Full textThis research aims to investigate, describe and analyze the impact of digital technologies on the forms of action in contemporary performing arts. We believe that digital technologies contribute to change the linear and frontal action, precipited from a human actor and characteristic of traditional art forms, giving rise to processes in which human and non-human elements interact in an ecosystemic and networked configuration. From a historical and theoretical path that seeks to reflect on the presence and the participation of the technology in the performing arts - from the Greek theater to our times -, we present the perspective of the networked action, by which we intend to analyze the contemporary scene as an ecology and to think the new ways in which the relations between artist, spectator and work of art are organized in the context of the digital technologies. How to analyze, for instance, a work in which actors, in different physical locations, perform only by an Internet connection? What is the nature of the relationship with the space in this works, especially when compared to those anchored in a physical space? Finally, we intend, therefore, to analyze how the digital communications are altering the forms of art in our time. To develop our reflection, the research presents an analysis of representative cases, with works of Catalan-Spanish group La Fura dels Baus, the French Collectif Iduun and the Brazilian Coletivo Phila 7, in order to realize a theoretical and practical connection between their works and some of the concepts which we discuss, as presence, time, space and performativity of the technology.

Esta tese tem por objetivo apresentar experimentos inauditos de transdução semiótica de noções da física contemporânea, especialmente daquelas provenientes das teorias holonômicas e fractais - tais como atemporalidade, acausalidade, imprevisibilidade, multidimensionalidade e outras - em processos artísticos performáticos envolvendo música, dança, teatro, vídeo etc. sustentados no uso, em graus variáveis, de novas tecnologias digitais de interação. Ela confirma a hipótese de que a ênfase em processos de tradução intersemiótica de nível de primeiridade e segundidade na realização desses experimentos reforça aspectos afetivos em sua percepção. Estruturada em três capítulos e um apêndice, o primeiro apresenta as motivações dessa pesquisa e aborda os referenciais teórico-metodológicos em áreas importantes para o trabalho artístico pragmático, tais como semiótica, estética, performance, física e novas tecnologias. O segundo capítulo apresenta e analisa aspectos relevantes de três experimentos performáticos holofractais desenvolvidos e apresentados em 2009, 2010 e 2011. Embora não haja a intenção de considerá-los representantes de qualquer tipo de progresso ou evolução, o leitor notará evidências de certo refinamento e aprimoramento na linguagem poética e na composição do sistema tecnológico. O terceiro capítulo traz reflexões estéticas sobre a poética holofractal, arriscando-se a apresentar um modelo que ilustra diagramaticamente o processo criativo abstraído da série de experimentos realizada ao longo da pesquisa, seguido de um resumo da pesquisa, a título de conclusão. Finaliza o trabalho um apêndice, de ordem mais técnica, onde o sistema tecnológico digital de transdução de som e imagem, desenvolvido para dar sustentação ao projeto, é descrito e oferecido (em código aberto, publicado na Internet) à comunidade como contrapartida à oportunidade de realizar essa pesquisa em uma universidade pública. _____________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This thesis aims to present some semiotic transduction experiments of contemporary notions of physics - especially those from the holonomic theory and fractals, such as atemporality, acausality, unpredictability, multidimensionality and others - into performatic artistic processes involving music, dance, theater, video, etc. based on the use, in varying degrees, of new digital interactive technologies. It confirms the hypothesis that the emphasis on firstnesses and secondnesses of intersemiotic translations in such experiments reinforces affective aspects in their perception. Divided into three chapters and one appendix, the first one presents the motivations of the research and discusses the theoretical and methodological rationales in important fields for the pragmatic artistic work, such as semiotics, aesthetics, performance art, physics and new technologies. The second chapter presents and analyzes relevant aspects of three holofractal performatic experiments developed and presented in 2009, 2010 and 2011. They are not intended to represent any kind of progress or evolution but, as it is noticeable, some refinements in language structuring and in the composition of the technological system are crystal clear. The third chapter contains aesthetic reflections on the holofractal poetics, daring to present a model that illustrates diagrammatically the creative process abstracted from the series of experiments conducted along the research, followed by a summary of the thesis, on the role of a conclusion. Finishing the work, an appendix chapter, more descriptive and technical in form, presents in detail the technological system where the digital image and sound transduction was developed to support the project. The “Holofractal Music and Image Transducer” system is described and offered (open source, published on the Internet) as retribution to the community that sponsored the opportunity to conduct this research in a public university.

Full textBrings up the performance designer\'s attitude, as an independent artist able to develop and materialize own narratives. An artist who moves through various languages areas, whose production places the design for Performance as the protagonist in the context of visual arts, performing arts and exhibition design. This research project aims to Identify and analyze the intersections, the practice In-between of distinct languages, in which the designer expresses artistically through the theatre design, art installation and exhibition design. Adopts the term \'performance design\' to redefining and to refer to the practice in different areas and the intersections, assigning forward the concept of \'performance design as experience\' to address the relationship and impact between performance design and the human being. Highlights the author\'s production of this thesis, her \'performance designs\' as objects of analysis, developed during the current period of this research project - from 2011 to 2015; complementing, punctually, with relevant productions from other authors, which collaborate for analysis of the topic. Recent curatorial projects that demonstrate relevance and influence on contemporary artistic practices in the field of performance design are also analysed, emphasising those approaching the theatricality of the practice of Performance within the gallery and the Museum, establishing distinct possibilities of perception and interactivity. Through the approach of the today curator\'s role, discusses his influence on the validation of artistic processes, therefore, the recognition of the work by performance designers as \'art\'. This thesis seeks to support thinking on how to bearing creative processes lined up with the aesthetic demands, language and tools of artistic production of the performance designers today. Especially on how to motivate the artist to trigger inspiring processes that can combat stagnation and repetition, transforming their practices and provoking a continuous development; also possibly pointing to relevant aspects of their training.

Full textThis work is a desk research and was elaborated in order to ascertain to what level is the process of indexing Social within the documentary film, specifically in the discursive construction developed by media around the movie Jogo de cena (Eduardo Coutinho, 2007). It was used the theoretical repertoire pertaining to Information Science to delineate differences between the concepts of indexing and Social Indexing in the field of Social Knowledge Organization and then was observed the direction of the Social Indexing in relation to the field of Documentary filmmaking. His corpus of analysis was based on the movie Jogo de cena, and articles written about the film from its release in 2007, as a method using Content Analysis and Analysis of Moving Images.
O presente trabalho é uma pesquisa documental e foi elaborado com o objetivo de verificar em que nível se dá o processo de Indexação Social no âmbito do cinema documentário, especificamente na construção discursiva elaborada pela mídia em torno do filme Jogo de cena (Eduardo Coutinho, 2007). Utilizou-se de repertório teórico pertencente à Ciência da Informação para delinear diferenças entre os conceitos de Indexação e Indexação Social no campo da Organização do Conhecimento para depois observar o sentido da Indexação Social em relação ao campo do cinema documentário. Seu corpus de análise se baseou no filme Jogo de cena e em artigos escritos sobre o filme a partir de seu lançamento no ano de 2007, utilizando como método a análise de conteúdo e a análise de imagens em movimento.

Full textWhich is the place of technologic images in the theatre today? What is changed due to inclusion of cinematographic, videographic and internet languages nowadays? Which contributions would be from these intersections between theatre, performance art, opera and dance when we use audiovideo languages? In this study, I wish to raise a reflection on those contributions, dividing into three pillars of analysis: The sums of the technologic images in relation to Space, on Time and then finally on the Body. Always using examples of the contemporary scene, but also using the pioneers in this activity, I will show how the electronic and digital resources like scenic powers today have changed the way of doing and seeing the theatre, and how they can engage with new ideas of spatiality, temporality and embodiment when they present effects of changing, poetry, memory and also presence. Using as examples of analysis also works that I developed as a director and art director / designer in the last four years, as well as examples of artists and national and international groups.The results may open perspectives for teachers of performing arts in general, as well as directors, designers, cinema\'s and video\'s professionals, artists from the media and others who investigate contemporary staging and its hybrid universe.

Neste trabalho elaboro uma análise crítico-reflexiva sobre o desenvolvimento do espaço cênico e da presença do ator e do espectador a partir da utilização das tecnologias da informação e comunicação. Adoto como eixo para a reflexão o pressuposto delimitador que ainda hoje é definidor de um evento teatral – a presença de pelo menos um ator e um espectador em um espaço determinado unidos por um acordo tácito. Com base nesse pressuposto relaciono ao longo do trabalho conceitos e definições referentes às tecnologias digitais da informação (realidade virtual, virtualidade, telepresença, ciberespaço) com os elementos do teatro e sua aplicabilidade na arte teatral. Analiso exemplos de propostas de espetáculos construídos sobre a perspectiva do teatro digital e midiático e por fim proponho duas características de um possível teatro digital.
In this paper I develops a critical and reflective analysis of the development of the scenic area and the presence of the actor and the spectator from the use of information and communication technologies. I adopt as an axis for reflection delimiter assumption that today is defining a theatrical event - the presence of at least one actor and spectator states in a given space unite by a tacit agreement. Based on that assumption I do a relation about concepts and definitions relative to digital information technologies (virtual reality, virtuality, telepresence and cyberspace) with the elements of theater and their applicability in theatrical art. I analyze examples of plays built on the perspective of digital and mediatic theater and finally i propose two characteristics of a possible digital theater.

This study deals with the establishment of representations about the teenager, turning to a field in which some of them have been produced in the early 2010s: Brazilian cinema. On to the thematic Media and Education, aiming to discuss how these representations are produced, it starts from the premise that this media vehicle is following the trend of placing the teenager in a position of centrality in contemporary culture, and simultaneously, has been promoting the pedagogical character assumed by media discourses about adolescence. The work uses the concepts of discourse, power, knowledge and subject, as were developed by Michel Foucault, putting him in conversation with theorists of cultural studies. The empirical corpus selected for analysis focuses on four films: The Famous and the Dead, Before the world ends, The best things in the world and Desenrola. Further information about these films circulating in cyberspace, in interactive processes that involve viewers in forms of subjection are considered for analysis. Its conclusion points with respect to the emphasis given to the teenager as also subject of privileged position in the age of the information.
Este estudo trata da constituição de representações sobre o estudante adolescente, voltando-se para um campo no qual algumas delas vem sendo produzidas no início da década de 2010: o cinema brasileiro. Ligado à temática Mídia e Educação, tem o objetivo de problematizar o modo como estas representações são produzidas, partindo da premissa de que este veículo midiático vem seguindo a tendência de colocar a juventude numa posição de centralidade na cultura contemporânea, e, simultaneamente, vem promovendo o caráter pedagógico assumido pelos discursos da mídia sobre a adolescência. O trabalho utiliza os conceitos de discurso, poder, saber e sujeito, conforme foram elaborados por Michel Foucault, colocando-o em conversação com teóricos dos estudos culturais. O corpus empírico selecionado para análise do discurso sobre o estudante adolescente concentra-se sobre quatro filmes: Os Famosos e os Duendes da Morte, Antes que o mundo acabe, As melhores coisas do mundo e Desenrola. São consideradas para análise, ainda, informações que circulam sobre estes filmes no ciberespaço, em processos de interatividade que envolvem os espectadores em formas de assujeitamento. Sua conclusão aponta para a ênfase dada ao adolescente também como sujeito de posição privilegiada na era da informação.

Full textThis research discusses the possibilities of playwright and presence that the new technologies of the Digital Age offer to the theatrical phenomenon, based on the observation and thinking of the creation process of the augmented theater performances developed by the theater company Os Satyros during 2014. Following the action research methodology proposed by Michel Thiollent, the empirical investigations resulted in the dramaturgy and mise-en-scène of the seven performances of the project \"And so was the Cyborg Mankind made in seven days\". From the bibliographic review based on theater thinkers such as Béatrice Picon-Vallin, Josette Féral, Silvia Fernandes, Marcelo Denny and Jeniffer Parker-Starbuck, as well as social scientists such as Slavoj ?i?ek, Jürgen Habermas, Zygmunt Bauman, Manuel Castells and Shanyang Zhao, a series of scenes and investigations made in the project are analysed. The research aims to contribute to the discussion of the potentialities of contemporary theater. It adresses stage arts graduation and post-graduation students, theater directors interested in stage technology and hybrid stage artists.

A cepa de levedura exerce um papel importante na qualidade final de um vinho, uma vez que é ela a responsável pela transformação do mosto em vinho. O Vale do Submédio São Francisco é uma das regiões mais promissoras na produção de vinho no Brasil, estando localizada nos estados da Bahia e Pernambuco. O uso de leveduras selecionadas é uma prática comum na região, porém, ainda é desconhecido se a região pode produzir vinhos por fermentação espontânea, através de leveduras selvagens, produzindo um produto com propriedades específicas que caracterize a região. Baseado nessas informações, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a influência da cepa de levedura nas características físico-química, voláteis, fenólicas e sensoriais dos vinhos da cv. Syrah cultivada nessa região. Foram elaborados 5 (cinco) vinhos tintos, 1 (um) conduzido por leveduras selvagens (LS) e os demais com cepas comerciais (A350®; A796®; MCRIO®; e MPDM®). A curva de fermentação alcoólica obtida a partir do vinho elaborado com leveduras selvagens apresentou fermentação alcoólica mais lenta quando comparada com as cepas de leveduras comerciais estudadas. A composição físico-química de todos os vinhos elaborados apresentaram valores dentro dos padrões estabelecidos pela legislação brasileira. Observando a composição volátil dos vinhos, constatou-se a grande influência da cepa de levedura na formação aromática dos vinhos. O vinho fermentado com leveduras selvagens se destacou entre os compostos aromáticos por apresentar a maior concentração de acetato de isoamila, acetato de feniletina, acetato de etila, ácido isobutírico e 2-metil-propanol, valores bem mais elevados do encontrado nas outras cepas. Na composição fenólica dos vinhos foi possível observar que a cepa LS se destacou apresentando, de uma maneira geral, maiores teores de fenólicos em seus vinhos com destaque para a delfinidina, a peonidina, a malvidina e a catequina. Apesar do fraco desempenho da cinética fermentativa, o uso de leveduras selvagens deve ser considerado quando se pensar em elaborar um vinho com características regionais.
Abstract : The yeast strain has an important role in the final quality of the wine, since it is responsible for transforming must into wine. The Lower-middle São Francisco Valley is one of the most promising regions in wine production in Brazil, being located in the states of Bahia and Pernambuco. The use of select yeast is a common practice in the region, however, it is still unknown if the region can produce wines by spontaneous fermentation, through wild yeast, producing a product with specific properties that characterize the region. Based on this information, this study aimed to evaluate the influence of yeast strain on the physicochemical, volatile, phenolic and sensory characteristics of the wines from cv. Syrah grown in this region. In order to conduct this study, 5 (five) red wines were elaborated, 1 (one) conducted by wild yeasts and the others with commercial strains (A350®; A796®; MCRIO®; and MPDM®). The curve obtained from the alcoholic fermentation of the wine made with the wild yeast showed a slower fermentation when compared with commercial yeast strains studied. The physicochemical composition of all wines elaborated presented values within the standards established by the Brazilian legislation. Observing the volatile composition of the wines, it was observed the great influence of yeast strain in the formation of aromatic wines. The wine fermented by wild yeast stood out among the aromatic compounds for presenting the highest concentration of isoamyl acetate, phenylethyl acetate, ethyl acetate, isobutyric acid and 2-methyl-propanol, values well above those found in other strains. In the phenolic composition of wines it was observed that the wild yeast strain stood presenting, in general, higher levels of phenolics in their wines, highlighting the delphinidin, peonidin to the catechin and malvidin. Despite the poor performance of the fermentation kinetics, the use of wild yeast should be considered when thinking about preparing a wine with regional characteristics.

Facing uncertainty, complexity and dynamics of environments where they are in, organizations aim to understand the impacts of occurring in the economy, society, politics and technology by external scanning and internalizing the effects of those changes. In the establishment of monitoring strategies also interferes cognitive nature factors that influence both the finding of the change and in order to internalize it. Thus, in order to contribute with studying of the internalization process of outward changes in organization, the current work began identifying the state of the art in monitoring, scenario scanning, simulation and subjectivity, then obtain the theoretical approach in which to propose a method of internalizing more dynamic and less subjective changes that used qualitative modeling in building scenarios with simulation, with support of software tool. Case study was the modality chosen to propose a method to support the internalization of external changes. The variables were extracted from the prospective study of Public Security of IPEA published in 2015, for generation of qualitative models and scenarios that were simulated. Data collection was conducted through questionnaire and workshop. As a result, the proposed method has shown useful for strategic management professionals (i) check consistency of scenarios and coherence of models of entity relationships; (ii) in presentation of alternative behaviors; (iii) in analysis of how cognitive biases interfere with the strategic reviews; (iv) and in organizational learning.

Destarte, a fim de contribuir com o estudo do processo de internaliza????o das mudan??as externas das organiza????es, o presente trabalho iniciou-se identificando o estado da arte de mecanismos de monitoramento, cenariza????o, simula????o e subjetividade, para, em seguida, buscar o arcabou??o te??rico necess??rio para propor um m??todo de internaliza????o de mudan??as mais din??mico e menos subjetivo que, por fim, utilizou modelagem qualitativa na constru????o de cen??rios e simula????o, com suporte de uma ferramenta de software. Estudo de caso foi a modalidade de pesquisa escolhida para propor um m??todo de apoio ?? internaliza????o de mudan??as externas. Full textThis research maps three social mobilizations that occurred between March 2018 and May 2019 in the Brazilian public sphere: (I) Atos por Marielle; (II) Movimento #EleNão; (III) Movimento 15M. In this period, it is possible to identify the rise of the neoconservative political wave to the higher post of the executive power in the country. Equally, there is a formation of a heterogeneous body of resistance to the advancement of conservatives, authoritarian and reactionary projects in local and global territories. In order to retain the intensities in the relationship of a set of objects that permeate categories such as art, power, subject, politics and aesthetics, we referenced, in this research, the concepts of cartography, dispositif and resistance from an indirect dialogue between the thoughts of Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, Achille Mbembe, Giorgio Agamben and Jacques Rancière. From this perspective, detailed analysis of three moments of resistance to the constituted power are produced. Finally, we discuss to what extent these actions produced dissent or not in this specific society.

Full textThe interest and curiosity in real time visualization technologies applied to audiovisual projects has been growing exponentially. This study aims to analyze the application of Unreal Engine® (Epic Games, Inc, North Carolina, EUA), a real time game engine, in the first steps of an audiovisual project and to address its applicability as an artistic and technical tool to facilitate the production methods used by creatives. This study comprises: i) revision of historical context on methods and Previsualization technologies; ii) development of Previsualization exercise approaching both traditional and virtual methodologies, using Unreal Engine, aiming to analyse and compare both practices during the different stages of a Previsualization process; iii) assessment of the potential advantages and disadvantages of of Unreal Engine application in Previsualization. From the analysis of the retrieved information and experience gained through the process of the proposed project´s development, it is concluded that the way Preproduction and Visualization are being approached is in fact rapidly changing. Real time technology is driving a new paradigm in audiovisual productions and Unreal Engine has become one of the most important elements in its development and implementation.

Full textSabe-se que as TIC’s na escola trazem desafios e problemas, cujas soluções vão depender das potencialidades de cada unidade de ensino, do trabalho pedagógico nela realizado, da formação continuada oferecida aos educadores, dos propósitos educacionais e das estratégias de aprendizagem colaborativa. O objetivo da pesquisa foi fazer uma investigação sobre as TIC’s na Educação de Jovens e Adultos. Partindo dessa questão analisou-se o uso das TIC’s como recurso pedagógico eficaz entre práticas pedagógicas e os princípios orientadores para população escolar tomando como principais referências - Tajra (2011); Valente (2011); Tornaghi et al (2010); Bastos et al. (2008); Pimentel (2012); Vygotsky (1984); Freire (1987); Moran (2000, 2011, 2012); Bazzo (2011), Libâneo (2010); Kenski (2003, 2008) e Almeida (2002, 2009), Prado & Almeida (2009), Pais (2010); UNESCO (2008), entre outros. Para isso foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa e quantitativa. Os instrumentos utilizados para coleta de dados constaram de: entrevista com um gestor e quatro professores e questionário aplicado a cento e vinte alunos do CEJA – Centro de Educação de Jovens e Adultos, do Ensino Fundamental II e Médio das salas presenciais e semipresencial. Observou-se a preocupação constante dos envolvidos na pesquisa no sentido de ampliarem a participação de todos no mundo digital com o intuito de melhorar o aprendizado dos alunos. Quanto aos já inseridos, nessas novas tecnologias educacionais, as práticas dos professores ainda são tímidas, decorrentes, muitas vezes da falta de domínio técnico-pedagógico e de investimentos necessários na área. Ao final da investigação, constatou-se que as TIC’s proporcionam a toda equipe escolar mudança na sua prática pedagógica, passando a atuar mais como orientador e facilitador na construção do conhecimento.
It is known that the ICT in school bring challenges and problems, whose solutions will depend on the potential of each teaching unit, the pedagogical work carried out on it, the continuing education offered to educators, educational purposes and collaborative learning strategies. The aim was to make a research on ICT’s in the Youth and Adult Education. From this question we analyzed the use of ICT as an effective educational resource between teaching practices and guiding principles for school children taking as main references – Tajra (2011); Valente (2011); Tornaghi et al. (2010); Bastos et al. (2008); Pimentel (2012); Vygotsky (1984); Freire (1987); Moran (2000, 2011, 2012); Bazzo (2011), Libâneo (2010); Kenski (2003, 2008) and Almeida (2002, 2009), Prado & Almeida (2009), Parents (2010); UNESCO (2008), among others. For this a qualitative and quantitative survey was conducted. The instruments used for data collection consisted of: interview with a manager and four teachers and questionnaire administered to one hundred and twenty students of CEJA – Youth and Adult Education Centre, Secondary School and Middle of the face and blended rooms. There was the constant concern of those involved in research in order to broaden the participation of all in the digital world in order to improve student learning. As to those already entered, these new educational technologies, teachers' practices are still timid, resulting often the lack of technical and pedagogical domain and necessary investments in the area. At the end of the investigation, it was found that the ICT's provide the entire school staff change in their teaching, starting to act more as a guide and facilitator in the construction of knowledge.

Full textThe main objective of this work is to propose a conservation and restoration intervention in a wax installation, Sem Título (2002), by Brígida Mendes, owned by Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Elvas (MACE). To develop the conservation plan, it was followed by a multidisciplinary methodology first directed to the documentation production. Starting in an almost empty scenario, the interviews with the artist and other participants provided a foundation to further the knowledge about the installation. The information collected in the interviews was complemented with analysis by optical microscopy (OM), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), Raman microspectroscopy (µ-Raman), and energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (µ-EDXRF) that allowed the characterization of the material. The evaluation of the state of preservation allowed us to conclude that the main problem to correct is the alteration of the shape. This deformity occurred when the work was exposed to an incorrect temperature in MACE, as well as the factors intrinsic to the production of the waxwork. The focus of this work is directed to the study of the recovery of the original form of the installation. It is relevant because this issue has not been much approached in the consulted bibliography, there was a lack of studies regarding the causes and strategies of conservation and restoration of this problem. Two approaches were considered to correct the alteration of the case study’s visible shape. One of them was the controlled heating of the wax to restore the original position, mentioned in an article by Chiara Gabbriellini. The other one is the production of replicas to substitute the work. There is also a focus on determining the cleaning treatment safe for the wax. At last, there were proposed preservation guidelines that included the correct packaging, the definition of environmental conditions, and guidelines for the reinstallation of the work.

Full textIn recent years, the development of technologies based on artificial intelligence has been evolving at an unprecedented pace. Some of these technologies are computer vision and Deep Learning, whose utilization has been extended to the most varied sectors, such as in industrial applications, in healthcare, safety, marketing and individual use applications. The main focus is on the optimization and automation of processes that would otherwise prove to be quite time consuming or even impossible to execute. With the objective of detecting and counting the number of individuals, as well as quantifying crowds in indoor and public spaces through video surveillance cameras, the present Dissertation, carried out in line with the Safe Cities project, - a partnership between Universidade do Porto and Bosch Security Systems, S.A. - proposes a solution that takes advantage of computer vision technologies and Deep Learning methods. The bibliographic review of the state of the art allowed to identify the main characteristics of object detectors by computer vision, further enhancing the choice of the pre-trained model YOLOv4, which was designed to perform generic object detection. This object detector stands out for its high inference speed, suitable for processing video streams in real time, and for its precision in object detection. In addition, the model is based on the use of a neural network to perform the extraction of various features in images or videos, and then performs the classification and detection of the objects present in these contents. The detections produced by the algorithm were filtered so that only pedestrian detections were returned, as well as their respective numerical count. The developed algorithm also implements an adjustable criterion by the user to determine from which level a crowd will be considered, since this parameter can vary depending on the angle, the installation position of the video surveillance camera and the scenario being monitored. In order to validate the developed algorithm, it was implemented directly in the counting and detection of people in sets of images (i.e., datasets), in video excerpts and by capturing video in real time through video surveillance cameras from Bosch, having a qualitative analysis of the algorithm performance been performed according to the variation of several parameters in the input data, such as brightness, image quality, color scheme, among others.

Full textA presente dissertação de mestrado, centra-se no desenvolvimento teórico de uma ideia de projecto de investigação, relacionada com o conceito de Ambiente Pessoal de Aprendizagem (APA) que em conexão com as tecnologias digitais, aplicadas nos contextos educativos actuais, providencia maiores possibilidades integração comunicacional e social, em crianças com deficiência visual. Grande ênfase de parte conceptual do estudo, assenta na ideia de Promoção de Espaços Inclusivos de Cooperação Comunicativa em Cegueira Infantil (PEICC-CI). Um dos objectivos do projecto, será o desenvolvimento de um espaço inclusivo de comunicação em rede que possa promover uma maior integração entre ensino formal e informal. Esta ideia de projecto, integra uma metodologia qualitativa e descritiva, a aplicar nas interacções sociais de um pequeno grupo de alunos participantes, que serão estudados de acordo com as suas capacidades comunicativas durante o plano de estudo. A ideia de projecto apresentada, tentará defender a importância de criação de sistemas tecnológicos mais inclusivos e dinâmicos, com base na aprendizagem informal - que possam proporcionar a crianças cegas, uma igual participação democrática de comunicação e convivência social em meios escolares, dentro das novas sociedades de conhecimento e informação.
This dissertation focuses on the developing of a theoretical idea based on a research project related to the concept of Personal Learning Environment (PLE) that in connection with digital technologies, applied in educational contexts today, provides greater integration possibilities and social communication in children with visual impairments. Great emphasis on the conceptual part of the study is based on the idea for the Promotion of Inclusive and Communicative Cooperation Spaces in Childhood Blindness (PICCS-CB). One of the objectives of the project is to develop an inclusive space communication network that can promote greater integration between formal and informal education. This project idea includes a qualitative and descriptive methodology to be applied in the social interactions of a small group of students participating, which will be studied according to their communication skills during the study plan. The project idea submitted, attempt to defend the importance of creating technological systems more inclusive and dynamic, based on informal learning models - that can provide the blind children, an equal participation of democratic communication and social interaction in school environments, within the new societies of knowledge and information.
