Abstract:
In the present literature review modern view on the etiopathogenesis, clinical course, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of testicular abscess, which is a rare disease, are described. Testicular abscess develops most often as a result of acute epididymo-orchitis (more than 80% of all cases), much rarer due to testicular inversion and injury. The etiological agent is often E. coli. The disease occurs at any age, especially in immunocompromised patients. Clinical and laboratory picture of testicular abscess has symptomatic nature and consists of local and general signs of purulent inflammation.

Testiculat torsion (TT) is an emergency condition that is accompanied by partial or complete chorda spermatica vessels compression resulting in testicular infraction. In course of time the symptoms are less defined, which in its turn raises the issue of timely differential diagnostics. Testicular tumours in prepubertal children tend to be pure yolk sac tumours detected in stage I and have good prognosis. We describe a case of a 2-year old male child with a mixed testicular tumour presenting with stage IIC disease and managed with retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for residual retroperitoneal disease post adjuvant chemotherapy.

PURPOSE The psychosocial outcomes of testicular cancer and Hodgkin's disease were compared to test our hypotheses that more specific dysfunction and less hiding of symptoms would be found in the former group, as cancer visibly affects a sexual organ. Since those with Hodgkin's disease could more easily deny the disease, poorer psychosocial adjustment was predicted. PATIENTS AND METHODS The sample consists of 85 men with Hodgkin's disease and 88 men with testicular cancer (seminomatous, n = 39; or nonseminomatous, n = 49). They were interviewed once, at least 1 year following the end of treatme

The incidence of testicular cancer is steadily increasing over the past several decades in different developed countries. If on one side better diagnosis and treatment have shone a light on this disease, on the other side, differently from other malignant diseases, few risk factors have been identified. The reasons for the increase in testicular cancer are however unknown while risk factors are still poorly understood. Several studies have suggested that exposure to various factors in adolescence as well as in adulthood could be linked to the development of testicular cancer. Nevertheless, the

Klinefelter syndrome, 47,XXY (KS), is the most frequent sex chromosome aberration in males, affecting 1 in 660 newborn boys. The syndrome is characterized by testicular destruction with extensive fibrosis and hyalinization of the seminiferous tubules resulting in small testes, hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, and azoospermia in the majority of cases. Until recently, infertility was considered an untreatable condition in KS. However, with the development of new advanced assisted reproductive techniques such as testicular sperm extraction (TESE) combined with ICSI it seems that KS patients should

Purpose: Testicular cancer is rare with increasing incidence worldwide. Testicular cancer can mimic many other diseases leading to delay in diagnosis. Delays in diagnosis and management of testicular cancer are associated with advanced stage, increased morbidity and poor prognosis. This case report aims to highlight a case of testicular cancer who presented with metastasis due to delays in testicular cancer diagnosis and ways to improve diagnosis.
Methodology: The study focused on a 17-year-old boy presented with severe intermittent abdominal pain for a month. He was reviewed by the gene

Degenerative disease of the lumbar spine is often ignored as a potential cause of testicular pain because the exact link between the two remains uncertain. This article reports the case of a 60-year-old man with a 3-year history of low back pain and unexplained right testicular pain for 2 years. Painful symptoms were negatively affecting his social, physical, and sexual functions. After failure to achieve pain relief through multiple types of therapy, the patient sought chiropractic treatment for his condition. In 2012, testicular cancer was estimated to account for 940 disability adjusted life years in Australia; of these, 450 were years lost due to premature death and 500 were years of healthy life lost due to disease, disability, or injury (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and Australasian Association of Cancer Registries, 2012). Testicular choriocarcinoma is one of the rarest variants of testicular germ cell tumours, accounting for less than 1% of testicular germ cell tumours and only about 0.19% of all testicular tumours. Seminomas are common germ cell tumors (GCT) that may arise in the testes as well as in extra testicular locations such as mediastinum with/without testicular tumor. Testicular tumors are usually detected early due to their location and presentation as testicular mass. The overall prognosis of the seminomatous GCTs is good with surgery as the mainstay of treatment in localized disease. Bone metastases, especially when present in isolation are exceedingly rare in seminoma. Here, we present a rare case of skull bone metastasis in a case of testicular seminoma which was detected on technetium-99m

The SLC2A14 gene encodes for GLUT14, an orphan member of the facilitated membrane glucose transporter family, which was originally described to be exclusively expressed in human testis. However, genetic variations in SLC2A14 are associated with chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which cannot be explained by a strictly testicular expression. Therefore we analyzed available information on the SLC2A14 gene to update knowledge of the locus and its encoded products. This report presents an expanded SLC2A14 gene locus and a more diverse tissue expression, co
