In the chip-scale package final test, temperature is one of the main components as this is also indicated on once specification on electrical parameters that are temperature sensitive especially for inertial Micro-Electro- Mechanical Systems (MEMS) accelerometers. The voltagetemperature relationship of an accelerometer has been presented and used to calibrate test temperature on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) setup. Bench reference data of a set of units were gathered to correlate with the Device under Test (DUT) temperature with the raw ATE handler test temperature using linear regression. Of

The detailed dynamic characteristics of direct methanol fuel cells need to be known if they are used for transportable power sources. The dynamic response of a direct methanol fuel cell to variable loading conditions, the effect of cell temperature and oxygen flow rate on the cell response, and the cell response to continuously varying cell temperatures were examined experimentally. The results revealed that the cell responds rapidly to variable current cycles and to continuously varying cell temperatures. The increasing rate of gradual loading significantly influences the dynamic behavior. Th

Because of the superior material properties of diamond, high performance in high-temperature power device application is demonstrated in both the computational and the experimental studies. A calculated Baliga limit of diamond Schottky barrier diode (SBD) based on 1D model indicates that an increase in on-resistance is highly expected within the high blocking voltage region and will be remarkable at high temperature conditions. Because of the high barrier height of diamond SBDs, the reverse leakage current is suppressed even at high temperatures. From the high-temperature stability test, stabl

With growing environmental concerns, natural ester transformers are widely used due to their excellent properties and good biodegradability. Near-surface air temperature inversions are a common element of northern environments. Seasonal and inter-annual variations of low-level inversion characteristics were examined using 47 years of twice-daily radiosonde data from Whitehorse airport (1956-2003). Nocturnal low-level inversion events occurred throughout the year in 68% of the 0400h PST radiosonde ascents. Afternoon (1600h PST) inversion events, in contrast, were primarily a winter phenomena, limited to 24% of the readings between October and March, and were deepest and strongest during the winter months. This study addresses the need for investigation of drying-rate characteristics of fine-grain soils. The research was an attempt to develop a parameter for use in thermal consolidation and/or shrinkage modeling. The investigation required the development of new test methods. During the study, a strong correlation between plasticity indices and certain drying characteristics was noted and discussed in detail. An argument is presented for the superiority of the Drying-Rate Test in comparison with current laboratory procedures for determining Atterberg Limits.

Chemical analysis indicated the precipitates were M23C6 chromium carbides and intermetallic niobium-nickel-silicides. Electron probe X-ray microanalysis indicated the niobium-nickel-silicides were predominately G-phase (Ni16Nb6Si7) as well as η’-phase (Nb3Ni2Si). The niobium-nickel-silici

Thermowells are widely utilized for temperature measurement in metering stations on natural gas pipelines. The use of thermowells induces errors in the measurements of gas temperature due to the heat transfer processes involved in the thermowell installations, which results in errors in the flow rate calculations. In order to study the temperature measurement accuracy of using thermowells, a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics study is performed and an in-depth investigation of the effect of the multiple variables on gas temperature measurement is carried out.
