Abstract:
The Tenthredinoidea is the most diverse superfamily of non-apocritan Hymenoptera. It is also one of the largest herbivorous groups within the order, some species having substantial economic impact. Until very recently, no comprehensive phylogenetic analyses of the superfamily had been undertaken. This paper presents the largest morphological dataset assembled so far for elucidating the phylogeny of the Tenthredinoidea. In total, 129 taxa were scored for 146 characters from the adult head, thorax, wings and ovipositor apparatus. The emphasis of the taxon sample is on Tenthredinidae (104 termina

In a phytocenosis of sessile oak and hornbeam with butcher?s broom (Querco-Carpinetum serbicum aculeatetosum Jovanovic 1951) on the territory of Mt. Avala, 42 species of sawflies belonging to the families Argidae Pamphiliidae and Tenthredinidae have been registered. The 42 species that were found, as many as 19 (or 45.23%) are new for the entomofauna of Serbia and Montenegro. Of these 19 species, one belongs to a genus newly recorded on our territory (the genus Cephaleia). The dominant family is the family Tenthredinidae, to which 38 of the registered species belong. Tenthredinidae represents one of the external feeders of the most diverse superfamily, Tenthredinoidea, with diverse host plant utilization. In this study, four complete mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes), those of Cladiucha punctata, Cladiucha magnoliae, Megabeleses magnoliae, and Megabeleses liriodendrovorax, are newly sequenced and comparatively analyzed with previously reported tenthredinid mitogenomes. The close investigation of mitogenomes and the phylogeny of Tenthredinidae leads us to the following conclusions: The subfamilial relationships and phylogenetic placements within Tenthredi

The relevance of the study. Apple sawfly (Hoplocampa testudinea Klug), black plum (Hoplocampa minuta Christ.) and yellow plum (Hoplocampa flava L.) sawflies (Hymenoptera, Symphyta, Tenthredinidae) are serious and widespread pests of apple and plum fruits. Dock sawfly (Ametastegia glabrata Fall.) is a non-specialized apple pest and its larvae feed generally on leaves of Chenopodium sp. and Polygonum sp.; however, occasionally mature fruits at harvest are found damaged by larvae of this insect. Abstract The life cycle of the sawfly Pontania proxima (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) which induces bean galls on the willow Salix triandra L. is comparatively simple when compared with many insect species that form galls. It has therefore been possible to establish an experimental laboratory system to induce galls and monitor their development.

Abstract:
Abstract Cleptines are generally medium-sized (usually 4–6 mm long) chrysidids. They can be immediately recognized by the convex face, robust mandibles with two or more teeth, and pronotum medially narrowed with a transverse sulcus. The abdomen has a convex venter and five visible segments in males, four in females. These wasps are generally rare but may be locally abundant due to outbreaks of their hosts. They are parasitic on the prepupal larvae of tenthredinid sawflies.

Invasive non-native insect species are well-known threat to both local and introduced plant species in Europe. With increasing global trade and effects of climate change it is expected these alien species will continue to expand their distribution areas. One such non-native species is azalea sawfly Nematus lipovskyi Smith, 1974 (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) that feeds on deciduous Rhododendron spp. This species is known to occur in the USA and was found in the Czech Republic for the first time in Europe in 2010.
