Abstract:
Abstract This paper introduces speech acts that I denote as tentative, which means they do not make sense as single propositions. The meaning they make depends on the attempt to formulate something which seems difficult to put in words. There is no finished intention, feeling or idea to be represented; neither can one construct whatever one wants to say. Tentative speech acts make sense by literally speaking into a felt complexity, as Eugene Gendlin demonstrates. What needs to be understood in regards to these speech acts is a development of meaning occurring during the formulation and not the ontological status of inner entities. A happy outcome of tentative speech acts is a clarification of some aspect of a situation, problem, puzzlement or vague idea, at times involving complex implicit contexts, backgrounds and what Dilthey termed “Lebenszusammenhänge”. In order to speak of these kinds of complex points of reference, John Dewey introduced the term of the „quality of a situation“ and Eugene Gendlin the term „felt sense“. The paper explores ways to approach these speech acts and to consider their philosophical relevance.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Much social work practice with adolescents involved in activities known to be risky, such as experimentation with substances or petty crime, seems to have been influenced by the conventional input-output model which assumes an unreflected relationship between the present manifestation of risk and adverse future outcomes. This model relies on an uncertain scientific basis and does not really allow for the adolescents’ own reflexivity. This article aims at contributing to the shaping of more reflexive concepts for social work in this area, and is based on material derived from a focus group made up of 17 adolescents from Central Norway, aged 16-18 years old. The major foci of analysis were: i) how the adolescents positioned themselves with regard to conflicting notions of respectability, ii) which constructions of meaning might be attached to this positioning and iii) how the positioning might inform social work practice.

Abstract:

Abstract Objectives To identify the contents of pills found on an intoxicated patient by ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QTof).5 To highlight the potential ability that this technique can add to the clinical laboratory. Methods Illicit PEZ-like pills purchased from an online vendor, containing unknown substances, were investigated by UHPLC-QTof. Accurate mass and experimental data were obtained. Tentative identifications were subsequently confirmed with commercial standards. Results Accurate mass data, high-energy mass spectra, elucidation software, and a review of the scientific literature enabled the tentative identification of clonazolam and flubromazolam in the PEZ-like pills. On the basis of these tentative identifications, commercial standards were purchased to confirm the initial findings. On subsequent reinterrogation of the data, flubromazolam was identified in the urine specimen of the patient. Conclusions Utilizing high-resolution mass data, 2 novel benzodiazepines were tentatively identified by reinterrogation of a routine analysis for drugs of abuse. Use of UHPLC-QTof in a clinical toxicology laboratory provides additional capabilities to explain and potentially improve treatment of patients presenting to the emergency department with symptoms possibly due to toxic substance ingestion.

Abstract:
Early Devonian graptolites are widely distributed within the 30°N and 30°S parallels of paleolatitude, with only a few known locations outside the 30° parallel. Only three early Devonian graptolite locations, i.e., west Yunnan, southeast Guangxi (in low paleolatitude), and south Xizang (Tibet) (in middle-high paleolatitude), have been reported in China. An Early Devonian graptolite fauna of moderate diversity, including three genera and 14 species, is described from the Qinzhou–Yulin region in southeast Guangxi, China, including Uncinatograptus jadae sp. nov. and Neomonograptus aequabilis latus subsp. nov. Based on these taxa, four biozones, the Uncinatograptus uniformis Biozone, the tentative Uncinatograptus praehercynicus Biozone, the tentative Neomonograptus falcarius Biozone, and the Uncinatograptus yukonensis Biozone, are erected in ascending order. The Lower Devonian graptolite biozonation in Guangxi agrees with the global standard. However, the graptolite biodiversity below the Uncinatograptus yukonensis Biozone in the Qinzhou–Yulin region is lower than those of the other parts of the world. In the present study, the tentatively recognized Neomonograptus falcarius Biozone has only the index species. In the study region, the species Uncinatograptus hercynicus (Perner) is absent. Thus, we tentatively employ the Uncinatograptus praehercynicus Biozone as a possible substitute for the Uncinatograptus hercynicus Biozone.

Abstract:
In Language and Woman’s Place (1973), Robin T. Lakoff argues that women’s subordinate position in society is manifested in and maintained by their tentative speech style. Since the publication of the study, this claim has achieved great attention in the field of language and gender, and various scholars have examined the features of Lakoff’s ‘women’s language’ empirically. This article creates a critical overview of four studies investigating specific features of tentative language, primarily tag questions, and discusses to what extent their findings support Lakoff’s thesis. While all the studies find that women employ more tentative features than men, they also observe that tentative language serves facilitative functions in interaction. Thus, tentative language cannot be understood exclusively as a deficient contrast to assertive language. A nuanced understanding of tentative language requires a functional perspective that recognizes the efficient social functions of the speech style.

Abstract:
Some sociolinguists, notably Robin Lakoff, have argued that tentative language is typical of female speakers. However, other studies indicate that gender may not be the only independent variable affecting the use of tentative language. This overview examines the claim that women’s speech is inherently less assertive by critically evaluating the methods and findings of four studies of gender-related use of tentative language. The alternative independent variables that are considered are the gender of the addressee, group composition, gender salience, and topic. The dependent variables vary from study to study, but all fall under the label “tentative language,” such as hedging and tag questions. It is concluded that while there is some evidence the speaker’s gender affects the use of tentative language, the aforementioned variables are likely to have an effect as well. Therefore, this overview supports the theory that considering tentative language typical of women’s speech is a simplified interpretation.

Abstract:
Summary. The study aims to highlight the importance of psychotherapy in the clinical management of patients with psychosomatic alexithymia. Recent research in the psychomedical field concluded that alexithymia presents a risk factor of the psychosocial type, with implications in the appearance of the psychosomatic disorders. This is possible because alexithymic people are unable to fully and properly identify their own emotions and communicate, thus causing a negative emotional tension. Therefore this tension accumulated during negative emotional distress, has a negative reflection in the psychosomatic sphere. Objectives. The objectives set are to increase the capabilities of integrative ego by reducing alexithymia. Methods and materials. They consist in using a cluster of psychotherapeutic techniques of integrative psychotherapy. The techniques role is to help identify their emotions and their verbally externalization, in order to reduce psychological stress. The use of the Toronto alexitymia scale test (TAS) to identify alexithymia in psychosomatic patients is quite helpful in this study. The study was conducted on a sample of 58 people (women and men), in the age range 25-65 years old, with psychosomatic disorders and alexithymia. Results. Study results (shown în graphic) will express differences obtained from Toronto Alexithymia test before and after psychotherapy sessions. Also it will highlight a improved state of mind of the patients who participated in psychotherapy sessions.
