Full textFor 6 years, Mexico has known an important overthrow in its audiovisual system. The sale of the 152 TV stations of the national network from the public channels 7 and 13, in 28 out of 31 states of the country, has broken the integration and social cohesion links that television had with the population. The cultural penetration power of television is extraordinary and influences the creation and the reinforcement of social values as well as the configuration of behavior examples. And it is this function that you cannot find anymore in the Mexican audiovisual panorama. With the privatization of the cultural and educative public channels, the Mexican television has become a completely private television liable to the market laws, marketing and entertainment. The problem of Mexico is the lack of the state in television administration, which reinforces national and international private television. Even if the national public channel network has been sold, some educative and cultural public stations still exist in some states of the country, like the CORAT (Comisión de radio y televisión de Tabasco) channel 7 (Tabasco state, South-West of the country). The objective of this research is to know if after 15 years of existence, channel 7 is still an educative and cultural channel and if there is still a place for this kind of television in a state and a country where economical and political forces are more important than social needs. The institutional analysis, which consists in the understanding of a social reality, starting from the stakes of forms and forces in which the practices and the statements of the actors intervene, helps in the right comprehension of problems, situations, circumstances, causes and effects surrounding channel 7 in Tabasco. It results in a proposal of political, economical and social strategies, and the reaffirmation that the solution concerning Mexican audiovisual landscape is a regional educative and cultural public television. The method of this research is partly based on 62 interviews of people from different social classes in the state of Tabasco, which is the main resource of this study

Full textThis research aims to understand the role of international 24-hour TV news channels in the era of globalization: the tension and balance between the role of the international news channel for public diplomacy and the respect for journalistic principles; the role of international news channels for the global public space in the transnationalised world. In order to answer these questions, we analysed their missions announced by the selected channels (CNN International, France 24, BBC World News, NHK World TV, Arirang TV and Al-Jazeera English) and their media content with a constructivist perspective. The results show that the channels implicitly realize their role for public diplomacy and explicitly emphasize the journalistic principles. Finally, we found that international news channels work as an international communications infrastructure phenomenally with dual goal and a dual identity. In addition, the result shows that the international 24-hour TV news channels try to play a role as international public sphere through participatory and interactive programs

Full textAt a time when social fractures are growing, this thesis aims to establish the link between the political will to build a nation, the basis of living together in a Gabonese society where the plurality of belongings is striking, and the definition the social role of the media in general and the first public television channel in particular. Based on an institutional approach to the means of communication, crossed with a socio-semiotic analysis, it first draws up the socio-history of this television by situating it as a state instrument responsible for statisting society and to work for the advent of a nation; then, through a synchronic analysis of television news broadcasts broadcast in 2014, it studies the modes of representations of national referents in the various modes of representations of the social space and in the modes of representation of state leaders, actors policies. Finally, it profiles the producers of its content by questioning their perceptions as mediators in a nation under construction and by bringing up to date the part of the audiovisual enunciation that is present in the

Full textMaking an analysis of science divulgence on television conducted us, first of all, to review the concept of “science” and its evolution; secondly, the characteristics and constraints of the “science divulgence” process on television. Because, even if they are closely linked, they must be considered as two different domains: in one hand production and in the other hand knowledge divulgence. The main objective of our research is to provide a diagnosis of the process of scientific divulgence for young people, and to understand the orientation and the evolution of this kind of documents which were broadcasted in French and Mexican public television within a period of twenty years. In order to do this, it was necessary to grasp and explain the concepts of science and divulgence of science, analyze the way topics are staged on television, understand the stakes of gender and tones used for knowledge transmission, as well as the role and the participation of the main actors of the divulgence of science: the mediator, the scientific and the public

Full textSince the world wide generalization of the end of a television monopoly the enforcement of programming strategies and the constraints of audiences are realities shared by private television of the North as well as the public ones in the South. This is what reinforced the fear of a homogenization of audio-visual products and raises the issue of identity. This study aims at bringing out the diffrent identity profiles of television channel. With the examples of Cameroon and Senegal publics televisions, we shall propose an analysis of the explicist and implicit indicators and practices that build the specificity of each channel in order to set up a normative analysis gril of identity television. The purpose of our study is to highlight the institutionnal and popular grounds on which CRTV and RTS1 try to construct their national identity. If applied to other channels, these comments may enable us to reflect on the issue of channel identities in a more global and concrete way

Full textThis research questions the modalities of visibilisation of collective actors. It investigates the ways television channels build signs for their own identification. Based on an historical analysis of identificatory devices (broadcast design and autopromotion) and an ethnographical study in channels, it lights on three dimensions of the scaffolding that support the "self presentation" of collective actors. The author shows that during this last 25 years a specific device for the visibilisation of channels has been build. The latter institutes a space that affords channels inscription directly on the consumption scene (above and between the products). The research point out the multiple adjustments that are needed to product this device of identification. The channels visibilisation is grounded on the "re-production" of programs that rests on specific socio-technical equipments. This re-production takes place within an autonomous social world, which position and activities are daily discussed. For last, the author lights on the forms of mobilization that compose the work of visibilisation. The latter reveal the conflicts that can appear between product representatives and channel representatives. They are enriched with another form of representation that mobilized TV viewers. Such a mobilization consolidates the work of visibilisation. With the analysis of the wings of a social representation of collective actors, this research points out the scaffolding (inscription device, socio-technical structure, organization work, and projection) that visibilises intermediaries in the relation they try to build with the public
