Abstract:
We apply extended local hidden-gauge formalism to study meson–meson interactions with the quark constituents ccc¯c¯, ccc¯b¯/c¯c¯cb, ccb¯b¯/c¯c¯bb, bbc¯b¯/b¯b¯cb, and bbb¯b¯, in which the exchanged mesons are the fully heavy vector mesons J/ψ, Bc* and Υ. We solve the coupled-channel Bethe–Salpeter equation to derive two poles in the bbc¯b¯ system and two poles in the ccc¯b¯ system. There are also four charge-conjugated poles in the b¯b¯cb and c¯c¯cb systems. In the bbc¯b¯ system, one pole corresponds to a sub-threshold bound state when the cutoff momentum is set to Λ>850MeV. The other pole in this system corresponds to a sub-threshold bound state when Λ>1100MeV. In the ccc¯b¯ system, the two poles correspond to sub-threshold bound states only when Λ>1550MeV and Λ>2650MeV. This makes them difficult to identify as deeply bound hadronic molecules. We propose investigating the two poles of the bbc¯b¯ system in the μ+μ−Bc−channel at the LHC.

Abstract:
This article interrogates the figure of the Eastern European itinerant in contemporary prestige BBC drama to highlight the figure’s role in mobilizing ideas of nationhood and foreignness in Brexit-era Britain. Our critical analyses of Dracula (BBC1, 2020), Killing Eve (BBC America, 2018–), and Call the Midwife (BBC1, 2012–) show that programming that putatively celebrates British multiculturalism and diversity configures the Eastern European foreigner as a threat to idea(l)s of Britishness, by deploying this figure in strikingly similar imaginaries of contagion, deviance, and savagery. Such treatment embeds these portrayals in discourses of white nationalism that seek to manage national belonging by articulating the limits and rules of the national community as implicitly racialized terms of culture and space.

A Day Like Today, by John Humphrys. London, UK: William Collins, 2019. 400 pages. ISBN 9780007415595 400pp.
JOHN HUMPHRYS will be less well known outside the UK than his contemporary from BBC World, John Simpson, but his autobiography is an entertaining and informative recounting of his career and well worth reading. For more than three decades he presided over BBC Radio 4’s flagship early morning current affairs programme, Today. Like Jeremey Paxman on BBC2’s Newsnight, he built a reputation for taking no prisoners in interviews and for having a keen sense of what makes good radio journalism.

Abstract:
The October of 2018 saw the creation of BBC Earth Tribe, a global online brand representing BBC Natural History Unit (NHU)’s programming on Tencent Video, one of China’s leading online streaming services. Besides providing over 650 hours of BBC documentaries to Chinese online audiences, BBC Earth Tribe delivers unprecedented access to creators from BBC NHU through interactive screen forms and offline events. This article offers a study of BBC Earth’s global strategies in its partnerships with one of the largest Chinese digital platforms, Tencent, in terms of coproduction and online community building beyond traditional canned television distribution. It examines Project Penguin, which has formalised coproduction partnerships between BBC Studios and Tencent Online Media Group (OMG) since October 2018. The distribution partnerships involve not only pre-sales of BBC Earth’s flagship documentaries but also coproduction and online community building on Tencent-run platforms, from streaming services to social media platforms. By examining BBC Earth’s distribution strategies in the Chinese media landscape from the early 2000s, the paper aims to theorise distribution strategies between BBC Studios and Tencent Video and its socio-cultural implications on television distribution in the digital, multiplatform era of convergence.

Abstract:
In November 2015, the BBC Trust gave its final approval for BBC Three to cease broadcasting on television in the United Kingdom and become an online-only entity. The decision is a landmark moment in the history of BBC Television and has significant implications for BBC planning in relation to the continued transition from broadcast television to streaming and download services. In this article, the original proposals for moving BBC Three online are assessed and discussed within the wider context of current BBC policy. It is argued that the rationale used for moving BBC Three online is based on arguments that vary in the extent to which they are backed by evidence. It is also argued that the plans have significant regulatory implications for the future of BBC Television and for the television licence fee in the United Kingdom.

Abstract:
<p>This paper looks at how the media – particularly the British press and television – frames the issue of Romanian immigrants in Great Britain, in the context of the freedom of movement for workers in the European Union. The study focuses on the frames employed by the British journalists in constructing anti-immigration discourses in the digital and the TV sphere, comparatively. This study analyzes the stereotypes about Romanian people used in two British media formats and the way in which they affect Romania’s country image overseas. Using a mixed research approach, combining framing analysis (Entman, 1993) with critical discourse analysis (Van Dijk, 1993), and dispositif analysis (Charaudeau, 2005) this article investigates 271 news items from three of the most read newspapers in the UK (The Guardian, Daily Mail and The Independent), published online during January 2013 – March 2014. Also, the paper analyzes three film documentaries from BBC (Panorama – The Romanians are Coming? – BBC1, The Truth About Immigration – BBC2 and The Great Big Romanian invasion – BBC World News). The analysis shows that the British press and television use both similar and different frames to coverage Romanian migrants. The media also infer the polarization between “Us” (the British media) and “Them” (the Romanian citizens).</p>

Abstract:
The news broadcasted on the BBC Great Debate places issues related to the referendum into two categories: our party (United Kingdom) and their party (European Union). According to Edelman’s news frame theory, BBC, through the BBC Great Debate program, creates specific perspectives by using particular words that influence the way audiences understand reality. This study explores the impact of the BBC ideology on frames of the EU referendum broadcasted on the BBC Great Debate and the changes in the Brits’ political attitudes. This research’s paradigm is constructivism with a qualitative approach, and the analytical method used is Edelman’s news frame analysis model. Based on the findings, despite numerous criticisms expressed by leading UK academics regarding BBC’s alignments with Leave campaigners in the first three months of the campaign, BBC continued to frame biased stories. The news packages broadcasted by the BBC were potentially designed to influence the Brits’ political decision, turning their vote from remain to leave the EU. However, a specific survey on the voters should be conducted to profoundly examine whether the BBC Great Debate had significantly changed their political decisions.

Bontong, Yafet, Milka Rante, and Nitha Nitha. "Low-carbon steel fatigue behavior after pack carburizing with buffalo bone charcoal and barium carbonate media." Jurnal Polimesin 22, no. 2 (2024): 174. http://dx.doi.org/10.30811/jpl.v22i2.4596.

Full text
Abstract:
The pack carburizing method is a technique that can be employed to enhance the surface hardness of Low-Carbon Steel (LCS). This method can potentially improve the hardness of the material while maintaining its strength. This study aims to investigate how different carburizing media, specifically varying percentages of Buffalo Bone Charcoal (BBC) powder as a carbon source, impact the mechanical properties of LCS. The temperature in the carburizing process ranges from 850°C and 950°C while maintaining a holding time of 2 hours. The carbon derived from buffalo bone charcoal is finely ground and mixed with barium carbonate (BaCO3) as the energizer during this process. This study used different ratios of BBC powder and BaCO3 as carburizing mediums. The ratios tested were 60% BBC + 40% BaCO3, 70% BBC + 30% BaCO3, and 80% BBC + 20% BaCO3, based on the weight of the BBC powder used in the carburizing process. The steel will be combined with BaCO3 and powdered BBC for this research. Next, the fatigue test was examined. BBC in the pack carburizing process increases LCS carbon content by 0.735% from 0.268%. This change alters the steel's microstructure, possibly increasing its hardness and wear resistance. The direct link between BBC concentration and LCS carbon enrichment shows the process's efficiency. Pack carburizing also improves LCS fatigue strength. This improvement is due to higher BBC concentration, smaller carburizing medium particles, and higher processing temperatures. After carburizing, the LCS can resist 36,625 to 61,435 cycles.

Abstract:
Biobased carbon materials (BBC) obtained from Norway spruce (Picea abies Karst.) bark was produced by single-step chemical activation with ZnCl2 or KOH, and pyrolysis at 800 °C for one hour. The chemical activation reagent had a significant impact on the properties of the BBCs. KOH-biobased carbon material (KOH-BBC) had a higher specific surface area (SBET), equal to 1067 m2 g−1, larger pore volume (0.558 cm3 g−1), more mesopores, and a more hydrophilic surface than ZnCl2-BBC. However, the carbon yield for KOH-BBC was 63% lower than for ZnCl2-BBC. Batch adsorption experiments were performed to evaluate the ability of the two BBCs to remove two dyes, reactive orange 16 (RO-16) and reactive blue 4 (RB-4), and treat synthetic effluents. The general order model was most suitable for modeling the adsorption kinetics of both dyes and BBCs. The equilibrium parameters at 22 °C were calculated using the Liu model. Upon adsorption of RO-16, Qmax was 90.1 mg g−1 for ZnCl2-BBC and 354.8 mg g−1 for KOH-BBC. With RB-4, Qmax was 332.9 mg g−1 for ZnCl2-BBC and 582.5 mg g−1 for KOH-BBC. Based on characterization and experimental data, it was suggested that electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonds between BBCs and RO-16 and RB-4 dyes played the most crucial role in the adsorption process. The biobased carbon materials showed high efficiency for removing RO-16 and RB-4, comparable to the best examples from the literature. Additionally, both the KOH- and ZnCl2-BBC showed a high ability to purify two synthetic effluents, but the KOH-BBC was superior.

In the hot and dense hadronic sources formed in high energy heavy-ion collisions, the particle interactions in medium might lead to a measurable back-to-back correlation (BBC) of boson–antiboson pairs. We calculate the BBC functions of ϕϕ and K+K- for anisotropic expanding sources. The dependences of the BBC on the particle momentum and source expanding velocity are investigated. The results indicate that the BBC functions increase with the magnitude of particle momentum and exhibit an obvious dependence on the direction of the momentum for the anisotropic sources. As the source expanding velocity decreases, the BBC function decreases when the particle momentum is approximately perpendicular to the source velocity, and the BBC function increases when the particle momentum is approximately parallel to the source velocity.

Abstract:
This research aims to reveal the alignment of the BBC news portal in the conflict that occurred at the 2022 World Cup. From October to the end of November 2022, the BBC will carry headlines about the Qatar-LGBTQ community-FIFA triangular conflict. This BBC news is interesting to examine critically through the lens of Ruth Wodak (2001), namely historical and discursive strategies. This study uses the Wodak paradigm to criticize the BBC news text about the conflict to reveal the media's ideology and partiality in this case. Wodak always involves historical aspects of discourse content because news texts never stand alone but are related to events in the past. The discursive aspect becomes a tool to frame how news is presented using language as a social practice. The research results state that the BBC is a pro-LGBTQ community. This inclination can be seen from the BBC's language presentation, word choice, and the language structure used by the BBC in presenting news. The BBC is also very skilled at inserting rejection of Qatar's principles through human rights presentations.

Abstract:
This paper examines the problems the BBC has in engaging and representing minority audiences. The Director General of the BBC, Tony Hall, has claimed that he wants the future BBC to “represent every family and community in the UK” (June 2014). Not an easy feat when the BBC’s own research indicates that it is failing to attract ethnic minority audiences (BBC Service Review 2012). Critics such as Hall (1990) have suggested the problem is the media construction of “race” as an issue and its definitions. The paper will focus on the BBC Asian Network, a radio station which was almost closed down in 2010, ostensibly because it was the most expensive BBC radio service to operate, and had very low listener figures. Producers and Editors explain the issues they face in attracting and retaining the target audience.

Abstract:
Purpose: To investigate the association between the bird-beak configuration (BBC), a wedge-shaped gap between the undersurface of a thoracic endograft and the lesser curvature of the arch after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), and postoperative outcome after TEVAR. Methods: The study was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines. The PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases were searched to identify all case series reporting BBC after TEVAR between 2006 and April 2018. Data analysis was performed considering the difference in the risk of complications for presence vs absence of BBC. After screening 1633 articles, 21 studies were identified that matched the selection criteria; 12 of these reported detailed information to investigate the postoperative outcome using proportion meta-analysis with a random effects model. The pooled risk difference is reported with the 95% confidence interval (CI). Heterogeneity of the included studies was assessed with the I2 statistic (low 25%, medium 50%, high 75%). Results: Complications occurred within a range of 0 to 72 months in 14.7% (95% CI 7.4% to 27.3%) of patients with BBC and in 6.3% (95% CI 2.5% to 15.4%) of patients without BBC. A cumulative incidence could not be assessed. The summary risk difference was 11.1% (95% CI −0.1% to 22.3%, p=0.052). There was significant heterogeneity ( I2=85.6%). The Egger test did not show evidence of publication bias (p=0.975). When specifically considering type Ia endoleak and endograft migration, the risk difference between BBC and non-BBC patients was 8.2% (95% CI 0.3% to 16.1%, p=0.042; I2=69.0%). The specific risk difference for endograft collapse/infolding and thrombosis was 3.7% (95% CI −3.5% to 11.1%, p=0.308; I2=10.2%). Conclusion: At present the literature does not provide statistical evidence to establish an overall prognostic value of the BBC. Nevertheless, the BBC appears to be associated with a high risk of type Ia endoleak and endograft migration, which warrants specific and long-term surveillance. Clinically relevant values for BBC grading should be established to perhaps define indications for preemptive treatment based on the presence of BBC only.

We will explain some of our prepared tasks for teaching programming concepts, which we used for teaching with BBC micro:bit in primary, secondary schools, and university. In the article, we will also focus on various types of extensions, which could be used together with micro:bit. We will explain the results of our research and look at whether using BBC micro:bit can increase the student's motivation for learning programming.

Abstract:
Both the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) are being subjected to close scrutiny, but from different quarters. During the lead up to the British general election in 2015, the Cameron Conservative government issued a Green Paper, BBC Charter Review, July-October 2015, which broke new ground in terms of the scope of such an enquiry for its level of institutional criticism. Whilst ostensibly the document only purported to raise options for future change, and invited public submissions for consideration, there has been widespread concern about the possible serious intentions of the government for the corporation’s future. Though the ABC appears to be subject to much less vitriolic attack than its British counterpart, it too faces a range of threats and abuses. Paradoxically, such aggressive scrutiny comes at a time when both broadcasting corporations enjoy record audiences, continuing high levels of public trust, and on-line market leadership as a result their successful development of new digital platforms.
