Abstract:
Dynamical behavior of a vivax malaria model is provided and regular recurrences of the symptoms of the tertian fever are described in the human body. We calculate the basic reproduction number R0 and explain the connection between the basic reproduction number and the parasite-threshold. If R0 < 1, then plasmodium vivax will be eliminated. If R0 > 1, then malarial parasites are survivable and there is a so called parasite-threshold. When the value of the parasites is larger than this parasite-threshold the symptoms of the tertian fever appear; otherwise, if the value of the parasites is less than this parasite-threshold the tertian fever cannot give signs of the symptoms suddenly in vivo. We illustrate that the gravity of infected baby is worse than that of infected grownup and also explain that the advancing of the vivax malaria can be arrested by eliminating malarial parasites in erythrocyte stage with clinical treatment by numerical simulations.

Sundberg, Sara. "Kunskap är makt : Kenyanska internatskolepojkars syn på kvinnors tertiära utbildning." Thesis, Karlstads universitet, Fakulteten för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap (from 2013), 2014. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kau:diva-30982.

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the attitude of Kenyan boarding school boys in secondary schoolregarding higher education for women from a global, national and personal perspective. The questionsasked were: “How does the boys reason regarding higher education for women from a global, nationaland personal perspective?”, “How are gender equality issues expressed in the syllabus and Vision 2030aims?” and lastly “How can the boy’s reasoning be understood regarding these opinions?”. Six boyswere interviewed and two documents regulating the management of the school were chosen for a literarystudy, both from a convenience selection. The boys believed that it was a good thing for Kenya and for the world as a whole that women studied atuniversities since that enabled the usage of the intellectual assets of the entire population. The personalmotives were focused on the fact that the woman could provide an extra income for the family, but alsothat a highly educated wife meant that they as a couple could interact on a more even level intellectually. Two of the boys meant that a highly educated wife meant a higher social status. Several of the boysagreed that the wife should not have a higher education than her husband since that meant that sheseemed to be the head of the family. The person with the highest level of education in the family is thusthe one with the most power in the marriage. The boys’ opinions could be explained by their own mother’s high level of education which made themaccustomed to highly educated women, they were all from high income or medium income families whowere more dependent on monetary income rather than farming, and lastly they were part of a moreaccepting culture that’s connected to city life. In the school management documents, there was morefocus on national unity rather than gender, but what was there was primarily regarding gender parityrather than gender equality.

Menkens, Anne Elizabeth 1958. "Characterization of T4 tertiary origins." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1988. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/282091.

Full text
Abstract:
The bacteriophage T4 utilizes at least three modes of initiation of replication, termed primary, secondary and tertiary (Mosig, 1983; Kreuzer and Alberts, 1985). Two origins of replication have been isolated that utilize the tertiary mode of initiation. The DNA sequence requirements of the two tertiary origins have been characterized at the nucleotide level. Maximal replication of each origin-containing plasmid required both an intact gpmotA-dependent middle-mode promoter sequence and approximately 50 basepairs of the downstream region. In contrast, gpmotA-dependent transcription from the origin promoter was found to be independent of the downstream region. The requirement for a promoter element within the tertiary origins is striking, particularly since the replication of tertiary origin-containing plasmids is resistant to the RNA polymerase inhibitor rifampicin.

Abstract:
The database for Alloy 800H was reviewed with respect to the initiation of tertiary creep and subsequent rupture. Data covered temperatures in the range of 600 to 1000°C and times to 100,000 hours. The establishment of the time to initiate tertiary creep presented a problem because of the non-classical behavior of creep often exhibited in the creep curves. Stress values based on the current tertiary creep and rupture criteria were compared for several heats of material considering both classical and non-classical creep data. Fits to tertiary creep showed more scatter and it was found that 80% of the minimum stress for tertiary creep was generally lower than 67% of the minimum stress to rupture. Using only data from classical curves did produce stress values higher than those from the rupture criterion.

Abstract:
As stated in the literature, the educational level of the population is a precursor to the economic growth of the country. However, the current problem is the leakage of highly qualified labour abroad due to insufficient job opportunities or weak financial rewards in the home country. The state's investment in tertiary education becomes irreversible. In this context, the aim of the paper is to identify whether there are disparities in the highly qualified workforce in terms of funding and numbers between the countries of the European Union. The subject of the research is public expenditure on tertiary education (% of GDP per capita) and the share of tertiary educated population in the country (% of the total population of the country). In the paper we use data collected for the period 2011 – 2020. For this reason, they are the subject of research of the countries of the European Union, including the United Kingdom. To identify disparities, we use the method of absolute β-convergence, supplemented by σ-convergence, linear regression, and cluster analysis. The results show that when evaluating public spending on tertiary education, there are disparities when economically strong European countries will diverge. When examining the share of the tertiary educated population, there is a convergence of countries. However, disparities occur in terms of employment of women and men up to 1-3 years after tertiary education.

Full text
Abstract:
Substantial seismic and well data have been gathered and used for the exploration and exploitation of the Salawati Basin since the 1970s. The interpretation of these data and implementation of findings resulted into several discoveries and producing fields associated with the Tertiary petroleum system of Klasafet-Kais, particularly in the Walio Area. The presence of pre-Tertiary petroleum systems remain speculative to date although numerous pre-Tertiary structural and stratigraphic traps can be defined, and hypothetical sourcing can be inferred to origin from shales of the Permo-Triassic Aifam Group and the Late Jurassic – Late Cretaceous Kembelangan Formation. Yet the actual hydrocarbon charging of those traps has not been proven. Surface geochemical surveys were conducted in the Walio Area with the objective to characterize the origin of hydrocarbons of the area and possibly uncover the presence of a pre-Tertiary source. Pre-Tertiary sediments are encountered in three exploration wells of the Walio Area and pre-Tertiary traps were defined by the interpretation of 3D seismic. Surface geochemical surveys were conducted in the Walio Area to map the distribution of oil and gas microseeps and try to determine their source. Whole oil chromatography and isotope & biomarker analysis were also performed on Kais reservoired oil samples to determine source rock lithology, depositional environment, and age. Hydrocarbon analysis of one-meter-deep soil samples revealed the distribution of volatile and liquid hydrocarbon microseeps in the survey area. Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Rock-Eval Pyrolysis measurement was carried out to outcrop samples of the Klasafet Fm., Kembelangan Fm., Tipuma Fm., and Aifat Fm. The outcrop samples resulted in lean TOC, and produced very low S2 values to which the Tmax cannot be estimated. Hydrocarbon microseeps were found occurring over and off existing fields and pre-Tertiary traps. Both light oil microseeps (35° API) and heavy oil microseeps (14° API) were identified over fresh and biodegraded crude oil Kais reservoirs, respectively in the Walio Area. Microseeps with lighter hydrocarbon compositions (e.g. C5/C17 ratio) may reflect leakage from deeper pre-Tertiary sources.

In ASME 2009 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition. ASMEDC, 2009. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/imece2009-13252.

Full text
Abstract:
A computational model is established to simulate the combustion and thermal-flow behavior inside a petcoke rotary calcining kiln. The results show that peak temperature is located at the tertiary air zone and a cold region that exists between the natural gas combustion zone and the tertiary air zone causes the coke bed to lose heat to the gas stream. The cold tertiary air injections reduce the gas temperature inside the kiln, so preheating the tertiary air using extracted gas or other waste energy is essential to saving energy. The devolatilization rate and location have a pronounced effect on the simulated temperature distribution. As the calcining kiln rotates, the tertiary air injection nozzles will move relative to the coke bed and exert cyclic air-bed interactions. At zero angular position, the air injection nozzles are diametrically located away from the bed, so the interactions between the tertiary air jets and coke bed are minimal. As the kiln rotates to a 180-degree position, the stem of the air injection nozzles are actually buried inside the coke bed with the nozzles protruding outward from the bed. At this position, the tertiary air jets will provide a fresh layer of air just above the coke bed, and the interaction between the air flow and coke bed becomes strong. The 45° rotational angle case shows a better calcination with a 100 K higher bed surface temperature at the discharge end compared to the rest of rotational angles. Without including the coke fines combustion and the coke bed, the lumped gas temperature for the rotational cases shows a peak temperature of 1,400 K at Z/D = 2, which is due to natural gas combustion; the lowest temperature is around 1,075 K at two locations, Z/D = 4 and 8, respectively. The exhaust gas temperature is approximately 1,100K.

Full text
Abstract:
Creep deformation property of Grade 91 steels was analyzed on more than 370 creep curves over a wide range of time to rupture from about 10 hours to beyond 100,000 hours, in order to evaluate time to 1% total strain, time to minimum creep rate and time to initiation of tertiary creep. Time to initiation of tertiary creep was assessed as a 0.2% offset with a slope of minimum creep rate. It is difficult to determine time to minimum creep rate precisely, which is a basis of 0.2% offset, however, it has been confirmed that time to initiation of tertiary creep is not sensitive to the time when the creep rate indicates minimum value. Life ratio of 1% total strain time against creep rupture time increases up to about 60% with increase of temperature and decrease of stress. Life ratio of time to initiation of tertiary creep also tends to increase with decrease in stress. However, change of it is in a range of 50 to 60% of creep rupture life over a wide range of creep rupture life from 10 hours to 100,000 hours, and it is not sensitive to creep test temperature. Over a range of temperatures from 500 to 600°C and up to about 200,000 hours, a temperature and time-dependent stress intensity limit, St is controlled by 67% of minimum stress to rupture. However, a difference between 67% of minimum stress to rupture and 80% of minimum stress to initiation of tertiary creep decreases with increases in temperature and time, and both values approach each other in the long-term beyond about 100,000 hours at 600°C. In the long-term beyond about 10,000 hours at 650°C, St is controlled by 80% of minimum stress to initiation of tertiary. The stable life fraction of time to initiation of tertiary creep establish a reliability of a temperature and time-dependent stress intensity limit value.

Abstract:
Background: Tertiary hypertension prevention is an effort to prevent hypertensive patients from disabilities and complications, which lead to improve their quality of life. The biopsychosocial aspect influences individual behavior in maintaining blood pressure. This study aimed to analyze the biopsychosocial determinants of tertiary prevention behavior in hypertensive patients. Subjects and Method: A cross sectional study was conducted at 25 integrated health posts (posbindu) in Sragen, Central Java. A sample of 200 hypertensive patients was selected by stratified random sampling. The dependent variable was tertiary hypertension preventive behavior. The independent variables were attitude, observational learning, role model, imitation, vicarious learning, reinforcement, self-efficacy, self-regulation, and outcome expectation. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Tertiary hypertension preventive behavior increased with observational learning (b= 1.83; 95% CI= 0.31 to 3.35; p= 0.018), role model (b= 1.95; 95% CI= 0.75 to 3.16; p= 0.001), imitation (b= 2.13; 95% CI= 0.89 to 3.38; p= 0.001), vicarious learning (b= 1.60; 95% CI= 0.23 to 2.96; p= 0.022), reinforcement (b= 2.86; 95% CI= 1.25 to 4.47; p<0.001), self-efficacy (b= 1.99; 95% CI= 0.73 to 3.25; p= 0.002), self-regulation (b= 1.39; 95% CI= 0.18 to 2.61; p= 0.024), outcome expectation (b= 2.37; 95% CI= 0.85 to 3.89; p= 0.002), and positive attitude (b= 1.76; 95% CI= 0.40 to 3.13; p=0.011). Conclusion: Tertiary hypertension preventive behavior increases with observational learning, role model, imitation, vicarious learning, reinforcement, self-efficacy, self-regulation, outcome expectation, and positive attitude. Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: The incidence of hypertension in Indonesia has remained high. Tertiary prevention of hypertension in hypertensive patients is needed to improve their knowledge toward hypertension, health belief, the practice of life-style modification, and the ability to control blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to examine factors affecting tertiary preventive behaviors among patients with high blood pressure. Subjects and Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out at 25 integrated health posts (posbindu) in Surakarta, Centra Java, from September to October 2019. A sample of 200 hypertensive patients was selected by stratified random sampling. The dependent variable was tertiary preventive behavior. The independent variables were education, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavior control, intention, cadre support, and peer support. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a mutiple logistic regression. Results: Tertiary preventive behaviors in hypertensive patients increased with education ≥Senior high school (OR= 3.58; 95% CI= 1.62 to 7.90; p= 0.002), positive attitude (OR= 4.01; 95% CI= 1.69 to 9.54; p= 0.002), supportive subjective norm (OR= 3.88; 95% CI= 1.65 to 9.16; p= 0.002), strong perceived behavior control (OR= 2.86; 95% CI= 1.24 to 6.59; p= 0.013), strong intention (OR= 2.44; 95% CI= 1.13 to 5.26; p= 0.023), strong cadre support (OR= 4.59; 95% CI= 2.07 to 10.18; p<0.001), and strong peer support (OR= 3.77; 95% CI= 1.68 to 8.42; p= 0.001). Conclusion: Tertiary preventive behaviors in hypertensive patients increases with education ≥Senior high school, positive attitude, supportive subjective norm, strong perceived behavior control, strong intention, strong cadre support, and strong peer support.
