Test case prioritization schedules the test cases in an order that increases the effectiveness in achieving some performance goals. One of the most important performance goals is the rate of fault detection. Test cases should run in an order that increases the possibility of fault detection and also detects the most severe faults at the earliest in its testing life cycle. Test case prioritization techniques have proved to be beneficial for improving regression testing activities. While code coverage based prioritization techniques are found to be studied by most scholars, test case prioritizat

Regression testing makes sure that upgradation of software in terms of adding new features or for bug fixing purposes should not hamper previously working functionalities. For achieving this, all existing test cases need to run as well as new test cases might be required to be created. Combinatorial testing has been widely used in practice. People usually assume all test cases in combinatorial test suite will run completely. However, in many scenarios where combinatorial testing is needed, for example the regression testing, the entire combinatorial test suite is not run completely as a result of test resource constraints. To improve the efficiency of testing, combinatorial test case prioritization technique is required. For the scenario of regression testing, this paper proposes a new cost-cognizant combinatorial test case prioritization technique, which takes both combinat

Software testing is an extremely important phase of product development where the objective is to detect hidden bugs. The usually high complexity of today’s products makes the testing very resource intensive since numerous test cases have to be generated in order to detect all potential faults. Therefore, improved strategies of the testing process is of high interest for many companies. One area where there exists potential for improvement is the order by which test cases are executed to detect faults as quickly as possible, which in research is known as the test case prioritization problem. Running automated tests can be a time-consuming task, especially when doing regression testing. If the sequence of the execution of the test cases is arbitrary, there is a good chance that many of the defects are not detected until the end of the test run. If the developer could get the failing tests first, he would almost immediately be able to get back to coding or correcting mistakes. In order to achieve this, we designed and analyzed a set of test case prioritization techniques. Having identified important test cases, software testers can manage the testing schedule more effectively by running such test cases earlier so that they can detect then fix faults sooner, especially, in regression testing. Human rights must sometimes be restricted to further social interests or the rights of others. Yet, we like to think that human rights are not reducible to interests like security and cannot be weighed and balanced against them. This position holds a middle ground between Kantian absolutism and prioritization of rights and utilitarian consequentialism and weighing and balancing of rights. It reflects the sheer theoretical difficulty of accounting for moral trade-offs that are not quantitative.
