Full textThis dissertation had the goal of analyzing the adequacy of the KTK test (Motor Coordination for Children Test) to the modern concept of Intellectual Deficiency (ID) and to motor programs based in the Ecological Task Analysis Model (ETA). The analysis was done using reflexive procedures, it was a philosophical research. For doing the analysis, first of all we presented a literature review that covered the most important concepts of ID adopted globally, the ETA model and questions concerning motor tests, including the description of the KTK model. After that, we presented the analysis discussing what is expected from a motor test for ID and what is expected from a motor test when we intend to base the motor intervention in the ETA model. The main characteristics of the KTK are also presented and then a qualitative analysis about these characteristics presented in each item. We then conclude that the KTK test is not in adequacy to be used in elaboration and valuation of motor programs for ID based on the ETA, although it has some few characteristics that are in line with what we understand to be necessary to be contemplated in a motor test with this kind of goal

Full textThis study had as objective to determine the structure of sport performance through the anthropometric and biomotor adaptations on the athletes from the male volleyball team during the macrocycle of under-19 Brazillian National Team in preparation to the 2005 world championship. The sample was composed of 12 athletes (17.76±0.71 years old). Training volume analysis was according to the manuscripts recorded by the coaches. The athletes were tested in three different moments and the measured variables were organized as followed: Training volume quantification; anthropometry (height, body mass, sum of seven skinfolds, % body fat); muscle power of the upper extremities ( 3 kg medicine ball throwing ); muscle power or the lower extremities ( squat jump. countermovement jump, attack and block height, attack and block vertical jumping height); shuttle test for agility ( 30 m) and shuttle test for speed resistance (78 m); abdominal strength (situps 30 s). The linear model for repeated measures was used to verify the influence of training time exposure on the adaptations on the performance; the factorial analysis of the mean components was used to analyze and explain the correlations among the variables. The results presented the following distribution for training volume: physical conditioning (94.92 hours – 31.35%); technical practices (79.83 hours – 36.32%), tactical training (125.72 hours – 41.53%) and psychological training (2.25 hours – 0.74%). Related to the measured variables and the influence of the training in the mean changes, it was identified values with observational power superior to 99.9% to the variables height (F=93.15, p=0.000) and shuttle test for agility (F=26.08, p=0.000); 98,9% attack height (F=14.60, p=0.000); 97,4% shuttle test for speed resistance (F=12.50, p=0.002); 96,3 % block height (F=11.54, p=0.003); 91,1% block vertical jump (F=9.06, p=0.006); 89,7% body mass (F=8.64, p=0.007); 86,3% abdominal strength (F=7.79, p=0.009); 58.8% attack vertical jump (F=4.12, p=0.050); 54,7% standing block height (F=3.75, p=0.061). The model of the principal components presented results that explained the total variability on each testing moment (92.15% moment 1; 91.22% moment 2; 85.95% moment 3). The time spent on training sessions and the quantification of the categories physical conditioning and technical practices demonstrated a highest volume at the preparatory period which aimed to promote adaptation on the athletes´ organism in order to prepare them to more intense work loads in direction to the competitive period. The adaptations occurred during the preparation revealed significant differences and high power of training volume influence in the anthropometric and biomotors variables. The model of sport performance demonstrated high percentage of variance at the three distinct testing moments, the first component (height and standing height for attack and block), body mass and specific jump tests (attack and block height). When identifying the inter-relation among the described variables, it is important to highlight the need to carefully deal with the tallest and consequently the strongest athletes.

Children with Down syndrome (DS) show slower development when compared to normal population of same age, and also reveal handicap in oral expression, cognition and psychomotricity. The quantitative assessment of the motor performance on upper limbs in children with DS is important to design strategies of early stimulation and adequate therapeutic approaches to this population. The scarceness of quantitative information and instruments to evaluate hand dexterity has motivated this study, which aims to evaluate manual dexterity of children and adolescents (7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 years) with DS, using the Box and Block Test (BBT). Although not originally developed to evaluate this particular population, the BBT was chosen for providing a quantitative evaluation, centered on the motor dexterity without complex cognitive requirements. It is a cheap and easy-to-apply test that needs no training and is of easy comprehension even for mentally handicapped persons. The result of manual dexterity is given in blocks per minute (BPM) transferred inside a two-division standardized box. Fifty children and adolescents of both genders with Down syndrome (DS group DSG) and 50 normal participants (control group CG) took part in the study. The BBT was applied individually to each participant in his/hers own school or institution, in towns of São Paulo state, after approval of the Ethics Committee. The results showed a drawback in the manual dexterity in the DSG when compared to CG. There was no statistically significant variation on the manual dexterity of DSG between ages 7 to 9 years compared to 14 and 15 years (7y = 30 BPM, 8y = 29 BPM, 9y = 29 BPM); (14y = 32 BPM, 15y = 34 BPM), revealing that there is almost no improvement in manual dexterity related to age in this group. Conversely, in CG an age-dependent improvement was observed (7y = 63 BPM, 8y = 66 BPM, 9y = 68 BPM, 14y = 80 BPM, 15y = 81 BPM). Moreover, we observed differences in the way participants of DSG grip the blocks, using thumb and middle finger (36%) versus 4% in CG. We conclude that the Box and Block Test is an objective and efficient solution to quantify manual dexterity of intellectually drawback population for its fast and qualified information, and for the easiness of application and comprehension by the participants.
O desenvolvimento da criança com síndrome de Down (SD) ocorre de forma mais lenta que a criança normal e apresenta prejuízo nas áreas de linguagem, cognição e psicomotricidade. A avaliação quantitativa do desempenho motor de membros superiores em crianças com SD é importante para estabelecer estratégias de estimulação precoce e condutas terapêuticas adequadas para esta população. A carência de resultados e instrumentos para avaliação quantitativa da destreza manual foi a motivação deste estudo, que tem por objetivo avaliar a destreza manual de crianças e adolescentes com SD nas idades de 7, 8, 9, 14 e 15 anos, utilizando para isso o Teste de Caixa e Blocos (TCB). Embora não tendo sido desenvolvido originalmente para esta população, o TCB foi escolhido por possibilitar uma avaliação quantitativa centrada na atividade motora, sem exigências cognitivas mais complexas. É um teste de fácil aplicação, barato, exige pouco treinamento para sua aplicação e é de fácil compreensão mesmo por populações com déficits intelectuais. O resultado da destreza é dado pelo número de blocos transferidos por minuto (BPM) dentro de uma caixa padronizada com duas divisões. Participaram do estudo 50 crianças e jovens com SD, de ambos os sexos, que compuseram o grupo estudado (GSD), e 50 sem a síndrome, que constituíram o grupo controle (GC). O teste foi aplicado individualmente para cada participante nas dependências das instituições colaboradoras no interior do Estado de São Paulo após aprovação do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Os resultados indicaram que há desvantagem na destreza manual dos participantes com SD quando comparados ao GC. Observou-se também que não houve alteração estatisticamente significativa na destreza manual para o GSD entre as idades de 7 a 9 anos em comparação com as idades de 14 e 15 anos (7a = 30 BPM, 8a = 29 BPM, 9a = 29 BPM), (14a = 32 BPM, 15a = 34 BPM), evidenciando que quase não há evolução na destreza manual com a idade neste grupo. Já para o GC essa evolução foi observada, com os resultados de destreza manual linearmente dependentes da idade dos participantes (7a = 63 BPM, 8a = 66 BPM, 9a = 68 BPM, 14a = 80 BPM, 15a = 81 BPM). Adicionalmente, foram observadas diferenças na forma de preensão dos blocos nos participantes do GSD, com a utilização da pinça entre os dedos polegar e médio em 36% dos casos contra 4% no GC. Conclui-se que o Teste de Caixa e Blocos é uma solução eficiente e objetiva para a quantificação da destreza manual em populações com déficits intelectuais, pela qualidade e rapidez da informação, e por ser de fácil aplicação e compreensão pelos avaliados.

This study evaluates the relationship between growth and development of a motor skill in children who practice basketball and indoor soccer from the ages of 6 to 13 years old, by means of a new protocol originated from the EUROFIT Tapping Plate test. 59 children from the ages of 6 to 13 years old took part in the present causal-comparative and correlational research, who were divided into two groups: 31 basketball practicers (18 boys and 13 girls) and 28 boys indoor soccer practicers. All the children were submitted to measuring arms breadth, application of the test for diagnosis of hand preference and application of the Tapping Plate test in two different forms: the first one was employed in accordance with the distance established in 80 cm and the time of accomplishment for the 25 cycles (T1) was verified, the second one was employed in accordance with the distance adjusted in relation to the age and the pre-established time of 20 seconds (T2). Descriptive statistics was used for the data analysis, the T- test of Student for the independent samples and linear correlation of Pearson. The results indicate that, in relation to arms breadth there is no significant difference between boys and girls from basketball, but there is a difference between boys from the two modalities. In relation to the performance in the tests T1 and T2, the girls from basketball performed better than the boys who, in turn, performed better than the indoor soccer boys. The data indicated low to moderate correlation between arms breadth and the performance in test T1, for p < 0,01 and low to moderate correlation between arms breadth and performance in test T2, for p <0,05, indicating significance in relation to the girls from the basketball and the boys from indoor soccer. This finding allows the inference that the new protocol (T2) evaluated with better reliability the relationship between growth and motor development than T1, which suggests to the manager of the Tapping Plate test that an adjustment of the distances between the signs should be made in accordance with the children s age group, considering the same group of subjects or between subjects who present a similar cultural background. In general, the data demonstrate a moderate correlation between T1 and T2, which enables the validity of the new protocol, proposing an alternate option to the traditional test to measure the speed of superior members.
Avalia a relação entre crescimento e desempenho de uma habilidade motora em crianças praticantes de basquete e futsal entre 6 a 13 anos de idade, por meio de um novo protocolo oriundo do teste de Golpeio de Placas do EUROFIT. Participaram desta pesquisa causal-comparativa e correlacional, 59 crianças de 6 a 13 anos de idade, divididas em dois grupos: 31 praticantes de basquete (18 meninos e 13 meninas) e 28 meninos praticantes de futsal. Todas as crianças foram submetidas à mensuração da envergadura, aplicação do teste para diagnóstico de preferência da mão e aplicação do teste de Golpeio de Placas de duas formas diferentes: a primeira foi aplicada conforme a distância fixada em 80 cm e verificado o tempo de execução para 25 ciclos (T1) e a segunda forma foi aplicada de acordo com distância ajustada em função da idade e tempo pré-fixado em 20 segundos (T2). Para o tratamento dos dados utilizou-se a estatística descritiva, teste t de Student para amostras independentes e correlação linear de Pearson. Os resultados indicaram que, em relação ao tamanho da envergadura, não há diferença significativa entre os meninos e as meninas do basquete, mas há diferença entre os meninos das duas modalidades. Quanto ao desempenho nos testes T1 e T2, as meninas do basquete tiveram desempenho melhor do que os meninos do basquete e esses foram melhores do que os meninos do futsal. Os dados apontaram correlação baixa a moderada entre o tamanho da envergadura e o desempenho no teste T1, para p < 0,01 e correlação baixa a moderada entre o tamanho da envergadura e o desempenho no teste T2, para p < 0,05, indicando significância nas meninas do basquete e nos meninos do futsal. Esse fato permite inferir que o novo protocolo (T2) avaliou com maior fidedignidade a relação entre crescimento e desempenho motor do que o T1, sugerindo assim que, ao administrar o teste de Golpeio de Placas, se faça o ajuste das distâncias entre as placas de acordo com a faixa etária da criança, considerando um mesmo grupo de sujeitos ou entre sujeitos que apresentam aspecto cultural similar. No geral, os dados apontaram uma correlação moderada entre T1 e T2, podendo-se considerar que o novo protocolo é válido, sugerindo assim, uma forma opcional ao teste tradicional para medir a velocidade de membros superiores.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: During middle childhood, cognitive, social, emotional and self-concept development is of importance, and prepares the child for the adaptation and challenges awaiting the child in adolescence. Visualmotor integration is described by various sources as playing an important role in the development of a child. Visual-motor integration is the child's ability to integrate visual perceptual skills with fine motor coordination. In order to assess visual-motor integration functioning, the Developmental Test of Visual- Motor Integration (VMJ) (Beery, 1989) is often applied. Considering visual-motor integration functioning as an integral part of the drawing task (Harris, 1963), the Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test (GHD) may also convey important information ofa child's visual-motor integration functioning. The primary aim of the present study was to determine the status of visual-motor integration functioning of the selected group of middle childhood children within the South African context, in order to identify possible delays. Visual-motor integration functioning was determined by the children's performance on GHD and the VMI. Academic achievement results were also reviewed to determine the chosen sample's status in this regard. The obtained results were analyzed and summarized in order to obtain information leading to the fulfillment of the primary aim. The secondary aim of the present study flows parallel to the primary aim, and was motivated by the need to discover an effective, child-friendly measurement tool of visual-motor integration, applicable at a young age, as to gain accurate knowledge of a child's visual-motor integration functioning. The secondary aim consisted of exploring a) the correlations (if any) between the results of the Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test (GHD) and the biographical variables of gender, chronological age and socioeconomic status, b) the correlations (if any) between the results of the Beery Developmental test of Visual-Motor Integration (VMI) and the above-mentioned variables, c) the correlations (if any) between academic achievement and the above-mentioned variables and test results, and d) the correlations (if any) between the VMI and GHD results, in order to compare different tests of visual-motor integration. Three hundred and thirty nine participants attending grade one to four in a specific primary school, took part in this study. The study resulted in various conclusions regarding the status of visual-motor integration functioning, the most relevant being that the selected sample presents with functioning levels lower than that which is expected for children their age, in their achievement on both the VMI and the GHD, implying possible visual-motor integration functioning challenges. This finding implies the need to implement effective intervention programmes in order to address this seemingly evident delay. Conclusions regarding the vanous relationships between the test results and certain biographical variables include the following: It was found that the relationship between socioeconomic status and childhood development, as reflected by the correlation between socioeconomic status and the GHD, seems very important in the South African context. When considering gender differences, females achieved lower scores on both tests applied in the present study than males. Chronological age correlated significantly with scores on the VMI. It was further shown that visual-motor integration functioning could have a significant impact on academic achievement. The VMI and GHD results were compared, in order to compare different tests of visual-motor integration. High scores on the GHD related significantly to high scores on the VMI. Although the present study was unable to confirm the superiority of one test, various considerations were discussed leading to the identification of a child-friendly test of visual-motor integration. The present study highlights the importance of identifying and addressing developmental delays in general, and visualmotor integration functioning in specific, in order to ensure the development of middle childhood children to their complete potential in the South African context. It also underlines the need for effective, child-friendly assessment tools of visual-motor integration that will ensure the effective identification of developmental delays.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Gedurende middelkinderjare is kognitiewe-, emosionele- en selfbeeldontwikkeling van belang, omdat dit die kind voorberei vir die verwagte aanpassings en uitdagings tydens adolessensie. Visueelmotoriese integrasie speel 'n sentrale rol in kinderontwikkeling. Visueel-motoriese integrasie word beskryf as die kind se vermoë om visueel-perseptuele vaardighede te integreer met fyn-motoriese koërdinasie, Die VMI (Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration, Beery (1989)) word gereeld as meetinstrument gebruik vir visueel-motoriese integrasie. Omdat visueel-motoriese integrasie 'n sentrale deel van 'n kind se tekenvaardighede is, is die GHD (Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test) ook toepaslik om informasie rakende 'n kind se visueel-motoriese integrasie funksionering te bepaal. Die primêre doel van die huidige studie was om die status van visueel-motoriese integrasie funksionering van 'n gekose groep kinders in die middelkinderjare binne die Suid-Afrikaanse konteks, te bepaal. Hierdie doel is bereik deur die toepassing van die VMI en die GHD. Akademiese resultate is verder in ag geneem. Die analisering van die finale resultate en data het gelei tot belangrike afleidings rakende die status van die geselekteerde steekproef. Die sekondêre doel was gemotiveer deur die behoefte om 'n effektiewe, kindervriendelike meetinstrument van visueel-motoriese integrasie te identifiseer, wat toepaslik is op 'n jong ouderdom, en akkurate kennis rakende 'n kind se visueel-motoriese integrasie funksionering tot gevolg het. Om die sekondêre doel aan te spreek, is die volgende ondersoek: a) die korrelasies (indien enige) tussen die resultate van die GHD en sekere biografiese veranderlikes, naamlik geslag, chronologiese ouderdom en sosio-ekonomiese status; b) die korrelasies (indien enige) tussen die resultate van die VMI en die bogenoemde biografiese veranderlikes; c) die korrelasies (indien enige) tussen akademiese resultate en die bogenoemde veranderlikes en toets resultate; en d) die korrelasies (indien enige) tussen die GHD en die VMI resultate, ten einde verskillende toetse van visueel-motoriese integrasie te vergelyk. Die huidige studie dui op vele gevolgtrekkings rakende die status van visueel-motoriese integrasie funksionering in die geselekteerde steekproef; die mees relevante dat die steekproef funksioneer op 'n vlak wat laer is as dit wat verwag word vir kinders van hulouderdom. Hierdie gevolgtrekking is gebaseer op die resultate van beide die GHD en die VMI, en impliseer moontlike visueel-motoriese integrasie agterstande. Hierdie bevinding dui op 'n behoefte vir effektiewe intervensie programme wat hierdie oënskynlike agterstande sal aanspreek. Gevolgtrekkings rakende die vele verwantskappe tussen die toetsresultate en sekere biografiese veranderlikes, sluit die volgende in: kinderfunksionering, soos gereflekteer deur die resultate van die GHD, is beduidend verwant aan sosio-ekonomiese status. Hierdie verskynsel blyk belangrik te wees in die Suid-Afrikaanse konteks. Met in agneming van geslagsverskille, het vroulike deelnemers beduidend swakker resultate in beide die GHD en die VMI as manlike deelnemers getoon. Chronologiese ouderdom het beduidend met VMI resultate gekorreleer. Laastens het dit ook gevolg dat visueel-motoriese integrasie, soos reflekteer deur die resultate van beide die VMI en die GHD, 'n beduidende verwantskap tot akademiese funksionering toon. 'n Vergelyking tussen die resultate van die VMI en die GHD het gelei tot die gevolgtrekking dat hierdie twee toetse beduidend positief verwant is. Hoë tellings op die GHD het verband gehou met hoë tellings op die VMI. Alhoewel die resultate van die huidige studie nie die superioriteit van die gebruik van die een toets bo die van die ander kon bevestig nie, is verskeie oorwegings verder bespreek wat in ag geneem behoort te word tydens die seleksie van 'n kindervriendelike meetinstrument van visueelmotoriese integrasie. Die huidige studie is van waarde in die beklemtoning van die belangrikheid om ontwikkelingsagterstande in die algemeen, en spesifiek in visueel-motoriese integrasie funksionering, spoedig te identifiseer en aan te spreek. Die uitvoering hiervan mag 'n bydra lewer tot die ontwikkeling van kinders se potensiaal in die Suid-Afrikaanse konteks. Die studie beklemtoon verder die belangrikheid van effektiewe, kindervriendelike meetinstrumente van visueel-motoriese integrasie, wat die identifisering van hierdie ontwikkelingsagterstande sal verseker.

Handwriting is indispensable in daily work, in academia and in the assertion of personal identity, although it may seem less used today. In clinical practice of occupational therapy, children, adolescents and adults are often referred by presenting postural imbalances and compensatory motor alterations in various activities, including handwriting. During the execution of this task, there is the influence of motor predominant proximal or distal upper limb, depending on the type of grasp that is used in maintaining the pencil in his hand and the performance of fine manual dexterity. These aspects define the classification grasps in patterns: primitive grasp patterns, transitional grasps patterns and mature grasp patterns. This study was divided into two phases. In Phase I we identified through filming, the different types of grasps for handwriting and the prevalence of each type in 806 university students, aged over 18 years, right-handed, of both genders and without functional impairment in upper limbs. For Phase II, 40 subjects were randomly selected among those classified in the previous phase as grasps patterns mature and transition, 20 in each group. We applied the Purdue Pegboard Test, and analyzed the relationship between the manual dexterity and fine these grasp patterns. Data were statistically analyzed using descriptive prevalence (Phase I) and the Student's t-test for independent samples with a significance level of 0.05 (Phase II). The phase I results indicate a higher prevalence of mature grasps at the surveyed population, especially the dynamic tripod, supporting the literature. There was no significant difference between the performance of manual dexterity and the two patterns grasps used by adults for handwriting, suggesting that the functionality is independent of the grasp pattern. However, although there is no difference in functionality, it is known that the extensive use of the proximal muscles of the upper extremities can lead to pain, discomfort and diseases that, in the long term, can compromise the performance and quality of life of people who do. It is important to be aware of the importance of the involvement of occupational therapists in the school environment to stimulate and guide the most appropriate use of upper limb. Adult intervention is necessary in order to prevent or handle changes in functional performance between those seeking assistance with complaints of pain and discomfort in the upper limb.
A escrita manual é imprescindível no cotidiano do trabalho, no meio acadêmico e na afirmação da identidade pessoal, embora possa parecer menos utilizada atualmente. Na prática clínica da Terapia Ocupacional, crianças, adolescentes e adultos são frequentemente encaminhados por apresentarem desequilíbrios posturais e alterações motoras compensatórias em diversas atividades, entre elas a escrita manual. Durante a execução dessa tarefa, observa-se a influência motora predominante da região proximal ou da distal do membro superior, dependendo do tipo de preensão que é utilizado na manutenção do lápis na mão e da performance da destreza manual fina. Esses aspectos definem a classificação das preensões em padrões: padrão de preensão imatura, preensões de transição e padrão de preensão madura. O presente estudo foi dividido em duas fases. Na fase I identificou-se, por meio de filmagens, os diferentes tipos de preensão para escrita manual e a prevalência de cada tipo em 806 jovens universitários, maiores de 18 anos, destros, de ambos os gêneros e sem comprometimento funcional em membros superiores. Para a fase II, foram selecionados 40 sujeitos aleatoriamente, entre os classificados na fase anterior como padrão de preensão madura e de transição, sendo 20 em cada grupo. Foi aplicado o Purdue Pegboard Test, e analisada a relação entre a destreza manual fina e esses padrões de preensão. Os dados foram analisados estatisticamente pelo método descritivo de prevalência (fase I) e pelo Test-T de Student para amostras independentes com nível de significância de 0,05 (fase II). Os resultados da fase I apontam uma maior prevalência de preensões maduras na população pesquisada, principalmente da trípode dinâmica, corroborando com a literatura. Não houve diferença significativa entre o desempenho de destreza manual e os dois padrões de preensão utilizados por adultos para escrita manual, sugerindo que a funcionalidade independe do padrão de preensão. No entanto, apesar de não haver diferença na funcionalidade, é sabido que o intenso uso da musculatura proximal de membros superiores pode gerar dor, desconforto e doenças que, em longo prazo, podem comprometer o desempenho e qualidade de vida das pessoas que o fazem. Alerta-se para a importância da intervenção de terapeutas ocupacionais em ambiente escolar a fim de estimular e orientar o uso mais adequado do MS. Com adultos a intervenção se faz necessária visando prevenir complicações ou tratar alterações no desempenho funcional entre os que procuram atendimento com queixas de dores e desconfortos no membro superior.

Introdução: O movimento é um componente fundamental do ser humano, que lhe permite satisfazer as necessidades básicas da vida. Por este motivo é tão importante avaliar e mensurar os impactos da competência motora na vida das crianças. Uma das ferramentas mais utilizadas para identifi-car crianças com dificuldades motoras é a Movement Assessment Battery for Children Segunda Edição (MABC-2), composta por testes motores e um questionário (MABC-2 Checklist), esse instrumento tem sido usado e testado em várias nacionalidades (Estados Unidos, Japão, China, Espanha, Grécia). Na atualidade os estudos apresentam controvérsias a respeito da eficácia dos instrumentos utilizados pa-ra avaliar o desenvolvimento motor. Objetivos: Esse estudo objetivou verificar a validade concorrente do Movement Assessment Battery for Children Segunda Edição (MABC-2) - Teste Motor para crianças de 7 a 10 anos (faixa etária 2 do MABC-2) com o Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire Brasil (DCDQ-BR). Conseguinte, o primeiro artigo tem como finalidade investigar os testes motores validados para avaliar o desempenho motor de crianças por meio de uma revisão sistemática. No segundo artigo o objetivo foi verificar a validade concorrente da bateria motora do MABC-2 com o DCDQ-BR de acordo com o sexo e a faixa etária. Método: No primeiro artigo foi realizada uma busca nas bases de dados eletrônicas, Medline/PubMed (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval Systen),Web of Science e Scopus , seguindo o critério de inclusão adotados. Foram utilizados para a pesquisa os descritores na língua inglesa: (motor skills disorders), (validation studies or vali-dity), (child or children or only child). Com base nos critérios de busca e seleção, foram identificados 859 artigos. Destes, 624 foram excluídos com base na análise do título, 235 foram selecionados por resumos e para leitura na íntegra foram elegidos 108 estudos. Após a leitura dos artigos na íntegra, 29 trabalhos atenderam os critérios de inclusão que contemplam esta revisão. A qualidade dos artigos foi avaliada usando-se o Strengthening the Reporting of Obser-vational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE). O segundo artigo que apresenta também o método geral do trabalho, constitui um estudo de validação caracterizado como pesquisa exploratória, com uma população selecionada de forma intencional. Foram avaliados 350 escolares sendo 175 meninas e 176 meninos do município da Grande Florianópolis SC e Manaus AM e seus pais ou responsáveis. Foram realizados os testes motores do instrumento MABC-2 (faixa etária 2), com crianças nas idades de 7 a 10 anos. O instrumento DCDQ-BR, foi respondido pelos pais ou responsáveis dos escolares. Após a coleta, para a caracterização dos dados foi utilizada a análise estatística descritiva realizada por meio de freqüências relativas e absoluta. E para verificar a normalidade dos dados o teste Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Porém, as variáveis não apresentaram com distribuição normal, desta forma, foram utilizados, para análise inferencial, apenas testes não paramétricos. A comparação entre as faixas etárias foi realizada por meio dos testes U de Mann-Witney e o coeficiente de Correlação de Spearman para a validação concorrente. Em todas as análises estatísti-cas foi adotado o nível de significância p≤0,05. Resultados: Referente ao artigo 1, os instrumentos de avaliação motora mais utilizados nos estudos foi a Movement Assesment Bat-tery for Children (MABC), Developmental Test of Visual Motor (VMI-5), Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Profici ency (BOTMP), Movement Assesment Battery for Children (MABC 2) e o Developmental Coordination Disorder Ques-tionnaire (DCDQ). Nos critérios de validação dos instrumentos os métodos mais utilizados foram: validação concorrente, seguido da validação de constructo e adaptação transcultural. No segundo artigo, a validade concorrente apresentou uma correlação positiva e significativa apresentando valores de (r= 0,40; r= 0,60) entre os instrumentos, independentes do sexo e da faixa etária. Para as classificações motoras foram agrupadas em Risco/Dificuldade de Movimento e Sem Dificuldade de Movimento. Quanto à desordem motora mediante a classificação do teste motor MABC-2, houve maior prevalência no sexo masculino na faixa etária 09-10. Diante dos resultados apontados, esta pesquisa fornece evidências para considerar o MABC-2 como um protocolo de avaliação motora para ser utilizado em crianças de duas regiões do país, legitimando-se como uma ferramenta de triagem para o diagnóstico do Transtorno do Desenvolvimento da Coordenação TDC.

A competência motora (CM) pode ser definida como o grau de desempenho habilidoso em uma grande variedade de tarefas motoras. Diferentes fatores têm sido associados à competência motora, tais como, sociodemográficos: idade e sexo; biológicos: estado nutricional e composição corporal; e comportamental prática de atividade física extraescolar. Entretanto, a influência de outras variáveis na aquisição da competência motora, como a condição socioeconômica, medidas antropométricas, ainda é desconhecida. Com isso, o objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a associação da CM com fatores sociodemográficos, biológicos e com a prática de atividade física de crianças. O estudo caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa transversal. Foram avaliadas 172 crianças de ambos os sexos, com idades entre 6 a 10 anos, da Escola Municipal João XXIII, localizada na cidade de Tabuleiro/MG. A CM foi avaliada pelo Teste de Coordenação Corporal para Crianças – KTK, também foram avaliadas a estatura e o peso, para o cálculo do Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC), o perímetro da cintura (PC), para o cálculo da Relação cintura-estatura (RCE). O percentual de gordura corporal (%GC) foi avaliado pelo exame de bioimpedância, assim como a massa de gordura e massa muscular. Ainda foram avaliadas o tamanho da perna, o comprimento do pé e a envergadura. Foram realizadas análises bivariada e multivariada. As Análises de Correspondência Múltipla (ACM) e de Regressão Linear Múltipla (RLM) foram utilizadas para verificar a associação da CM com os fatores investigados. As análises estatísticas foram realizadas no programa SPSS, versão 20.0, com nível de rejeição de hipótese de nulidade de α = 5%. A CM média das crianças foi 42,66 (± 10,97) pontos. As análises bivariadas mostraram que a CM teve relação de pequena a moderada com idade (p < 0,001), %GC (p= 0,006), Relação cintura-estatura (RCE) (p < 0,001), tamanho da perna (r: 0,316, p < 0,001) envergadura (r= 0,404, p < 0,001) e prática de atividade física extraescolar (p= 0,007). A Análise de Correspondência Múltipla (ACM) revelou associação moderada entre a classificação da CM com a idade mais elevadas, o %GC adequado e com a prática de atividade física extraescolar (α de Cronbach das dimensões 1 e 2 foram de a 0,443 e 0,601, respectivamente). O modelo final da análise de Regressão Linear Múltipla (RML) constatou que quanto maior a idade (β: 3,26, p < 0,001) e a envergadura (β: 0,224, p: 0,037), maior foi a CM. De modo contrário, quanto maior os valores de %GC (β: -0,80, p: 0,037) e perímetro da cintura (β: -0,56, p: 0,01) menor foi o escore de pontuação da CM no KTK. Conclui-se que a avaliação da CM apresentou associação concomitante e independente principalmente com idade, envergadura e medidas da composição corporal, como o PC e a gordura corporal. Isto confirma que a prática de intervenção, avaliação e classificação da CM das crianças devem ser planejadas de forma multifatorial, envolvendo ações que atinjam os aspectos sociodemográficos, biológicos e comportamentais.
Motor competence (CM in Portuguese) can be defined as the skill level of skill in many varieties of motor tasks. Different variables have been associated with CM, such as: age, sex and nutritional status. However, the influence of other variables on CM acquisition, such as body fat and anthropometric measures, is still unknown. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the association of CM with sociodemographic, biological and physical activity of children.This study was based on a cross-sectional study, in which 172 children of both genders, aged 6 to 10 years, were evaluated. These children are from a scholl called Escola Municipal João XXIII, located in the city of Tabuleiro / MG. The CM was evaluated by the Body Coordination Test for Children (KTK), height and weight were also evaluated for the calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference (PC, abbreviation in Portuguese), for the calculation of Waist- stature (RCE, abbreviation in Portuguese). The percentage of body fat (% GC) was evaluated by bioimpedance examination, as well as fat mass and muscle mass. The size of the leg, foot length and wingspan were also evaluated. Bivariate and multivariate analyzes were performed. Multiple Correspondence Analyzes (ACM) and Multiple Linear Regression (RLM) were used to verify the association of CM with the investigated factors. Statistical analyzes were performed in the SPSS program, version 20.0, with null hypothesis rejection level of α = 5%. The mean CM of the children was 42.66 (± 10.97) points. The bivariate analyzes showed that CM had relationship with age (p <0.001),% GC (p: 0.006), waist-to-height ratio (RCE) (p <0.001), leg size (r: 0.316, p <0.001) (r: 0.404, p <0.001) and out-of-school physical activity (p: 0.007). The Multiple Correspondence Analysis (ACM) revealed a moderate association between the classification of CM with the highest age, the appropriate CG% and the practice of out-of-school physical activity (Cronbach's α of dimensions 1 and 2 were of a .4343 and .601, respectively). The final model of Multiple Linear Regression (RML) analysis found that the greater the age (β: 3.26, p <0.001) and wingspan (β: 0.224, p: 0.037), the highest was CM. Conversely, the higher the values of% GC (β: -0.80, p: 0.037) and waist circumference (β: -0.56, p: 0.01) the lower the CM score in KTK. It was concluded that CM evaluation showed a concomitant and independent association mainly with age, body size and body composition measurements, such as PC and body fat. This confirms that the practice of CM intervention, evaluation and classification of children should be planned in a multifactorial manner, involving actions that affect sociodemographic, biological and behavioral aspects.

Resumo: O presente estudo, caracterizado como um delineamento descritivo transversal, teve como objetivo geral avaliar o desempenho motor de escolares de 7 a 10 anos de idade, de ambos os sexos, da rede municipal de Cianorte, atraves da bateria de teste KTK. Para a selecao da amostra, fez-se uso do sorteio sistematico, a partir da listagem ordenada das escolas, com base no numero crescente de alunos atriculados. Foram avaliadas 931 criancas, 503 do sexo feminino e 428 do sexo masculino. A composicao corporal foi estimada atraves das dobras cutaneas triciptal e subescapular. O desempenho motor das riancas foi avaliado atraves da bateria de teste KTK. A normalidade dos dados foi avaliada atraves do teste de Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Utilizou-se da analise de variancia de um fator para comparacao das variaveis do estudo entre os grupos etarios (ANOVA para dados normais e Kruskal- Wallis para dados nao normais). A comparacao entre os sexos foi feita pelo teste gt h para os dados normais e pelo teste de ann-Whitney para os dados nao normais. O teste Chiquadrado (ƒÔ2) foi utilizado para verificar o grau de associacao entre as variaveis estudadas. De modo geral, os resultados do presente estudo revelaram que 70,2% dos escolares apresentaram niveis de desempenho motor abaixo da normalidade, dependentemente da idade e do sexo. No entanto, as meninas apresentaram niveis de desempenho motor inferiores aos meninos. Quanto aos componentes do desempenho motor coordenado constatou-se que as meninas demonstraram mais dificuldades nos saltos lateral e monopedal do que os meninos, que apresentaram niveis inferiores de equilibrio. O percentual de gordura demonstrou forte associacao com o desempenho motor, evidenciando que as criancas que tinham um acumulo maior de gordura corporal apresentaram menores indices de desempenho motor. Com o presente estudo, pode-se concluir que os niveis de desempenho motor coordenado dos meninos sao melhores do que os das meninas, porem, de uma forma geral, os resultados foram aquem dos esperados. A gordura corporal pode influenciar negativamente nos niveis de desempenho motor das criancas, enfatizando a necessidade das aulas de Educacao Fisica Curricular na educacao infantil para combater a obesidade e criar maiores oportunidades para a pratica.
Abstract: The present study, characterized as a transversal descriptive approach, aimed at evaluating the motor performance of 7 to 10 year old students, both male and female, from Cianorte municipal schools, by means of a battery of KTK test. For the sampling, a systematic drawing was performed, using a list of schools, based on the increasing number of students matriculated. 931 children were evaluated, 503 female and 428 male. The body composition was estimated by means of triceps and sub scapular skin folds. The children motor performances were evaluated using a battery of KTK test. The normality of data was evaluated by means of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Variance analysis was used as a factor for variable comparison of the study among age groups (ANOVA for normal data and Kruskal-Wallis for non-normal data). The omparison between genders was assessed by "t" tests for normal data and Mann-Whitney for non normal data. Chi-square test (÷²) was used to check the degree of association among the variables assessed. In a general way, the results of the present study revealed that 70,2% of students presented levels of motor performance below normal values, independently of age and gender. However, girls presented lower levels of motor performance, compared to boys. As for components of coordinated motor performance, it was possible to verify that girls showed more difficulty in side and monopedal jumps than boys, who presented lower evels of balance. The percentage of fat demonstrated a strong association with motor performance, evidencing that children with higher amounts of body fat presented lower levels of motor performance. With the present study, it was possible to conclude that levels of coordinated motor performance of boys is better than girls, however, in a general way, results were below the expected. Body fat may influence negatively the levels of children motor performance, emphasizing the need for Curricular Physical Education in children education to fight obesity and create opportunities for physical activity.

Full textCoordinative capabilities play a crucial role in motor function, being important in the acquisition and development of fundamental skills, subsequently the sport skills. These capabilities are recognized as the basis for the development of sports skills that responds positively in relation to the accuracy and effectiveness in the sporting movements. It is in childhood that we observe the best gain in efficiency in these capabilities, stabilizing in adolescence. Despite the importance of coordinative abilities, there is a lack of evaluation tests that can provide information about their income on children and youth. The \"Wiener Koordinationsparcour\" ( WKP ) of Warwitz is a sporty test of international origin, which measures the coordinative capabilities of spatial orientation, reaction, balance, motor adaptation and differentiation through time to perform the tasks specified in the eight steps that compose the test. Because the origin of the WKP its validation for the Brazilian reality is required. This study aims to validate the adapted WKP adapt it assess the coordinative abilities in students 12-14 years old. The study included eight experts in the field of Physical Education and Sport and 108 students 12-14 years of both sexes. The validation process consisted of the following steps: cross-cultural adaptation, content and construct validity and verification of the criteria of validity, objectivity and reliability. A cross-cultural adaptation and translation of the original instrument name by calling it, Percurso de Coordenação de Viena (PCV). The construct validity and content was analyzed by experts through the PCV Manual. In addition, two ( 02 ) forms on the adapted test were filled. To verify the objectivity score time the test was performed by three (03) assessors; reliability score in the test- retest was used . We used descriptive statistics to analyze the frequency responses of the experts, the intraclass correlation coefficient ( ICC) was used in the analysis of objectivity and reliability were made also to verify the reliability the paired t- test. The results of the objectivity of the 0,999 test in females and 1.00 in males indicated that PCV is a reliable test. However, the reliability coefficients presented were considered low: 0.61 (female) and 0.58 (men). The paired t- test confirmed that the low reliability was due to differences in scores between test and retest. For expert analysis PCV presents construct validity and content. Motivation and learning influenced the test scores and, consequently, on its reliability. Thus, despite the fact that PCV test reflects the content validity and is reliable, other studies are needed in Brazilian schoolchildren aged 12 to 14 years

Tais flutuaÃÃes, provavelmente, guardam relaÃÃo com o estado de neurotransmissÃo dopaminÃrgica e com influÃncias de outros sistemas de neurotransmissores. Casos de jogo compulsivo foram descritos na DP e tem sido associados ao uso de agonistas dopaminÃrgicos. Sabe-se que a via dopaminÃrgica desempenha um papel fundamental no sistema de recompensa e tem sido implicada no reforÃo positivo apÃs o jogo. A prÃtica de jogos tem tambÃm sido associada à melhora da cogniÃÃo em pessoas idosas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar a influÃncia aguda do jogo de dominà sobre a atividade motora e a memÃria na DP. NÃs avaliamos as caracterÃsticas sÃcio-demogrÃficas da populaÃÃo, o estado da funÃÃo motora atravÃs da Unified Parkinsonâs Disease Rating Scale parte III, a presenÃa de sintomas depressivos atravÃs do InventÃrio de DepressÃo de Beck (IDB), a memÃria de trabalho atravÃs do Teste de Stroop parte III e o desempenho motor atravÃs do teste de caminhada e de digitaÃÃo rÃpida. O experimento consistiu na realizaÃÃo de um jogo de dominÃ, entre 8 e 9 horas da manhÃ. Os testes de memÃria e desempenho motor foram realizados antes e apÃs o jogo. ApÃs a realizaÃÃo ou nÃo do jogo os pacientes foram classificados entre os grupos perdedor, vencedor e controle respectivamente. O estudo foi realizado no AmbulatÃrio de DistÃrbios do Movimento do HU da Faculdade de Medicina da UFC. Quarenta pacientes consecutivos, sendo 27 homens (67,5%) com idade entre 48 e 84 anos (63,2Â8,5), com Hoehn &Yahr entre I e III foram avaliados. Na amostra estudada, 28 casos (70%) apresentavam sintomas depressivos (IDB>10). O grupo controle consistiu de 13 indivÃduos que permaneceram sentados sem jogar. Quatorze pacientes foram vencedores e 13 foram perdedores. NÃo houve diferenÃa estatisticamente significante entre os grupos quanto à idade, duraÃÃo da doenÃa, Ãndice de massa corpÃrea, dose de levodopa, uso de Ãlcool, fumo, histÃrico familiar de DP, presenÃa de sintomas depressivos e hÃbitos de jogar jogos de azar. Uma paciente em uso de agonista dopaminÃrgico referiu compulsÃo por jogos de azar. Os pacientes vencedores apresentaram melhor desempenho no teste de memÃria de trabalho (p=0,002) e digitaÃÃo rÃpida (p= 0,01). Os perdedores apresentaram uma tendÃncia de melhora da caminhada apÃs o experimento. Em conclusÃo, nosso estudo mostra que a prÃtica de um jogo de dominà se associa a melhora da memÃria de trabalho e da atividade motora (avaliada pelo teste de digitaÃÃo rÃpida) em indivÃduos com DP. Tais achados podem ser explicados pela liberaÃÃo de dopamina que ocorre apÃs o jogo atravÃs do sistema de recompensa.
Parkinsonâs disease (PD) is a chronic illness characterized by the presence of akinesia, rigidity and resting tremor. Clinical fluctuation is a common finding and is probably related to the oscillation of dopaminergic neurotransmission and also to the influence of other neurotransmitters. Obsessive gambling has been described over the years and it has been associated in many cases with the use of dopaminergic agonists. The explanation for these findings might be that dopamine is involved in a reward system at the central nervous system. Games has also been associated with improvement of cognition in the elderly. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute effect of playing dominoe on working memory, as evaluated by the Stroop test, and motor activity as evaluated by the 14-meter walk and the finger-tap test, on a population with PD. Besides socio-demographic data, patients were evaluated with the Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale Part III and with the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Experiment consisted on performing a game of dominoe, between 8 and 9 hours A.M. Patients were tested before and after experiment. Control group remained kept without specific activity for the same amount of time as the others. Patients were classified in winners, non-winners and control respectively, after experiment. The study was performed at the University Hospital of Federal University of CearÃ. All cases were out patients from a movement disorders clinic. Forty consecutive patients, 27 male (67,5%), age from 48 to 84 years (63,2Â8,5), Hoehn &Yahr between I e III were included. Twenty-eight cases (70%) presented depressive symptoms (BDI>10). Control group was made of 13 cases, 14 were winners and 13 were non-winners. Comparison among groups did not show any differences statistics regarding age, disease duration, age at presentation of symptoms, body mass index, alcohol use, smoking habit, family history, depressive symptoms, levodopa dose, and practice of games. One female patient on use of dopaminergic agonist referred compulsion for gambling. In this study, winners presented significantly better results on working memory as evaluated by the Stroop test (p=0,002) and of motor activity as evaluated by the finger-tap test (p= 0,01). Non-winners showed a trend of better performance in the 14-meter walk test. In conclusion, our study shows that in PD, performing a simple dominoe game is associated with improvement of working memory as evaluated by the Stroop Test and of motor activity as evaluated by the finger-tap test. These findings may be explained by a liberation of dopamine that occurs with gaming through the reward system.

Full textThermomagnetic motors are devices capable of converting heat into mechanical energy through the thermomagnetic effect. These devices are able to operate using low or very low quality thermal waste, being an alternative to avail that range of thermal energy. This work classifies the thermomagnetic motors in two types: The Tesla type and the Edison type thermomagnetic motors, differentiating the operational behavior and the thermodynamic cycles developed in each type. By using thermodynamic approaches, it is shown that the Tesla type thermomagnetic motors have best response in terms of work and efficiency than the Edison type thermomagnetic motors, when the same operating conditions are considered. In addition, an experimental approach is presented, proving that the Kelvin force equation describes the behavior of the force in thermomagnetic motors, and the work produced in a motor is the same that the work produced by the resultant magnetic force in the system. It was developed and validated a method to estimate the work produced by cycle in a Tesla type thermomagnetic motor, and using thermodynamic approaches, the relevance of the temperature, applied magnetic field, demagnetizing factor and transition type in the Tesla type thermomagnetic motor were verified.

Este estudo do tipo quase-experimental teve como objetivo verificar a especificidade de um teste de agilidade para tenistas, criado a partir de um sistema automatizado proposto por Monte (2004a). Como parâmetro de comparação de desempenho foi utilizado o teste de agilidade de Shuttle Run. Os dois testes foram aplicados em 32 indivíduos, categorizados em tenistas (T=21) e não-tenistas (NT=11), como grupo controle. Primeiramente foram coletados os dados baseados no protocolo de Monte para tenistas, concebido a partir de um instrumental eletrônico interfaceado a um computador portátil, para aquisição precisa e automática dos tempos. Em um segundo momento foi aplicado o protocolo de agilidade padronizado (Shuttle Run). Também foram coletados dados referentes a variáveis antropométricas de massa corporal, estatura, envergadura, comprimentos e perímetros de membros inferiores, bem como o tempo de prática no Tênis de Campo para o primeiro grupo (T). Os dados foram tratados no software Statistica 5.5, onde foram empregados a estatística descritiva, o Teste "t" de Student para amostras independentes e o coeficiente de Correlação Linear de Pearson (com níveis de confiança p<0,05). No teste de Shuttle Run, os tempos médios obtidos para os tenistas foram de 10,18 ± 0,52 s e para os não-tenistas 10,57 ± 0,83 s. Para o teste de Monte, o grupo T apresentou uma média de 7483,65 ± 473,61 ms para o forehand e 7805,00 ± 516,33 ms para o backhand, enquanto que, para o grupo NT foi verificada uma média de 8030,00 ± 597,78 ms e 8358,36 ± 598,26 ms, respectivamente. A partir da análise dos dados, pode-se afirmar que os valores encontrados para os dois testes são estatisticamente diferentes, onde o grupo T apresentou um melhor desempenho que o grupo NT para o teste de Monte, enquanto que essa relação não se confirmou na aplicação do teste Shuttle Run. Dessa forma, foi verificada a autenticidade científica do teste de agilidade proposto por Monte para tenistas, onde apresentou um poder de discriminação de desempenho, comparada ao teste tomado como referência, universalmente adotado para agilidade.

Full textThe aim of this dissertation was to compare the acute effects of different stretching methods on motor tests performance and neuromuscular parameters. For this, two studies were conducted. Participated in the study 1, twelve trained soccer players, being submitted to 5 experimental conditions: active stretching (AC), ballistic (BA), passive (PA), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) or control condition (CO), in random order and with a minimum interval of 48 h between each condition. It was evaluated the jump height (H), peak power (PP) and relative power (PR) in squat jump (SJ) and countermovent jump (CMJ), range of motion (ROM), 10-20-30 m sprint time and rating of perception exertion (RPE). The AC and BA stretching methods did not promote acute changes in performance at 10-20-30 m sprint time, and in H, PP and PR in both CMJ and SJ techniques. On the other hand, PA and PNF methods promoted negative effects (p <0.05) on H, PP and PR performance in CMJ and SJ. In addition, significantly higher RPE scores were reported after the PA and PNF stretching sessions compared to AC and BA. Significant increases were found in ROM after all stretching methods. Therefore, AC and BA methods can be used prior to vertical jump and sprint activities, with the aim of increasing flexibility. On the other hand, the PA and PNF methods should be avoided, due to the higher intensities reached in these methods and the extensive possibility of subsequent negative effects on vertical jump performance. For study 2, soccer players underwent the same experimental conditions (CO, AC, BA, PA and PNF). However, maximum strength was assessed by a maximal repetition test (1 RM) for the full squat exercise, and neuromuscular parameters using the twitch interpolation technique. The variables peak force, rate of force development, amplitude of superimposed twitch and potentiated twitch, and percentage of voluntary activation referring to the force signal, and root mean square, M-Wave and RMS/M-Wave ratio referring to the Electromyographic (EMG) signal (muscles: vastus lateralis and rectus femoris), during maximal isometric voluntary contractions (MVC) of knee extension. No significant changes were found in the 1 RM and CVM performance after CO, AC, BA, PA and PNF conditions. In addition, no significant changes were found in the variables related to the EMG signal. Thus, stretching sessions similar to the study [3 series x 30 s of 100% point of discomfort (POD) stretching], independent of the stretching method, do not seem to promote posterior negative effects on maximum strength performance and on neuromuscular parameters in trained athletes.

The experiment of new treatments requires animal models miming the human pathology. In Humans batteries of cognitive and motor tests are used to qualify and quantify the impairment due to neurodegenerative disease as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson’s disease. The aim of this work is to promote Microcebus murinus as a model of age related neurodegenerative pathologies. The grey mouse lemur, a small prosimian primate, phylogenetically close to Human, presents specific characteristics susceptible to provide important information on the validity and efficacy of new. The validation of a model requires the use of behavioral tests to discriminate neurodegenerative impairment. A set of behavioral tests were worked out to evaluate learning memory and motor functions. Healthy animals were evaluated and allowed to define protocols species specific. These protocols were then applied on animals treated to induce pathology such as Parkinson or Alzheimer in order to detect cognitive or motor impairments

Full textENGLISH ABSTRACT: Visual-motor integration is an important neuro-psychological aspect of school readiness. Developmental deficits in this area can have a detrimental influence on a child's ability to master reading, writing and arithmetic skills at school entrance level. Visual-motor integration problems should therefore be detected as early as possible to be able to implement intervention strategies which will promote visual-motor development. The study is socially relevant as it corresponds with the South African school policy which changed to a more integrative, inclusive approach after 1994. The American standardised Beery Developmental Test for Visual-Motor Integration (VMI) is widely used as a screening technique for visual-motor abilities by psychologists, occupational therapists, educators and remedial teachers in South Africa. In order to determine the predictive validity of the American VMI for a group of South African subjects, the results of children on the VMI: 1989-norms and VMI: 1997-norms were compared to their results in the Copying Test of the Junior South African Individual Scales (JSAIS). Performance on these three tests were also compared with certain biographical variables as well as teacher ratings of specific academic skills. A representative sample of 238 pre-school children from the Stellenbosch region were selected. According to the obtained results, a significant relationship was found between the results of the VMI: 1989 and VMI: 1997. The results of both the VMI: 1989 and VMI: 1997 correlated significantly with the results of the Copying Test. Performance in the tests correlated with chronological age, socio-economic status, as well as teacher ratings of specific academic skills. The discrepancy between the test performance of the three ethnic groups, suggests that the rate of the perceptual motor development described by the VMI developmental norms may be culture-specific. Considering the overall results of this study, the interchangeability of the Copying Test and the VMI, especially the VMI: 1997, in clinical use is acceptable in the South African context. The Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration thus offers significant predictive validity, as well as a valid indication, of the visual-motor integration development in the sample ofpre-schoolers used.

Ontwikkelingsagterstande in hierdie area kan 'n kind se lees-, taal- en rekenkundige vermoëns nadelig beïnvloed. Probleme ten opsigte van visueel-motoriese integrasie behoort dus so vroeg as moontlik opgespoor te word sodat remediërende strategieë geïmplementeer kan word wat visueel-motoriese integrasie bevorder. Die navorsing is sosiaal relevant deurdat dit aansluit by die skoolbeleid wat sedert 1994 na 'n meer geïntegreerde, inklusiewe benadering met die akkomodasie van diversiteit, verander het. Sielkundiges, arbeidsterapeute, opvoedkundiges en remediërende onderwysers in Suid- Afrika benut die Amerikaans gestandaardiseerde Beery-Ontwikkelingstoets vir Visueel- Motoriese Integrasie (VMI) op gereelde grondslag vir die evaluering van visueelmotoriese vaardighede. Full textASSA AB develops different types of products that can be used in or around doors. ASSA offers a complete door solution to the customers. Many of these products are linked together and work for a complete formation of access control. ASSA has recently developed a new communications bus for some of their products. One advantage of the new communication bus is that each product should be able to offer different kinds of added values to the customers.
This master thesis main focus is to find a model to describe the predicted life length of ASSA:s motor lock called 811C50, which includes a study that determine which environmental parameters that can affects the motor locks life length. This master thesis is also a pre-study for further work of an existing motor lock.
The chosen test model, full parameter test, leads to a life length equation. This equation shall later on be implemented in the motor locks so the motor locks itself can predict its own life length. To make the equation completed different parameters, that can affect the motor locks life length, are needed. This can be implemented through different technological tests and to succeed with the test, right test equipment is needed. No establish test equipment was available, which required that new test equipment, which could test all motor locks, were build. On the bases from interviews with engineers at ASSA it was established that the following parameters probably can affect the motor locks life length: temperature, air humidity, dust, corrosion, side load and vibration. Not until certain factors and coefficients have been determined, for the equation, can the equation be used.

Denna avhandling har som huvudsyfte att hitta en modell som kan beskriva livslängden för ASSA:s motorlås, 811C50. Till detta görs en studie för att undersöka vilka miljö parametrar som kan påverka motorlåsets livslängd. Denna avhandling kan även ses som en förstudie där målet är att vidareutveckla det befintliga motorlåset.
Den valda modellen, full variabel test, leder till en livslängdsekvation. Denna ekvation kommer sedan att bli implementerad i motorlåset så att låset själv kan prediktera sin egen livslängd. För att göra ekvationen komplett behövs olika parameterr som kan påverka motorlåsets livslängd identifieras. Detta kan ske genom olika tekniska test och för att lyckas med testen krävs rätt testutrustning. Ingen befintlig testutrustning fanns tillgänglig vilket resulterade i en ny testutrustning som kunde testa alla motorlås utvecklades. Utifrån intervjuer med ingenjörer på ASSA kunde det fastställas att följande parameterr troligtvis kan påverka motorlåsets livslängd: temperatur, luftfuktighet, damm, korrosion, listtryck och vibrationer. Inte förens koefficienter, till ekvationen, har blivit fastställda är ekvationen färdig att användas.

Estas variáveis foram medidas através de três baterias de testes: a Bateria de Bruininks-Ozeretzky (TBO) para medir Proficiência Motora, a Bateria de Xavier (ICC) para medir Inteligência Corporal-cinestésica e uma bateria de testes para medir Aptidão Motora. Compõem a amostra 67 meninos e 83 meninas da Rede Municipal de Ensino de Santa Maria regularmente matriculados nas séries finais do Ensino Fundamental e na faixa etária dos 11 aos 14 anos. A amostra foi submetida as três baterias de testes em períodos diferentes e posteriormente a entrevistas individuais. Conclui-se que todas as baterias citadas anteriormente podem, desde que adaptadas, serem aplicadas nas condições oferecidas pelas escolas públicas brasileiras. O que e como avaliar deve sempre depender dos objetivos e das metas previamente estabelecidas pelos professores e alunos. A escolha dos testes e/ou baterias de testes vai depender do grau de conhecimento do professor avaliador, quanto aos instrumentos escolhidos tanto no que se refere as variáveis avaliadas como na interpretação posterior dos escores encontrados. Não basta escolher adequadamente os instrumentos de coleta de dados, os professores devem ter o máximo de certeza quanto ao espaço físico, as habilidades a serem medidas, o tempo útil para a aplicação dos instrumentos, o número de sujeitos avaliados e de avaliadores necessários e a disponibilidade de materiais. Os professores de escolas públicas brasileiras devem, ter um vasto conhecimento sobre a sua área de atuação, muita criatividade e dedicação ao desempenhar seu papel, pois hoje a falta de recursos materiais não serve mais como desculpa para os fracassos pedagógicos.

Full textThe current socio-cultural context imposes the early return of the mother to work after her son´s birth, and the ingress of babies in daycare centers in the first two years of life is quite controversial. A favorable environment to develop the child's competences and increment their growth properly needs investments, so that we can promote the children´s health through appropriate and compensatory environments. Objectives: (1) assess motor, cognitive and language performance of babies from 06 to 18 months who attend daycare centers; (2) verify the agreement between two instruments for the assessment of gross motor performance; (3) investigate the criterion validity, content and construct and reliability of AHEMD-IS version 3-18 months to use scale in the context of daycare centers; (4) associate the knowledge of teachers and assistants about child development to care practices and skills assessed. Method: A cross-sectional study, observational. The infant development was evaluated by Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development 3rd edition (BSITD-III) and Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS). The quality of the environment was checked using the Affordances in the Home Environment for Infant Motor Scale Development (AHEMD-IS) adapted for use in daycare setting and the Daily Activities of Infant Scale (DAIS). Non-parental care was measured through Knowledge of Infant Development Inventory (KIDI). Descriptive statistics were performed for the categorization of the sample. Pearson´s correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman analysis between methods was used to verify the agreement between the evaluation of gross motor performance. Analysis of the diagnostic features of the AIMS were also performed. A multivariate linear regression model using structural equation to evaluate possible associations between the dependent and independent variables was done. Results: 67 children were evaluated (53.7%, n = 36 boys), corrected age mean 11.15 ± 2.9 months and gestational age mean 38.48 ± 1.5 weeks, with predominance of socioeconomic class B2 (46.5%, n = 31). The average of the variables birth weight (p = 0.040) and maternal education (p = 0.008) was higher in private schools. The mean of motor performance scores (79.66 ± 12.9), cognitive scores (88.66 ± 10.6) and language scores (78.15 ± 9.3) showed lower values than expected in the motor and language domain. In the private school system, it was found positive and significant association between motor performance and variety of stimulation (β = 0.506, p = 0.002) and negative and significant associations between motor performance and teachers´ knowledge of child development (β = - 0.586, p = ≤ 0.001) and assistants (β = - 0.325, p = 0.011). In public, it found a positive and significant association between motor skills and environmental quality (β = 0.405, p = 0.008). Very strong association between the scales used for the assessment of gross motor performance was found (r = 0.96, p ≤ 0,000). The Bland-Altman method points satisfactory agreement between the instruments in the sample. Assuming the delay from the cut-off point below the 10th percentile, excellent results of sensitivity (S = 92%), specificity (E = 100%), positive predictive value (PPV = 100%), negative predictive value (NPV = 98%) and overall accuracy of the AIMS (Ac = 11,82) was found. The results of the validation of AHEMD-IS indicate their suitability for use in the daycare center context. Conclusion: Environments with adequate physical structure, diversity of materials and trained professionals are needed, however, the caregiver - child´s interaction is essential. Indirectly, when evaluating children's performance and the relations established in the daycare setting, it was observed that the development of children in day care seems to be more dependent on the quality of interactions, activities and experiences with the language and the body than with the spaces and the structural conditions. The presence of health professionals with the children in educational contexts can contribute to health promotion and the full development of the child population.

Full textThe gold standard for the diagnosis of esophageal motor disorders is based on the data obtained at the individual analysis of 10 swallows of 5 ml of water performed by HRM, in supine position. These measurements obtained, and according to the Chicago criteria, will give us the diagnosis. In the present thesis we have been evaluating the utility of an overload intake, which consists in the rapid intake of 200 ml of water. To do this, the pressures of the esophageal body and the UEG produced by the challenge test in the different esophageal motor pathologies have been evaluated. With this, we observe that different esophageal motor pathologies have different pressive responses to the test and thus establish specific motor response patterns for each group of motor disorders. These patterns are the normal or hypopressive pattern, presented by healthy subjects and patients with hypotensive or minor motor disorders, the brief or non-obstructive hyperpressive pattern, shared by patients diagnosed with a hypercontractile esophagus and esophageal spasm and finally the obstructive pattern, observed in patients with achalasia. Once the patterns were established, the test was performed in a large cohort of healthy subjects from different countries, to establish normal values for the challenge test of the different pressive parameters. Finally, the ability of the test to assess the response to treatment responses in patients with obstruction due to achalasia was determined and it was observed that the successful treatment of these was associated with the disappearance of the obstructive pattern in response to the challenge test. Thus, the specific motor response patterns to the RDC test are a useful tool in the diagnosis and follow up of patients with esophageal motor disorders and they allow an objective assessment of their impact on esophageal emptying, which can be a useful tool to decide the treatment or the retreatment need for these patients.

O objetivo do trabalho foi investigar a interferência de diferentes estilos musicais sobre os estados de ânimo, sobre a percepção de esforço e sobre a performance durante a prática de atividade física. Três estudos foram realizados. No primeiro, os participantes passaram por três sessões experimentais de 20 minutos de audição dos estilos New Age; Rock Heavy Metal e Sucessos. Neste estudo buscou-se inferir as alterações nos estados de ânimo dos ouvintes após a audição. No segundo estudo, os participantes passaram por 4 sessões experimentais de 20 minutos de caminhada em uma esteira rolante ouvindo os estilos acima citados além de uma sessão Sem Música. Além dos estados de ânimo, procurou-se acompanhar a Percepção de Esforço e a Performance (quantidade de exercício produzida). O terceiro estudo foi idêntico ao segundo com exceção da atividade que foi pedalar em um ciclo ergômetro. Através da Análise de Correspondência para verificação dos estados de ânimo após as sessões experimentais e das médias para verificar as Percepções de Esforço e a Performance foi possível identificar que as músicas New Age e Sucessos alteraram positivamente os estados de ânimo, e que o Rock alterou negativamente os mesmos. A situação de Caminhar e Pedalar Sem Música não foi capaz de alterar positivamente os estados de ânimo dos participantes, e isto foi interpretado como sendo extremamente monótono realizar estas atividades em ambientes fechados sem estímulos visuais ou sonoros. A percepção de esforço se apresentou diferente na situação de Rock, a média dos valores foi superior às demais tanto nas parciais de 5, 10, 15 e 20 minutos quanto na média geral após os 20 minutos. The purpose of this study was to investigate the interference of different musical styles on mood. on effort perception and on performance during physical activity practice. Three studies were developed. In the first one the participants went through three 20 minutes experimental sessions of listening to New Age; Rock Heavy Metal and Success styles. In this study it was searched to infer the listeners mood alterations after listening. In the sccond study, the participants went through four experimental sessions walking 20 minutes in a treadmill listening to the styles cited above add to that one session Without Music. Besides the mood, it was tried to follow the Effort Perception and the Performance (exercise quantity performed). The third study was identical to the second one, except that the activity was to exercise in a cycle ergometry. Using Correspondence Analysis to verify the mood after the experimental sessions and tbe Mean of Effort Perception and Performance it was possible to identify that the New Age and Success music changed positively the moods, and the Rock altered them negatively. The situations Walk and Cycle Without Music weren't capable of changing positively the participants mood, and this was understood as being extremely monotonous to do this activities in closed environments without visual or auditory stimulus. The effort perception was different in Rock situation, the mean of values was upper compared to the others in partials as 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes and the mean also was greater than others after 20 minutes. The participants' performances in walking group did not differ from one situation to another. The cycling group had a different performance in each situation, the minor one was under New Age style and the larger one was under Rock style.
