Abstract:
In many countries, terrestrial broadcasting is the main delivery medium for television. In this paper, we propose a small-volume practical receiving antenna. Our design consists of a linear array of three vertically placed patch antennas which increase antenna gain. The antenna has a double-dielectric substrate (FR4 + air) in order to increase efficiency and bandwidth. In this paper, we also discuss simulations and practical results, and demonstrate that the proposed double-dielectric microstrip antenna is a viable design choice for digital terrestrial TV (DTT) reception. The designed antenna reached a gain of 10.5 dBi at the desired central frequency of 754 MHz.

Abstract:
A streaming television usually broadcasted through internet and can be watched on computer or mobile phone. However it can also be seen through television using video sender as the transmitter. To transmit it, of course, a suitable antenna is needed, in this case a bowtie antenna is selected. This research describe the design of a bowtie antenna that will be used as a transmitter antenna on a video sender. This bowtie antenna is designed by using an aluminum plate works on frequency of 655 MHz and has a return loss value of -21.127 dB, VSWR 1.192, 5.11 dB gain and bi-directional radiation pattern. The analysis process is carried out by analyzing the data taken from the audio and video results received in television as well as data from the measurement of signal strength captured by Register Transfer Level Software Define Radio (RTL SDR) and dipole antennas. Measurement results will be displayed in the sdrSharp software. The results of this measurement will be associated with field strength which is related to television signals. This bowtie antenna can transmit audio and video up to 30 m and has an average field strength value in Line of Sight (LOS) conditions of 120.3208 dBμV / m and at Non Line of Sight (NLOS) conditions of 123.5014 dBμV / m which is in accordance with the field strength standard in Indonesia that regulated in Perkominfo No. 31 Tahun 2014 which is above 70 dBμV / m in band V.

Abstract:
Faced with the challenges of modern communication, high data throughput requirements, extensive research has been paid to broadband modulation. The multi-carrier modulation is one of the most important wide band modulation techniques. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an effective blow to the broadcast channel multipath fading and high bit rate transmission multi-carrier modulation technology of wireless channels, it is widely used in modern digital television terrestrial broadcasting (DTTB) system to support performance bandwidth-efficient multimedia services with the aid of inverse fast Fourier transform and fast Fourier transform operation. Multiple-antenna transmitter and receiver technology allows several times to achieve data transmission rates and spectrum efficiency and the use of multiple transmit antennas and multiple receive antennas through spatial processing. The Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB) system with the multiple-antenna receiver is considered in this paper. Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB) has three kinds of Frame Head mode with PN420/PN595/PN945 as training sequences for the time domain synchronous OFDM (TDS-OFDM). At the receiver side with multiple antennas, Frame Head mode detection should be done. In this paper, the frame synchronization scheme is proposed for the DTMB systems with the multiple-antenna receiver. System performance studies under different channel situations are used to verify the efficiency of the proposed scheme for the DTMB systems with the multiple-antenna receiver.

Abstract:
Labour law sets out the obligation to identify and evaluate electromagnetic hazards in the vicinity of radiocommunication equipment and installations emitting an electromagnetic field (EM-field). Following the regulation of the Ministry of Labour, which established provisions regarding health and safety regarding the EM-field, the "broadcasting tele- and radiocommunication systems” and “mobile phone base stations” have been mentioned among the typical sources of an EM-field (Regulation...., OJ 2016 item 950, amended by item 2284, Annex 1, items 4 and 5). Radiocommunication devices also include “mobile and cordless phones and wireless short distance devices (Regulation...., OJ 2016 item 950, amended by item 2284, Annex 1, item 3), which are devices in common use that do not require a radiocommunication permit, and so are not the subject of this article. Today, radiocommunication devices and systems are among the most common sources of the EM- -field, and while emissions the EM-field of protective zones exists in the vicinity of antennas and some other elements of such systems. The radiocommunication systems are usually operation-free, though they require adjusting and maintenance so workspaces may be identified in their vicinity. The conditions of the workers’ exposure to the EM-field while using radiocommunication systems must undergo periodic inspections made according to the recommended and validated methods, in order to identify electromagnetic hazards and to take appropriate protective measures (Regulation..., Journal of Laws 2011, item 166; Regulation..., OJ 2016 item 950, amended by item 2284). The methods of measuring the EM- -field to the extent necessary to meet these requirements are currently not standardised. Therefore, the aim of the work presented in this article was to develop a recommended method for measuring the parameters of the EM-field in situ in the workspace, while using radiocommunication devices. The recommended measurement method is based on a detailed investigation of the characteristics of exposure to the EM-field surrounding typical radiocommunication devices and systems operated in Poland in the vicinity of systems of antennas and transmitters of mobile phone base stations, broadcasting transmitters of radio and low power television and radio-television broadcasting centres. The work is based on the own results of measurements, as well as published literature and reports from inspection measurements of the EM-field. Based on the results of the study, it was shown that, besides the antennas, which create primary sources of EM-field (in some cases also transmitters and elements of the antenna feeder), in the workspace in their vicinity there are also secondary sources of EM-field: metal structures (ladders, handrails, fences, antennas supports, pipes and groundings) and receiving or inactivated transmitting antennas exposed to the EM-field from active transmitting antennas. In the article, the worked out method is shown for measuring the EM-field in the work space in the vicinity of stationary transmitting radio-communication devices and systems, requiring a radiocommunication permit. The most important sources of uncertainty concerning EM-field measurements near these devices were also discussed.

Abstract:
Ommidirectional in azimuth plane antennas with horizontal polarization are used in communication systems of McWILL standard, digital television systems of DVB-T2 standard, radio monitoring systems, semi-active ranging using the target illumination with the television broadcast signal, and many other cases. In many cases, radar and radio monitoring systems use phase methods to determine the azimuth and elevation angle of the target. To view all azimuthal angles, ring arrays consisting of omnidirectional emitters, usually also represented by ring arrays, are used. This paper studies the characteristics of an omnidirectional radiating element of electrically small horizontal dipole elements. An expression is derived that relates the radius of the dipole ring array to the number of dipoles and the variation of the resulting radiation pattern. The results are confirmed by experimental studies.

Full text
Abstract:
Fractal is a recursively-generated object describing a family of complex shapes that possess an inherent self-similarity in their geometrical structure. When used in antenna engineering, fractal geometries provide multi-band characteristics and lowering resonance frequencies by enhancing the space filling property. Moreover, utilizing fractal arrays, controlling side lobe-levels and radiation patterns can be realized. In this thesis, the performance of Koch curve as antenna is investigated. Since fractals are complex shapes, there is no well&ndash
established for mathematical formulation to obtain the radiation properties and frequency response of Koch Curve antennas directly. The Koch curve antennas became famous since they exhibit better frequency response than their Euclidean counterparts. The effect of the parameters of Koch geometry to antenna performance is studied in this thesis. Moreover, modified Koch geometries are generated to obtain the relation between fractal properties and antenna radiation and frequency characteristics.

This thesis presents a solution to the problem of receiving a signal in the shadow and fringe areas. Theoretical and experimental investigation of the field behind an obstacle in a line of sight transmission path for UHF / microwave signals has resulted in a new approach to the analysis of electromagnetic fields in the shadow of an obstacle. Analysis using this approach showed the field to consist of varying amplitude and phase distribution. Additional analysis predicted an increase in received signal could be achieved if correlation between the field and antenna structure could be obtained. This was accomplished with a new antenna design. The thesis presents experimental and photographic evidence to support the theory. A novel technique involving the matching of the antenna structure to the field distribution, resulted in an increase of received signal in the diffracted field of up to 4 dB.

Abstract:
The plasma antennas offer a new solution to new requirements that are imposed on antenna systems with the advancing communication technology and increasing demand on wider frequency bands. In this thesis the plasma antennas are investigated for the radar and communication applications. The interaction of gas and semiconductor plasma with electromagnetic waves is inspected theoretically, and several experiments on the interaction of microwaves with gas plasma are conducted. Results of these experiments show that a relatively simple setup can produce plasma dense enough to interact with microwaves of frequency about 8 GHz. The previous studies of other institutes on plasma antennas are surveyed, emphasizing the results important for the use in radar and communication applications. Finally, semiconductor plasma is introduced, and an antenna system utilizing the semiconductor plasma generated by optical excitation is proposed.

Abstract:
Method of Moments (MoM)/Green&rsquo
s function formulation is developed for the analysis of electromagnetic radiation from planar rectangular microstrip antennas with different feeding techniques. Investigated structures are microstrip line fed patch antenna, proximity coupled patch antenna and slot coupled patch antenna. For all these structures equivalent problems are defined. Then, integral equations where currents are the unknowns are obtained from boundary conditions and by using spectral domain representation of Green&rsquo
s functions. Finally, MoM is applied to convert these integral equations to a system of linear equations. Currents on the conducting surfaces as well as equivalent magnetic currents on the apertures are modeled as a sum of piecewise sinusoidal subdomain basis functions with unknown coefficients which are calculated by solving the system of linear equations. Based on the formulations provided in this study, a Fortran code is developed. Numerical results calculated by using the code are presented in the form of patch and line currents and input impedances. Presented results are in good agreement with the results given in the literature.

Abstract: Different techniques for equalization and adaptive antenna arrays for CDMA and OFDM systems are investigated and proposed in this thesis. For CDMA systems, two equalization techniques at chip level and a reception scheme based on joint equalization and smart antennas, also at chip level, are proposed. The latter scheme, a Multi-Target Space-Time Receiver - MT-STR, is based on a set of multiple objectives in a space-time receiver. For applications in OFDM systems, an equalization technique and an adaptive antenna array scheme, both in the time domain, are proposed. The techniques presented for CDMA systems have been tested and simulated on a software platform specifically designed for third generation cellular systems (WCDMA, UMTS). On the other hand, the proposed techniques for OFDM have been tested in a simulation platform specially developed for the Brazilian Digital Television System - SBTVD. In the context of the developments for the SBTVD project, an OFDM synchronization technique for an advanced DTV system has also been implemented in this thesis. This subsystem was implemented in FPGA devices and integrated to the MI-SBTVD (Innovative Modulation for the SBTVD) plataform

Abstract:
In this thesis, parametric study and design of Vivaldi antennas and arrays are studied. The parameters of single element antennas and arrays are investigated regarding their effects on the design. The return loss responses and radiation patterns are considered in the parametric study. The results of simulations realized using Ansoft HFSS, a high frequency electromagnetic field simulation program, are shown and discussed. Two different Vivaldi antennas operating in 8.5-10.5 GHz frequency band with return loss responses better than 15 dB are designed based on the results of parametric study. Stripline to slotline transition is used in the feeding section of both antennas. In the same manner, two different 8-element uniform linear arrays operating in 8.5-10.5 GHz with half power beam widths smaller than 12&

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to improve the operational performance of the communication antennas mounted on complex platforms such as aircrafts and warships by arranging placements of these antennas. Towards this aim, primarily, in order to gain insight on the influence of geometrically simple structures composing the platform on antenna performance, a quarter wavelength monopole antenna placed at the center of a finite square ground plane is studied by using uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD). Besides, the change of far field radiation pattern and complex diffraction functions due to the variation of the width of a square ground plane is examined. Secondly, electromagnetic analysis of two Ultra High Frequency (UHF) antennas mounted on geometrically simple structures composing simplified F-4 aircraft is carried out by using transient solver of Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio®
(MWS), in order to conceive the influence of each structure on antenna performance. Then, electromagnetic analysis of these antennas mounted on simplified and original F-4 aircrafts is performed, in order to determine the optimal location of the lower UHF antenna (newly installed antenna) for the operational performance of this antenna to be optimum in terms of electromagnetic coupling and far field radiation pattern. Finally, electromagnetic analysis of the communication antennas mounted on a warship is performed by using transient solver of CST MWS®
, in order to determine the optimal locations of these antennas for the operational performance of these antennas to be optimum in terms of electromagnetic coupling and far field radiation pattern.

Abstract:
In this study we tried to design a microstrip antenna, to get a suitable radiation pattern for a LEO satellite. Our aim is to get a radiation pattern that has a maximum power which is not in the broadside direction to the antenna surface
instead broadside radiation has a relatively lower power density. Maximum power radiation is desired to be at about 30 &ndash
50 degrees angle beyond the normal to the antenna surface. We desire circularly polarized radiation. We used two concentric antennas
one is a circular patch at the center and the other is an annular ring which is used at the outer region. By using Ansoft Ensemble 8.0 software, we design an antenna which has a resonance frequency at 8.2 GHz. Using the result of the program we design the real antenna. The measurement results are compared with the simulation results.
