Abstract:
The paper presents experimental studies of the tribological characteristics of liquid lubricants of various viscosity classes and various groups of operation when using fullerene compositions. Tribological characteristics were evaluated on a four-ball friction machine according to GOST 9490. The use of fullerene compositions in the form of a finely dispersed fullerene powder, pre-dispersed (dissolved) in vegetable high oleic oils, for example, rapeseed, with the subsequent addition of the resulting composition to technical oils of various viscosity classes and various groups of operation, leads to the following positive effect. The anti-wear properties of oils, which are assessed by the wear indicator, increase by 20,0…30,7 %, and the critical load on 18,8…25,0%. These indicators significantly exceed similar indicators when using fullerene fine powders without preliminary dispersion in vegetable oils, where the effect is on the border 11,1…15 %. Fullerene additives do not affect the extreme pressure properties of base oils, which are assessed by the scuffing load. This result makes it possible to state that the way to improve the tribological properties of lubricants by introducing a fine powder of fullerenes into base technical oils is ineffective. The experimental results obtained confirm the hypothesis about the possibility of the micelle formation mechanism in the lubricant under the action of the electrostatic field of the friction surface. The presence of a surfactant solvent (vegetable oil) allows you to "start" the micelle formation process at lower fullerene concentrations and to obtain the effect of increasing anti-wear properties.

In order to take good advantage of polysilicon nanofilm, optimized technical characteristics of the polysilicon nanofilm are very necessary to investigated. In this paper, the polysilicon nanofilms were prepared under different technical parameters, including thickness and doping concentration, which are very important for preparation of the nanofilm. The experimental results of piezoresistive and temperature characteristics show that the optimized technical characteristics are followed, the thickness is about 90nm, and the doping concentration is about 4.1×?1019cm-3 or between 2.0×?1020cm-3 and 4.1×?1020cm-3 from different point of view. The investigations of optimized technical characteristics are very useful for application of the polysilicon nanofilm to piezoresistive sensor.

Technical characteristics are an important influencing factor in fuzzy front-end of product innovation design and also an important output of the house of quality. The analysis and decision-making of technical characteristics are conducive to the rational allocation of resources according to their own advantages and the design of products in line with market demand. In view of the multiple objective constraints and internal fuzziness of technical property selection in the house of quality, the traditional methods have great limitations on the decision-making of technical property. Therefore, this paper proposes a multiobjective decision-making method for technical property selection in the house of quality, which aims to calculate and modify the basic importance of technical property. Based on the rough set algorithm, the basic importance of technical characteristics is determined by using the correlation matrix between consumer demand and technical characteristics, and the relative weight of multiple objectives is determined by “least squares.” On this basis, the multiobjective decision-making model of technical characteristic selection is established and calculated. At last, an example of mobile phone product design was used to verify the practicability and effectiveness of the method.

Technical documentation is an umbrella term covering different types of technical documents (e.g. technical reports, manufacturing standards, installation guides, quick references cards, troubleshooting guides, release notes, etc.) which, irrespective of usage or function, observe general characteristics and share essential features whose effective recognition and knowledgeability facilitate students’ upward career trajectory. The topic is discussed from the perspective of two teaching priorities - awareness of stylistic features characteristic of technical documentation and awareness of performance standards in terms of technical documentation production - within the ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and BELF (English as Business Lingua Franca) frameworks that prioritize the performative and lingua franca dimensions of the English language use in the currently-emerging globalized workplaces.

Recent advances in light emitting diode (LED) technology have provided exciting opportunities for plant lighting applications, and it is expected that LED lighting will soon overtake the still common use of high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting technology. Because LED lighting offers novel capabilities, extensive research is needed to identify optimal lighting practices for the large number of crops grown by commercial greenhouse growers. Plant scientists and growers facing decisions about plant lighting systems do not always have sufficient information about lamp performance characteristics. In this paper, we reported on various technical performance characteristics for 18 lamp types commonly used for plant production, and compared these characteristics with the characteristics of sunlight. The results showed a substantial range of performance characteristics, highlighting the importance of a careful assessment before selecting a light source for horticultural applications. The data presented in this paper can be used to assess the suitability of a specific light source for a particular horticultural application.

The reducing in the pressure characteristic of the submersible pump during operation occurs as a result of the combined action of a number of reasons. Pumping equipment wears out due to waterjet destruction of flow channels. The characteristics of submersible pumps are captured at the factory on special stands. At large group groundwater intakes, wells are equipped with an automated control system that allows testing the pump at the workplace and promptly making a decision on its replacement if the pressure characteristic is unacceptably reduced. The actual pressure characteristic of the pump H н = f (Q) can be plotted directly in the well with a sufficient degree of accuracy. To determine the degree of wear of the pump, its pressure characteristics are compared before installation and at the time of taking readings. The article describes a well strapping scheme for measuring the specific flow rate and pressure characteristics of a submersible pump. The purpose of the study is to derive a dependency for constructing the flow-pressure characteristics of a submersible pump at its workplace and to develop a method for accounting for its wear during operation, which allows predicting a decrease in well productivity over time. An expression is proposed to describe the characteristics of the pump at any time, calculated from its installation in the well. The analysis of the reducing in the pressure characteristics of pumps produced by various manufacturers in the wells of the existing water intake of underground water is presented. It is confirmed that the intensity of the pressure reduction depends on the duration of the pump operation in a given well, the material of the pump impellers and the sand content in the pumped water.

Background. The article discusses the formalization of performance indicators of a multiservice network management system based on the use of hybrid neural-fuzzy technology that combines the advantages of fuzzy logic and neural networks. A developed fuzzy neural model was subsequently used to make a decision about the transfer of real time streams through the channel of the multi-servo network. Methods for assessing the effectiveness of multiservice communication networks can be conditionally divided into three large groups: technical, economic and technical and economic. As the technical characteristics of the efficiency of the computer network, various indicators of network performance and reliability are used. Estimates of the costs of designing, installing and maintaining the network are used as economic characteristics. Technical and economic indicators are used for a comprehensive assessment of the project, and include various combinations of technical and economic characteristics. The response time is an integral performance characteristic, the most important for the network subscriber.

Deep underground laboratories are multidisciplinary research infrastructures. The main feature of these laboratories is the reduced cosmic ray muons flux. This characteristic allows searching for rare events such as proton decay, dark matter particles or neutrino interactions. However, biology in extreme environments and geophysics are also studied underground. A number of ancillary facilities are critical to properly operate low background experiments in these laboratories. In this work we review the main characteristics of deep underground laboratories and discuss a few of the low background facilities.

Abstract:
<p>This research aims to: (1) identify characteristics and competencies of beef cattle farmer, and (2) analyze the influence of characteristics through competencies of farmer on business performance of beef cattle farm in Bandung Regency. In this research, the farmer characteristics consist of personal and psychological characteristic, whereas the competencies consist of technical and entrepreneurial competency. This research used 121 data of beef cattle farmers that collected by proportional cluster sampling according to the central areas of the farm, namely Cikancung, Cimenyan, and Cimaung Districts. The data were analyzed by SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) analysis. The results showed that both characteristics positively and significantly influence both competencies, and also have an indirect effect on business performance by technical competency. Psychological characteristic (need for achievement as a strong predictor) more influential on competencies than personal characteristic (informal education as a strong predictor). Technical competency (managing marketing and input as a strong predictor) positively (γ=0.81) and significantly influence the business performance (productivity as a strong predictor), while the influence of entrepreneurial competency is not significant. Indirectly, psychological characteristic (0.56) more influential on business performance than personal characteristic (0.29). The implication, beef cattle productivity can be increased by improving technical competency, especially for managing marketing and input. This competency can be improved by increasing need for achievement and active participation of farmers in attending the counseling/training by giving them rewards.</p>

Abstract:
Dynamic loads that occur during the operation of existing couplings cause significant shock loads, which leads to rapid wear of the surfaces of the couplings and shortens the service life. Modern technology faces the task of improving the operational reliability of the working bodies and drives of machines. One way to solve this problem is to develop and use high-precision and low-dynamic safety couplings. In this regard, the question of developing new designs of safety couplings that reduce impact loads and increase the reliability and durability of machinery is relevant. The synthesis of structural and kinematic schemes of ball, cam and planetary safety couplings, the method of their calculation in combination with the nature of the change in the moment of resistance on the working body of the equipment. The article conducts a set of theoretical and experimental studies to determine their rational design, kinematic and dynamic parameters that will satisfy the operating conditions of machines and mechanisms. A force analysis of the elastic element (ring spring) was performed. The scheme of loading of an elastic element by two forces and other settlement schemes are constructed, namely: equivalent system; force diagrams for determining the load torque; force schemes for determining the unit moment; schemes of total bending moment; force schemes to determine the total unit moment. During static experimental studies of the developed ball safety couplings, the nature of their operation was established, the maximum torque at the two stages of operation of the couplings was determined and a comparative analysis between the results of theoretical and experimental studies was performed. The positive results of experimental researches of the developed coupling and theoretical positions which can be applied to a substantiation and a choice of rational parameters of the developed designs of couplings and their engineering designing were confirmed.
