Abstract:
Comprehensive morphological and mineralogical studies of atmospheric microparticles sampled on the roof of the museum complex and near roads in the town of Istra, Moscow region, have been carried out. Morphological research at different hierarchical levels revealed the multicomponent composition of microparticles and made it possible to identify the most characteristic groups of microparticles of natural and anthropogenic origin. The composition of the studied atmospheric microparticles is dominated by mineral grains of quartz and feldspars; biotite and calcite are singly noted, which reflects

This study examines soil contamination by heavy metals in Ukraine resulting from military activities, focusing on three regions: Chernihiv (ChD), Sumy (SmD) and Dnipropetrovsk (DnD). These regions have varying technogenic backgrounds, affecting contamination levels. The aim was to assess concentrations of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Pb, Cu, Ni, Mn, Zn) in soils affected by military actions and evaluate the associated environmental risks. Soil samples were collected from areas directly affected by explosions and from locations 500 meters away. Concentrations of heavy metals were compared with maximum

The Oka basin is characterized by serious environmental problems associated with the depletion of water resources. Communities of aquatic organisms are the first to respond to negative changes in the aquatic environment, such communities are used as indicators in biological monitoring. The aim of the work was to assess the ecological state of the small river of the Oka basin by bioindication. The quality of the water in the reservoir was assessed by chemical indicators - biogenic and technogenic elements. The saprobity index of the reservoir was determined by the species diversity of periphyto

The innovative technology of sulphurous-alkaline waste recycling after sulfur removal to produce technogenic soil was proposed and tested. The ecological safety of the obtained granular product was proven. Product granulometric composition, its density, humidity and compactibility vs. natural soils were researched. Applicability of obtained material as technogenic soil was substantiated. High strength properties of obtained technogenic soil were identified for enabling steep slope fillings and reducing the earthwork area.

This article presents the results of studying the distribution of mercury in the cores of bottom sediments of both background and technogenic Arctic lakes in three regions: the Kola North, Malozemelskaya tundra and northwest Siberia. For all cores, the elemental composition, granulometry, and loss on ignition (LOI) were determined layer by layer. Mercury showed a significant excess of the local background in the near-surface sedimentary layers of most lakes. Fluxes of mercury from the pre-industrial period to the present were calculated.
