Abstract:
The paper presents the results of an empirical study on the personality traits of sexually active teenagers. The research identified the personality traits of teenagers who are inclined to look for sexual relations. The research focused on the following: motivation and values, implicit representations about sexual contacts, parent-child relations, and self-concept. The study comprised 465 individuals including 405 school students aged 14-16 and 60 mothers of the teenagers examined. The results demonstrate that teenagers' refusal to begin sexual life, provided they have this opportunity (i.e. a partner), is linked to their subjective perception of the basic values reflected in their consciousness. The research also focused on the features of teenagers' implicit representations with regard to sexual intercourse. This allowed to identify the role of sexual intercourse in teenagers' life. The factors regulating sexual relations in the age under study have been revealed. The research shows that teenage sexual intercourse is mainly driven by cognitive motives combined with the hedonistic (boys) and communicational/social ones (girls). Emotionally distant parents are another factor triggering sexual relations. The negatively critical attitude to sexual partners was also displayed, especially by girls. The attitude was expressed by teenagers even where they initiated sexual intercourse themselves, without been pressured into it by their partners. The study has an applied character and enables effective preventive and corrective work with sexually active teenagers.

Abstract:
Abstract. Premarital sexual behavior is the behavior that is driven by sexual desire, both with the opposite sex or same sex without going through a legal marriage process according to law and religion. This study aims to describe premarital adolescent sexual behavior based on sex, age and education level. The design in this study is descriptive quantitative by collecting data from premarital sexual behavior scale (consisted of 11 items) compiled by Widowati (2009). The participants were 400 teenagers aged 17-24 years, currently or have been dating, unmarried, and domiciled at Kelapa Lima Sub District. Data analysis by kruskall-wallis test. The result showed that there are significant differences in premarital adolescent sexual behavior based on sex and age, but there is no significant difference in adolescent sexual behavior based on education level. The teenagers are expected to be able to maintain their behavior and filter information received from peers or the mass media.

Abstract:
Introduction The risks associated with teenage sex include pregnancy and a high rate of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Material and methods The study compared female teenagers: 32 with STDs and 90 with fungal skin infections who were treated in the City Center for Skin and Venereal Diseases in Belgrade from January 2000 to June 2001. An anonymous questionnaire was used to collect data and an univariate logistic regression analysis was performed. Results The mean age of participants was 18.2 years. About 40% of respondents reported to have their first sexual intercourse at the age of 14-16 years. The majority of cases and controls had one or two partners, but a greater percentage of cases had six or more partners compared to controls (12.5% vs. 3.3%). Adolescents with STDs frequently had sexual intercourse on the first date (p<0.05), and more frequently reported previous STDs in their personal history (p<0.05). Consistent use of condoms was less frequent among cases than among controls, both with steady (9.4% vs. 27.8%) and irregular partners (30.0% vs. 70.6%). The majority of teenagers (95%) thinks that sexual education at schools should be better. Discussion According to the results obtained, which are in agreement with literature data, teenagers should change their behavior, especially with respect to condom use both during vaginal and anal sex. Health education at schools could probably influence future sexual behavior, and counseling for STDs should be offered to all teenagers attending STD clinics. Conclusion The best way to avoid unwanted pregnancy and STDs is to delay the first sexual experience, reduce the number of sexual partners and increase the protection by condom use.

Abstract:
In dense and slum areas, parents often have to share bedroom with theirchildren, so the children have been exposed to sexual activity since early. This study aimed to determine residential density, parents’ sexual activity and its effects to teenage sexual behavior in Yogyakarta. This study used cross-sectional design by interviewing 268 families that had teenagers as selected randomly in urban slum areas and rural areas on March – May 2015. Data was analyzed using chi-square test and multivariate cox-regression. Results showed that parents living in dense residence had risk two times higher to commit sexual activity which had negative effect on their children. Parents’ sexual activity did not have any influence to risky sexual behavior among teenagers. Factors significantly related to risky sexual behavior among teenagers are male sex, negative attitude and influence of peers. Health agency and primary health care should improve counseling programs for teenagers and train peer counselors. Activities which have been conducted at schools should be expanded to risky areas, such as urban slum area with high density of residence. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kepadatan hunian, aktivitas seksual orangtua, dan efeknya terhadap perilaku seksual remaja di Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain potong lintang dengan mewawancarai 268 keluarga yang memiliki anak remaja yang dipilih secara acak di daerah kumuh perkotaan dan daerah pedesaan pada bulan Maret – Mei 2015. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji kai kuadrat dan regresi-cox multivariat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa orangtua yang tinggal di hunian padat memiliki risiko dua kali lebih besar untuk melakukan aktivitas seksual yang berdampak negatif bagi anaknya. Aktivitas seksual orangtua tidak berpengaruh terhadap perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja. Faktor yang berhubungan bermakna dengan perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja adalah jenis kelamin laki-laki, sikap negatif, dan pengaruh teman sebaya. Dinas kesehatan dan puskesmas agar terus meningkatkan program penyuluhan remaja dan melatih konselor teman sebaya. Kegiatan yang selama ini telah dilakukan di sekolah sebaiknya diperluas pada daerah berisiko seperti daerah kumuh perkotaan dengan kepadatan hunian yang tinggi.

Abstract:
The condition of family life whereby there is divorce or separation will either mentally or psychologically affect children in the family that becomes more obvious as the children grow up. Moreover, when there are other factors that support the behavior. To identify association between sexual behavior of senior high school teenagers and marital status of parents at Mataram Municipality Nusa. Data analysis used chi square (χ²) and logistic regression at confidence interval 95%. Result: Marital status of parents was significantly associated with sexual behavior of teenagers with p-value 0.0001 and PR 2.03 (CI 95% 1.65-2.50). The result of bivariate analysis showed significant association between variable of peers’ influence with p value 0.0001 and PR 2.40 (CI95% 1.90-3.04) and variable of mass media exposure with p-value 0.0001 and PR 3.92 (CI 95% 2.42-6.36) and sexual behavior of teenagers. The result of logistic regression analysis showed marital status of divorced parents had the probability of increasing sexual behavior of teenagers as much as 19% after being controlled by variables of peers’ influence and mass media exposure. Conclusion: Marital status of parents was associated with sexual behavior of teenagers. Teenagers whose parents were divorced had the probability for higher sexual behavior than those whose parents were not divorced.

OBJECTIVE: to test a theoretical model based on the Parent-Based Expansion of the Theory of Planned Behavior examining relation between selected parental, teenager and cultural variables and Latino teenagers' intentions to engage in sexual behavior.METHOD: a cross-sectional correlational design based on a secondary data analysis of 130 Latino parent and teenager dyads.RESULTS: regression and path analysis procedures were used to test seven hypotheses and the results demonstrated partial support for the model. Parent familism and knowledge about sex were significantly associated with parents' attitudes toward sexual communication with their teenagers. Parent Latino acculturation was negatively associated with parents' self-efficacy toward sexual communication with their teenagers and positevely associated with parents' subjective norms toward sexual communication with their teenagers. Teenager knowledge about sex was significantly associated with higher levels of teenagers' attitudes and subjective norms about sexual communication with parents. Only the predictor of teenagers' attitudes toward having sex in the next 3 months was significantly associated with teenagers' intentions to have sex in the next 3 months.CONCLUSION: the results of this study provide important information to guide future research that can inform development of interventions to prevent risky teenager sexual behavior among Latinos.

This work is a continuation of the article on risky sexual behavior among young people. In this part, based on a review of various studies, as well as the results of their own surveys of students of schools, colleges and universities, such forms of sexually dangerous behavior as promiscuity, sexual intercourse with alcohol and drug use, child-teen prostitution are considered. It is revealed that different forms of deviant behavior and sexually dangerous behavior very often accompany each other. Teenagers having one type of problem behavior, are likely to have the others. Alcohol and drug use is a central element of risky behavior among adolescents and young people. In particular, the relationship between substance use and sexual behavior has been identified. The influence of the Internet on sexual behavior of teenagers is considered, modern types of virtual sexual activity of teenagers on the Internet and the associated risks are analyzed risks are analyzed.

The progress of the application of internet media technology among teenagers makes teenagers spend a lot of time useless, so that few teenagers have experience changes in communication, ethics, and behavior, even increasing sexual deviance behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of internet media on sexual deviance behavior in adolescents of SMP Negeri 4 Tebing Tinggi in 2019. This type of research uses a cross-sectional method. The population in this study was 90 students. The results show that there is an influence on the frequency of internet media usage on adolescent sexual deviation behavior. There is an effect of the duration of internet media usage on adolescent sexual deviation behavior. There is the influence of internet media access used on adolescent sexual deviation behavior, and the variable that most influences the behavior of adolescent sexual deviation is the variable frequency of using internet media with prevalency ratio 3.501. It expected that adolescents do not use the facilities and internet media their have for pornography. Besides, teenagers should be positive things in their spare time, such as taking school extracurricular activities, exercising, or did good hobbies to avoid deviant behavior.

Abstract:
This study aims at describing premarital sex behavior as well as to analyze peers impact on premarital sexual behavior of teenagers. The study was conducted in Bali, Indonesia. This is an analytic observational research that applied cross-sectional approach. The subject was 566 teenagers who were studying at Senior High Schools in Buleleng, Bali. Data was collected using a questionnaire. We examined the validity and reliability of the data before analyzed it. We also collected data through interviews. After being analyzed by logistic regression analysis, the data shows that 47% of teenagers have never watched porn, 35.9% of teenagers have never conducted kissing activity (with their partner), 24.7% of teenagers have never conducted sexuality rub toward their sexual organs, 22.8% of teenagers have ever masturbated, and 13.1% of teenagers have never experienced sexual intercourse. Teenagers who have got the correct information from peers are possible to have better premarital sex behaviors, 2 times greater than those who have not got correct information (OR = 2; p = 0.003). It is also found that teenagers who have got a good emotional relationship with peers are more possible to have better premarital sex behavior life, 3 times greater, than teenagers who have got a less emotional relationship with peers (OR = 3; p = 0.000). It is concluded that, statistically, there is significant influence between peers and premarital sex behaviors of teenagers in Indonesia.

Despite the rapid increase of HIV infections among South Africa's adolescent population, many teenagers continue to partake in sexually risky behaviours. The theory of planned action accounts for the low correlation between information and behaviour by identifying the strong influence of behavioural intentions, attitudes towards the behaviour, subjective norms, and perceived control in determining behaviour change. This research primarily aimed to assess the levels of sexual risk-taking behaviours, HIV-related knowledge, beliefs, and religiosity of private school adolescents, as well as to determine the nature of the relationships between these variables.

Abstract:
Much published work has pointed to the need for the development of a sound operational definition of sexual orientation in order to enable the research in this area to progress. To contribute to this process the current research set out to develop two measures of sexual orientation and examine their psychometric properties. In order to develop relevant tools historical, conceptual and operational definitions of sexual orientation were critically examined and standard questionnaire development techniques applied. The first scale consisted of 32 items and was administered to a total of 835 adolescents, comprising three sub-groups (189 Grade 11 Scholars, 547 First Year and 99 Third Year Psychology Students). A Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.85 was calculated indicating that this instrument had very good internal consistency reliability. Similar factors emerged in each of the sample sub-groups when factor analyses were performed suggesting that this instrument has good external and construct validities. These factors each had respectable Cronbach alpha coefficients indicating their own internal consistency. The four factors which consistently emerged were Same Sex Responsiveness, Opposite Sex Responsiveness, Previous Month’s Same Sex Responsiveness and Previous Month’s Opposite Sex Responsiveness. The second scale consisted of 16 items and was administered to 646 adolescents, comprising the latter two sub-groups referred to above. A Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.82 was calculated indicating that this instrument also had very good internal consistency reliability. Once again similar factors with generally good internal consistency emerged in factor analysis suggesting that this too was a valid instrument. The factors that emerged from the second scale were Same Sex Responsiveness, Unattractive Opposite Sex Responsiveness, Attractive Opposite Sex Responsiveness and Attraction. Future developments, adjustments and applications of the instruments as well as implications for the arena of sexual orientation research are discussed. In the light of the dearth of information with regard to the sexual orientations of South African adolescents the current study also briefly explored and presented the sample’s responses in terms of the dimensions of each questionnaire as well as how each emerging factor related to the demographics (education level, gender, sexual orientation self-label and age) of the sample.

The purpose of the study was to find the relationship between adolescent premarital sexual activity and involvement in the family, school, and church. The sample was composed of 192 adolescents. The data were analyzed for significant relationships by using chi square test of independence. The study found that there were significant relationships between adolescent premarital sexual activity and family structure, family mobility, parental employment, grade level achievement, and parental attendance at school functions. Since the findings of a study of this nature are pertinent to society, further research needs to be done using a more heterogeneous sample and a more refined, limited instrument. The instrument should be further tested for reliability and validity.

Abstract:
This chapter present ways parents can communicate about risk-taking behaviors. Underage drinking and the increased use of marijuana and e-cigarettes are identified as dangers. The marketing of e-cigarettes to young people and the legalization of marijuana present challenges. The current substances available to students are detailed. Parent–student communication continues to be important for students leaving home and creating patterns of their own. Parents’ values and behavior are predictors of teens’ use of substances. There is an association between underage drinking and chronic marijuana use and depression. Teenagers who are sensation-seeking present a difficult challenge for parents. Also important are conversations about respect and safety in sexual relationships. Parental monitoring, limit-setting, and ongoing communication can help prevent risk-taking behaviors. The need for students to develop refusal skills and the importance of establishing house rules and consequences are described.

Abstract:
Once a young person experiences coitus, she or he acquires “risk status.” Unquestionably, young people who are not sexually active are not at risk of pregnancy, unless they are forced to have sex (which is not a rare event). However, once the decision is made to initiate sexual activity, risk of pregnancy is high for those who do not use contraception consistently. And since no contraception is 100 percent effective, an unplanned pregnancy may occur. Once pregnant, a young woman must decide whether to carry the pregnancy to term. She may decide to have an abortion, if that option is available to her. If a child is born, the mother may decide to give the child up for adoption. While this series of decisions seems relatively straightforward, there is little consensus in our society about how to intervene at any point along the way and prevent the negative consequences. Differing perceptions of the problem shape the range of solutions. One set of conflicts centers on the morality of premarital sex. Some people believe that the only response to the issue of adolescent pregnancy is to promote abstention. Others believe that premarital sexual activity has become a normative behavior and, therefore, interventions should focus on teaching responsible sexual behavior and providing access to contraception. A second set of conflicts is focused on the abortion issue. Once pregnant, should a girl be required to maintain the pregnancy and encouraged to put the baby up for adoption if she cannot care for it, or should she be assisted to obtain an abortion if that is what she wants? We can turn to many sources of data to gain insights into these questions. The problem of adolescent pregnancy has received a great deal of attention over the past decade and numerous studies have been produced from which we can learn about the antecedents, prevalence, and consequences of early sexual activity, contraceptive use, and pregnancy among teenagers.

Background: Teenagers aged 15-19 encounter a disproportionate burden of adverse sexual and reproductive health outcomes, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The urgent ongoing efforts are needed to lead healthy, safe, and productive lives of teenage girls. This scoping review aimed to identify the association of early menarche with negative sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Subjects and Method: A scoping review method was conducted in eight stages including (1) Identification of study problems; (2) Determining priority problem and study question; (3) Determining framework; (4) Literature searching; (5) Article selection; (6) Critical appraisal; (7) Data extraction; and (8) Mapping. The search included PubMed, EBSCO, and Wiley databases. The keywords were “effect” OR “outcomes” AND “menarche” OR “menstruation” OR “menstrua” OR “menses” OR “early menarche” AND “reproductive health” OR “sexual reproducti” AND “sexual behavior” OR “sexual debut” OR “sexual partners” OR “unsafe sex” OR “unprotected sex”. The inclusion criteria were English-language and full-text articles published between 2009 and 2019. A total of 116 full text articles was obtained. After the review process, nine articles were eligible. The data were reported by the PRISMA flow chart. Results: Four articles from developing countries (Nigeria, Malawi, Philippine) and five articles from developed countries (France, United States of America, England, Australia) met the inclusion criteria with cross-sectional and cohort design studies. The existing literature showed that early menarche was associated with sexual and reproductive health (early sexual initiation, low use of contraception), sexually transmitted diseases (genital herpes, HIV), and other factors (income, education level, sexual desire). Conclusion: Early age at menarche may contribute to the increase vulnerability of girls into negative sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Quality comprehensive sexual education may improve the sexual and reproductive health and well-being of adolescents.
