Abstract:
Television program has been a cultural study since a long time ago due to the fact that television is a media which is purposed to educate, to inform, to entertain, and to control the society (religion), economy, and popular cultural ceremony. There will emerge some problems when the content and the message of a program does not fit with the audience’s expectation, for instance, a religious program that has potency of conflict, controversy, and violence. All of those are categorized as breaking the rules, norm, and religious teaching. This study uses critical discourse analysis in order to exa

Competency-based approach prevailing in higher schools requires the use of linguodidactic techniques that allow integrating the study of a foreign language into the process of professional knowledge and skills development. We consider the bilingual aspect of professionally oriented foreign language teaching of future physicians, which is the foothold of language education for non-linguistic training programmes. Objective Morbidly adherent placentation is associated with increased maternal morbidity and mortality. Recently, there has been mounting evidence supporting the benefits of a standardized multidisciplinary approach at tertiary teaching hospitals. Our objective was to estimate the impact of the implementation of a similar program at a high-volume private community hospital. Study Design In this retrospective cohort study, we evaluated maternal outcomes in all cases of histopathologically confirmed morbidly adherent placentation since the initiation of our multidisciplinary program (2012–2016).

The developments in the last ten years in the form of DVD, streaming video, video on demand, interactive television and digital language laboratories call for an assessment of the research into language teaching and learning making use of these technologies and the learning paradigms underpinning them. This paper surveys research on language teaching and learning using these and older technologies since 1999, and maps out some pointers for future research. The evidence suggests that research on video and language learning using DVD and other recent technologies is already well established, bri

This ethnographic case study of a multicultural/multilingual classroom in a newcomer school describes an incident that occurred among new immigrant English Language Learners from widely diverse backgrounds in a secondary classroom in Texas. Increased numbers of immigrant students in U.S. schools have resulted in classrooms with tremendous diversity in terms of language, ethnicity, culture, religion, among other categories. The incident arose as the result of a clash of cultures and lack of knowledge on the part of students. As a result, an explicit focus on culturally responsive teaching is ca

Rain classroom is a big data tool that effectively connects the teacher with students throughout the teaching process. This paper mainly applies rain classroom in blended teaching of college students, and evaluates the application effect. Firstly, the authors set up a model of rain classroom, covering all three phases of the teaching process: before-class (B), in-class (I) and after-class (A). Next, the BIA model was applied to the course Film and Television Appreciation, and the key issues in each phase were explained. This study compares the science achievement growth trajectories of fifth-grade students in rural and nonrural school districts in Texas. Using a growth hierarchical linear model, we explored the effects of time, school location (rural vs. nonrural), and their interaction on students’ science performance as measured by the high-stakes State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) science test over five academic years. We found that rural school students lagged in science at the initial stage when STAAR was first administered in the 2011–2012 school year. With time, the gap between rur

The article deals with teaching and researching stage speech on the supposition that researching stage speech influences how we teach stage speech. Stage speech is an artistic speech that researchers try to study and explain in a scientific manner, i.e. with scientific terminology and methods. Modern studies of stage speech are interdisciplinary (they combine phonetics and theatre studies, literary theory and history, sociology, etc.) and no longer just studies on a stricly linguistic (phonetic) level.
