Abstract:
To build a tsunami-resilient coastal community it is fundamental to understand the characteristics of past tsunami patterns and likely impact of possible future events. The MOST model (Method of Splitting Tsunami) and ComMIT (Community Model Interface for Tsunami) were used to model patterns of water levels, wave speed and direction, and inundation distances resulting from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami on the Khao Lak coast of Thailand. The model of the 2004 tsunami was calibrated against estimates of water depths made along the coast in early 2005; an M, = 9.3 earthquake in the model was foun

Abstract:
Sustainable development is vital in order for Thailand to continue to develop as in previous years. However, sustainable development cannot be achieved if the amount of macroplastic littering into the oceans does not decrease. In order to facilitate future decision making regarding this issue, this report aims to identify which human activities that contribute the most to the present macroplastic waste items on Thai shorelines. This identification was performed through a simplified material flow analysis based on observations and simple calculations on the island Koh Chang in Ranong. A compara

For the sea level, we use the radar altimetry data form several satellites (Topex/Poseidon, Jason-1, GFO, Envisat, ERS-2) available from AVISO, from 2003 through 2006 (four y

Eustacy was the dominant factor influencing the Gulf of Martaban Field isolated platform, subdivided in Lower and Upper Martaban Limestones (LML) and (UML). LML was established on top of a faulted accretionary basement that influenced the LML late Oligocene growth. At the Oligocene-Miocene boundary, siliciclastic influx inhibited the carbonate growth, infilled a central trough, and covered the LML platform top, creating a relief on top of which grew the UML platform. This platform first aggraded and backstepped, and then drowned due to early Miocene high rates of sea level rise. The Maldives,
