Abstract:
ABSTRACT
 This research was aimed a) to find out the right calcium dose to increase aluvial agricultural land pH, and b) to find out the influence of calcification on rice plants growth and production. This research was conducted on July 2018 until January 2019 in Agricultural Faculty, University of Jember. The research design used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with one factor that has 6 standard and 4 repetition. Calcium dose treatment included to: Ca0 (0 ton/ha), Ca1 (1 ton/ha), Ca2 (1,3 ton/ha), Ca3 (2 ton/ha), Ca4 (2,6 ton/ha) and Ca5 (3 ton/ha). The data was statically analyzed using ANOVA and if it is obtained influence of analysis treatment, it was continued using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with credibility level of 95%. The result of analysis showed that the addition of CaCO3 was able to increase pH H2O, pH CaCl2, and available P2O5, and able to reduce Al-dd level. The suitable dose of CaCO3 was 1,3 ton/ha (Ca2) or using method based on Al-dd. The giving of 1,3 ton/ha was able to give the best growing media for rice plants growth, so that it was able to increase rice plants production. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk a) Mengetahui dosis kapur yang sesuai untuk meningkatkan pH tanah sawah aluvial, dan b) Mengetahui pengaruh pengapuran terhadap peningkatan pH tanah sawah aluvial, pertumbuan dan produksi tanaman padi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2018 sampai Januari 2019 di Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jember. Penentuan dosis pengapuran yang diaplikasikan berdasarkan dengan kebiasaan petani, metode Al-dd dan KTK efektif. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan satu faktor perlakuan yang memiliki 6 taraf dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan dosis kapur terdiri dari Ca0 (0 ton/ha), Ca1 (1 ton/ha), Ca2 (1,3 ton/ha), Ca3 (2 ton/ha), Ca4 (2,6 ton/ha) dan Ca5 (3 ton/ha). Data hasil dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dan apabila didapatkan pengaruh perlakuan analisis dilanjutankan dengan menggunakan Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) dengan taraf kepercayaan 95 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian CaCO3 dapat meningkatkan pH H2O, pH CaCl2, P2O5 tersedia, Ca2+ serta menurunkan Al-dd dalam tanah. Dosis yang sesuai adalah 1,3 ton/ha atau menggunakan metode berdasarkan kandungan Al dd. Pemberian CaCO3 1,3 ton/ha sudah dapat memberikan media tanam yang ideal untuk pertumbuhan tanaman padi. sehingga mampu meningkatkan produksi tanaman padi.

Penelitian dilaksanakan di Teaching Farm Kelapa Sawit Jonggol, Bogor dari bulan Oktober 2013 hingga Maret 2014. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT) dengan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas 1 faktor, yaitu pemupukan kalsium dengan 4 taraf dosis Ca: tanpa kalsium (Ca0), 0.6 kg (Ca1), 1.2 kg (Ca2), dan 2.3 kg (Ca3) kalsium. Setiap satuan percobaan terdiri atas 5 tanaman sehingga terdapat 60 tanaman contoh. ABSTRAK
 penyakit sel-sel saraf di otak, akibat hipokampus yang rusak oleh radikal bebas. EEDK (Ekstrak etanol daun kelor) (Moringa oleifera, Lamk.) mengandung phytochemicals, karoten, vitamin, mineral, asam amino, flavonoid dan phenolic, terbukti mengurangi kerusakan oksidatif dan defisit memori. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efek EEDK terhadap memori spasial, kadar MDA, jumlah sel piramidal hipokampus yang rusak area CA1,CA2-CA3 dan gambaran histopatologi mencit.
 Rancangan penelitian ini pre test and post test control group design untuk uji memori spasial dan post test control group design untuk uji kadar MDA, jumlah sel piramidal hipokampus dan gambaran histopatologi. Menggunakan 30 ekor mencit terdiri dari 6 kelompok, per kelompok ada 5 ekor mencit, yaitu kelompok kontrol normal, kontrol positif, kontrol negatif, kelompok EEDK 100, 200, dan 400 mg/kgBB, semua diinduksi Pb asetat 50 mg/KgBB kecuali pada kelompok normal. Kontrol positif diobati kuersetin 50 mg/kgBB, sedangkan kontrol negatif tidak diobati. Data uji memori diperoleh dari uji Morris water maze pra dan paska perlakuan, data status antioksidan diperoleh dari uji kadar MDA dan data gambaran histopatologi diperoleh dari perhitungan jumlah sel pyramidal. Analisis data menggunakan repeated measures ANOVA dan ANOVA dengan Post Hoc LSD.
 Hasil penelitian menunjukkan waktu latensi, uji kadar MDA dan pemeriksaan histopatologi otak terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok kontrol negatif dengan kelompok EEDK. Pemberian EEDK 400 mg/kgBB paling efektif memperbaiki memori spasial, menurunkan kadar MDA, dan mencegah kerusakan sel piramidal hipokampus area CA1, CA2-CA3.

Cekungan Air Tanah (CAT) Kendal merupakan salah satu dari 31 cekungan air tanah yang terletak di wilayah Provinsi Jawa Tengah yang memiliki intensitas pemanfaatan yang tinggi. Oleh sebab itu, perlu adanya evaluasi kondisi hidrogeologi untuk mengetahui aspek kualitas maupun kuantitas dari air yang berada dalam CAT Kendal tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk inventarisasi titik minatan air tanah di dalam wilayah CAT Kendal, pola dan arah aliran air tanah, kualitas air tanah dan menentukan asal usul air tanah. Metodologi yang digunakan mencakup pendekatan lapangan melalui pemetaan hidrogeologi serta analisis hidrokimia air tanah. Terdapat dua system akufier yaitu akuifer bebas dan akuifer tertekan. Hasil pemetaan hidrogeologi diperoleh 100 titik minatan hidrogeologi yang terbagi atas 73 titik sumur gali dan 2 titik mata air untuk serta 25 titik sumur bor untuk merepresentasikan sistem akuifer. Range nilai daya hantar listrik dari akuifer bebas dan akuifer tertekan yaitu 260-13.050262 μS/cm dan 1.788 μS/cm. Nilai pH berkisar antara 6,3-8,3 dan 6.5-8.8. Pola aliran airtanah bergerak dari selatan ke utara mengikuti morfologi yang melandai ke arah utara. Kondisi litologi mempengaruhi fasies air tanah. Batuan vulkanik menyebabkan air tanah memiliki kandugan mineral kation Ca2+ dan Mg2+ dengan anion bervariasi. Sementara itu lapisan alluvium di daerah dataran akan menyebabkan air tanah kaya akan mineral sodium (Na+) dengan anion berupa klorida (Cl-) ataupun sulfat (SO42-).

Seperti halnya cat air yang diterapkan pada permukaan kertas. Akan tetapi, tidak dipungkiri bahwa penggunaan media-media cat berkualitas baik dalam berkarya membutuhkan biaya yang tidak sedikit. Cat air yang dibuat dari bahan makanan diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi terhadap fenomena keterbatasan media berkualitas dengan pertimbangan ekonomi, sehingga mahasiswa dapat berkarya dengan media yang lebih kreatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan cat air dari bahan makanan terhadap karya lukis mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, melalui tahapan proses pembuatan cat air dan proses berkarya. Teknik pengumpulan informasi dilakukan dengan cara observasi terhadap proses pembuatan cat air dari bahan makanan, dan proses berkarya mahasiswa seni rupa pada mata kuliah praktek. Selain itu juga dilakukan pendokumentasian berupa pengambilan gambar selama pelaksaan penelitian dan pengumpulan hasil karya mahasiswa untuk diamati lebih lanjut. Hasil analisis warna cat air dari bahan makanan dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada dasarnya cat air yang dihasilkan memiliki kualitas yang cukup baik. Hal ini ditandai dari tekstur cat air yang dihasilkan kental tanpa gumpalan serta warna yang dihasilkan cerah dan bersih (jelas). Adapun dari tampilan visual yang diterapkan pada kertas gambar menunjukkan bahwa intensitas warna cat air dari bahan makanan menghasilkan tampilan warna yang lembut (soft), sedangkan intensitas cat air buatan pabrik menghasilkan tampilan warna yang lebih kuat dibanding cat air dari bahan makanan.

Cat adalah suatu zat yang digunakan untuk melapisi suatu substrat atau suatu permukaan objek. Pelapisan dengan cat berfungsi untuk melindungi, memperindah hingga menambah nilai dari suatu barang. Banyaknya jenis cat yang beredar dipasaran membuat masyarakat kesulitan dalam menentukan cat yang akan digunakan. Kesalahan dalam pemilihan cat dapat menyebabkan ketahanan dari lapisan cat yang tidak dapat bertahan lama. Sehingga pengguna harus mengeluarkan biaya yang lebih besar lagi. Dari permasalahan tersebut diperlukan suatu alat bantu atau suatu aplikasi sistem pendukung keputusan yang dapat digunakan untuk membantu dalam pemilihan cat. Metode Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) dan metode Weighted Product (WP) adalah metode yang dapat digunakan dalam pemilihan cat. Dalam setiap metode diperlukan kriteria-kriteria sebagai dasar dalam pemilihan cat. Kriteria yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah ketahanan, harga, fitur dan daya sebar cat. Dari hasil pehitungan dengan metode Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) didapatkan akurasi sebesar 95.38% dan metode Weighted Product (WP) didapatkan akurasi sebesar 96.92%.

The intention of this thesis is to identify and analyze the cat woman archetype as a contemporary extension of the transgressive witch archetype, which rampantly appears over the course of cinema history, working as a signifier of a patriarchal society's fear of autonomous and subversive women. The character of Catwoman is the ultimate representation for this archetype on grounds of her visibility, longevity, and ability to return again and again. More importantly, Catwoman and her sisterhood of cat women work against male creators as a means of female empowerment through trickery. Within this thesis, key films of varying genres are drawn from throughout cinema history and analyzed in order to demonstrate the intertextual network of characters that make up the cat woman archetype, and the importance of the Catwoman character in her many forms.

In this study, we investigate the feasibility of Feebly Interacting Massive particles (FIMP) as possible candidates to constitute the observed Dark Matter abundance in the universe. FIMPs are particles that couple very feebly with known particles in the Standard Model (SM). As such, they do not attain thermal equilibrium with the baryon abundant environment in the early universe before Nucleosynthesis. In contrast to a freeze-out mechanism common for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMP) as DM candidates, FIMPs are produced by the so-called freeze-in mechanism that we will describe in this study. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Coleman Weinberg (C-W) mechanism affects the FIMP [freeze-in] mechanism. We specifically consider a minimal extension of SM in which an Electroweak Singlet-scalar ($S$) couples only to the Higgs-boson ($H$); This is called the Higgs-portal mechanism. We study the C-W effective potentials for the Higgs and Dark-scalar singlet and their implications on FIMP mechanism.Using these, we focus on the High-temperature production of the DM with just the $HH\mapsto SS$ to compute the reaction rates, comparing Bose-Einstein statistics ($\Gamma_{HH\mapsto S S}^{B-E}$) to Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics $\Gamma_{HH\mapsto S S}^{M-B}$. We employ only $\Gamma_{HH\mapsto S S}^{B-E}$ to compute DM relic abundance ($Y$) at several Dark-scalar masses ($m_S$) as a function of coupling $k$, establishing that Higgs-Dark scalar coupling $k$ $\mapsto$ $k_{DM}$ corresponding to actual DM abundance lies in between ${10}^{-8.7}$ and ${10}^{-8}$, i.e. ${10}^{-8.7}&lt;k_{DM}&lt;="" div=""&gt;<br>I denna studie undersöker vi mycket svagt interagerande massiva partiklar (FIMP) som möjliga kandidater till den observerade mängden av mörk materia i universum. FIMP:er är partiklar som interagerar väldigt svagt med de kända partiklarna i Standarmodellen (SM). Som sådana uppnår de ej termisk jämvikt med den baryonrika omgivningen i det tidiga universumet innan nukleosyntes sker. I kontrast med en frys-ut mekanism vanligt för svagt interagerade massiva partiklar (WIMPS) som DM kandidater, så produceras FIMP:er av en så kallad frys-in mekanism som vi skall beskriva i denna studie. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur Coleman Weinberg (C-W) mekanismen påverkar frys-in mekanismen för FIMP:er. Vi tar särskilt hänsyn till en minimal utvidgning av SM i vilken en Elektrosvag singlettskalär ($S$) interagerar med endast Higgsbosonen. Denna mekanism kallas för Higgs-portalmekanism. Vi studerar de C-W effektiva pontetialerna för higgs och mörk-skalärsingletten och deras implikationer för FIMPmekanismen. När vi använder dessa, så fokuserar vi på högtemperatursproduktion av DM med endast $HH\mapsto SS$ för att beräkna reaktionshastigheter, och jämför Bose-Einstein statistik ($\Gamma_{HH\mapsto S S}^{B-E}$) med Maxwell-Boltzmann statistik $\Gamma_{HH\mapsto S S}^{M-B}$. As shallow reefs continue to decline, scientists are searching for the key to their persistence; as it turns out, they may just need to look deeper. Below many shallow tropical reefs, there exist healthy and more stable mesophotic coral reef communities. The ability of these reefs to act as a refuge for declining shallow populations has garnered significant interest among the scientific community; however, the reproductive and larval aspects necessary for this to occur are unknown. This study assesses the ability of deep reefs to act as a reproductive refuge for shallow counterparts by examining gametic compatibility, viability and larval settlement preferences. Gametes from Orbicella franksi inhabiting the shallow (14-20m) and the upper mesophotic (27-32m) were introduced in a series of inter- and intra-depth crosses and found to be compatible. Larval settlement experiments found no natal depth preference, with deep larvae significantly preferring to settle on shallow conditioned substrate. Our findings support the plausibility of healthy mesophotic reefs acting as a refuge for depauperate shallow populations by (1) providing gametes to mix with limited shallow gametes resulting in increased fertilization and (2) providing larvae that recruit and repopulate shallow reefs. This is the first study to comprehensively evaluate the Deep Reef Refugia Hypothesis from a reproductive and larval settlement standpoint. Our results suggest a close coupling between shallow and mesophotic reefs through gamete and larval export and illustrate the current and future importance of these mesophotic reefs.

This paper addresses the relationship between the visually impaired and the visual arts. The first section focuses on the scientific background of sight and vision disorders, as well as touch. Current research indicates that the blind can process complex spatial information through touch, just as the sighted can through vision. Thus visual art can be accessible to visually impaired people if it contains tactile information, such as 3D shapes or textures. However, galleries traditionally display art that visitors are only able to interpret visually, excluding the visually impaired and blind. My Fall project aims to challenge the dominant visual mode of interaction with art through a personal lens. By creating 3D works that are touch-accessible, both sighted and non-sighted people can experience my art.

Being inconspicuous in the dark outdoors can cause accidents including physical injuries. To prevent pedestrian being involved in accidents it is necessary to make them most visible to approaching people.This Master’s Thesis examines the use of retroreflective clothing in a semi-dark urban environment to provide safety through conspicuity. Through analysing the lighting situation in Stockholm, the ability of the human vision, reactions and existing products it has led to experiments and surveys to find the most efficient line placement and pattern to make an individual recognizable as human on approach.The results were that body outlines and horizontal lines along joints made a human most identifiable. Most conspicuity was given when lines were wider than 2cm and patterns contrasted to the surroundings.As the experiment was conducted in a semi-dark setting, different retroreflective design solutions might be more adequate for other lighting scenarios with more or less light

Abstract:
How do firms tend to their current viability while remaining competitive in the long-term? This question lays out the basis for this thesis by highlighting their conflicting logics through the concept of organizational ambidexterity. Literature makes a distinction between competing in mature markets and existing technologies (exploitation) versus new markets and new technologies (exploration). The preponderance of studies shows that, as firms grow larger, they tend to form core rigidities in their culture, structure and processes that hamper their efforts to adapt to the changing environment. By overemphasizing exploitative activities, future challenges or opportunities remain unexplored which can have a devastating effect in the event of radical, external changes. The cases of Nokia and Kodak should serve as cautionary tales in this regard. The automotive industry is currently undergoing a transition to electric cars. We conduct a case study at Volvo Cars from a senior leadership perspective, to illustrate the importance of exploration and how it can be legitimized during an industry transformation. Our work points to three major findings. First, communicating the importance of the transformation with the rest of the organization is imperative to creating goal alignment. Secondly, interorganizational collaboration in R&amp;D helps Volvo to tap into knowledge that resides outside the organization and thereby increasing the chances of a successful transition to electric cars. Thirdly, agile management contributes to knowledge diffusion and is a powerful tool to counter organizational inertia by adding to firms’ speed and responsiveness, making them act more similarly to smaller, entrepreneurial firms.

We suggest that the solution to the cosmological vacuum energy puzzle may come from the infrared sector of the low energy effective quantum field theory of gravity, where the impact of the conformal anomaly is of the upmost importance. We proceed by introducing two auxiliary fields, which describe the quantum state by the specifications of their macroscopic IR boundary conditions, in contrast to UV quantum effects. Our investigation aims at finding a realistic cosmological solution which interprets the observed dark energy as a well defined deficit in the zero point energy density of the Universe. The energy density arises from a ’phase transition’ that alters the quantum ground state, wherein we give a precise ’renormalization’ scheme and definition for a ’renormalized vacuum energy’ that we identify with the dark energy.

Artikel ini membahas tentang gambar cadas yang terdapat di Kampung Maimai dan sekitarnya di Kabupaten Kaimana, Papua Barat. Motif-motif gambar cadas di wilayah ini mengikuti konsep dari Ballard dan O’Connor berkaitan dengan Penutur Austronesia yang dikenal dengan Austronesian Painted Tradition (APT). Pengumpulan data gambar cadas dilakukan melalui survei di lapangan, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa indikasi kebudayaan dari Penutur Austronesia pada gambar cadas yang terdapat di Kaimana. Indikasi tersebut antara lain ditunjukkan oleh lokasi yang berada di wilayah persebaran Penutur Austronesia, keletakkan gambar cadas pada lokasi yang sulit dijangkau, serta penggambaran motif khas seperti cap telapak tangan, antropomorfik, wajah atau topeng, matahari, dan perahu.

Abstract Design teams are often asked to produce solutions of a certain type in response to design challenges. Depending on the circumstances, they may be tasked with generating a solution that clearly follows the given specifications and constraints of a problem (i.e., a Best Fit solution), or they may be encouraged to provide a higher risk solution that challenges those constraints, but offers other potential rewards (i.e., a Dark Horse solution). In the current research, we investigate: what happens when design teams are asked to generate solutions of both types at the same time? How does this request for dual and conflicting modes of thinking impact a team’s design solutions? In addition, as concept generation proceeds, are design teams able to discern which solution fits best in each category? Rarely, in design research, do we prompt design teams for “normal” designs or ask them to think about both types of solutions (boundary preserving and boundary challenging) at the same time. This leaves us with the additional question: can design teams tell the difference between Best Fit solutions and Dark Horse solutions? In this paper, we present the results of an exploratory study with 17 design teams from five different organizations. Each team was asked to generate both a Best Fit solution and a Dark Horse solution in response to the same design prompt. We analyzed these solutions using rubrics based on familiar design metrics (feasibility, usefulness, and novelty) to investigate their characteristics. Our assumption was that teams’ Dark Horse solutions would be more novel, less feasible, but equally useful when compared with their Best Fit solutions. Our analysis revealed statistically significant results showing that teams generally produced Best Fit solutions that were more useful (met client needs) than Dark Horse solutions, and Dark Horse solutions that were more novel than Best Fit solutions. When looking at each team individually, however, we found that Dark Horse concepts were not always more novel than Best Fit concepts for every team, despite the general trend in that direction. Some teams created equally novel Best Fit and Dark Horse solutions, and a few teams generated Best Fit solutions that were more novel than their Dark Horse solutions. In terms of feasibility, Best Fit and Dark Horse solutions did not show significant differences. These findings have implications for both design educators and design practitioners as they frame design prompts and tasks for their teams of interest.

Mobile wallets replicate physical wallets on a mobile device, in which users can store different payment instruments (e.g., cards, transfers) to make mobile payments. As the mobile wallet is adopted, a mobile payment scheme emerges, with its users as elements in a network of transfers. In this article, I study the mobile payment scheme of Movii— the first fintech firm in Colombia operating under a financial non-banking license for electronic deposits and payments. Based on a unique dataset of bilateral transfers between Movii’s mobile wallet users, I build, visualize and analyze Movii’s network, daily from November 18, 2017, to November 25, 2020. Besides the anticipated increase in the number of users and the value of transfers, the visual and quantitative complexity of the network of transfers increases over time. This increase in complexity is likely to be linked to the adoption of Movii’s mobile wallet, which results in users finding new ways to use mobile payments beyond person-to-person transfers, including person-to-business and business-to-business. Also, results suggest the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the evolution of Movii’s mobile payments scheme.

New language technologies are coming, thanks to the huge and competing private investment fuelling rapid progress; we can either understand and foresee their effects, or be taken by surprise and spend our time trying to catch up. This report scketches out some transformative new technologies that are likely to fundamentally change our use of language. Some of these may feel unrealistically futuristic or far-fetched, but a central purpose of this report - and the wider LITHME network - is to illustrate that these are mostly just the logical development and maturation of technologies currently in prototype. But will everyone benefit from all these shiny new gadgets? Throughout this report we emphasise a range of groups who will be disadvantaged and issues of inequality. Important issues of security and privacy will accompany new language technologies. A further caution is to re-emphasise the current limitations of AI. Looking ahead, we see many intriguing opportunities and new capabilities, but a range of other uncertainties and inequalities. New devices will enable new ways to talk, to translate, to remember, and to learn. But advances in technology will reproduce existing inequalities among those who cannot afford these devices, among the world’s smaller languages, and especially for sign language. Debates over privacy and security will flare and crackle with every new immersive gadget. We will move together into this curious new world with a mix of excitement and apprehension - reacting, debating, sharing and disagreeing as we always do. Plug in, as the human-machine era dawns.

The article deals with the ways in which social networks and the blogosphere influence the formation and implementation of a PR campaign. Examples from the political sphere (election campaigns, initiatives), business (TV brands, traditional and online media) have revealed the opportunities that Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, YouTube and blogs promote in promoting advertising, ideas, campaigns, thoughts, or products. Author blogs created on special websites or online media may not be as much of a tool in PR as an additional tool on social media. It is noted that choosing a blog as the main tool of PR campaign has both positive and negative points. Social networks intervene in the sphere of human life, become a means of communication, promotion, branding. The effectiveness of social networks has been evidenced by such historically significant events as Brexit, the Arab Spring, and the Revolution of Dignity. Special attention was paid to the 2019 presidential election. Based on the analysis of individual PR campaigns, the reasons for successful and unsuccessful campaigns from the point of view of network communication, which provide unlimited multimedia and interactive tools for PR, are highlighted. In fact, these concepts significantly affect the effectiveness of the implementation of PR-campaign, its final effectiveness, which is determined by the achievement of goals. Attention is drawn to the culture of communication during the PR campaign, as well as the concepts of “trolls”, “trolling”, “bots”, “botoin industry”. The social communication component of these concepts is unconditional. Choosing a blog as the main tool of a marketing campaign has both positive and negative aspects. Only a person with great creative potential can run and create a blog. In addition, it takes a long time. In fact, these two points are losing compared to other internet marketing tools. Further research is interesting in two respects. First, a comparison of the dynamics of the effectiveness of PR-campaign tools in Ukraine in 2020 and in the past, in particular, at the dawn of state independence. Secondly, to investigate how/or the concept of PR-campaigns in social networks and blogs is constantly changing.

Considerando que las plataformas de investigación son esenciales para el fortalecimiento de la capacidad operativa e investigativa de la Armada Nacional y la Dirección General Marítima, se desarrol la desde 1999, el proyecto de reparaciones mayores de los buques oceanográficos ARC Malpelo y ARC Providencia, que debe terminar en el 2001. La Agenda para la Colombia del siglo XXI , publicada por COLCI ENCIAS, nos indica que se han promulgado los planes estratégicos preparados en los siete programas Nacionales de Innovación y Desarrollo Tecnológico. En este contexto la Dirección General Marítima formuló su Agenda Científica que identificó cuatro Programas para ser desarrol lados en el período 2000-2010: Oceanografía Operacional , Protección del Medio Marino, Zona Costera e Hidrografía. La estrategias regionales de ciencia y tecnología cobran entonces, especial relevancia. Es en el espacio regional, y en el de las necesidades locales, que se puede buscar una más clara articulación entre los programas nacionales y los requerimientos de desarrollo del país. Con el lema: Colombia dos Mares, una Patria , el presente Anuario Científico, en su primera edición pretende consolidar en un solo volumen, resultados de investigaciones adelantadas en los dos Centros y que por lo tanto ameritan su divulgación y difusión, dentro de la estrategia institucional de comunicación para dar a conocer los avances de la investigación desarrollada, así como la toma de conciencia sobre el problema ambiental, la degradación de la zona costera y su situación particular de riesgo en la región del Pacífico, el rol principal de los océanos y el clima, la explotación de recursos oceánicos vivos y no vivos y la necesidad de sostenibil idad en su utilización.
