Abstract:
This master’s thesis is written in collaboration with Village Telco. VillageTelco is a grass root solution for establishing communication whereno other can or are willing to do so. The business has developed theMeshPotato, a wireless access point, which uses standard Wi-Fi technologycombined with open-source telephony software and a state of the artmesh protocol, to provide low-cost telephony. Today, Village Telco serveas a hardware provider. The master’s thesis provides a background studyof Village Telco, the technology that Village Telco uses and some of theVillage Telco networks that exist in the world today. An Excel model forcalculating threshold values for sustainable businesses have been made,and a new business model for Village Telco is proposed. The aim for thenew business model is that Village Telco can serve as a service providerin addition to selling hardware.The main methods used for this thesis are Skype meetings with peoplein the Village Telco community, literature study, case studies of existingbusiness models and mathematical calculations. For the case studies, andthe proposal of the new business model, Osterwalder’s business modelcanvas have been used as a tool.The Excel model that has been made can be a helpful basis for a morecomplex service for the local entrepreneurs in the future. The studies ofother business models shows that customer relationships and partneringwith other telcos are the two most important aspects to consider forVillage Telco as a service provider. Other factors are optional, and thereare many possible combinations of solutions for how Village Telco canserve as service provider and which services they may provide.

Diploma thesis is concerning the PR communication of Samsung's Telephone division in the Czech Republic. The target of the diploma thesis is to identify key PR tools used in practice by Telephone division of Samsung, analysis and evaluation of those tools together with recommendation of future development for further improvement of the communication quality. The theoretical part includes: introduction into PR, description of strategic PR process, characteristics of PR tools and list of PR advantages and disadvantages. The introduction of Samsung Electronics and its representant on the Czech market - Samsung Electronics Czech and Slovak, s.r.o. is part of the practical section of the diploma thesis. There is also paid attention to characteristics of the Czech market with mobile phones, analysis of PR tools used by Telephone division and on the basis of obtained knowledge are suggested opportunities how to improve quality of PR communication.

Abstract:
Software-De_ned Networking (SDN) proposes a new network architecture inwhich the control plane and forwarding plane are decoupled. SDN can improvenetwork e_ciency and ease of management through the centralization of the controland policy decisions. However, SDN deployments are currently limited todata-center and experimental environments. This thesis surveys the deploymentof SDN from the perspective of a telecommunication network operator. We discussthe strategies which enable the operator to migrate to a network in whichboth SDN and legacy devices interoperate. As a synthesis of existing technologiesand protocols, we formulate an automated process for the bootstrapping of newlydeployed forwarding devices. Furthermore, we review solutions for programmingthe forwarding devices and for performing topology discovery. The functionalcorrectness of the proposed bootstrapping process is evaluated in an emulatedenvironment.

The telecom industry is moving from a stable environment to a very dynamic industry where the entrance of new players and the macro economic factors like crisis have been pushing it towards commoditization. In spite of the fact that the Telco consumer base is increasing the value generation capability of this industry has been challenged in the past years. The management is well aware of the situation but due to the traditionally monopolistic nature of these organizations finds it difficult to push any radical change. The purpose of the study is to identifying those factors which contributed to the success of these firms in past and later identifying those elements which are needed for these organizations to foster an innovative culture capable of bringing the needed changes. The major objectives of the research include identifying the main reason behind the need for innovation today and factors that have been hindering the innovation process in these firms. The next step was to study the best practices outside the Telcos industry which have helped other firms to be the Innovation leaders. Finally the study identifies those strategies and best practices which are viable in the Telecom industry. It has been found that the size and political nature of these organizations makes it difficult to push ideas to reality. Therefore the first need is the need of a culture change and a separate path (apart from the traditional line management) for the escalation of ideas. Secondly the Telco industry is not able to keep pace with the innovation of its complementing industries and therefore there is a dire need make innovation a priority from exploring new revenue sources to the innovation of business models with its existing partners. In the past the industry has tried the industrial silos model by decentralizing and given complete autonomy to its major revenue generating services but now it needs to demolish these departmental silos and be open to provide services which cut across many of its existing services without thinking too much about cannibalization.

Abstract:
Today Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is one of the fields in telecommunications that is developing and growing at the fastest pace as a fundamental element in the Telco equipment marketplace. Network Functions that have traditionally been deployed over proprietary hardware now are remarkably decoupling of that, taking the functions and moving them into the software and putting them into the common hardware. There are a lot of elements which are moving to software such as IMS, Mobile Core, PE Router, etc. IMS is just one of them, and even within IMS architecture there are significant elements include the CSCF, the HSS, the SBC, the MRF, voice application servers which are starting to move to NFV and each of these elements considered to be a virtual network function (VNF). Migration to the virtual IMS bring the operators the benefits of lower cost regarding CAPEX, fast scaling services, introducing fast new network services, reducing complexity, operational efficiency, etc. In the future, testing network elements will be more necessary since the aim is to implement as software as an on-demand service similar in networks for some aspects such as protocol compliance performance. Moreover, load balancing can join with Software Defined Networking (SDN) to bring the possibility to vary routing of the packets in an NFV enabled network, but routing is not mandatory to be by the software. This dissertation presents the testing on the general NFV and, particularly it study the testing on a network element of virtualized IMS that is Call Session Control Function (CSCF).

Teoretická část definuje termíny, jakými jsou například balanced scorecard, human resource scorecard a benchmarking. Dále popisuje jednotlivé ukazatele a jejich vzorce. Praktická část uvádí výpočty ukazatelů za čtvrtletí let 2008 a 2009, jejich zhodnocení, vývoj a interní benchmarking a navrhuje řešení na zlepšení procesů v dané oblasti.

Abstract:
Over the last ten years, the demand for data has been increasing exponentially. To meet this demand, there are three ways to proceed: increasing the number of antennas, enhancing spectrum efficiency, enlarging bandwidths. This paper is focused on the last option, enlarging the bandwidth, and more precisely on the reuse or secondary use of frequencies through Licensed Shared Access and TV white spaces. This work aims at determining the potential development of these two new regulatory regimes and the potential impact on the telecom ecosystem and business.There is a common understanding of TVWS and regulators are implementing similar frameworks. The industry and regulators have launched plenty of trials and developed many standards. There are even some examples of commercial releases. However, the amount of channels available for TVWS activities is still uncertain since regulators have not stated their positions on the balancing between TVWS and digital dividend (refarming). Their decision will influence the market size and consequently the market take-up.Similarly to TVWS, national and international coherent regulatory frameworks are being developed around LSA. There is also a common view on uses among actors. Indoor coverage is one of the most mentioned uses. This will enhance the actors’ confidence in LSA, and might consequently increase investment. However, standardization is needed to bring the necessary economies of scale. The incumbents’ willingness to share their spectrums and the fees level are still unclear. These last parameters will have large impact on LSA take-up.The second part of the thesis tries to determine what ecosystems might develop. With TVWS, there are no licence fees or coverage requirements included in licence, which lowers the entrance barriers. This paper presents strategies where other players than MNOs provide connectivity. These strategies, which were built through group exercises done by Telecom workers, bring opportunities to these new connectivity providers and also values for its potential clients. Moreover, these new connectivity provider strategies possess real strengths and only limited weaknesses. However, the MNOs’ reluctance to support this new ecosystem is the most dangerous threat to its development.To a slightly lesser extent, LSA also lowers the entrance barriers into the connectivity-providing business. This is a game-changer for indoor coverage since LSA might enable the development of scenarios and ecosystems which were previously considered as hypothetical. Thus, scenario where a Managed Service Providers or a Network Equipment Providers offers connectivity (without MNOs) to a premise or a MVNO has the potential to take up. This strategy is valuable for connectivity providers and their clients. Here, financing this strategy is also a challenge, but the most important risk might arise from the MNOs’ pressures on the ecosystem’s actors to prevent this strategy from developing.

In a growing digital economy, where demands for network services and competition from various communication-over-the-network service providers intensify, telecommunication companies need to keep up in an ever-changing environment. As there is a need to reduce time-to-market for new network services, agility becomes restrained by having to operate within large legacy IT infrastructure environments. While agile methodologies in modern time have attained recognition in the field of software development for the way they help to manage changing customer demands and deliver early value incontinuous increments, it is yet uncertain how agile methodologies can best be adopted for IT infrastructure deliveries to achieve the same purpose. Hence, this study explores how legacy IT infrastructure can be transformed in an agile way into modernized infrastructure landscapes supporting the business with fast enough development, release and deployment of new network services in demand. More precisely, the study investigates how larger IT infrastructure transformation projects can be executed by the help of agile practices. In order to investigate this, the study carries out a case study at Telia Company, a large Nordic incumbent telecommunications company possessing a big legacy of IT infrastructure. The study conducts internal interviews with Telia employees as well as external interviews with agile experts. Also, benchmarking is conducted with a well-established Swedish bank to better understand the challenges and how agile practices can best be applied.The study concludes that agile practices influenced by agile frameworks Scrum and Kanban can advantageously be applied at team level for more agile execution. However, the surrounding organizational business landscape greatly sets the limits for agile deliveries, due to dependencies on cooperation from the business side in the execution phase and the need to be aligned with business needs and stakeholder requirements. Further, the study also shows that the application of agile practices at team level in combination with a close dialogue with stakeholders and a scaled agile approach requiring investing in automation, is the key for more agile infrastructure deliveries. In this way, aligned end-to-end delivery processescan be better developed and infrastructure needs better understood and implemented at the right time. As a contribution, the study proposes a model with inspiration from agile frameworks Scrum, Kanban and SAFe, for how this may work in practice.
I en växande digital ekonomi, kännetecknad av intensifierad efterfrågan på nätverkstjänster och konkurrens från diverse aktörer som erbjuder kommunikationstjänster över nätverket, behöver telekommunikationsföretag hålla uppe takten i den snabbföränderliga omgivningen. Samtidigt som det finns behov av att minska tid till marknad för nätverkstjänster, blir snabbheten återhållsam på grund av att man måste jobba i miljöer med stora IT infrastrukturs-arv. Agila metoder har i modern tid blivit erkända inom mjukvaruutveckling för hur de hjälper att hantera föränderliga kundbehov och kontinuerligt leverera tidigt värde inkrementellt. Dock råder det fortfarande ovisshet kring hur agila metoder kan tillämpas bäst inom IT infrastrukturs-leveranser för att uppnå samma ändamål. Följaktligen utforskar denna studie hur IT infrastrukturs-arv agilt kan bli transformerade till moderniserade infrastrukturs-landskap som stödjer verksamheten med tillräckligtsnabb utveckling, lansering och spridning av efterfrågade nätverkstjänster. Mer exakt undersökerstudien hur större IT infrastrukturs-projekt kan bli genomförda med hjälp av agila arbetssätt efter en initial projektplanering. För att undersöka detta genomförs en fallstudie på Telia Company, som är ett etablerat nordiskt telekommunikationsföretag och som har ett stort arv av IT-infrastruktur. Studien inkluderar interna intervjuer med Telia anställda såväl som externa intervjuer med agila experter. Även en benchmarkundersökning med en väletablerad svensk bank utförs för att bättre förstå utmaningarna och hur agila arbetssätt kan bli tillämpade på bästa sätt. Studien drar slutsatsen att agila arbetssätt med influens av de agila ramverken Scrum och Kanbanmed fördel kan bli tillämpade på team-nivå för mer agila verkställanden. Dock begränsas agila leveranser till stor del av det omgivande verksamhetslandskapet. Detta på grund av beroenden av samarbeten från verksamheten i olika utförande-moment och behovet av att vara sammanvävd med verksamhetsbehov och intressentkrav i leveranserna. Sammanfattningsvis menar studien att tillämpningen av agila arbetssätt på team-nivå i kombination med en nära dialog med intressenter samt ett initiativ för att skala agilt, är nyckeln för mer agila infrastrukturs-leveranser. För att uppnå detta, krävs även investering inom automation. På så vis kan end-to-end-strukturerade leveransprocesser bli bättre utvecklade och infrastrukturs-behov bättre förstådda och implementerade i rätt tid. Som ett bidrag föreslår studien en modell för hur detta kan fungera i praktiken, med inspiration från de agila ramverken Scrum, Kanban och SAFe.

The telecommunications industry is going through a difficult phase because of profound technological changes, mainly originated by the development of the Internet. They have a major impact on the telecommunications industry as a whole and, consequently, the future deployment of new networks, platforms and services. The evolution of the Internet has a particularly strong impact on telecommunications operators (Telcos). In fact, the telecommunications industry is on the verge of major changes due to many factors, such as the gradual commoditization of connectivity, the dominance of web services companies (Webcos), the growing importance of software based solutions that introduce flexibility (compared to static system of telecom operators). This thesis develops, proposes and compares plausible future scenarios based on future solutions and approaches that will be technologically feasible and viable. Identified scenarios cover a wide range of possibilities: 1) Traditional Telco; 2) Telco as Bit Carrier; 3) Telco as Platform Provider; 4) Telco as Service Provider; 5) Telco Disappearance. Le secteur des télécommunications passe par une phase délicate en raison de profondes mutations technologiques, principalement motivées par le développement de l'Internet. Elles ont un impact majeur sur l'industrie des télécommunications dans son ensemble et, par conséquent, sur les futurs déploiements des nouveaux réseaux, plateformes et services. L'évolution de l'Internet a un impact particulièrement fort sur les opérateurs des télécommunications (Telcos). En fait, l'industrie des télécommunications est à la veille de changements majeurs en raison de nombreux facteurs, comme par exemple la banalisation progressive de la connectivité, la domination dans le domaine des services de sociétés du web (Webcos), l'importance croissante de solutions à base de logiciels et la flexibilité qu'elles introduisent (par rapport au système statique des opérateurs télécoms). Cette thèse élabore, propose et compare les scénarios possibles basés sur des solutions et des approches qui sont technologiquement viables. Les scénarios identifiés couvrent un large éventail de possibilités: 1) Telco traditionnel; 2) Telco transporteur de Bits; 3) Telco facilitateur de Plateforme; 4) Telco fournisseur de services; 5) Disparition des Telco. The following thesis aims to describe the transformation of telco operators' business strategy evoked by the growing popularity and usage of Internet services like WhatsApp, Skype and Netflix, also known as over-the-top services. The thesis provides comprehensive overview of transformations in the telecom industry that have been taking place globally, explaining the drivers that led to inception of free or cheaper Internet-based services, their business models. It then narrows down to the thorough analysis of the Czech market, capturing the implications that over-the-top services have on business strategy of the major Czech telco players. The analysis is strongly supported by industry reports, statistics and quantitative research. The primary research adds in telco customers' perspectives, usage and value perception of over-the-top services, as well as their satisfaction with respective telco services and their pricing. Derived findings identify major developments and trends in the Czech telco market; they also suggest compelling observations for related businesses.

In questa tesi viene descritto lo sviluppo, la realizzazione, le funzionalità e l’implementazione di uno strumento chiamato Enterprise Provisioning Tool (EPT) fornito da Accenture ad un suo cliente Telco. Questo nuovo strumento ha permesso ad un suo cliente Telco di realizzare dei processi di provisioning (processo di configurazione, implementazione e gestione di una rete per consentire la fornitura di nuovi servizi ai propri utenti) in maniera efficiente e veloce per l’erogazione di particolari servizi detti non standard. Precedentemente all’introduzione del Tool, infatti, la fornitura di tali servizi poteva avvenire tramite un approccio completamente automatizzato oppure completamente manuale. Il primo richiedeva un elevato Time To Market (TTM) dovuto alla necessità di introdurre questi nuovi servizi richiesti in aggiunta a quelli standard già provisionati tramite la catena di fornitura automatizzata. Il secondo oltre a prevedere l’esecuzione di tutte le attività in modo manuale, rendeva particolarmente complessa l’attività di tracciamento e monitoraggio del processo. Il nuovo Tool adotta infatti un approccio “ibrido”, che ha permesso lo sviluppo di nuove funzionalità come ad esempio: la creazione di processi altamente personalizzati, la configurazione in rete in modo flessibile oltre che un ottimo monitoraggio e gestione delle attività. Tutto ciò lo rende uno strumento agile e unico nel suo genere, in grado di apportare alla Telco un vantaggio competitivo rispetto ai suoi competitor.

The avalanche of new services available on platforms that enable voice-over-data technologies such as Internet TV, streaming technology videos and WhatsApp communication have become part of consumers' daily lives, which overwhelm telecommunications and wireless carriers Competitiveness in the market. The scenario refers to a necessary change of behavior in the sector, parallel to an essential revision of the existing regulation. This study analyzes the impacts of the regulated telecommunications market in the process of convergence with the IT industry, where regulation has a dual influence on the industry: ensuring order in telecommunication services and, on the other hand, an offensive risk of disadvantage in the Competitiveness and restraint of innovation in a digital economy. Based on the contributions of the VBM and VBR theories, an exploratory research was developed, carried out through a single case study and bibliographic review, under the lens of the regulatory impacts on competitiveness. Data were collected through semi-structured interview of the strategic body of a telecom operator, being treated in a qualitative way. The analysis pointed to a finding: regulation as a strong influencer in strategic positioning can be harmful to the competitiveness and deflagration of the industry when it can not keep up with the evolution and dynamism of the sector. With this, the operator under study proposes a new business model based on a strategy of aggregation of IT services over telecom, indicating an alternative to innovate within a regulated market. It is understood that an operator model, lighter, agile and digital, is necessary in the consolidation of a "Telco Digital". It is hoped, with the strategy outlined, to successfully face the process of transformation of the industry and to maintain in the market a viable and sustainable model of operator in the digital economy.

Current innovation literature stress the fact that companies seeking to boost their innovation capabilities should open their boundaries and collaborate with partners for bolder and faster value creation. While correct, and in fact frequently practice among several industries, many companies have failed in their attempt to innovate on ecosystem’s settings due mainly to lack of the appropriate management methodologies. Although co-development alliances have become a common practice in the market place, tools and strategies to manage them are quite behind on real execution. Furthermore, companies currently involved in such scenarios have overlook the new conditions of co-creation, failing to yield return over the cost of capital, and losing credibility on their ecosystems. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify practical managerial strategies, process and tools for orchestrating innovation ecosystems in general, and tailored them into real company current practices, in particular. In this thesis, a theoretical revision has been carried out in order to understand what innovation ecosystems are, why companies involved in innovation should care about them and what are the essential elements for orchestrating projects breed in that setting, being successful at it. Furthermore, a case study was developed with the purpose of connecting empirical findings to theoretical suggestions, and draw conclusions and recommendations. The company chosen for the analysis is one of the larger international players in their industry; having strong motivations to grow their innovation field, clear objectives to do it on partnership basis, and unquestionable position to claim the role of orchestrator. Moreover, management at this company believed that their innovation partnerships are not fulfilling expectations, and wanted to know how they can improve the way those projects are being managed, while keeping the center of the innovation ecosystem. The results show the process to create an orchestration strategy model, and a final proposal for the company under analysis. The case was developed taking into consideration information provided by key processes stakeholders over a series of interviews, and critical observation of the system during a six-month period. Scientific implications contribute in providing a framework for orchestrating innovation ecosystems on a technology-driven industry, while managerial implications contribute in providing the company with a robust model on how to position as a global hub for cross-innovation.

The great demand for video services on the Internet is one contributing factor that led telecom companies to search for solutions to deliver innovative video services, using the different access technologies managed by them and leveraging the capacity of enforcing Quality of Service (QoS). One part of the solution was an infrastructure that guarantees QoS for these services, in the form of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) framework. The IMS framework was developed for delivering innovative multimedia services, but IMS alone does not provide the required services. This has led to further work in the area of multimedia service architectures. One noteworthy architecture is IPTV. IPTV is more than what its name implies, as it allows the development of various innovative video-oriented services and not just tv. When IPTV was introduced, many thought that it would bring back the revenue loss that telecom companies experienced to over-the-top (OTT) service providers. However, despite all its promises, the IPTV implementation has not shown as wide an uptake as one would expect. Although there could be various reasons for the slow penetration of IPTV, one reason could be the technical challenge that IPTV poses to service developers. One of the main reasons for the embarking of the research reported in this thesis was to identify and select free and open source software (FOSS) based platforms and augment them for easy development and deployment of video-oriented services. The thesis motivated how the IPTV architecture, with some modification, can be a good architecture to develop innovative video-oriented services. For a better understanding and investigate the issues of video-oriented service development on different platforms, we followed an incremental and iterative prototyping method. As a result, various video-oriented services were first developed and implementation-related issues were analyzed. This has helped us to identify problems that service developers face, including the requirement to utilize a number of protocols to develop an IPTV-based video-oriented service and the lack of a platform that provides a consistent programming interface to implement them all. The process also helped us to identify new uses cases through the process. As part of our selection process, we found that the Mobicents service development platform can be used as the basis for a good service development and deployment environment for video-oriented services. Mobicents is a Java-based service delivery platform for quick development, deployment and management of next generation network applications. Mobicents is a good choice because it provides a consistent programming interface and supports the various protocols needed in a consistent manner or an easy way to include the support for them. We used Mobicents to compose the environment that developers can use to build video-oriented services. Specifically we developed components and service building blocks that service developer can use to develop various innovative video-oriented services. During our research, we also identified various issues with regard to support from streaming servers in general and open source streaming servers in particular and also with the protocol they use. Specifically, we identified issues with Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), a protocol specified as the media control protocol in the IPTV specification, and made proposals for solving them. We developed an RSTP proxy to augment the features lacking in the current streaming servers and implemented some of the features we proposed in it.

The theoretical part depicts main developments in supply chain planning over time, shows common challenges in the world of supply chain and offers possible solutions in terms of collaborative supply chain planning practices. The practical part analyzes the CPFR process between one of the leading providers of telecommunications services T-Mobile and its major mobile handset supplier Nokia. The concluding part defines gaps between an ideal to-be process of supply chain collaboration and the status quo process. Status quo benefits of current CPFR processes are described as well.

Obsahem práce je téma Customer Value Management (CVM) v oblasti telekomunikací. Z důvodu poměrně velké saturace tohoto trhu nabývá na důležitosti navyšování tržeb plynoucí ze stávající zákaznické báze. Za hlavní cíle jsem vytyčil zpracování komplexního teoretického základu CVM a studie zabývající se nastavením efektivního retenčního procesu. V teoretické části čtenáře seznamuji se základními aspekty CVM - hodnota zákazníka (CLV), Campaign Management System, odchozí a příchozí komunikační kampaně a kontaktní strategie. Nedílnou součástí je popis Business Intelligence nástrojů -- prediktivní modely a zákaznická segmentace. Praktická část spočívá ve vypracování zmíněné studie. V reálném prostředí telekomunikační společnosti jsem analyzoval současný stav retenčního procesu a na základě zjištěných informací jsem navrhl nové CVM aktivity, které vedou ke zvýšení hodnoty zákaznické báze. Hlavními přínosy práce jsou poskytnutí teoretického základu o oblasti CVM, který slouží jako dostačující informační zdroj pro potřeby v akademickém i business prostředí a navržená studie CVM aktivit v retenčním procesu vhodná pro použití i ve společnostech mimo telekomunikační odvětví.

The aims of the thesis are two-fold. The first aim is to evaluate the antecedents which influence loyalty to Tesco and Tesco Clubcard, contending that customer loyalty is influenced by factors of both a social and marketing nature. The second aim is to assess the nature and type of loyalty exhibited by Tesco customers towards Tesco and Tesco Clubcard. These two aims derive from the research question ‘What are the antecedents of loyalty exhibited by Tesco customers towards Tesco and Tesco Clubcard?’ and are integrated in the research hypotheses to be addressed in the research: H1 satisfaction, trust, commitment, emotional attachment and passion are influential in a customer’s loyalty towards Tesco and Tesco Clubcard, was supported; H2 older females are the demographic group most likely to be loyal to Tesco and Tesco Clubcard, was supported; H3 Tesco customers exhibit ‘incentivised’ loyalty towards Tesco Clubcard, was not supported. The context to this research is that loyalty to grocery retailers is argued to be based on satisfaction, trust and commitment, with loyalty programmes playing an ‘incentivising’ role in customer loyalty. Using 600 questionnaires conducted at 2 Tesco formats, Tesco Extra and Dundee Riverside Extra in Dundee, Scotland with Tesco customers and 20 interviews at the homes of female Tesco customers aged 51 and over, the research drew a number of conclusions. The first conclusion from the research is that there are significant positive relationships between all the tested antecedents (satisfaction, trust, commitment, recommendation, emotional attachment and passion) and loyalty, indicating a level of respondent loyalty which has a ‘social’ dimension to it. However, customer loyalty towards Tesco and Tesco Clubcard is not particularly ‘social’ in nature, it was premised on the antecedents of happiness/satisfaction, trust and to a lesser extent commitment with grocery shopping viewed as a practical activity and different from a social relationship. The second conclusion was that Tesco customers were spuriously loyal to Tesco and Tesco Clubcard, loyal because of convenience and to a lesser extent incentives. By convenience the research revealed Tesco’s ability to create an environment which encouraged customers to rely on their convenient store location and accessible opening hours, operating a near monopoly with its 8 stores across all retail formats in convenient locations in Dundee and Broughty Ferry and the ease in which customers can use Tesco Clubcard and the lack of effort required to access offers. The third conclusion was that Tesco customers were more loyal to Tesco than Tesco Clubcard with the majority of interviewees referring to Tesco and Tesco Clubcard being ‘one entity’. This underlines the perceived limited capacity of Tesco Clubcard to increase frequency to or spend in store and the importance of the peculiarities of Tesco as a grocery retailer in Dundee. By peculiarities this research referred to Tesco’s retail dominance in Dundee in terms of market share, number and location of stores, the staff employed, it’s varied online and offline ‘grocery package’ and its use of the media to remind customers that they are attempting to build a relationship, almost social in nature with their customers, a fact acknowledged by a number of interviewees. The fourth conclusion was that females, particularly those aged 51 and over were the most loyal to Tesco and Tesco Clubcard, argued to be because it was in their nature to invest time and effort into maintaining relationships and friendships which translated into their shopping behaviour. The final conclusion was in terms of the characteristics of a Tesco customer most likely to be loyal, someone who always used Tesco, driving past other grocery retailers to patronise a Tesco store, would recommend Tesco to others, had a family member employed or previously employed by Tesco, owned and always used their Tesco Clubcard, preferred Tesco as a grocery retailer and would not switch their current loyalty from Tesco, frequented the store 1-3 times a week and were aged between 58 and 63. These conclusions contribute to existing research in the areas of customer loyalty and loyalty programmes in three parts. First, this study consolidates and takes research forward in the areas of loyalty programmes, customer loyalty and the role of age and gender in customer loyalty. Second, the research identifies the peculiarities of Tesco in Dundee and the capacity of these peculiarities to engender convenient loyalty among customers. Finally, as one of only a handful of studies on Tesco and Tesco Clubcard the results should prove useful to academics and practitioners alike given the high levels of interest into why Tesco and Tesco Clubcard are so successful in the UK grocery retail sector.

Abstract:
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a cloud service provisioning model which largely focuses on data centre provisioning of computing and storage facilities. The networking aspects of IaaS beyond the data centre are a limiting factor preventing communication services that are sensitive to network characteristics from adopting this approach. Cloud networking is a new technology which integrates network provisioning with the existing cloud service provisioning models thereby completing the cloud computing picture by addressing the networking aspects. In cloud networking, shared network resources are virtualized, and provisioned to customers and end-users on-demand in an elastic fashion. This technology allows various kinds of optimization, e.g., reducing latency and network load. Further, this allows service providers to provision network performance guarantees as a part of their service offering. However, this new approach introduces new security challenges. Many of these security challenges are addressed in the CloNe security architecture. This thesis presents a set of potential techniques for securing different resource in a cloud network environment which are not addressed in the existing CloNe security architecture. The thesis begins with a holistic view of the Cloud networking, as described in the Scalable and Adaptive Internet Solutions (SAIL) project, along with its proposed architecture and security goals. This is followed by an overview of the problems that need to be solved and some of the different methods that can be applied to solve parts of the overall problem, specifically a comprehensive, tightly integrated, and multi-level security architecture, a key management algorithm to support the access control mechanism, and an intrusion detection mechanism. For each method or set of methods, the respective state of the art is presented. Additionally, experiments to understand the performance of these mechanisms are evaluated on a simple cloud network test bed. The proposed key management scheme uses a hierarchical key management approach that provides fast and secure key update when member join and member leave operations are carried out. Experiments show that the proposed key management scheme enhances the security and increases the availability and integrity. A newly proposed genetic algorithm based feature selection technique has been employed for effective feature selection. Fuzzy SVM has been used on the data set for effective classification. Experiments have shown that the proposed genetic based feature selection algorithm reduces the number of features and hence decreases the classification time, while improving detection accuracy of the fuzzy SVM classifier by minimizing the conflicting rules that may confuse the classifier. The main advantages of this intrusion detection system are the reduction in false positives and increased security.

Nätverksaspekterna av en cloudbaserad infrastruktur som en tjänst utanför datacentret utgör en begränsande faktor som förhindrar känsliga kommunikationstjänster från att anamma denna teknik. Cloudnätverk är en ny teknik som integrerar nätverkstillgång med befintliga cloudtjänstmodeller och därmed fullbordar föreställningen av cloud data genom att ta itu med nätverkaspekten.  I cloudnätverk virtualiseras delade nätverksresurser, de avsätts till kunder och slutanvändare vid efterfrågan på ett flexibelt sätt. Denna teknik tillåter olika typer av möjligheter, t.ex. att minska latens och belastningen på nätet. Vidare ger detta tjänsteleverantörer ett sätt att tillhandahålla garantier för nätverksprestandan som en del av deras tjänsteutbud. Men denna nya strategi introducerar nya säkerhetsutmaningar, exempelvis VM migration genom offentligt nätverk. Många av dessa säkerhetsutmaningar behandlas i CloNe’s Security Architecture. Denna rapport presenterar en rad av potentiella tekniker för att säkra olika resurser i en cloudbaserad nätverksmiljö som inte behandlas i den redan existerande CloNe Security Architecture. Rapporten inleds med en helhetssyn på cloudbaserad nätverk som beskrivs i Scalable and Adaptive Internet Solutions (SAIL)-projektet, tillsammans med dess föreslagna arkitektur och säkerhetsmål. Detta följs av en översikt över de problem som måste lösas och några av de olika metoder som kan tillämpas för att lösa delar av det övergripande problemet. Speciellt behandlas en omfattande och tätt integrerad multi-säkerhetsarkitektur, en nyckelhanteringsalgoritm som stödjer mekanismens åtkomstkontroll och en mekanism för intrångsdetektering. För varje metod eller för varje uppsättning av metoder, presenteras ståndpunkten för respektive teknik. Dessutom har experimenten för att förstå prestandan av dessa mekanismer utvärderats på testbädd av ett enkelt cloudnätverk. Den föreslagna nyckelhantering system använder en hierarkisk nyckelhantering strategi som ger snabb och säker viktig uppdatering när medlemmar ansluta sig till och medlemmarna lämnar utförs. Försöksresultat visar att den föreslagna nyckelhantering system ökar säkerheten och ökar tillgänglighet och integritet. En nyligen föreslagna genetisk algoritm baserad funktion valet teknik har använts för effektiv funktion val. Fuzzy SVM har använts på de uppgifter som för effektiv klassificering. Försök har visat att den föreslagna genetiska baserad funktion selekteringsalgoritmen minskar antalet funktioner och därmed minskar klassificering tiden, och samtidigt förbättra upptäckt noggrannhet fuzzy SVM klassificeraren genom att minimera de motstående regler som kan förvirra klassificeraren. De främsta fördelarna med detta intrångsdetekteringssystem är den minskning av falska positiva och ökad säkerhet.

This thesis analyses tools for mobile web portal logs processing which could be used for reporting of required metrics. The area covers not only web analytics, but also mobile web and mobile handsets capabilities. The objective is to analyze possibilities of existing products which can be used to process web logs and choose appropriate existing or propose proprietary solution. This solution should comply with requirements and limitations given by the portal platform limitations. Theoretical part introduces the web analytics domain and the mobile web environment. Basic concepts and metrics are described as well as the fundamental data collection methods and mobile internet basic specifics. The knowledge of the web analytics and mobile web basics are crucial to be able to eruditely assess the tools capabilities introduced in the second part of this thesis. In the practical part, there are technical details on the mobile portal operating environment described. The requirements for the tool outputs are defined there and the prospective ready-to-use solutions are researched. The final part of the text addresses the final solution for the mobile portal reporting tool including the operational data processing. The secondary output of this thesis comprises of explanation of the mobile web analytics area for the broader audience. The main output of the practical part is analysis and specification of the requirements for mobile portal reporting tool and design of the solution with the supervision of the implementation and deployment within the production environment.

Abstract TECO advertisements promote the use of natural gas as an energy source because it claims that natural gas is an environmentally responsible alternative to other sources of energy. However, these advertisements do not reveal the not-so-green process, namely hydraulic-fracturing, or fracking, by which natural gas is produced and the consequences that it can and does have on public health and the environment. Even though the conversation about fracking has been on the rise in recent years as certain companies and politicians have pushed for an increase in natural gas production, scholars have yet to examine the communicative strategies used by energy companies, such as TECO, to disregard the environmental dangers associated with fracking and present natural gas extraction as both environmentally friendly and safe for consumers. Although there are numerous ways of analyzing the relationship between communication and greenwashing, I chose to examine the rhetorical choices, both written and spoken, and image choices embedded in TECO's greenwashing advertisements for natural gas. The use of communicative strategies in TECO's advertisements aim to create a dominant discourse of green consumerism, which works to shape society's understanding of what it means to be a consumer who strives to be environmentally responsible. My analysis was informed by Stuart Hall's theory of Encoding and Decoding (1973) and his theory of representation (1997). I argue that TECO presents the dominant code of the green consumer and my analysis offers an oppositional reading. The use of grounded theory provided me with a viable method to analyze TECO's advertisements because I was able gather and analyze data from ten commercial advertisements, examine each individually for themes, and then discuss the ways in which TECO uses specific language, both written and spoken, and visual images, in its advertisements, in order to construct the meaning of natural gas and the identity of the natural gas consumer.

Available methods of multi-criteria decision making allowed a platform for comparative analysis of functionalities of Potraviny online, Potraviny domů and Z-market shopping websites. The customer satisfaction survey had been carried out via a multiple choice questionnaire. A proposal for optimalization of the Tesco e-shop, this being the aim of the thesis, has been put together thanks to evaluation of both data collected and multi-criteria analysis being applied. The thesis also provides some subject related information about the Tesco company and looks into how the e-commerce evolves.

Abstract:
The diploma thesis "Financial analysis of Tesco and Carrefour" is mainly devoted to understand the economic and financial changes in retail business industry. The main idea is to compare two companies -- Tesco and Carrefour. Comparison consist of deep analysis of changing behaviour over the years of both companies together with analysis of economic data from annual reports which are published every year. It is very important to understand these information, because nowadays is retail industry highly dependent on the global economic changes. Most of the data is analysed over past three years, because recent economic stability is immoderately fluctuating and it could show high distortions of calculations. We will be able to answer which company is in better economic and financial position and which company is better to invest. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical part and practical part. From the first part is possible to understand the philosophy and conditions of the analysis. It contains explanation of analysis tools like PESTE analysis, SWOT analysis and explanation of financial calculations. All of these data are used in the second part of the analysis -- practical part -- where they are applied on two companies -- Carrefour and Tesco. It consist of revue of analysed companies to better understand their position globally, continued with practical analysis where tools as profitability, liquidity, performance and financial and economic behavior tools were used. Thesis is finished with comparison of horizontal and vertical analysis, where data from annual reports were measured. All of these data are summarized and valuated, to see the actual results of the thesis.

This master thesis describes the graduate programmes offered by the company Tesco Stores ČR a.s. In this thesis, I have at first focused on the theoretical knowledge in area of human resources. Following that, I have characterized the company Tesco Stores ČR a.s. and its Tesco Graduate Programmes. According to their focus, these programmes are divided into three main categories: retail, distribution and central office departments. In the thesis, I have described these graduate programmes, considered their procedure, development and cooperation of the company with universities. The thesis also includes a questionnaire survey. This way, I have researched the factors based on which students of the second year of master studies at the Faculty of Management, University of Economics in Prague decide about their permanent professional position. According to ascertained facts, recommendations were formulated.

Companies are always trying to increase their sales and revenue, but nowadays due to technology advancement, competence and the fast moving economy this task becomes more difficult as time goes by. This is where innovation walks in, to find new ways to add value to customers, increasing profit and even find new potential markets. As part of implementing innovative practices, many companies have added corporate entrepreneurship to their structure, to look for new business models that reach diverse customers within the same industry. Getting in the mind of customers, trying to decipher unspoken needs and matching problems to new solutions is part of the insighting process that has to be done when attempting idea incubation. This research seeks to provide a methodology to make the insighting process for early idea validation, in a corporate environment, less manual and more mechanical. For this purpose the Stockholm division of Telia Company was used as study case and main source of data recollection, which brings the research results to a practical use and analysis.

The thesis concentrates on the organisational culture of the company Tesco in the Czech Republic. Organisational culture relates to national culture. Therefore the first part addresses the culural differences between parent-british and czech culture. National cultures are described by means of dimensions. There is also included a dynamic point of view on the culture, that talks about how culture evolves and changes. The practical part analyses the web page of the company and qualitative data gathered during research. The thesis conludes that the extent to which the employees identify with the company values depends on their position in the company. There are differences between managers, heads of departments and frontline employees.

Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) is a product offer that is the result of fixed and mobile networks convergence and the possibility of development of applications which are interoperable. Currently there are stand-alone products such as VoIP, VPN, Contact Center, Conferencing, Security Services, Email, IM, Presence and others which operate in silos and have complicated and difficult interoperability. In addition, applications are difficult to develop on top of this disparate infrastructure. The convergence of all communication networks on Internet Protocol (IP) and the emergence of more open software platforms have enabled a new paradigm- UCC - to emerge that will change how people communicate and collaborate.The purpose of this paper to analyze the impact of changing communication needs on vendors in general, with a specific emphasis on incumbent telecommunication carriers - network operators and service providers - so-called "telcos". It further illustrates a framework through which an incumbent telco can clearly identify an appropriate strategy for Unified Communication and Collaboration which utilizes its legacy strengths while moving towards innovation.In this paper, an analysis of publicly available data from research companies is performed; Unified Communication and Collaboration is fully defined; market drivers in large enterprise (often known as just Enterprise), and in small and medium business (also called SMB) are analyzed; competitive analysis of Unified Communication and Collaboration equipment vendors and carriers is illustrated; and an appropriate architecture for UCC is outlined. Special focus is given to incumbent telco's role, in comparison to equipment vendors, in the emerging Internet Protocol (IP) based communication technologies which are undergoing active diffusion.
(cont.) The result shows that carriers have more opportunity to capture value through hosted UCC in small and medium business (SMB) market as compared to large Enterprise. Existing hardware communication vendors are better positioned to get the major share of large Enterprise through software based customer premises equipment (CPE) UCC but carriers have an opportunity to provide software as a service (SAAS) services and to exploit their existing distribution channels.

Abstract: The aim of the work is to evaluate six different projects of the expansion of the company Tesco through opening new stores and choosing the best option on the general level. Shops differ from each other by their size (express, supermarket, hypermarket) and by the way of obtaining the required area (lease, building an own store). The whole thesis is divided into three parts. The theoretical part describes the development of the Czech retail market with food since 1996, when Tesco entered the Czech market. Methodology part describes different methods of evaluating investments. Practical part compare above mentioned projects with each other by using the methods described in the methodological part. The thesis found as the most suitable way of expansion the express format store, realized more likely by the option of lease than building a new store. However author mentioned that decision, if it is better to open the store in the leased place or built an own store significantly depends on specific terms of the project and it is not possible clearly decide on the general level. The thesis was written on the base of data provided for the purposes of this work by Tesco Stores ČR plc.

Esta tesis analiza la influencia que tuvo el pensamiento de Julio C. Tello en algunas obras de sus principales ilustradores. Se ha denominado al pensamiento de Tello como “Indigenismo telúrico-arqueológico”, vinculándolo y diferenciándolo respecto a otros planteamientos indigenistas. Se analiza esta influencia tanto en su ilustración de las investigaciones del arqueólogo como en su producción artística independiente. Se ha tenido presente la relación de su trabajo con antecedentes tanto foráneos como locales. La presente investigación identifica en algunas piezas halladas al Indigenismo telúricoarqueológico como influencia determinante y la relaciona con el contexto socio-laboral de Tello y sus colaboradores, así como con la trayectoria del colectivo artístico Grupo Waman Poma. Se analizan ilustraciones de los archivos AT-MNAAH y JCT-MAA-UNMSM, obras inéditas representativas del Indigenismo telúrico-arqueológico, piezas elaboradas en defensa de las huacas del valle de Lima, y trabajos artísticos elaborados por los artistas estudiados divergentes tanto del Indigenismo telúrico-arqueológico como del “peruanismo” de Sabogal y discípulos y otras manifestaciones del Indigenismo local, tales como las diversas formas de Costumbrismo. Se lleva a cabo la presentación y análisis de material inédito, del pensamiento de Tello, de las trayectorias de los artistas, y su defensa de huacas del valle de Lima con el fin de definir, delimitar y diferenciar al Indigenismo telúricoarqueológico de otros Indigenismos y evidenciar su influencia en estos creadores. Este estudio considera a los ilustradores de Tello como artistas por su formación artística profesional y los alcances de su producción. Estos artistas obtuvieron poco reconocimiento por sus prioridades profesionales, carecer de recursos y contactos para el éxito de su labor, y estar a contra corriente respecto a las vanguardias de su contexto. Representaron una retaguardia de marcada originalidad que expone un enfoque inédito dentro del conglomerado de discursos que, en la primera mitad del siglo XX, buscaron comprender lo indígena. This thesis analyzes the influence of Julio C. Tello’s thinking on the works of the most important illustrators that worked for him. For this study, Tello’s thinking has been characterized as a type of “telluric indigenismo,” and was both connected and distinguished from other types of indigenismos. Tello’s influence was analyzed in the illustrators’ pieces for Tello, and in their independent artistic production. The illustrators’ works were analyzed in relation to local and foreign precedents. The present investigation identifies Tello’s telluric-archaeological indigenismo as the main influence of some of the illustrators’ pieces. The investigation also draws connections between the pieces and Tello’s and his illustrators’ social and work environment, and with the artistic collective Grupo Waman Poma. For that purpose, pieces by Tello’s illustrators from the AT-MNAAH and JCT-MAA-UNMSM archives were discussed. The illustrations analyzed include: previously unpublished works that show the influence of such telluric-archaeological indigenismo, pieces produced to defend the Lima Valley archaeological ruins, artworks that explored themes beyond both the “telluric-archaeological indigenismo” and Sabogal’s and his disciple´s “peruanismo,” and other forms of local indigenismo such as variants of costumbrismo. This thesis displays and analyzes unpublished material, as well as Tello´s thought, the artists’ output, and their defense of the Lima Valley archaeological sites. These analyses were developed to identify and distinguish telluric-archaeological indigenismo from other indigenismos, and to evidence its presence in the illustrators’ works. Based on the illustrator’s artistic training and in the quality of their output, this study acknowledges the illustrators’ status as artists. These artists achieved little recognition because of their specific professional goals, their lack of economic means and social network in the local art scene, and the fact that their work went against the avant-garde trends of their context. The illustrators played the role of a “rearguard” of remarkable originality. Their works evidence a unique development (still insufficiently studied) among the diverse discourses that attempted to understand the “indigenous man” in Peru during the first half of the twentieth century. The Middle Horizon Occupation of the Julio C. Tello Complex, Cajamarquilla SiteThis paper presents results obtained by the Cajamarquilla Archaeological Project at the monumental urban center of Cajamarquilla, in the Rimac Valley, central coast of Peru. The 1996-1997 excavations in the Architectural Group Julio C. Tello exposed important burials and funeral contexts from Middle Horizon Epochs 1 and 2 as well as a room with offerings dating to Epoch 1. These remains demonstrate that Huari influences were not very significant in the origin, the development and the prestige system of the Cajamarquilla city.
El presente artículo trata sobre las investigaciones que el Proyecto Arqueológico Cajamarquilla viene desarrollando en el sitio urbano monumental de Cajamarquilla, valle del Rímac, costa central del Perú. Se exponen los resultados más importantes obtenidos durante el periodo 1996-1997 en el conjunto arquitectónico Julio C. Tello. Particularmente destaca el hallazgo de varios contextos funerarios de las épocas 1 y 2 del Horizonte Medio y un recinto con pozos de ofrendas de la Época 1. A partir de esta evidencia, los autores sostienen que las influencias huari no parecen haber sido demasiado trascendentes en el origen, funcionamiento y prestigio del sitio.

A qualidade apresenta-se atualmente como um vértice cada vez mais fulcral, tanto para empresas como para consumidores individuais. Consumidores e mercados estão cada vez mais informados e exigentes, no que diz respeito à qualidade pretendida em cada oferta de valor. Porém, para que haja um aumento da qualidade, sem que ocorra um aumento de custos associados, deverá ocorrer uma melhoria de forma contínua - Kaizen. O presente trabalho ambiciona contribuir para um maior conhecimento da filosofia Kaizen. Para tal, pretende-se compreender o impacto da sua aplicação na indústria, identificando qual a perceção dos colaboradores da empresa portuguesa Tesco relativamente à mesma. Desta forma, foram recolhidos 30 inquéritos pelos trabalhadores da empresa Tesco, com o intuito de depreender qual o conhecimento geral sobre a filosofia Kaizen, e de que modo esta teve implicações no dia-a-dia da empresa e nas suas operações. Dos resultados obtidos, é de realçar que, de uma maneira geral, todos os trabalhadores da Tesco estão satisfeitos com o Kaizen e com o impacto que a sua aplicação teve nas suas tarefas diárias. A valorização de cada recurso humano foi claramente essencial para o sucesso desta filosofia.
Quality is actually viewed as a main structure - both for companies and individual consumers. Consumers and markets are increasingly informed about what they consider to be the component "quality" in the value proposal. However, for there to be an increase in quality that occurs without an increase in costs, an improvement should occur continuously - Kaizen. The present work aims to contribute to a better understanding of the Kai¬zen's philosophy. Furthermore, it wants to understand the application impact in the industry, through the perception from the employees of the Portuguese company Tesco. This way, 30 surveys were collected by the Tesco's employees, in order to deduce what the general knowledge about the Kaizen philosophy, and how it had an impact on day-to-day business and operations. From our results, in general, all of Tesco's employees are satisfied with Kaizen's philosophy and with the impact that its application has had on their dairly taks. The value of each Human Resource was clearly essential to the success of this philosophy.
