Abstract:
A component of a specialist’s success in a modern labor market is a level of his professional speech, skillful grasp of terminological vocabulary which testifies deep understanding of professional conceptions and phenomena, communication standards in general.Terminological competency as a component of professional competence reflects readiness and ability of a specialist to demonstrate appropriate personal features in situations of professional communication, mobilizing knowledge of professional terminology, skills and experience to use terms in oral and written professional speech with accuracy and linguistic correctness according to regulatory requirements. As far as a term is a word of a standard language and terminology is a part of a language system as one of its subsystems, correspondingly all main lexico-semantic processes of a standard language are available in terminology within margins which don’t violate semantic definiteness of a term.Linguistic professional competence is directly connected with the problem of formation, standardization and codification of Ukrainian national terminology, which has came into a new stage of its development. Working with terminology of a certain branch, it is necessary to learn those processes and changes which are going on in a national terminology under influence of linguistic and extra linguistic factors.Taking into account a remarkable role of terminology in professional activities, search of new methods and organizational forms of studies of mentioned range of problems are important.

Abstract:
The article focuses on the professional communication of future IT professionals. It is emphasized that today, even at the household level, users of personal computers and laptops use special terminology, and sometimes specific slang, which testifies to the current speech of future IT professionals. Recently, many modern dictionaries have appeared, including dictionaries of programmers, which indicate not only terms but also interpretations of new words, sometimes a combination of Ukrainian and English word formations. The article provides examples of word terms, as well as a tabular version of the translation of words from English and the interpretation of computer terms. The most popular or most commonly used terms and concepts understood by a beginner PC were taken into account. The scientific publication reveals the peculiarities of using dictionaries for online programmers. It is pointed out that recently in the Internet space you can find links to electronic resources, which contain terms that can be used in professional communication by IT professionals. The study found that IT terminology often duplicates computer slang. This is due to the lack of self-designation of terms used in the communication of programmers or IT professionals. The study points to certain words (slang), which are most often borrowed from English. Such terms are not even translated into Ukrainian. They usually need to be memorized and used in the professional activities of a person working with information technology.

Abstract:
The article reveals the essence of the following concepts: “competence”, “professional competence”, “professional terminological competence”, “terminological competence of future economic specialists”. The peculiarities of the formation of terminological competence, as a mandatory component of professional training of students of economic education, are highlighted by the author. In particular, the author considers the system of general and professional knowledge as an important component of a competitive specialist, and the level of his professional speech involves mastery of terminological vocabulary. The problem of the formation of professional terminological competence of future specialists in scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists is analysed. The current state of formation of the studied competence in students of economic specialities in higher education institutions is traced in the article. The results of the theoretical study allowed us to formulate the definition of “terminological competence of future specialists in economics”: the ability to accurately, clearly and appropriately use economic terms in the process of professional activity, clearly operate professional terminology, be able to use business management tools, have professional ways to exchange information, use basic methods of information exchange principles of business communication. The author outlines the peculiarities of forming the foundations of terminological competence of future economic specialists. Possible ways of increasing the efficiency of terminological vocabulary formation of future specialists are identified. It is proved that the economic terminology system, as well as the terminology of another field of knowledge, is structured using a number of paradigms, such as synonymous, antonymous, paronymic, homonymous. It is concluded that the given exceptional role of terminology in professional activities is important in order to find new methods and organizational forms of training for economic education. Keywords: formation; competence; terminology; terminological lexis; terminological competence; specialists of economic profile; professional training; institution of higher education.

Abstract:
This thesis sets off on examining terminological conventionalities and specialized collocations in a research article corpus in English in the Computer Science area containing around 400 thousand words/tokens. Then, we investigate the pedagogical ramifications of these elements in a context of English for Specific Purposes courses in the area of Informatics/Computer Science in the Federal Institutions of Professional Education in Brazil. The survey and analysis of lexical-terminological patterns from the corpus was performed with computational support, and according to Corpus Linguistics as well as Communicative Theory of Terminology framework. Once we verified the terminological relevance and pedagogical potential of the terminological occurrences and collocations in the corpus compiled, we proposed terminological-pedagogical aid for English research article reading, which includes a proposal of basic design of an educational app for smartphones and tablets access. This research also examines terminological and pedagogical needs involved in this educational context, highlighting differences between students in technical courses and technological courses. Overall, this investigation has found possible and productive to take terminological description data as well as pattern descriptions from a corpus to a didactic-pedagogical scenario of ESP in Professional Education, once this is settled by a range of theoretical considerations from Terminology studies to Foreign Language Teaching studies.

Abstract:
This PhD dissertation is the result of an ongoing process aimed at the creation of a bilingual corpus-based specialised active dictionary of the ceramic industry, with the Communicative Theory of Terminology (CTT) as its mainstay. According to the grounding principles of the CTT, this research has departed form a corpus-based approach in which terms have been analysed in vivo and characterised from the natural habitat in which they are given in specialised communication/discourse. In this light, it has been put forward how the study of terms – made possible thanks to the activity of compiling and describing them, called terminography – may be complemented by the wider projection of specialised lexicography for the compilation and elaboration of LSP, user-oriented and user-friendly quality products in the form of dictionaries. This specialised lexicographical dimension of the work has necessarily implied the need to renew the concept of speciality language dictionaries applied to the ceramic industry and has given way to the creation of a (prospective) active dictionary in this field with a marked emphasis on context. Accordingly, the importance of pragmatic aspects in a work of this sort, has made it necessary to undertake an in-depth revision and analysis of the socio-economic context for the research in order be able to establish and solve the specific terminological needs that the ceramic industrial discourse community may find. On the basis of this theoretical framework, the method of study followed for the development of the prospective dictionary has comprised 8 broad stages: the stage of work preparation and corpus compilation, the elaboration of the field diagram, the stage of documentary corpus management, term extraction, data processing, revision and normalisation and finally, the edition stage. Two main types of results have been presented: those obtained through work in progress in the different stages of the method and final ones strictly speaking, that is, 4,000 English-Spanish entries in their final format (as they will appear in the prospective dictionary) belonging to the letters A, B, N, O, U and V of a complete dictionary which will include a total of 26,000 entries.

Abstract:
This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, whose goal was to develop the teaching of Nursing Process (NP) in a public University Hospital and University of Southern Brazil, from the perspective of teachers and nurses. Data were collected during May 2010 through the semi-structured interview with eight participants, four professors of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) – a local federal university–, and four nurses of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). The participants’ choice was intentional and aimed to cover professionals with experience in the different NP generations. The information collected was analyzed according to the content analysis technique of the thematic type, from which emerged three categories named Facilities, Difficulties and Strategies of Teaching Nursing Process, each one with subcategories. In the first category (Facilities) was highlighted the importance of NP being included in obligatory and non obligatory activities; to possess a University Hospital with NP implemented and computerized, allowing the experience of students in practical activities since the beginning of their training and the facility of use of technological resources that have improved the effectiveness of nursing work in care. Another relevant aspect is the qualification of professors and nurses about the NP, which contributes to the exercise of teaching with quality. In the second category (Difficulties), the participants expressed lack of knowledge, motivation and disbelief about the use of the NP; they either detected the lack of theoretical basis in their application, the disbelief of their own professors and students in relation to this methodology, the insufficient preparation during the Undergraduate Nursing Course, the lack of interest from future nurses to develop themselves professionally, and also the inadequate recording of some stages of NP, such as lack of nursing diagnosis, the decoupling between theory and clinical practice found in other fields of practice that do not use the NP, and the resistance of nurses to adopt this methodology. In the last category (Strategies for teaching NP), were detached Case Study and Virtual Learning Environment by fostering the development of critical thinking and the diagnostic process of the student, encouraging knowledge construction. These results can contribute to professors of others Institutions of Undergraduate Nursing to reflect on their teaching practices, in order to improve the teaching of NP in theory and clinical practice, as well as make contributions to the development of Mozambican reality.

Abstract:
We have studied the vocabulary of Champagne wine tasting from a linguistic point of view. Our study is based on the analysis of a corpus of texts produced by wine-tasting professionals. This work is divided into three parts. First, in order to define the subject matter of this thesis, a study of the nature of perception judgments produced during wine-tasting sessions was made. For this purpose two different points of view were put together ; on the one hand the philosophical approach of J. Bouveresse, who dealt with the relationship between perception and language in this book +langage, perception et realite ; and on the other hand the technical approach of the oenologist E. Peynaud. The second part of this research is devoted to the analysis of a corpus gathered during champagne tasting sessions. Two software tools helped to analyse data and the results were then interpreted according to different points of view. In this second part the emphasis is put on description and interpretation. The last part is the theoretical one. It deals with the meaning of linguistic units used to describe our perception during wine tasting. F. Rastier's theory of differential semantics has been chosen to enlighten the complex nature of the lexicon used in this domain. Finally, more specific linguistic phenomena, observed in wine tasting texts, such as denomination and qualification have, been studied. All through this thesis an inductive process has been favoured. First data were analysed and then results were supported by theoretical arguments

Some VLE’s potential contributions to the organization of terminological work of future biology teachers’ throughout a traditional classroom teaching, an independent work, and during the field practices has been considered. The content of professionally oriented e-courses “Botany with Basis of Geobotany” and “Latin. Botany Terminology” has been revealed; the ways of working with online definer (guide), with UkrBIN National Biodiversity Information Network, with mobile apps for determining the plant species, with digital virtual herbarium, with free software have been shown. The content of students’ activity in virtual biological laboratories and during virtual tours into natural environment has been demonstrated. The explanations about the potential of biological societies in social networks in view of students’ terminology work have been given. According to the results of empirical research, the expediency of using VLEs in the study of professional terminology by future biology teachers has been confirmed.
