Abstract:
The main objective of the article was to present the possibilities and examples of using Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (by Siemens) to simulate the production and logistics processes. This tool allows to simulate discrete events and create digital models of logistic systems (e.g. production), optimize the operation of production plants, production lines, as well as individual logistics processes. The review of implementations of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation for modeling processes in production engineering and logistics was conducted and a few selected examples of simulations were presented. The author’s future studies are going to focus on simulation of production and logistic processes and their optimization with the use of genetic algorithms and artificial neural networks.

Simulation technologies are nowadays an integral tool for planning, implementation and operation of technical systems. Simulation is used where more straightforward methods no longer provide useful results. The simulation aims to arrive at objective decisions using dynamic analysis. This allows managers to plan specific processes at optimal cost. If real-world verification is too expensive and restrictive to perform experiments and time consuming, then modelling and a simulation is an excellent tool for analysing and optimising dynamic processes. The article deals with the importance of modelling and simulation in industrial practice, which is demonstrated in the text's case studies.

Industries in our community are under constant pressure and have high demands of customer orders for their products and there is the need to maximize the output for the same input of resources. In the case of lagging orders, it is very difficult for companies to manage and optimize the process flow for simultaneously coming orders. Process simulation can be suitably applied for studying and analyzing the system which can provide a framework for predicting and optimizing the process based on mathematical models. This work presents how to implement simulation tools in the real production planning so that an increase in the number of throughput in the time frame is achieved. The procedure starts with input data collection, data fitting, simulation model building, model validation, identification of the number throughput, and developed improvement system.

In this environment of increasing pressure for positive results, rationalization and improvement of domestic remedies, the computational tool Tecnomatix Plant Simulation 9.0, emerges as a way to achieve competitiveness in production. Underscoring that, the proposed study is of great relevance for professionals in the production management, which aim to minimize costs and outcomes to maximize profits.

This diploma thesis is based on creation of a simulation model of paint shop in the company ŠKODA AUTO a.s. The model was created in the simulation software Tecnomatix Plant Simulation. It is tested by simulation model whether the planned modifications in a buffer for sorting cars by their color would have positive effect on Perlenkette principle. The Perlenkette principle will help to stabilize supplier processes and reduction of running production times. Conclusions are deduced from carried out simulation experiments.
