UD. Nula Abadi is one of home industry that produces flour and the processed products from sweet potatoes in Bondowoso regency. Lidah kucing is one of UD. Nula Abadi cookies that has potential prospect to develop because these cookies can go into all of marketing segmentation. The aimed of this research are to identify costumer’s quality attribute and to design the quality of lidah kucing UD. Nula Abadi to fulfil costumer’s quality attribute. This research used quality function deployment. The result of this research shows that quality attribute which has being customers priority based on mapping with the technical requirements and competitive profile are taste, packaging material, and texture. The quality design that can be applied for UD. Nula Abadi are keeping the quality of sweet potato, calibrating scale machine, using oven that complete with timer and thermostat, using the packaging material that can be kept the shape of lidah kucing, training the employee to keep production process in accordance with standard operational procedure, having a partnership with local government in terms of promotion and business development.

Abstract During the operation of large industrial installations, a very important task is to maintain the proper technical state. In the event of an emergency, it is vital to locate the place of occurrence as soon as possible. In solving this type of problem, it often helps to apply the methods of measurement associated with ionizing radiation. One of these methods is the gamma scanning. The purpose of this type of measurement is the detection and localization of disturbance of technological processes which may result in incorrect decomposition the fl owing medium and workpiece (sediments, congestion) as well as damage to the internal constructions. A particularly: (i) preventive diagnosis - early detection of installation failure; (ii) rationalization of repairs and renovations - to determine the need to take or not to take remedial action; (iii) quick and precise installation inspections - to gain knowledge of the technical condition and technological installations; (iv) indication of worn parts and posing a threat - diagnostics of the technical condition installation; (v) forecasting the useful lifetime of equipment.

In response to the concerns White raises in his technical comment on Rickles, Heppen, Allensworth, Sorensen, and Walters (2018), we discuss whether it would have been appropriate to test for nominally equivalent outcomes, given that the study was initially conceived and designed to test for significant differences, and that the conclusion of no difference was not solely based on a null hypothesis test. To further support the article’s conclusion, confidence intervals for the null hypothesis tests and a test of equivalence are provided.

AbstractThe radon issue has been known worldwide for dozens of years. Many scientific (ICRP Publication No. 137), technical (ICRU Report No. 88), and legislative (Council Directive 2013/59/EURATOM (EU-BSS)) documents have been published in the last decade. More and more attention is being paid to precise quantification to determine the concentration and consequent effects of various pollutants on human health worldwide. The quality of measurement and the variety of measurement techniques increase the need to unify measurement procedures and metrology continuity. Countries around the world are beginning to unify metrological procedures for determining different quantities based on international recommendations and standards. Not only for these reasons, it became more actual a need for more accurate radon activity concentration measurement and radon metrology unification. This paper summarizes the main remarks and technical aspects to the historical development of radon metrology.

Abstract:
This study determined the behavioral skill outcome of technical education students engaged in cooperative learning. Specifically, the study sought to identify the effects of cooperative learning on technical education student’s communication skill, problemsolving skill and critical thinking skill. There were three research questions posed, and the analysis was driven by three null hypotheses tested at (P<.05) level of significance. It has adopted a quasi-experimental design for the study and intact classes were assigned to treatment groups. The study's population was 41 students of Technical Education (TE), consisting of 41 year 3 students of Industrial Technical Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which was the treatment group allocated to the teaching method of cooperative learning. The instrument used for data collection was the self-assessment inventory of communication skills (CSSAI), the inventory of problem-solving skills (PSSI), and the California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST). Three technical education experts had subjected the instruments to face and content validation. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the study questions while Paired-sample t-test was used to answer the null hypotheses. Findings showed, among others, that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest mean scores taught by Automobile Lighting System students who use cooperative learning in terms of behavioral skill outcome. Among others, it was proposed that technical education teachers be encouraged to use the cooperative learning method in teaching automotive lightening program.

Abstract The occurrence of referential Null Objects (NOs) is a recurrent syntactic feature of ancient Indo-European languages. As previous scholars have remarked, different conditions license the occurrence of NOs in individual languages. In Hittite, the occurrence of NOs has already been observed in reference works, but a systematic account of this phenomenon is still a desideratum. In this paper, we provide a thorough corpus-based study of NOs in a corpus of Old Hittite texts. By means of quantitative data, we illustrate the frequency of NOs in various contexts, and highlight their co-occurrence with sentence connectives, chiefly with ta. We also take into account other parameters that influence the occurrence of NOs. Our analysis shows that in Hittite NOs display a connection with inanimate and less individuated referents and seem to be driven by discourse rather than by syntactic motivations. In addition, textual genre also seems to play role, and we suggest that NOs constitute a feature of the technical language of festivals and ritual texts. Finally, we sketch a possible diachronic scenario that explains the observed distribution of NOs, and argue that Old Hittite attests a phase of ongoing change whereby NOs were being progressively replaced by clitic object pronouns.

A modified PennHIP procedure (MPP), using specific mechanical holding devices, was used on 70 dogs and compared to the standard PennHIP method (SPM) used on 39 dogs, in terms of technical effectiveness and the mean number of essential individuals within the X-ray room (EIXRR). The data using the Chisquared test were consistent with the null hypothesis that the technical effectiveness was equal in the groups under investigation (P > 0.05). On the contrary, using the two-sample unpaired t -test the null hypothesis, that the mean EIXRR was equal, was rejected (P < 0.001). The estimated EIXRR was 3.4 ± 0.7 and 5.7 ± 1.2 (mean ± SD) for MPP and SPM, respectively. In conclusion, the MPP needs fewer EIXXR than the SPM and complies with the new recommendations in X-ray protection, which introduce the ALARA (as-low-as-reasonably-achievable) idea.

Abstract Photon beams with wide energy ranges from 4 MV to 25 MV are commonly used in radiotherapy nowadays. In recent years, there has been a strong interest in a certain modification of a radiotherapeutic apparatus by the application of the so-called flattening filter-free (FFF) beam. Several advantages of FFF beams over standard flattening filter (FF) beams are noticed, and this technical solution has aroused great interest among radiotherapeutic facilities. The goal of the present study is to investigate the differences between the conventional FF and unflattened FFF 6-MV and 10-MV photon beams in some basic dosimetric parameters and their influence on the whole radiotherapeutic treatment. The data provided here include the detailed characteristics as follows: percent depth dose (PDD), beam profile, edge of a half-profile, total scatter correction factor (TSCF) and head scatter correction factor (HSCF) for FF and FFF 6-MV and 10-MV photon beams from the Elekta Versa HD accelerator in the Katowice Oncology Center in Poland.

Abstract:
In the educational sector where the study was conducted to determine effect of pandemics in the use of microelectronics in design of educational apps for online learning in technical education in Nigeria. The population for the study was 302 people made up of 264 technical college teachers in both public and private schools and 38 school administrators. The instrument for data collection was structured questionnaire. The return rate of the instrument was 96%. Three experts validated the instruments. A pilot study of 10 school administrators and 30 technical college teachers were conducted. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to test for the reliability. The total reliability coefficient of .79 was obtained for the instrument. Three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while t test was employed to test the null hypotheses at .05 and .01 levels of significance. Also, MATLAB application was used to give graphical views of critical relations in the study. The major findings were: (1) A good number of private technical education have ICT facilities and staff than most public technical education schools. (2) There is no significant difference between the use of ICT skills of teachers in the pre COVID-19 era because the F-tab of 6.64 and 18.0 at 5% and 1% levels of significances respectively as against F-cal of 0.0014. (3) There is significant difference on the income of technical education administrators since the introduction of EduApps in teaching and learning because the F-tab of 6.64 and 18.0 at 5% and 1% levels of significances respectively as against F-cal of 2.82. It was recommended that technical colleges should be well equipped with Internet of Things facilities and competent technology skilled technical teachers, ICT experts and functional computer laboratory in other to enhance the teaching and learning in technical education.

This paper presents theoretical and experimental aspects of Jacobian nullspace use in kinematically redundant robots for achieving kinetostatically consistent control of their compliant behavior. When the stiffness of the robot endpoint is dominantly influenced by the compliance of the robot joints, generalized stiffness matrix can be mapped into joint space using appropriate congruent transformation. Actuation stiffness matrix achieved by this transformation is generally nondiagonal. Off-diagonal elements of the actuation matrix can be generated by redundant actuation only (polyarticular actuators), but such kind of actuation is very difficult to realize practically in technical systems. The approach of solving this problem which is proposed in this paper is based on the use of kinematic redundancy and nullspace of the Jacobian matrix. Evaluation of the developed analytical model was done numerically by a minimal redundant robot with one redundant d.o.f. and experimentally by a 7 d.o.f. Yaskawa SIA 10F robot arm.

Abstract:
There is, on the Physical Education classes of the Colégio Técnico Industrial (CTISM), a history of growth of the number of students absence from the first to the third grade of Ensino Médio. The objective of this study consisted of identifying and analyzing the causes that lead students to progressively become less engaged on this subject and to become more absent from these classes. Thus, the reason why the third graders of CTISM were more absent from the Physical Education classes than the first-graders was the research question. This study was based on a qualitative research and the research method of case study in the line of research School and Political Practices Public. The participants were a total of seventeen (17) students, being nine (09) students who were on third grade in 2007 and eight (08) students who graduated in 2006 with an elevated rate of class absence. The instruments which were used consisted of an exploratory subject by the third graders as well as a semistructured interview. For the results analysis, the method of content analysis was utilized. From the interaction of the theoretic and empirical elements, two categories that sum up the research results emerged: a) social conditioners; b) physical education conception.<br>Há, nas aulas de educação física do Colégio Técnico Industrial (CTISM), um histórico de aumento no número de faltas dos alunos da primeira para a terceira série do ensino médio. O objetivo desta pesquisa consistiu em identificar e analisar as causas que levam os alunos a, progressivamente, engajarem-se menos nesta disciplina, tornando-se infreqüentes. Assim, por que os alunos da terceira série do Ensino Médio, do CTISM, são mais infreqüentes, nas aulas de educação física, que os alunos que cursam a primeira série, foi a questão de pesquisa. Tratou-se de pesquisa qualitativa, na modalidade estudo de caso na linha de pesquisa Práticas Escolares e Políticas Públicas. Os sujeitos participantes foram num total de dezessete (17) alunos, assim constituídos: nove (09) alunos que estavam cursando a terceira série em 2007 e oito (08) egressos de 2006 com um número elevado de faltas. Os instrumentos utilizados foram uma questão exploratória, realizado com alunos em curso na terceira série, assim como uma entrevista semi-estruturada. Na análise dos resultados, utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo. Da interação entre os elementos teóricos e empíricos, surgiram duas categorias que sintetizam os resultados da pesquisa: a) condicionantes sociais b) concepção de educação física.

Orientador: Maria Madalena Gracioli<br>Resumo: O principal objetivo deste trabalho é identificar os motivos que levam o jovem a interromper seus estudos nos cursos técnicos. Indiscutivelmente a evasão é uma dificuldade enfrentada na educação, que pode ser desencadeada por várias causas, relativas a diversos contextos, e as consequências são inúmeras. No entanto, a conjuntura em que elas estão inseridas é uma só, um futuro prejudicado e sem desenvolvimento pleno, uma vez que o abandono dos estudos é a renúncia ao direito à educação. Essa investigação de caráter qualitativo utilizou a pesquisa bibliográfica realizada em livros, artigos científicos, dissertação e teses, e por uma pesquisa de campo utilizando entrevistas semiestruturadas; a análise dos dados teve por base a desenvolvida por Bardin. A partir do estudo do material colhido foi possível identificar os motivos da evasão nos cursos técnicos, que constituída por fatores externos como trabalho; distância da escola; problemas familiares; a conclusão da educação básica em outras instituições; e, por fatores internos apontados pelos alunos como disciplinas difíceis; curso cansativo; lentidão no processo de ensinar e falta de conhecimento especifico do conteúdo ministrado por alguns professores. Também foi possível perceber que faltam políticas públicas direcionadas ao incentivo e permanência do aluno no Ensino Técnico.<br>Abstract: The main goal of this project is to identify the specific reasons that lead young people to drop out of technical school. Undoubtedly, evasion is a difficulty faced in education which may be caused by many factors, and its consequences abound. However, the future they foresee can be only one: damaged and without full development, as abandoning studies equals giving up education. This qualitative study used books, scientific papers, dissertations and theses as bibliography, as well as semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was based on content analysis developed by Bardin. Using the collected material, it was possible to identify the reason for the evasion from technical schools, which are caused by external factors such as work, distance, family problems, or finishing basic education in other institutions; and internal factors such as hard subjects, exhausting courses, and lack of expertise by teachers. The focus of this study covers the steps occurred during the production processes constituted by moments of reflections about the action, workshops, experiments, ideas production and products that involved high school students. The research goal is therefore to conduct a document analysis of processes and products, trying to identify an approach to the complex thinking. For this are made forty-one (41) intelligibility indicators of complexity based on the principles of complexity formulated by Edgar Morin, which form the basis for information and data analysis originated from interviews and products made by students. Of the forty-one (41) produced indicators, from the analysis were selected twenty-two (22) and from the metaanalysis made emerge two more (2). O recorte feito para este estudo abrange as etapas que ocorreram durante os processos de produção constituídos por momentos de reflexões sobre a ação, oficinas, experimentos, produção de ideias e produtos que envolveram estudantes do Ensino Médio. O objetivo da investigação é, portanto, realizar uma análise documental dos processos e produtos, buscando identificar a aproximação com o pensamento complexo. Para isto são elaborados quarenta e um (41) indicadores de inteligibilidade da complexidade com base nos princípios de complexidade formulados por Edgar Morin, os quais formam a base de sustentação para a análise de informações e dados originados dos relatos e produtos elaborados pelos estudantes. Vorbeugende QM-Techniken operationalisieren die Funktionen des Qualitätsmanagements (QM) mit dem Ziel einer abgesicherten Produktentstehung. Sie leisten einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Erhöhung der Produktqualität. Jedoch zeigen Untersuchungen, dass deren Einsatz häufig sehr große Probleme bereitet. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht vordergründig die FMEA, QFD und DRBFM. Neben der Beschreibung ihrer Anwendungsbereiche, werden die Vorteile und Schwächen gegenübergestellt. Es gilt, die Schwächen mit Hilfe einer neu entwickelten Methode zu umgehen bzw. zu eliminieren. Die Entwicklung zentraler Schwerpunkte zur Erreichung von Null-Fehlerqualität liefert die Basis für die Erstellung einer Checkliste in Form eines Fragenkataloges. Ziel soll es sein, durch die Systematik des Fragenkataloges und Wahl des Antwortformates Fehlerursachen zu vermeiden.

Abstract:
Diploma thesis deals with evaluating effectiveness of CNB monetary policy in a low interest rate environment. First part of the thesis focuses on identification of monetary policy transmission channels and alternative monetary practices rec-ommended for use in a low inflation environment. Next part of the thesis focuses on qualitative analysis of the impacts of CNB monetary policy between years 2008 to 2015 on inflation rate. These impacts are then quantified by correlation and regression analysis. Based on results of qualitative and quantitative analysis it was concluded, that the effectiveness of CNB policy was low, due to inefficiencies in transmission mechanism and high dependence on foreign economic develop-ment. Based on the conclusion, a recommendations for future monetary policy were made.

Dissertação apresentada como requisito parcial para obtenção do grau de Mestre em Ciência e Sistemas de Informação Geográfica<br>O presente trabalho pretende desenvolver um modelo conceptual de um Sistema de Informação Técnica (SIT) baseado numa plataforma SIG, aplicado à Industria, mais especificamente à rede eléctrica de uma fábrica, apresentando ao mesmo tempo a metodologia a seguir na integração do modelo numa organização, e as vantagens que uma ferramenta como esta poderá proporcionar. O modelo conceptual do SIT começará por ser especificado e documentado em linguagem UML, tendo-se identificado neste processo, dois subsistemas na sua constituição, que serão posteriormente transpostos para uma plataforma SIG e para uma plataforma SGBD relacional, tendo-se recorrido para o efeito, ao modelo entidade-atributo-relação (EAR) de [CHEN, 1976] e às regras de transposição de [BENNET et al., 1999]. Concluída a transposição do modelo para as plataformas SIG e SGBD, realizaram-se simulações da sua aplicabilidade a uma grande organização, mais concretamente à VWAutoeuropa, empresa seleccionada para o estudo de caso. As simulações contemplaram os três tipos de análise suportados pelo SIT, nomeadamente, análise de problemas rotineiros de localização de equipamentos, análise de problemas com recurso à integração de informação de outros sistemas de informação, como o SAP e o Sistema de Gestão de Energia (SGE) e análise de problemas complexos com recurso a operações de geoprocessamento, em que neste caso o (SIT) pode ser encarado como um sistema de apoio à decisão. O modelo criado deixa antever que existe a possibilidade de expansão a outros tipos de infraestruturas, nomeadamente às redes de água, saneamento, gás e informática. O tipo de abordagem que foi feita ao longo da presente dissertação, através da inclusão de vários tipos de modelos, tornam esta dissertação numa espécie de Guideline a utilizar na integração de SIG’s ou outros Sistemas de Informação em organizações.

O estágio possibilitou a formação teórica e prática na ferramenta de tradução memoQ e permitiu explorar a criação de memórias de tradução, glossários e bases de dados, ferramentas hoje fundamentais para uma maior rapidez, eficácia e consistência na tradução técnica. Neste relatório apresentam-se as características basilares do texto técnico e da tradução técnica e especializada, explicam-se as técnicas essenciais utilizadas em tradução técnica e exploram-se os requisitos fundamentais do tradutor técnico. It allowed the author of this report to experience the work developed by the company in terms of providing professional translation services, including technical translation, formatting and transcription tasks. The new technological developments in the information age have received great attention within Translation Studies, especially over the past two decades, making way for reflections on previously less explored areas such as technical translation and computer-assisted translation tools, which have undergone rapid evolution in recent years. The internship provided the opportunity for theoretical and practical training in a specific translation tool, memoQ, allowing the author of this report to explore the creation of translation memories, glossaries and databases, which have become fundamental tools for greater speed, efficiency and consistency in technical translation. This report presents the basic characteristics of the technical text and of technical and specialised translation, explains the basic techniques used in technical translation and explores the key features of the technical translator. Establishing a bridge between theory and practice, lists were prepared of the main projects performed during the internship, discussing the main difficulties found in each of the areas explored. Finally, a brief reflection is made on the entry of a translator into the professional labour market.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Evolução e Biologia Humanas apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia<br>A reconstrução das atividades no passado através da análise das alterações das enteses (AE) e das articulações (AA), tem sido um dos objetivos principais dos investigadores interessados no estudo dos modos de vida das populações do passado. Este trabalho tem como principais objetivos perceber se as AE e AA estão relacionadas com os gestos técnicos desempenhados pelos indivíduos na execução de tarefas ocupacionais e mostrar que a informação que acompanha os indivíduos pertencentes às coleções de csqueletos identificados é muito superficial. Para tal, recorreu-se à análise das AE e AA numa amostra de 70 indivíduos do sexo masculino (entre os 18 e 88 anos) pertencentes à coleção de esqueletos identificados de Lisboa e a entrevistas a 15 indivíduos (entre os 63 e 95 anos). Para a análise das AE e AA foram utilizados o novo método de Coimbra (Henderson et al., 2016, 2017a) e o método de Buikstra & Ubelaker (1994) adaptado por Alves Cardoso (2008), respetivamente. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas (Burgess, 1997). Os resultados obtidos sugerem que as AE e AA não estão relacionadas com a ocupação (exceto para o pulso direito), o que está de acordo com outros trabalhos. Não foi encontrada assimetria bilateral estatisticamente significativa para as enteses e articulações analisadas na amostra esquelética, mas entre os informantes é evidente a existência de um membro dominante. A informação recolhida através das entrevistas parece estar de acordo com os achados da análise da amostra esquelética em alguns casos mas não noutros. O tamanho das amostras pode ter sido um fator de enviesamento dos resultados. As diferenças encontradas nas análises das duas amostras sugerem que são necessários mais trabalhos que estudem tanto material esquelético como indivíduos vivos. Um maior investimento na recolha de informação acerca das atividades dos indivíduos pertencentes a coleções de esqueletos identificados é também necessário.<br>The reconstruction of past activities through the analysis of entheseal and joint changes has been one of the main goals of researchers interested in the life ways of past populations. The main goals of this work are to understand if entheseal and joint changes are related with technical gestures made by the individuals on the execution of occupational tasks and show that the information accompanying individuals that belong to the identified skeletal collections is very superficial. For that purpose, entheseal and joint changes were analysed in a sample of 70 males (between 18 and 88 years of age) from the identified skeletal collection in Lisbon and interviews of 15 individuals (between 63 and 95 years of age) were performed. Entheseal and joint changes were analysed using the new Coimbra method (Henderson et al., 2016, 2017a) and the Buikstra & Ubelaker (1994) method adapted by Alves Cardoso (2008), respectively. Semi structured interviews were made (Burgess, 1997). The results suggest that entheseal and joint changes are not related with occupation (except for the right wrist), which is consistent with other studies. Bilateral asymmetry was not statistically significant for entheses or joints in the skeletal sample but among interviewees a dominant side is evident. The information collected through the interviews seems to agree with the findings of the analysis of skeletal sample in some cases but not in others. The sample sizes might have been a biasing factor for the results.The differences found in the analysis of both samples suggest that more studies with both skeletal material and living individuals are necessary. A bigger investment in the collection of information about individuals’ activities belonging to identified skeletal collections is also necessary.

As características particulares deste desporto requerem um conhecimento multidisciplinar do treinador, como meio de aplicação dos vários conteúdos em treino, para a preparação da competição a curto prazo e para a formação dos jogadores a longo prazo. Este relatório aborda a dimensão física, tática, técnica e psicológica do treino e competição, com ênfase na vertente física. Pretendeu ao longo do relatório questionar-se se as metodologias modernas de treino, aqui apresentadas, permitem um estímulo suficiente para a preparação dos jogadores para a competição, e para a sua formação a longo prazo. O estágio profissionalizante permite um confronto direto dos conhecimentos, obtidos ao longo da formação do estagiário, com a sua aplicação na prática profissional. A constante intervenção, análise e reflexão permite o desenvolvimento das capacidades práticas de planeamento e condução do treino, de mãos dadas com o conhecimento adquirido ao longo do processo de estágio. O estágio aqui reportado foi realizado no Real Sport Clube, tendo o autor desempenhado as funções de treinador adjunto da equipa de juniores, que participou na 2ª Divisão do Campeonato Nacional de Juniores, da Federação Portuguesa de Futebol. The coach and his staff became a central figure in the continuous development of Football as a sport. The particular characteristics of this sport require a multidisciplinary knowledge of the coach as a means of application of the various contents in training. Not only for the preparation of the competition in the short-term period but also for the growing and evolution of the players in a long-term period. This report tackles the physical, tactical, technical, and psychological dimensions of training and the game, with special reference to the physical load. It was mainly intended to question throughout the report, whether the modern training methodologies presented here allow sufficient stimuli to prepare the player for the immediate competition as well as his long-term development. The professional internship allows a direct confrontation of the knowledge obtained during the learning stage of the trainee, with its application in professional practice. The constant intervention, analysis and reflection allows the development of practical capacities of the trainee in planning and conducting the session, hand in hand with the knowledge acquired throughout the internship process. The internship here reported was carried out in Real Sport Clube, and the author played the role of assistant coach of the Under-19 team. This team participated in the 2ª Divisão do Campeonato Nacional de Juniores, of the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol. In this document is exposed the practical activity during the internship period as well as raising questions about the training methodologies currently used in Football.

Although mutant mouse models are unable to capture the subjective experiences and full complexity of psychiatric disorders, they have nonetheless provided important insights into the pathophysiology of various endophenotypes observed in neuropsychiatric illnesses. These mouse models enable the detailed dissection of cellular, molecular and circuit mechanisms that may underlie the abnormal behaviors observed in OCD, using methods that cannot be applied to human patients for ethical, practical and technical reasons. Mouse models exhibiting repetitive OCD-like behaviors, especially grooming, include the Sapap3-null (Sapap3-/-), Slitrk5-null (Slitrk5-/-), Hoxb8-null (Hoxb8-/-), and Shank3b-null (Shank3b-/-) mouse models. Evidence from these mice implicates a defect in cortico-striatal glutamatergic transmission in compulsive behavior. Moreover, studies using these mice have shown that this impaired cortico-striatal transmission is due to the aberrant expression of silent synapses. These mouse models support the hypothesis that defective glutamatergic neurotransmission in the cortico-striatal-thalamo-cortical circuit underlies OCD.

This chapter examines needs satisfaction of stakeholders and some socio-economic factor justification for curriculum reforms in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The study used random samples of 134 technical teachers and 286 ST3 students from the population of 136 teachers and 1002 ST3 students in all 6 Public Technical Colleges in Kogi State. A researcher-developed instrument called needs satisfaction of stakeholders: a case for TVET curriculum reform with a KR-21 reliability index of .73 was used to collect the data. Two null hypotheses were tested at .05 alpha levels using the t-test statistics. Results showed that respondents were unanimous in their responses that the stakeholders' (students, employers, and the public) needs were not satisfied with the TVET curriculum.

The common myth that mobile learning cannot propel in a rural setting is null and void. The influx of modern ICTs like mobile technologies can revolutionize information access among the less privileged in many African communities. Using the Actor-Network Theory as a methodological tool, the chapter explores opportunities of increasing knowledge access through mobiles, by understanding the networks involved in farmer's mobile learning practice, with reference to Uganda. The chapter reveals that mobile technologies offer affordable individual and group learning opportunities to smallholder farmers. Learning is a socially constructed activity, where farmers with access to ICTs like mobile phones share knowledge among those with no access. Through a socio-technical discussion, technological initiatives ought to be pro-people where farmers' needs are key considerations in the mLearning actor-network. For sustainable impacts, all actors need to work collaboratively, negotiate different realities, and appreciate the local challenges within which mobile technologies can support learning.

The governing equations of multibody systems are, in general, formulated in the form of differential algebraic equations (DAEs) involving the Lagrange multipliers. For efficient and accurate analysis, it is desirable to eliminate the Lagrange multipliers and dependent variables. Methods called null space method and Maggi’s method eliminate the Lagrange multipliers by using the null space matrix for the constraint Jacobian. In previous reports, one of the authors presented methods which use the null space matrix. In the procedure to obtain the null space matrix, the inverse of a matrix whose regularity may not be always guaranteed. In this report, a new method is proposed in which the null space matrix is obtained by solving differential equations that can be always defined by using the QR decomposition, even if the constraints are redundant. Examples of numerical analysis are shown to validate the proposed method.
