Abstract:
There have been significant changes in social studies textbooks through time. Especially since the 2005 syllabus entered into force, these textbooks have seen important changes both in content and form. While comprising of a little citizenship knowledge and mostly history and geography subjects before, since 2005 these textbooks came to contain many fields of knowledge including science and technology, psychology, sociology and economy, in addition to the history and geography subjects before. This new form of the textbooks has also passed through many changes until today. Finally, social studies textbooks were updated in 2018-2019 academic year based on the changes in the program. The goal of this study is to assess the contents of this updated grade 5 social studies textbook in line with opinions of the teachers. In scope of this study an interview form mostly comprised of open-ended question was applied with 28 teachers working in various provinces in order to assess the contents of the grade 5 social studies textbook put into use in the 2018-2019 academic year. The responses given to these open-ended questions are processed by content analysis method, which is a qualitative research technique. The study process was conducted in a planned and transparent manner. This is also important for reliability and validity of the study. It is found that teachers are generally satisfied with the content of grade 5 social studies textbook. There are some problems cited in regard of the language of the book not being suitable for the student level in context of some subjects. In particular, teachers have important suggestions regarding use of a storytelling language in regard of culture and heritage subjects in the textbook. The textbook is found adequate in regard of actuality and inner circle teaching. The teacher largely think compatibility of visuals with the content of textbook is sufficient; however, the textbook used in the previous year was also deemed agreeable in this regard.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the methodology of modern economic theory. The advantages and disadvantages Of the McConnell and brew economies are analyzed. It is compared with the textbook “Political economy” of the period of the USSR and Soviet Russia. A literature review has shown that many authors are critical of Main stream and are looking for alternative theories and methodologies. The article analyzes the institutional reasons for teaching Economics. Given the growing global crisis of industrial civilization and, in particular, the systemic crisis of its economic and political leader-the United States, the question is raised about the need to create a new type of textbook on economic theory. The article describes the philosophical roots of Economics and Marxist political economy. According to the authors of the article, these two areas of science and education in the twentieth century became examples of a “secular form of religion”, since their ideological orientation prevailed over the scientific content. “Russian Economics” is a textbook for undergraduates that has broader system relationships with other Sciences (sociology, political science, Cybernetics, zoopsychology, etc.) and applies, along with well-known models of Economics, also qualitative methods and models of classical political economy within the framework of a systematic approach. The article describes the methodological principles of a new type of textbook that reflect the basic provisions of traditional European culture and can serve to form the concept of the “third way economy”, as an objectively emerging model of a mixed economy.

Abstract:
Analyzed with the Flesch formula for reading ease and interest were 28 textbooks on the education of children with behavioral disorders and/or emotional disturbance. Reading levels were surprisingly low with one book in the “standard, grade 8 to 9” category, 8 in the “fairly difficult, grade 10 to 12” category, and the other 19 in the “difficult, college level” category; 11 of the books were classifed as “dull”, 15 as “mildly interesting”, one as “interesting”, and one as “highly interesting”. Textbook coverage on 25 topics was also analyzed and charted. Great disparity was found in the topics treated by the various authors. Near-unanimous coverage of the topic of behavioral theory was found, while coverage was sparse on the topics of normal development, counter theory, and motivation. Some of the textbooks were found to have inadequate subject and author indices and only 7 of the books contain a glossary.

Abstract:
The author discusses a currently important issue –design of the textbook-based home assignment in teaching the Russian language as a school subject. The author views the purpose of this article in drawing attention to that issue, because home assignments largely consist of textbook exercises. However, since the goals of education, principal approaches to the design of the educatory process, and the teaching environment have changed in the past decade, it is necessary to update approaches to the design of schoolchildren’s home assignments in the Russian language. Having based on advanced methods of academic research, completed experimental work and her own school-teaching experience, the author comes at the conclusion that existing textbooks of the Russian language provide ample opportunities for the design of home assignments targeting development of modern education’s key skill in the students – ability to self-educate. At the outcome, the study helps to identify the teachers’ priorities in organizing homework of schoolchildren and describes the vectors of changes in organizing textbook-based homework. The working methods and techniques proposed by the author take into consideration the informational and educatory environment of the contemporary school student, and have been tried out and evaluated within the framework of experimental activities.

Abstract:
The article deals with the problems of term functioning and classification in the field of electronic educational publications (electronic textbooks) in the Ukrainian publishing market. It analyses the main features of the standards in the field of electronic book publishing, as well as basic principles of its creation. The problems of creating electronic textbooks have been highlighted. Prospects for further research and a possibility of terms’ usage from the publishing business have been described. Previously, this term was understood as a device enabling reading, but at present an e-book is a content that requires playback by individual devices. The problems of creating interactive electronic publications, including the lack of skills of publishers and a high cost of software for such publications’ layout have been explored. This issue can be resolved either in concluding agreements with foreign partners,or in creating their own technological platforms. Summarizing our analysis, we can conclude that standards in the field of electronic publications should be updated at least once every five years. Ukraine needs not only well-designed standards, but also a respect for copyright and a protection of intellectual property. A lack of control, unified typological classification and certification of such publications can result in springing up electronic publications of improper quality. Respectively, they can harm users. Sometimes publishers can not clearly identify which electronic product they have made. The problem can be solved only at the national level, with the help of regulations and a creation of a regulative institution. The latter should be responsible for standardization and certification of e-learning publications and their quality characteristics. The prospects for standardization of electronic publications have been determined. Keywords: e-learning edition, e-textbook, interactive textbook, multi media content, standard, typology, problems.

Abstract:
In recent years many textbooks and manuals on religious studies have been published in Ukraine. However, one of them deserves special attention because of the frank and even brazen appropriation of the author by the author of the meaningful potential not only of national scholars but also of the classics of world religious studies. It is a textbook of Ya.Chernenko's "Religious Studies: A Theoretical and Practical Course", which was published in 2005 in the Kiev publishing house "Professional" with a circulation of 800 copies. I would like to point out that this guide was recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for higher education students (letter No. 14 / 18.2 - 2835 of December 28, 2004).

Abstract:
It is very important for a modern specialist to be aware of information technolo-gies and effectively apply them in their professional activities. Thus, the use of electronic learning tools contributes to the motivation of students and allows them to more deeply master the learning material through video and audio files com-pared to a paper textbook. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effective-ness of the introduction of the experimental electronic textbook in physical educa-tion classes. The proposed textbook consists of 7 modules. The goal, objectives, as well as the tasks for their implementation and test tasks to consolidate the ma-terial learned, have been developed for each module. During January-May 2019, at Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanov, there was a peda-gogical experiment to introduce an electronic textbook in physical education. The experiment involved 28 young men. The results showed that the introduction of an electronic textbook in the experimental group has a more positive effect on physical fitness compared to the control group.

Abstract:
The Oxford Textbook of Neuroscience and Anaesthesiology is the first book of its kind to comprehensively address the care of neurosurgical and neurological patients, the study of neuroscience in anaesthesiology, and neurologic outcomes of non-neurosurgical interventions, which make up the ‘three pillars’ of neuroanesthesiology. The first section of the book covers the neuroscientific foundations of anaesthesiology, including the neural mechanisms of general anaesthetics, cerebral physiology, the neurobiology of pain, and more. The second section represents the traditional pillar related to the care of patients with neurologic disease in the operating room or intensive care unit, with a focus on clinical neuroanaesthesia. These chapters systematically treat the perioperative considerations of both brain and spine surgery, and provide introductions to neurocritical care and paediatric neuroanaesthesia. Finally, the last section examines some connections of neurology and anaesthesiology, discussing how conditions such as dementia, stroke, or epilepsy interface with the perioperative period. The book brings together specialists from around the world, whose comprehensive expertise is distilled into 28 concise but informative chapters that describe the cutting edge of neuroscience and neuroanaesthesia.

Full text
Abstract:
This chapter discusses the place that punishment occupies as a response to crime. In many ways, the idea of punishment lies at the heart of our thinking about crime and criminal justice. It acts as a kind of balancing factor to the offence and seems like an obvious and natural consequence of a wrongful act, as in the biblical idea of ‘an eye for an eye’. However, the criminologist’s task is precisely to interrogate fundamental assumptions and to question the obvious. As such, there is a need to consider, with a critical eye, some well-established conventions such as the principle of ‘just deserts’ and the idea that we should make ‘the punishment fit the crime’. The chapter explores aspects of the historical development of punishment and its changing role in society and looks at particular forms of penal sanction, notably the death penalty, the use of imprisonment, and community-based alternatives to the deprivation of liberty. The chapter then assesses the role of the judiciary in administering punishments, the consequences of imposing punitive measures, and the criticisms of the use of punishment.
