Full textThe purpose of this study was to determine the reliability and validity of the Dot Counting Test as a measure of feigned cognitive performance. Archival neuropsychological test data from a “real world” sample of 147 credible and 328 non-credible patients were compared. The Dot Counting Test E-score cutoff of ≥ 17 continued to show excellent specificity (93%). However, sensitivity dropped from approximately 74% documented in 2002 to 51% in the current sample. When the cutoff was lowered to ≥ 15, adequate specificity was maintained (90%) and sensitivity rose to (61%). However, a third of credible patients with borderline IQ failed the test using the Dot Counting Test E-cutoff score, indicating cautious use of the test with individuals who likely have borderline intelligence.

Full textIn this thesis, we propose the testing approaches for web service composition. We focus on unit, integrated testing of an orchestration of web services and also the runtime verification aspect. We defined an unit testing framework for an orchestration that is composed of a test architecture, a conformance relation and two proposed testing approaches based on Timed Extended Finite State Machine (TEFSM) model: offline which test activities as timed test case generation, test execution and verdict assignment are applied in sequential, and online which test activities are applied in parallel. For integrated testing of an orchestration, we combines of two approaches: active and passive. Firstly, active approach is used to start a new session of the orchestration by sending a SOAP request. Then all communicating messages among services are collected and analyzed by a passive approach. On the runtime verification aspect, we are interested in the correctness of an execution trace with a set of defined constraints, called rules. We have proposed to extend the Nomad language, by defining the constraints on each atomic action (fixed conditions) and a set of data correlations between the actions to define the rules for web services. This language allows us to define a rule with future and past time, and to use the operations: NOT, AND, OR to combines some conditions into a context of the rule. Afterwards, we proposed an algorithm to check correctness of a message sequence in parallel with the trace collection engine. Specifically, this algorithm verifies message by message without storing them

Full textThe objective of this thesis is to ensure the proper behaviour of the functional aspects of web based systems. To achieve this goal, we proposed two different test approaches: the active approach and the passive approach. Our goal is to automatically generate a suite of active test scenarios that will be applied on a system under test to examine its compliance with respect to its functional specification, and, when interrupting the normal flow of operation is problematic, to observe the system under test with passive testing. The goal of this work is developing a method and a set of tools to test web based systems using the active and passive testing approaches. Concerning the active testing approach, we present a methodology to cover the end-to-end testing process (from building the model until the test execution). This work tackles the gap between, on the one hand, generating abstract test cases from abstract models and, on the other hand, developing methods allowing concretizing these tests and automatically applying them on a real applications. Then, concerning the passive test approach, we present a methodology and a new tool for observing the behaviour of the communications of the web applications with external web services (for SOA based web applications) in order to check whether the observed behaviour is correct. All the methodologies and tools presented in this work are applied on two industrial case studies, Mission Handler and Travel Reservation Service, in order to validate our contributions in active and passive testing respectively

Full textThe purpose of the study is to investigate accuracy of the Arnold et al. Finger Tapping cut-offs in a new, large sample of “real world” credible and non-credible male and female patients. The purpose of the research is to cross-validate cut-offs for use of the Finger Tapping Test as a performance validity measure. The original cut-offs were published by Arnold et al. (2005) and it is important to cross-validate cut-offs on new populations to show that specificity/sensitivity data are stable and replicable. The data used from the archival data set are finger tapping test scores, age, educational level, gender, ethnicity, diagnosis, compensation-seeking status (whether or not the person is in a lawsuit or attempting to obtain disability), and scores on other performance validity tests used for assigning subjects to credible and noncredible groups.

Full textTo achieve optimal resource sharing and enhance the sustainability of energy supply, the need for cross-border power transmission is continuously growing. Therefore, frequent information exchange with detailed grid data is required. To standardize such exchange and thus to facilitate common power system studies in Europe, the Common Grid Model Exchange Standard (CGMES) based on IEC CIM (Common Information Models) was issued by ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission Operators for Electricity) in 2013. A CGMES conformity assessment process was also set up to encourage and examine the adoption of CGMES with relevant power system applications. The main purpose of this thesis is to validate that the Network Manager product of ABB has implemented CGMES properly. Power flow calculations are performed based on ENTSO-E’s test networks and the solutions obtained are compared with the standard results as well as the results from Power Factory (a power system analysis tool from DIgSILENT that has already passed the conformity assessment successfully). The comparison results are analyzed thus to identify causes of any variation from the standard power flow solutions and to give suggestions for future development of Network Manager.

Full textHealth monitoring during flight tests provides a means of data validation in flight. It is possible to design a data acquisition system such that the available instruments incorporate redundancy through analytic relationships. This analytic redundancy may be exploited in order to assess individual sensor system health and to validate accuracy claims. A practical example is presented in which an air data set is compared with GPS in order to isolate failures in the pressure and temperature transducers.

Full textThe author tries to validate Jean Pinatel's concept of criminal personality through the rorschach test and considers its clinical operationalization. He relates the results of this test to the criminological evolution in a sample of 808 subjects having stayed in institutions. He also carries out three sharp clinical studies. The results do not invalidate Jean Pinatel's theory, but they show, through a factor analysis, three indicators of "violence", "inhibition" and "banal socialization" which are linked to the delinquent evolution. On the clinical level, the author checks the possible use of these three indicators and emphasizes the interest of the concepts of N. Rausch de Traubenberg's self-image scale and L. Cassiers's symbolic elaboration indicator. He concludes by proposing the expression of a "criminal-sensitive configuration" of the personality and advocates the development of an integrative clinic

Full textThis thesis aimed at contributing to the topic of construct validity of the Implicit Association Test (IAT, Greenwald, McGhee, & Schwartz, 1998), considered as a prejudice measure. Although the IAT is currently employed for both research and applied purposes, the mechanism underlying the IAT effect is not yet fully understood. We adopted an experimental approach of the IAT construct validity in order to improve the comprehension of the IAT functioning. The IAT task was adapted to the French social context, where the North African minority is most frequently the target of prejudice. Considered together, Experiments 2, 3, 4 and 5 suggested that the IAT experimental situation has a threatening potential through the transparency of its purpose. The consequence would be an artificial inflation of the positive IAT effects (in the sense of in-group preferences). Experiments 6 and 7 confirmed that attention processes implied by binary categorisations could account, at least partially, for the IAT effect. Furthermore, we predicted that due to participant inclusion in one of the two target categories (i. E. , French versus North-African), categorisation of stimuli related to the "Self" may be an available heuristic with an important contribution to positive IAT effects reflecting in-group favouritism. Experiments 8 and 9 are consistent with this prediction. In addition, Experiment 1 demonstrated that personal characteristics such as age, education and ethnicity could exert their own influence on the IAT effect. The weights of the factors leading to the IAT effect is not yet established and, thus, undermine the construct validity of the IAT, considered as a diagnostic tool of prejudice. To conclude, we are arguing that IAT validation as a test (versus procedure) requests a clear specification of the contribution of all IAT components (i. E. , material, instructions, population and experimental conditions) to the IAT effect
