência das ações técnicas ofensivas e defensivas. Os resultados evidenciaram que os jogos de manutenção estimulam mais as ações de passe, domínio, interceptação e passes em manutenção. Contrariamente, os jogos controles estimulam mais ações de condução, finalização e passes em progressão. No segundo estudo, foram comparados os formatos de jogos 3vs3+Gs, 6vs6+Gs e 10vs10+Gs para verificar a influência da dimensão do campo e número de jogadores na manifestação das ações técnicas e nos indicadores táticos. Os resultados mostram que os jogos menores proporcionam maior carga técnica e mais situações de superioridade ofensiva. Por outro lado, os jogos maiores observam baixa carga técnica e mais situações de superioridade defensiva. Pode se concluir com o presente estudo que as regras, dimensão do campo e o número de jogadores modificam a manifestação das ações técnicas e indicadores táticos. Estas informações são importantes para os treinadores construir e organizar os jogos em acordo com os planos de ensino e objetivos pedagógicos
Abstract: The training with games have been implanted in soccer at all ages and levels of play (professional and amateur). This training strategy allows to develop the physical, technical, tactical and emotional aspects concurrently. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the influence of field size, number of players and the effect of the rules in the emergence of technical actions (pass, control, driving, finalization, tackling and interception) and tactical indicators (game center, angle of the pass, numerical equality, offensive and defensive superiority) in three different formats of games. For this end, fourteen soccer players from the under-20 category (height: 174.04 ± 6.93 cm, body mass: 66.58 ± 7.75 kg, fat percentage: 10.90 ± 2.90% e VO2max: 49.73 ± 5.03 ml.kg-1.min-1) participated in three game formats: 3vs3+Gs (27 x 18 m), 6vs6+Gs (52 x 32 m) and 10vs10+Gs (105 x 64 m) in two conditions (Control Game and Maintenance Game). The games were filmed by up to four digital video cameras. Subsequently, the sequences of images were analyzed in the software Dvideo, which allowed us to obtain the position of all players as a function of time and the record of the technical actions that occurred. In the first study, the two games conditions were compared, in the formats 3vs3+Gs and 6vs6+Gs, to verify the effect of the rules in the emergence of the offensive and defensive techniques actions. The results showed that the maintenance games stimulate more pass, control and interception actions and maintenance passes. In contrast, the control games encourage more driving and finalization actions and progression passes. In the second study, the formats of games 3vs3+Gs, 6vs6+Gs and 10vs10+Gs were compared to assess the effect of the field size and number of players in the manifestation of the technical actions and tactical indicators. The results show that smaller games provide greater technical load and more situations of offensive superiority. On the other hand, the larger games observe lower technical load and more situations defensive superiority. It can be concluded with this study that the rules, field size and the number of players modify the manifestation of the technical actions and tactical indicators. This information is important for coaches to build and organize the games in accordance with the plans of teaching and pedagogical objectives

Many organizations have started to adopt knowledge management as one of their strategic initiatives that is to create, retain, share and use the valuable knowledge assets to achieve the organisational objectives. Although knowledge management (KM) is mainly adopted by the private sectors, the Knowledge-based Economy Master Plan, which was launched in 2002 by the government of Malaysia, has encouraged the public and government sectors to value and exploit their knowledge assets. While knowledge comprises both explicit and tacit, many organisations have created knowledge management teams with various KM designations/positions, led by Chief Knowledge Officers (CKOs) to manage the organization knowledge assets. As KM is considered a new, multifaceted and an evolving discipline, frameworks pertaining to KM activities are still lacking. Regardless of which approach an organisation embarks on, there must be a 'shared understanding' of the organisation KM direction so knowledge assets could be capitalized at every level in the organisation. It is crucial for KM team members being able to introduce and promote the organisation's KM direction; therefore, those who are responsible for managing the initiatives should have adequate skills and knowledge to perform their KM tasks. Besides having some managerial and generic competencies, KM team members must also have some essential technical skills (KM-related skills). The research highlighted two research questions - how do KM managers interpret the essential KM-related competencies needed in supporting their KM tasks? and how do these required KM competencies influence KM managers' attitudes towards KM-related training needs to improve their KM understanding and implementation? From the social constructionist philosophical stance, this interpretive study uses the qualitative research approach to explore and investigate the essential KM-related competencies required by KM managers in performing their KM tasks and how they influence the attitudes for KM related training. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, the researcher made a study of KM managers of XYZ; an organisation that adopted a strategic KM approach. An E-focus group was conducted for the pilot study and face-to-face interviews were used to understand the phenomenon based on the experience of KM managers. Findings suggested that six essential KM-related competencies are needed by KM managers; KM overview, Corporate Taxonomy, Communities of Practice (CoPs), KM Tools, Knowledge Measurement and Information Management. This is to make sure that KM could be easily justified in the terms of the benefits to the management and employees, especially relating it to the economic gains. Those competencies were also suggested based on their difficulties in delivering some KM activities such as measuring knowledge, developing taxonomies and establishing appropriate KM tools and CoPs. Indeed as KM managers' suggestions and views on KM competencies come from their KM involvements, KM managers also admitted that those competencies had influenced their preferences towards KM-related training. KM managers prefer some advanced KM-related courses and also certified KM training. The findings have implications for HR/KM personnel and researchers at XYZ as well as others in general. Hence, the major contributions of this research include the following: a. KM competencies framework for KM professions which contributes to b. Demonstrates the implications of the required KM competencies on training preferences c. Presents the design and development of an alternative way of data collection method in conducting e-focus group using blog.

Abstract:
The degree of transfer of technical training to workplace behavior was evaluated using a Solomon Four-Group experimental design. Additionally, all groups received retrospective pretests. Subjects were 103 technicians in an electronics company. Supervisors rated technicians on behaviorally anchored rating scales which were developed and labeled as behavior description scales for simplicity. Analysis of variance revealed no effect for training nor pretest. A training-pretest interaction effect was revealed for one dimension (Communication with Support Groups). Analysis of covariance revealed main effects for pretesting for two dimensions (Problem Solving and Communication with Supervisor) and a pretest-training interaction-for one dimension (Problem Solving). Except for one dimension, t tests revealed no significant differences between traditional pretests and retrospective pretests, thus negating a hypothesized response shift bias.

Load carriage is an inherent part of the military and other tactical occupations (e.g., law enforcement, firefighters). Variation in load carriage ranges from 7-60 kg and can increase energy expenditure as well as lead to higher injury risk. Various novel training methods such as low-intensity interval training (LIT) in combination with blood flow restriction (BFR) as well as high-intensity interval training (HIT) aim at enhancing critical velocity (CV), aerobic fitness, and load carriage performance. Two investigations identified the feasibility of LIT with BFR and the use of HIT to increase performance and load carriage. Methods: Twelve male participants (21.8 +/- 1.5 yrs) underwent LIT with (BFR-LOAD) and without BFR (LOAD) loaded with 15% of their body mass to compare the acute metabolic and perceptual responses. Next, twenty adult participants (male = 15, female = 5) (age = 21.8 +/- 1.5 yrs) completed 4-weeks of HIT (2 d?wk-1) to compare aerobic fitness and load carriage task performance. Results: Metabolic responses (VO2) were elevated 7% during BFR-LOAD (p = .001) compared with BFR familiarization and LOAD Condition. There were significant increases with CV (p = .005) and velocity at VO2max (vVO2max) (p = .037), but there was no statistical difference between the groups. There were load carriage performance improvements for the 3200 m task (p < .001) with a decrease of 9.8% in completion times. Conclusion: There was an increased metabolic response during the BFR-LOAD condition. Thus, there is a potential for BFR to limit the use of load carriage for individuals engaging in rehabilitation and reconditioning programs due to injury. Furthermore, four weeks of 2 d?wk-1 HIT was appropriate to see improvements in with aerobic measures of CV and vVO2max as well as improvements in the load carriage task performances. LIT and HIT methods warrant continued research to increase aerobic fitness and load carriage performance.

Vascular surgery remains a highly technical and unforgiving specialty. This study in the aerospace ground equipment (AGE) apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, examined the use of mobile digital devices to determine which device leveraged the best results and was most compatible with military technical training requirements. The sample consisted of 160 students who attended the course between January and June, 2010. Three devices loaded with course materials were issued to the students, who used the devices in the classroom and were encouraged to use the devices to enhance their study time after class. Quantitative data were obtained by comparing block test scores to determine if any device produced a significant change in student learning. Qualitative data were collected from surveys administered to instructors and students to measure which device instructors and students found easiest to understand and use, and student satisfaction with the device. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed a statistically significant difference (p < .05) in the block test mean scores between groups using mobile devices and the students in the control group that had no device. Post hoc comparisons on each block showed that there was a statistically significant difference between students using the smartphone and students using the other devices, but no statistically significant difference in the block test mean scores between students using the iPod and the netbook. The netbook leveraged the best results, both in block test scores and student satisfaction. The greatest reported disadvantage of the smartphone and the iPod Touch was the small screen size.

Abstract:
This study is about the state of vocational and technical education (VTE) in Ethiopia with particular focus on the factors governing the demand for and supply of middle level technical skills. Ethiopia is a low income agrarian country with a weak industrial base. Economic growth here presupposes, inter alia, the effective use of technologies. This, in turn, would call for the provision of middle level technical skills for deployment in various sectors of the economy. The theme of the study turns on the observations that: a) there is a chronic shortage of supply of middle level technical skills of various categories in Ethiopia; and b) VTE enrolment and expenditure on VTE are both assuming a declining trend. The burden of the thesis is to explain why VTE enrolment and expenditure have to be on the decline while shortfalls in the supply of VTE-based skills prevail. This problem, set in chapter IV, is investigated with the aid of data obtained from primary and secondary sources. The primary data derive from a sample survey covering a total of 420 individuals, including VTE and non-VTE students and employees. The secondary data were gleaned from a wide range of published and unpublished sources. Chapter V explains the problem set in chapter IV in terms of the prevalence of constraints circumscribing the activities of educational planners. Planners in Ethiopia are acutely constrained by the limited investment resources at their disposal. This, coupled with the fact that VTE is 14 to 19 times more expensive than non-VTE and the absence of any coherent manpower planning, would make planners reluctant to spend more on VTE. The consequence of this policy bias is to deprive VTE of qualified teachers and of adequate teaching facilities, thereby constraining the quality and quantity supply of VTE graduates. In chapter VI, the Problem is explained further in terms of the attitudes of individuals towards VTE and their demand for VTE. Results of the analysis of the survey data show that there is an underlying decline of interest in VTE, precipitated mainly by the socially and economically unattractive career prospects associated with VTE-related occupations. Those already in VTE-related employment are - much unlike their non-VTE counterparts - shown to be given to a high 'rate of frustration', arising from poor remuneration and unfulfilled educational and occupational aspirations. The persistence of frustration would make VTE employees ineffective in their jobs. It would also make entry into VTE less attractive thus constraining the scope for the expansion of VTE-based skill supply. The Preponderance, as at present, of such factors as cultural prejudices against VTE, the failure of the labour market to reflect shortages of skill supply by bidding up wage rates for the relevant skills, and policy restrictions on the vertical and horizontal mobility of labour, would only exacerbate the problem of excess demand over supply with respect to VTE skills. The study indicates the need for liberalisation of the labour market by removing the bureaucratic constraints on its operation, the adoption of policy measures enhancing educational and occupational prospects for VTE graduates, the adoption of cost-effective methods of providing VTE to be able to release resources for purposes of VTE expansion, and the reorganisation of VTE curricular structure in such a way as to make VTE professionally appealing to both employers and students.

Providing quality Technical education and training has for a long time been an area of concern for most African countries, given the fact that every year governments allocate huge part of national budget to this sector. The study sought to determine the perceptions of employers regarding the quality of the Botswana Technical Education Programme (BTEP) graduates in terms of three main attributes, namely: survival, technical and employability skills. The main participants for the study were drawn from employers of BTEP graduates. Altogether 62 employers participated in the survey. The study found that although 50.7 % of employers rated survival and practical skills of the BTEP graduates as high, a much greater percentage (60 %) of them rated the level of occupational and employability skills as average. The study also found that while outcomes-based BTEP programme provides relatively high level of survival and practical skills, the level of most work related skills are still below the employers' expectation.

Introduction Clinical decision-making, situation awareness, task management, and teamwork are key non-technical skills (NTS) required by junior doctors. However, research has demonstrated that new doctors have difficulty demonstrating effective NTS behaviours. Tactical decision games (TDGs) are low-fidelity classroom-based activities designed to develop proficiency in NTS. They have been used in other safety-critical industries to develop NTS but their use in undergraduate medical education has been very limited. This aim of this thesis was to explore the potential role of TDGs as a novel method of developing final year medical students’ NTS. Methods Throughout this thesis a qualitative approach was taken, underpinned by constructivist epistemology. In the first instance the feasibility and acceptability of using generic (non-medical) TDGs with groups of final year medical students was explored. Thereafter, the use of non-medical TDGs and acute care simulation scenarios to develop NTS was investigated. Acute medical TDGs were developed with support and guidance from an expert panel. The potential role of medical TDGs to develop final year medical students’ NTS was then explored. Medical TDGs were then implemented into the core undergraduate curriculum in the clinical assistantship programme. Results In the feasibility study six key themes emerged from the data: ‘‘the value of non-medical games’’; ‘‘giving and receiving feedback’’; ‘‘observing and reflecting’’; ‘‘recognizing and understanding NTS’’; ‘‘dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity’’, and ‘‘introducing TDGs into the curriculum’’. Exploring the use of non-medical TDGs and acute care simulation to develop NTS, five key themes emerged from the data: “situation awareness and fixation”; “expectations influencing behaviour”; “being uncomfortable with uncertainty”; “transmitting and receiving information” and “working with peers and seniors”. Using acute medical TDGs to develop NTS, five key themes emerged from the data: “understanding capabilities and responsibilities of team members”; “prioritising in a busy clinical environment”; “developing a workable solution”; “relating medical TDGs to clinical experience” and “introducing medical TDGs into the undergraduate curriculum”. A team of facilitators were trained and medical TDGs delivered to the full final year cohort in the clinical assistantship programme. Discussion and conclusions This thesis has found that generic and acute medical TDGs represent an exciting potential method of teaching medical students NTS. TDGs appear to be versatile activities that can be adapted to meet the needs of participants in different contexts. As such, the full potential of TDGs in the undergraduate curriculum and beyond remains to be explored.
