Abstract:
Telemetry data frame structure is complicated and changeable, so telemetry pre-processing software cannot be universal. To solve this problem, a component method was proposed in this paper, which can effectively compensate for the deficiencies of the traditional method. XML files were employed to configure telemetry parameters, including the information of appropriate processing method for data processing. Based-on memory-mapped telemetry source data extraction can greatly improve source extraction speed, and data integrity is guaranteed by sub-frame data fusion. Subsequent telemetry software developing shows that the method can improve the reusability of pre-processing module and shorten the system development time.

Abstract:
Telemetry data processing modulis a software for converting the LAPAN-A3/IPB telemetry data into raw sensor data (level-0 product). Telemetry data output from the High Data Rate Modulator-demodulator (HDRM) becomes an input for telemetry data processor, which has entered its setup parameter. The objective of the research is to test LAPAN-A3/IPB telemetry data processor implementation. The development and processing of telemetry data have been performed on a desktop computer that are divided into two stages, data decoding and data decomposition. The performance of the software has been tested using eight samples of raw-data, consisted of multi-spectral and camera matrix data obtained before and after the launch of the satellite. The test results showed, there were no missing telemetry data frames and damaged codeword in the process of decoding.Data on missing multi-spectral lines and data on camera matrix frame lost in the process of decomposition were not found. It was concluded that the overall performance of the test result was that the system used was not able todecode, decompose, display quick-look LISA, or extractcamera matrix data in real-time.To perform as required, the computer performance needed to be increased up to 8 times. From this process, approximately 92% of CPU time were used for decoding and only about 8% were for the decomposition, extraction of data LISA, or extraction of data camera matrix.Improvement attempt by changing the word-size of 32bit processors into 64bit, did not give significant results and was only able to improve the processing speed of 8.1%. Abstract:
Advances in telemetry technologies have provided new opportunities to reveal the often-cryptic spatial ecology of anguillid eels. Herein we review 105 studies published between 1972 and 2016 that used a variety of telemetry technologies to study the movements of eels in a variety of habitats. Eight anguillid species have been tracked in three main geographical locations: Western Europe, the north-eastern part of North America and Australasia. Telemetry has proven to be an effective method for determining patterns of yellow eel movements in continental waters. It has also been used extensively to investigate the migratory behaviour of maturing eels as they leave fresh water to reach the sea. Among recent findings is the observation that downstream migration in continental waters is quite discontinuous, characterised by extended stopovers. Reconstructed migration routes in the open ocean obtained from satellite tags have provided indications of spawning areas, extensive vertical migrations and initial clues about the orientation mechanisms at sea. Telemetry studies have also revealed apparent evidence of predation by marine mammals and fish at sea, suggesting a significant natural source of mortality during the eel spawning migration. Finally, we discuss some limitations of telemetry technology and future directions, as well as associated challenges, to the developing field of eel spatial ecology.

Abstract:
Satellite tracking is of great importance for operational monitoring of the natural environment’s components. Here, telemetry is directly used, which is a set of technologies; it enables making remote measurements and gathering data that can be provided to the operator or user. The main goal of the research is to inform the reader on the ICARUS satellite telemetry project and the related current work in Russia. The ICARUS satellite telemetry system is an international development designed for studying the animal world, including its smallest specimens, and the environment as a whole. The authors consider the issue of processing and structuring large volumes of telemetric data for the purpose of their application in the tasks of operational visualization of animal movements. We present the structure of the data obtained through this system and describe software that allows its automated processing and uses it to form a spatial thematic database. The ultimate aim of the work is to create a web application that would provide the scientific community with ICARUS telemetry information and enable operational wildlife mapping.

Abstract:
Acoustic telemetry is used to investigate a diverse suite of questions regarding the biology and ecology of a range of aquatic species, and is an important tool for fisheries and conversation management. Herein we present a brief review of the Australian acoustic telemetry literature in the context of key areas of progress, drawing from several recent studies and identifying areas for future progress. Acoustic telemetry has been increasingly used in Australia over the past decade. This has included substantial investment in a national acoustic array and the associated development of a national acoustic telemetry database that enables tag deployment and detection data to be shared among researchers (the Integrated Marine Observing System Animal Tracking Facility). Acoustic telemetry has contributed to important areas of management, including public safety, design and management of marine protected areas, the use of closures in fisheries management, informing environmental flow regimes and the impacts of fisheries enhancements, and is most powerful when used as a complementary tool. However, individual variability in movement often confounds our ability to draw general conclusions when attempting to characterise broad-scale patterns, and more work is required to address this issue. This overview provides insight into the important role that acoustic telemetry plays in the research and management of Australian aquatic ecosystems. Application of the technology transcends aquatic environments and bureaucracies, and the patterns revealed are relevant to many of the contemporary challenges facing decision makers with oversight of aquatic populations or ecosystems.

Abstract:
This paper extensively explores the technology of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cells, delving into its theoretical foundations, operational intricacies, and its specific application in the HYDRIVE 1 bolide. The PEM fuel cell plays a crucial role in the vehicle's power ecosystem by converting hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, which is then utilized to energize the electrical system, telemetry, and engine. The drive system's specifications are meticulously presented, encompassing considerations of efficiency and safety. Choosing a hydrogen cell as the propulsive force for an automobile necessitates a comprehensive understanding of its operations. The study incorporates a thorough examination of various factors influencing the cell's performance, including operating conditions and the hydrogen supply system. Years of research have been dedicated to scrutinizing these aspects, facilitating a comprehensive analysis. The findings are then systematically compared with the manufacturer's data, enabling a holistic evaluation of the PEM hydrogen fuel cell's viability and effectiveness in the automotive domain

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to investigate the use of a communication network utilizing Long Range (LoRa) low-power wide-area network protocol for the telemetry of detected target chemicals. The sensor platform under development allows traditional electrochemical techniques to be executed with a low Size, Weight, and Power (low SWaP) system that is deployable using an autonomous or remote-controlled vehicle. Once in the field, the sensors communicate target chemical concentrations to a centralized gateway through LoRa to an Internet of Things (IoT) network. Researchers are currently deploying the prototype network for field testing of each node's sensing, meshing, and communication capabilities throughout all weather climates. Developing a robust and dynamic sensor network to monitor the environment and provide a live data feed to detect chemicals of interest in the environment eliminates the need for direct human interaction. The low power consumption of LoRa allows the network nodes to be deployed for an extended amount of time on a single battery supply.

Barton, Card, and Pope. L51637 Development of an Ultrasonic Stress Corrosion Cracking Detection Vehicle. Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. (PRCI), 1990. http://dx.doi.org/10.55274/r0010608.

Full text
Abstract:
Stress corrosion cracking poses a serious threat to aging underground cathodically protected gas pipelines. As coatings deteriorate, conditions conducive to both corrosion and stress corrosion cracking become more common. There have been many ruptures in various pipelines throughout the world attributed to SCC. One of the most important steps in combating failure by stress corrosion cracking is regular, reliable and cost effective monitoring of the pipelines. Current methods available (including hydrotesting and MT) are either expensive, time consuming, or not entirely reliable. Regular testing of pipes would also improve understanding of stress corrosion cracking initiation and propagation. Field trials of a prototype remote control stress corrosion cracking (SCC) detection vehicle took place from the May 21st 1990 to the June 1st 1990, at Peterborough in South Australia, as part of an agreement with the Pipeline Research Committee, of the Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. The present vehicle is self-contained, battery powered and is controlled by an on board computer. The vehicle can operate in an evacuated line and maintains a telemetry radio link with a monitoring computer at the pipe entry position. The detection system consists of two piezoelectric ultrasonic wheel probes fired by dedicated electronics. The vehicle is programmed to move through a certain section of pipe to record areas of ultrasonic activity corresponding to SCC in the bottom section of the pipe.
