Full textThe subject of this research is the dynamics of the young tennis player’s activity in return of service during entrainments and matches. These young tennis players aged 10-12 years old, are coaching by Tennis Brittany League. This research was conducted in collaboration with tennis coach in Brittany and three young players, during sport season. Fifteen interviews were analysed within the theoretical and methodological framework of « course of action ». To kinds of data were collected : (a) observing and recording data of entrainment and matches situations ; (b) young tennis player’s autoconfrontation data. The results present the course of action local dynamics. They describe the player concerns when returning services. Next, they highlight the knowledge mobilization/construction during different situation. They present young tennis players’ referential models, and a description of the knowledge mobilization/construction by actors in situation. The discussion makes a contribution to cognitive ergonomic of the sport actor activity. It studies the contributions, on the one hand, of the analysis of course of action’s young tennis player and knowledge about entrainment, competition and compare between entrainment/matches, on the other hand, the contributions of the study about course of action. Full textThis research offers a contribution to the study of the reference knowledge in tennis. Used method appears in two phases. At first, the preparatory critical analysis is interested in reference knowledges and knowledges to be taught, presents in formalized didactic productions. Different conceptions of authors are tracked down in touch with break and continuance. In a second time, empirical research continues by an investigation in the dirction of 564 competitors of two sexes, distributed in three big groups, the young players between 8 and 14 years, the players amateurs and the professional players. The main results of the transverse study demonstrate : -the absence of significant progress of continuance between the three groups of competitors. - a logic of specialization at the stage of the expertise. - the influence of the surface for two sexes and specially to the professional players. - the importance of the register of the opponent in the choice of break or continuance. -the priority choice of the register of continuance for match points at the stage of the expertise. Longitudinal study shows different evolutions of the competitive practices of the professionals. These can preserve, systematize or transform their play of initiative. The main hypothesis of a reducing gap between the conceptions of authors and the competitive practices is confirmed

Full textVideo games are not only a source of entertainment, as they also provide authentic language input for second language learners. Specifically, this study investigates the effect of video games on grammatical mastery of English as a second language (ESL) among a targeted sample of Quebecers. To test the hypothesis that video games impact a higher level of mastery of ESL, an online survey was distributed to 16 volunteer participants who were divided into two specific groups identified as gamers and non-gamers. Participants provided a written text in English of approximately 250 words on any topic which was evaluated for grammar and lexical quality. All participants were UQAC students, and all students were identified as originating from historically high percentage French-speaking environments. Moreover, a small sample of participants was directly observed during the process of gaming to evaluate the specific use and frequency of certain common verb tenses. All submissions were evaluated for the correct use of verb tense and data was gathered based on the number of grammatical and lexical errors. Comparison of these values allows for a qualitative means of analyzing these two groups of participants. In general, it was found that gamers statistically performed better than non-gamers, both grammatically and lexically. They also made fewer mistakes. However, it became apparent during this study that there are additional influences that may contribute to the mastery of ESL.

Full textNigerian learners of French as a Foreign Language are generally faced with difficulties while using French Past Tenses in producing written composition. In this thesis, we are particularly interested in the case of the Yoruba learners of French language. The analysis of their written composition copies reveals that most of the errors committed originate from the mother tongue, Yoruba which does not know the tense-markedness of French language with her conjugation and complicated verb endings. This specifically means that there are problems closely related to the French Language herself. Actually, Yoruba learners find it particularly difficult to use French temporal adverbs and shifters in their written composition copies. On the other hand, through our analysis of copies of two objective tests in which students were to produce the missing verb forms, we also found that the learners lack some theoretical linguistic knowledge which is important in understanding French past tenses : for instance, Benveniste's “Discours & récit” and Weinrich's “Premier plan / Arrière-plan”. In addition, our analysis of the tempo-aspectual systems of both languages shows that contrary to French language, Yoruba aspects and tenses do not function separately. We believe that students would better understand the use of French past tenses if they have a good grasp of the “grammatical aspect” notion and if this linguistic notion is taken into account while teaching the topic. We brought the research to a close with different suggestions on how to improve the teaching / learning of the French tenses concerned here. On the whole, placing oneself on the didactic perspective, we are of the opinion that all these information put together can help develop a Methodology for the teaching and learning of French past tenses; and by so doing, advance the more the cause of the teaching and learning of French in Nigeria

Full textThis thesis develops the idea of a " universal thought " bound to a metrological common culture built on agreement. It confirms the lack of understanding of metrology in the general public and in schools. The thesis examines three " states of being " of metrology. Scientific metrology has, like Science, a universal vocation. It establishes units, standards and methods of measurement ans calculates degrees of uncertainty. ,It is in symbiosis with the Scientific community and with industry. Transactional metrology was born in Mesopotamia, 5000 years ago, at the same time as school, writing, accountancy and laws courts. Certain principles of metrology first applied in these ancient times are still present in today's metrology. " Personal metrology " is introduced in this thesis as a new concept, and refers to the original function of measurement as a means for generating self-awareness and environmental recognition, vital for humain survival, living and personal development

Full textThis thesis, written in a plural theoretical framework, focuses on poetry in second-language teaching and learning. Combining a literary and linguistic perspective with insights from second language acquisition research, it deals with the integration of poetry in the teaching of English in secondary schools in France. Involving class-groups of teenagers aged between 13 and 16 years, this research based on intervention includes three studies that make it possible to observe the opportunities for L2 development provided by the different activities associated with poetic texts and to investigate the manner in which students relate to poetry, in terms of representations, attitudes and experiences. The first study, based on a quasi-experimental protocol, highlights the potential benefits of voicing poems, with or without memorization, for lexical development. Through indirect observation, the second study sheds light on the advantages and limits of sharing the experience of reading poetry and raises the issue of task design and mediation. In the last study, the analysis of the written productions of the learners, crossed with the questionnaires, reveals the specificity of poetic creative writing and its rich potential for L2 development. Our results suggest that most students have a neutral attitude towards poetry. They mainly associate it with academic experience and its regular formal aspects. Rote learning and recitation re-emerge as unpleasant school memories. These three studies make it possible to offer some ideas for reflection and pedagogical actions
