Abstract:
White light interferometry is a well-developed and very old technique for optical measurements. The thesis describes the design of a vertical scan interferometer system to study the surface topography of surfaces down to nanometers. The desired properties of the system are its simplicity, portability and compact size, making it suitable for use in general labs and for educational purposes. By acquiring a sequence of images of the deformed fringe pattern, the surface topography can be observed, giving greater understanding of the surface roughness. The principle behind the system is coherence p

Abstract:
System-on-Chips are getting more complex every day, making manufacturing test constantly more challenging. As chip size is increasing, a divide and conquer approach is tackled, through a core-based methodology, using Synopsys Design-for-Test (DfT) state of the art features. This document deals with flows implementing such architectures. A wrapping core flow is proposed, limiting ports impact, thanks to compression feature. A full automated flow is proposed, as well as one offering more test possibilities, implementing wrapper bypass paths for full custom tests. Then a top-down flow is presente

Abstract:
This habilitation introduces the question-learn-test-feedback pattern that resulted from a series of investigations in the domains of software testing and modular software construction. The contributions to these fields are of various natures, but are all fundamentally related through two major assumptions: software construction paradigms have to constantly evolve in order to deal with the increasingly complex requirements that software-intensive systems have to meet; a tester's perspective can support this evolution through the development of effective testing techniques and new empirical kno
