Abstract:
Although numerous studies have been conducted on the use of self-service technology (SST), little is known about the importance of the situation for individuals’ acceptance of SSTs. This study proposed the situational dependency construct and analyzed the role of the construct in the use of SSTs. To conduct an empirical analysis, a research model combining the situational dependency variable with the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of the technology acceptance model variables, which are the most frequently used in studies related to SSTs, was developed. A total of 213 valid data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis through structural equation modeling. The results showed that situational dependence influenced attitude toward using along with perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness and that situational dependence had a strong influence on intention to use. This study provides strategic insight for practitioners to lead acceptance of SSTs.

Rapid development in mobile technologies has brought about changes in human behavior and social relationships. The mobile revolution has brought about changes in technology dependence. It has also increased technostress. This research studies the mobile technology dependence construct. A survey was conducted among mobile phone users. Structural equation models were used to analyze the results. Results indicated that connecting to work, location based services, and sense of security, are important factors of the mobile technology dependence construct, and that increased technology dependence leads to increased mobile technostress, and increased discontinuance intentions. Implications of the findings are examined.

Abstract:
With the innovation of global trade business models, more and more foreign trade companies are transforming and developing in the direction of cross-border e-commerce. However, due to the limitation of platform language processing and analysis technology, foreign trade companies encounter many bottlenecks in the process of transformation and upgrading. From the perspective of the semantic matching efficiency of e-commerce platforms, this paper improves the logical and technical problems of cross-border e-commerce in the operation process and uses semantic matching efficiency as the research object to conduct experiments on the QQP dataset. We propose a graph network text semantic analysis model TextSGN based on semantic dependency analysis for the problem that the existing text semantic matching method does not consider the semantic dependency information between words in the text and requires a large amount of training data. The model first analyzes the semantic dependence of the text and performs word embedding and one-hot encoding on the nodes (single words) and edges (dependencies) in the semantic dependence graph. On this basis, in order to quickly mine semantic dependencies, an SGN network block is proposed. The network block defines the way of information transmission from the structural level to update the nodes and edges in the graph, thereby quickly mining semantics dependent information allows the network to converge faster, train classification models on multiple public datasets, and perform classification tests. The experimental results show that the accuracy rate of TextSGN model in short text classification reaches 95.2%, which is 3.6% higher than the suboptimal classification method; the accuracy rate is 86.16%, the F 1 value is 88.77%, and the result is better than other methods.

Abstract:
This study aims to understand and examine the economic relation between Indonesia and Japan. This paper questioned; how will the degree of Indonesia’s economic dependence on Toyota’s corporation affect the economic diplomacy through IJEPA? As analytical tools, this article used the concept of transnational economic diplomacy. This paper argues that Indonesia has experienced a very high economic dependency phase in the automotive sector, through Toyota Corporation. This dependence is not only on the existing corporation, but also on the partner country - Japan. Meanwhile, amidst the existing dependencies, the IJEPA agreement itself contains a major problem. It is seen that Japan’s offer through MIDEC program in the form of technology transfer has not yet shown its seriousness. As a result, negotiating agreements to implementation is considered a failure. The two findings are alternating to make Indonesia lower in the bargaining position of the next negotiation. Keywords: Transnational economic diplomacy, economic dependency, IJEPA, MIDEC, and Toyota.

Abstract:
Previous literature suggests that trade contributes to knowledge and technology spillovers among trading partners. Using panel data and country-specific fixed effects, we show that the technology of a country is explained by existing technology of its major trading partners. We build an endogenous growth model for OECD countries for the 1960–2010 period; we draw the residuals to measure the Total Factor Productivity (TFP) of each country. Then, using spatial econometrics, we regress the TFP of each country on previous TFP of its major trading partners. In addition, we run a Random Coefficient Model, to let this relationship vary randomly by country. Finally, we run the endogenous growth model again, but now it includes the spatial lag term as an explanatory variable.

Abstract:
Introduction Ultrasonographic (US) measurements of intima-media thickness (IMT), particularly of the carotid arteries, have been used as a cardiovascular risk assessment tool. Variations in manual and semiautomatic measurements were investigated in an animal model—the aorta of 10 rabbits with dyslipedemia. Methods IMT was measured in B-mode images with 256 shades of gray using a 10 MHz probe by two independent investigators: (a) three same-place manual measurements were averaged in five distinct locations of the aorta of each rabbit for a total of 50 measurements per investigator (subgroups M1 and M2); (b) experimental software allowed for alterations in blood-intima and media-adventitia brightness line definition for IMT detection; observer 1 used brightness 50–200, adaptable to all images (SA1); observer 2 started with 10–60—the usual for human carotid measurements in this package—and increased values until IMT lines were visually acceptable; IMT was measured at optimized values for each image (SA2). Mean values were compared by using the paired t-test available in Excel. Results SA1 measurements, 0.379 ± 0.112 (SD) mm, were significantly smaller than SA2, 0.403 ± 0.122 mm, M1, 0.404 ± 0.149 mm, and M2, 0.405 ± 0.140 mm (<0.001 for all three SA1 versus SA2, M1 and M2 comparisons). Conclusion/Discussion Distinct automatic technologies, including (a) selection of blood-intima and media-adventitia brightness interfaces and (b) signal processing to “improve” line images, may alter IMT measurements significantly. Assumed population variations may be affected by technology used. IMT gender and age tables may be applicable only if the same measurement technology was used consistently.

Abstract:
Verification of nonlinear functional dependences of the Grigoryan soft soil medium model that characterize the soil resistance to shear deformation – i.e., the dependences of the yield strength on pressure and the shear modulus on density, is carried out. The equations of the Grigoryan soil environment model are modified to account for the variability of the shear modulus. An example of numerical implementation of the obtained equations in Lagrange variables based on the technology of integrating user material into the dynamic strength module of the LOGOS software package is given. An analytical solution is obtained that represents the loading path in the element of the ground medium on the plane of the main stresses during loading and unloading under uniaxial deformation. The linear dependence of the yield strength on pressure and the linear dependence of the shear modulus on density were assumed. It was assumed that the volume compressibility curves for loading and unloading are known. Calculations are performed and a good correspondence between the results of numerical calculations and the analytical solution is shown. Calculations are performed showing the influence of the parameters of the pressure-dependent yield strength and the density-dependent shear modulus on the loading curve on the plane of the main stresses. The parameters of nonlinear functional dependences of the Grigoryan model of the soil environment are determined on the example of known experimental data on the deformation of a sample of dry sandy soil in a bounding cage using The Hopkinson split rod system and the Kolsky method. A fractional-rational dependence of the yield strength on pressure and a bilinear dependence of the shear modulus on density were assumed. It is shown that the use of linear dependencies allows us to obtain a correspondence of the calculation results with experimental data only in special cases with the appropriate selection of parameters. The use of a nonlinear dependence of the yield strength on pressure with a single set of parameters provides a good agreement with the experimental data of various authors for stresses up to 125 MPa.

Abstract:
Children with medical technology dependency (MTD) require a medical device to compensate for a vital body function and substantial nursing care. As such, they require constant high-level supervision. Respite care provides caregivers with a temporary break, and is associated with reduced stress; however, there are often barriers. The study utilizes mixed methodology with the National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs (NS-CSHCN) and semistructured interviews with state-wide care coordinators to understand the gap for respite care services. Fifty-nine percent of parents who needed respite care received none. Parents of older children with MTD were more likely to report respite needs. Care coordinators described that home health shortages created barriers to respite care utilization, and the lack of respite care can lead to hospital readmission. Although respite care is a vital resource to support families of children with MTD, it is infrequently available, which can have severe consequences.

Abstract:
Purpose Technology uncertainty poses significant challenges to manufacturers, as rapid changes in product and/or process standards and specifications can disrupt the smooth flow of materials in extended supply chains. Practitioners and researchers alike who take a relational perspective widely regard supplier involvement as a potentially effective strategy to cope with technology uncertainty, as focal manufacturers can tap into their upstream supply networks for complementary resources and capabilities. However, the literature lacks a nuanced understanding of the supplier involvement processes. Specifically, the role of resource dependence for supplier involvement has yet to be systematically understood. To fill this gap, this study aims to combine the relational perspective with the resource-dependence perspective to explore how buyer dependence, supplier dependence and buyer–supplier interdependence influence buyers’ decision-making on tapping into upstream supply networks for coping with technology uncertainty. Design/methodology/approach To test the hypotheses, a survey is conducted among Dutch firms with more than 50 employees in the discrete manufacturing industries (ISIC 28-35), resulting in a sample of 125 manufacturers. Findings First, there is a significantly positive relationship between technology uncertainty and supplier involvement, giving support to the expectation that buyers are indeed involving their key suppliers in the product/process design and improvement, as a response to technology uncertainty. Second, buyer dependence and interdependence are found to be positively moderating the relationship between technology uncertainty and supplier involvement. In contrast, supplier dependence has a negative moderating effect on the baseline relationship. Research limitations/implications The authors contribute to a relational view on buyer–supplier relationships by showing that the validity of this view, in the context of technology uncertainty, is contingent on the resource dependence between buyers and suppliers, and the authors contribute to the supply chain management literature more generally by combining a relational perspective with a resource-dependence perspective. Practical implications The findings provide several nuanced insights into the effect of resource dependence (buyer dependence, supplier dependence and interdependence) on supplier involvement for coping with technology uncertainty. Originality/value This study contributes to the supply chain management research by going beyond the benefits of supplier involvement and highlights the circumstances under which supplier involvement is likely to occur.

Abstract:
Online technologies are currently the most dynamically developing industry, both in product creation and promotion. The study focuses on their incorporation into the SME (small and medium enterprises) segment, which comprises the most economically stable element of any European economy. This paper aims to identify and evaluate dependency in the area of online technologies and promotion tools use in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) related to company age and export involvement. Most research on SMEs focuses on external influences and factors, while this article reflects the internal environment of business entities, which is the source of this study’s originality. The hypotheses were validated by an empirical study of a sample of 743 respondents (companies and entrepreneurs, including family businesses). The research method was a combination of CATI and CASI, and the research tool was a structured questionnaire. To analyze the survey results, the Chi-square test of independence was applied. The key finding was validation of the dependence between the use of the online tools for manufacturing and promotion and the export focus of companies. Companies operating on foreign markets use a wider range of online tools for their business than companies focused on the domestic market. On the other hand, the presumed significant differences in the use of online tools between young businesses and companies long-term established on the market were not confirmed. With the view of the phenomenon that different test modules have significant differences in the assembly test system, and there is some dependence between these modules, through the dependence theory of the parallel technology, there is the possibility of parallelization used in the integrated test system. In this paper, we analyses various control flows of each program or relation between the modules, and then gets all kinds of dependency between these modules, at the same time transforms the dependency into control flow graph, lastly gets the dependency of actual test cases. On this basis, according to the former implementation plan in parallel research, we can arrange parallel orders of modules the integrated test system, it can effectively improve the efficiency of software testing, and greatly saves the test time.

Abstract:
The article presents the dependences of the active and reactive components of the losses of the idle transformer on the mains voltage. It is proposed to evaluate the no-load losses using an alternative method for identifying the parameters of the transformer based on high-precision synchronous measurements. Within the framework of a pilot project on a real feeder, using the technology of synchronous measurements, the dependences of no-load losses on voltage were identified. For transformers installed in a distribution network, the dependence of losses on voltage is not quadratic, but has a higher order. It was determined that the dependence of losses in a transformer on voltage for active power has a power of 6.35, and for reactive power has a power of 7.4.

Abstract:
Experiments were carried out for n-channel devices, processed in a 300 nm CMOS technology. The investigated devices have a gate oxide thickness of 6 nm and the effective interface area is AG = 1.5 m2. The RTS measurements were performed for constant gate voltage, where the drain current was changed by varying the drain voltage. The capture time constant increases with increasing drain current. The model explaining the experimentally observed capture time constant dependence on the lateral electric field and the trap position is given. From the dependence of the capture time constant c on the drain current we can calculate x-coordinate of the trap position. Electron concentration in the channel decreases linearly from the source to the drain contact. Diffusion current component is independent on the x-coordinate and it is equal to the drift current component for the low electric field. Lateral component of the electric field intensity is inhomogeneous in the channel and it has a minimum value near the source contact and increases with the distance from the source to the drain. It reaches maximum value near the drain electrode.

Abstract:
Investigating dependence structures of stocks that are related to one another should be an important consideration in managing a stock portfolio, among other investment strategies. To capture various dependence features, we employ copula to overcome the limitations of traditional linear correlations. Financial time series data is typically characterized by volatility clustering of returns that influences an estimate of a stock’s future price. To deal with the volatility and dependence of stock returns, this paper provides procedures of combining a copula with a GARCH model which leads to the construction of a multivariate distribution. Using the copula-based GARCH approach that describes the tail dependences of stock returns, we carry out Monte Carlo simulations to predict a company’s movements in the stock market. The procedures are illustrated in two technology stocks, Apple and Samsung.

This paper examines the implications of such trends on travel behavior by quantifying the impacts of a technologically engaged childhood—generally attributed to millennials—and an increased use of technology during travel on travel behavior now and in the future. Results indicate that individuals who grew up with a stronger childhood technology experience are more likely to be technologically engaged as adults, have stronger pro-environmental attitudes, lower car dependence, and stronger interest in autonomous vehicles. The results also support a simultaneous relationship between technology use during travel and car dependence, which posits that individuals with lower car dependence (or availability) are more likely to use technology during travel. Emanating results put forward potential benefits of policy starting at the childhood level. The implications of this work will only gain importance as the interplay between technology and travel deepens and as a larger share of the adult population become “digital natives.”

Abstract:
A promising direction for production of simple profiles by rolling includes grooveless rolling. Due to the use of forming in smooth rolls, this direction significantly reduces the production cost of finished products and simplifies the rolling process. However, despite all the obvious advantages of deformation in smooth rolls, there are disadvantages that complicate industrial implementation including the need for edging after each pass and a small coefficient of extraction in smooth rolls. It causes an increase in the number of passes. For the solution of problems encountered in current industrial implementation of grooveless rolling, it is proposed to use deprived-wide vertical stands in continuous groups. Deformation in non-water vertical stands is provided by more complete use of the reserve of contact friction forces of the drive stands installed in front of them. The conditions under which the use of non-water vertical stands is possible are determined. After solving the equation of forces equilibrium on the contact surface in the deformation center of the drive stand, dependence is obtained by which it is possible to find the value of longitudinal force provided by reserve of friction forces. By solving the equation of power balance in form of non-drive rolls, the dependence is obtained determining the longitudinal force required for deformation. The authors offer the dependence by which it is possible to determine the maximum allowed distance between the drive and non-drive stands, providing longitudinal stability of the strip. Using dependencies to determine conditions of deformation in horizontal drive and non-driven vertical mills with smooth rolls, reduction modes during rolling of rebar No. 12 in conditions of JSC “EVRAZ ZSMK” 250 continuous light section mill using roughing stands for grooveless rolling were calculated. As a result it was found that the use of non-water vertical stands allows rolling of larger cast billet of 125x125 mm square on the mill. Economic component of transition to the larger cast billet with development of grooveless rolling was estimated. Advantages of the proposed solutions are shown in comparison with classical method of rebar No. 12 rolling on 250 continuous small-grade mill of JSC “EVRAZ ZSMK”.

Abstract:
The article represents the investigation of such a common phenomenon as screen dependency and its impact on the life-creativity of a modern man. In a modern changing world, it is difficult to avoid humanity's interaction with various advances in the field of modern technology and new information technologies - mobile communications, personal desktops and laptops, services of the global Internet. It constantly occurs at different times of the day, in varying degrees, without a specific place or sphere of human activity. Screen dependency is the acute obsessive need of a person to use devices, the design feature of which is a screen availability, through which various types of information represent real life and which make modern Internet technologies material. While researching, it was discovered that the screen dependency actually covers a number of other well-known destructive human dependencies, in particular, dependence on the computer, television, mobile communications, and the global Internet network. It is determined and argued that the screen devices as a powerful source of information and a significant resource of social development can enrich the artist with the latest creative ideas. At the same time, excessive enthusiasm in screen products may not only have a negative impact on the physical and mental health of a person, but also lead to very negative consequences for the culture, in particular, the numerous borrowings of other artistic ideas, the depreciation of traditional culture and its components, the loss of one’s own creative personality.

Abstract:
Selecting the best wastewater treatment (WWT) technology requires a thorough qualitative and quantitative evaluation of multi-dependence criteria. A network based method is one of the many possible techniques that able to handle multi-dependence criteria in the selection. This paper proposes relative importance weights of alternatives in selecting the WWT technology using the analytic network process (ANP) in Terengganu Malaysia. The ANP is applied to establish the relative weights of alternatives based on criteria and sub-criteria that available in the WWT technology selection. Two faculty members attached to a public university and an engineer in Malaysian government agency were interviewed to provide evaluation within the framework of ANP. Inner dependence and outer dependence analysis of ANP are fully utilised to establish relative importance weights of alternatives. The experiment result reveals that the relative importance weights of the three alternatives are 0.3074, 0.2795 and 0.2447. The alternative ‘Composting’ has decided as the most suitable technology in WWT which provides the highest relative importance weight among all the three alternatives. The results would be a great significance for the practical implementation of the WWT technology selection.

Abstract:
The dependence factors in power systems should be considered in stochastic power flow computation, so Joint Normal Transform (JNT), belonging to the copula function technology, is improved to model these dependences. Firstly, the procedure of traditional JNT method is introduced and the principle of correlation structure’s remaining unchanged is analyzed combined with the properties of rank correlations when JNT method is utilized in dependence modelling. Then, an improved JNT sampling method is proposed to raise sampling efficiency by applying Orthogonal Transformation according to the characteristic that JNT method is based on Normal Distribution. Finally, a calculation example is designed to verify the feasibility of the proposed improved JNT sampling method.

Abstract:
Abstract This study presents a careful understanding of the impact of information dependence on public attitudes (PAs) towards genetically modified (GM) technology in China by employing a structural equation modelling approach. Results in this study provide further empirical evidence to support the point of view that PAs towards GM technology vary with their information dependence. Information evaluation is the reasoning mechanism between information dependence and the perception of risks and benefits, ultimately determining PAs towards GM technology. Empirical results can serve as the basis for risk communication, suggesting that the public sector, scientific institutions, scientists, and officials must be more active in sharing scientific knowledge about GM technology with the public by developing more open channels for the dissemination of authoritative information, and public education is also needed. On the other hand, the medias’ discourse system on GM technology should return to the scientific field for inspiring a rational attitude towards GM technology.

Abstract Electrocaloric (EC) structures for a new generation of cooling or heating elements utilize the temperature dependence of spontaneous polarization in some ferroelectric materials to convert waste heat into electricity and vice versa. A (Pb0.93La0.07) (Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 material, have the largest recorded pyroelectric coefficient. An effective predicted form for such applications is fiber, due to small heat capacitance and quick response time, even for nano second laser excitation. Consequently, the presented work provides a description of the optimization of structural, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of obtained fibers, finally concluding on necessity of sintering temperature reduction in 100°C in contrast to bulk form to effectively prevent its destruction.

Abstract:
Path dependency in marketing systems occurs when what has happened at an earlier time affects the possible outcomes of a sequence of events occurring at a later point in time (Sewell 1996). Unlike the wider category of all social systems, in marketing systems path dependency is innate in the evolutionary dynamics underlying the formation and growth of a marketing system, beginning with the historical framing of choices made by all participants, generating, through self-organization and emergence, four complex social mechanisms - delivery systems, stakeholder action fields, technology evolution systems and value change fields. These complex social mechanisms interact over time generating marketing system outcomes that feedback continually into participant choices. The paper argues that all marketing systems, whether micro, meso or macro in scale and level, exhibit path dependence, and explores the implications of this finding. The paper identifies three ways of approaching path dependence in marketing systems - a narrative, partial and strong approach. It concludes that in a specific marketing systems setting all three approaches complement each other, the first establishing in narrative terms what happened, the second identifying the key path dependencies in a partial analysis, and finally, the third, drawing on a detailed or strong understanding of the causal dynamics at work to provide insights needed to extend theories of marketing system formation and growth and to provide the foundations for policy prescription. The occurrence of path dependency in all marketing systems and the complementary nature of the three distinctive approaches are the two major contributions of this paper.

Abstract:
After 50 years of nationhood, about 60 million Pakistani citizens still live in absolute poverty which is a condition so debasing that it robs the poor of the very potential of their genes. Illiteracy, malnutrition, high maternal, child and infant mortality afflict more than 50% of Pakistan’s population of 144 million. Due to mismanagement of its human and natural resources Pakistan is in a vicious cycle of economic dependence (Figures 2 & 3) with high indebtedness, low growth rates of exports and GDP and a decaying education system. During the last two decades Pakistan has engaged in firefighting through external debt re-schedulings and increasing its dependence on the Bretton Woods institutions (World Bank, International Monetary Fund) and their richer shareholders. As a result the important development needs of the nation’s human capital have been grossly neglected. It has failed to develop its human capital, particularly its domestic scientific and engineering communities and thus is not ready to meet the growth challenges of the 21st century. It is postulated that Pakistan must, on a crash basis, develop a domestic scientific and technology (S&T) community and create a scientific infrastructure if it seeks to become economically and politically self-reliant.
