Abstract:

Abstract:
What caused the baby boom? And can it be explained within the context of the secular decline in fertility that has occurred over the last 200 years? The hypothesis is that: (a) The secular decline in fertility is due to the relentless rise in real wages that increased the opportunity cost of having children; (b) The baby boom is explained by an atypical burst of technological progress in the household sector that occurred in the middle of the last century. This lowered the cost of having children. A model is developed in an attempt to account, quantitatively, for both the baby boom and bust.

Abstract:
There is abundance of baby formula brand in Indonesia’s market. To capture reasonable share in these lucrative businesses, it is imperative that producers have to remain competitive. Advertisements in a variety of media is being recognized as a method to communicate products to a wider target audience but empirical research also shown that consumers are sceptical of such claims. The purpose of the paper is to identify customer perceptions and attitude towards baby formula and their willingness to pay. The preliminary qualitative study was conducted by focus group discussion and sentence completion technique. The quantitative study is expected to validate the findings. Questionnaires are distributed to total 105 mothers who have baby at 0 – 5 years old, where hypothesis were tested with multivariate analysis. The result shows that growth benefit made by baby formula significantly influence the willingness to purchase baby formula. The mothers stated that baby formula is considered as substitute for breast milk only, giving nutrition for baby but does not build baby’s intelligence as claimed in many advertisements. The implication of this research is valuable for marketer to understand consumer preferences and perspective on baby formula purchase.

Abstract:
The article proposes new concepts of dramaturgical thinking for baby theatre productions. With an arts-based research approach, allowing insiderperspectives of the artmaking process to come forth, the authors, who are the director and dramaturge of the performance Baby Becomings by Teater Fot, discuss different concepts of postdramatic dramaturgical aspects in relation to the work. By adapting Donna Haraway’s theories of sympoiesis and science art worldings as a theoretical framework, the article explores how Haraway’s philosophy serves both as artistic inspiration and provides new concepts for dramaturgical reflection. The authors ask how posthumanist and sympoietic perspectives connect to postdramatic dramaturgy and wish to propose a posthumanist dramaturgy of sympoietic worlding in theatre for babies.

Abstract:
The present argument over the „demographical crisis“ in Germany is characterised by only women being considered as potential mothers. Childless women however are accused of selfishly pursuing their careers and are predicted to spend their remaining years alone. Thereby, the gap between those women with children and those without is reinforced. This article examines these ideological formulas, contrasts them with women’s actual attitudes (convictions) and living conditions, and finally raises the question why politically active women remain so conspicuously silent in this discussion.
